How a Handsome Halo Superstar Became the Controller God of Apex Legends

- When you look back across esports history, it’s actually incredible to think about how far we’ve come.
We’ve gone from duking it out side-by-side in packed, sweaty arcades, to beating the crap out of each other at equally stinky convention centres.
We’ve risen from the niche, primordial grime of glorified LAN parties, to behold sold-out arenas losing their minds at jumping no scopes.
Of course, for us it’s easy to take it all for granted because this is the new normal.
But for the early pioneers of competitive gaming, it must be tough to look at esports today and see the spoils of their labor being enjoyed by a new generation of fans, who may not even know who they are.
Now fortunately, a lot of these trailblazers have been able to stay connected to esports by getting into some form of coaching, commentating or adjacent business ventures.
But there are a select few who have been able to keep their legacies alive by continuing to compete at the highest level.
And in the case Halo legend and Apex pro Eric “snip3down” Wrona, one of the greatest console FPS players to ever live, it’s not about just participating for pride.
He’s not interested in passing the torch on to the next generation, no, he wants to light them on fire with it.

never gonna thought that coldzera jumping no scope would be in an apex player documentary but then it's theScore of course
Would it be a thescore video without it. They just can’t help themselves
Them always showing that clip in as many videos as humanly possible is one of my favourite memes at this point haha
Just needs a TenZ frenzy 4K too lol
@@Girvo747 and the almighty ✨OLOFBOOST✨
Just be happy it isn't the olof boost XD
Before snipedown played his first lan, one of the things that got him noticed in the halo community was that he played a game where he finished with 100% accuracy. Literally didn’t miss a shot the entire game
But hes humble enough to say he isnt the best aimer. What a legend
@@Versace_sheets He said it himself; it wasn't because of his raw aim. But because he outposition most of his enemies that he can shoot freely and accurately.
Solid video as always guys. If i may share with you the only thing that is cringe too me in your content... you guys deliver all your lines as they were your very last on this earth. I am confident that you don't need to do that much to be effective . Beside that please keep up the good work!
Glad I’m not the only one that remembers this
@@Versace_sheets because he isnt and I'd argue he was never even the best sniper in his prime, love my boi but he just wasn't.
"we should be fu*king dudes"
-snip3down
Legendary quote. Even better with Daltoosh commentary😂
Never forget!
Fun fact: met Snip3down outside the bathroom at an AGL tourney for Halo and no lie dude said, “gonna take a shit before I shit on these dudes on the main stage”. Absolute GOAT
Absolute legend
LMAO
Lmao
He should be fucking dudes
Damn 💀
as his editor, this brings a lot of nostalgia. crazy that i went from being a fan of str8 rippin as a 17 year old to editing for him, and the biggest org in esports with TSM. this video was so dope!
My gaming claim to fame: I met Snip3down at a Halo event in London and we drank in a pub after the event finished, he's a really genuine and cool person, which I think was captured in this video very well, great vid!
Ahhh the H3 forum EU days
God, it's so crazy seeing Snipedown - one of the guys that got me glued to competitive gaming and esports still being cracked out of his mind and playing at a high level in a different hut similar game. I will forever love that man and what he has showed to the scenes he's been in.
Been of fan of snipe since the ole' MLG days. The dude has always been a GOAT.
I remember playing against him and the pro teams all the time in rank 50 MLG Playlist on halo 3 way back in the day. The dude was definitely built different and anyone who got the chance to play with him OR against him was always left with a sense of amazement I know he wouldn't admit it but in his halo prime he was a top 3 player.
@@nicks2601 I can’t even imagine lol. I feel like playing him would have the enemy Skyrim song playing the whole match lol.
@@elconnero 🤣🤣🤣 he was the final boss for ranked halo 3!
@@nicks2601 lol sure you did and no he was never a top 3
@@oneautumnleaff2119 lol glad you know my life better than I do! Bro I'm a grown ass man I don't give a damn if you believe me or not. Go find someone else to troll.

the best coms ever in apex legend is
hal: how are you guys on loot
snipe: all i have is a volt with 60 shots
hal: ahhhhh your on controller you'll be fine
This one hits way close to home. As an ex unreal tournament pro. I have won several 1v1 and CTF LAN tournaments with the prize often being a GPU or in some rare cases, a couple grand. With a wife and kids, I still sit in the top couple percent in the FPS's I play. But at almost 39 years old with less time to play, it's hard seeing the top 0.5%/pros being so wealthy these days from just gaming. But this boomer continues to gray and pew pew nonetheless.
teach me!
Hopefully you can make it back to the top
I love it!!
Boomer? lol
Bro, start a twitch and we'll drop a follow
YES A SNIPEDOWN VID! I LOVE IT WHEN HALO GETS SOME LOVE - THE NA ESPORT AHEAD OF ITS TIME
MLG clips give me goosebumps man... mlg 480 p steams way back in the day were the best as a kid
Fuck ya bro. Took me down memory lane my old h3 team used to get our asses handed to us by snipe and the other h3 pros in ranked MLG lol
Ogre ghostayame lunchbox Walshy running into them randomly in MLG 50 playlist ahh good days
Even though it was hard to see him leave Halo, we all supported him through the transition to Apex and although some people stopped watching, there's still a ton of support out there for what he's doing. He's not only a cracked competitor, but he's also a great person in general. Easily my favorite esports personality/competitor.
Now he back to halo lol
@@skull_boi8195 and I am absolutely THRILLED about it 👏👏👏
I used to play with snip3down back in the day when I was in highschool. He was known as a “online warrior” aka: people who’s parents wouldn’t let them go to tournaments but were good enough to get into pro lobbies and destroy. I met a friend at a local halo 3 tournament right after launch, he finished first and I was in a distant second. We would team for every local 2v2 and win by miles.. He went on to team with snip3down at mlg events, so I was lucky enough to share some lobbies with him back in the day. Loved when he was on my team 😂. So cool to see how his career transitioned and is still relevant today. So many GOATS from that era. Always think to myself that we were all born a few years too early, but so happy to see how far it’s come!
08 Str8 Rippin All my OG Halo fans knew Snipedown was a beast on any game!
Good to see all of my fellow Halo veterans come out of the depths of hell alive and well in these comments! Kids these days don’t know about Walshy, TSquared, Elamite, hell even Phurion and the many more GOATS from back in the glory days! Remember the Str8 Rippin Montage and how insane that era was?!?! Halo best shooter all time 😭
And now he's one of the best Infinite players too. Snip3 ain't going anywhere.
Snipedown has been my childhood hero since halo 3. So glad you guys did a video on him
Haven’t even watched this yet and I know this is going to be amazing
I love the fact that Snip3down played on a Halo team with T-Squared back in the MLG days, now T-Squared has "moved on" to doing official Apex commentary & analysis and Snip3down is just playing in Apex tournaments like years hasn't gone by. Lol
I always wondered what T2 was up to
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TOM!
@@AllHailNumo yeah he's become a real staple in ALGS broadcast. It was a good move for him.
@@magillagorilla57 thats dope I used to Fanboy Str8 back in the H3 days. how about TuLegitimate? I remember people would say he had the best BR when he was mad lol
@@AllHailNumo no clue what happened to Tulegit. I guess he just retired.
Abralelie didn't really dip into Valorant. It's probably the second time now where he tweeted "taking a break" / "focusing on content creation" just to get picked up by as the new 3rd for another team. Abralelie went to carry Liquid's team in Apex and despite decent placements, he did the same thing again. He is now the 3rd player on C9's roster after they essentially snaked knoqd for him. C9 was contending for top 3 if not at least top 5 consistently in tournaments and they decided to take Abralelie over him right after finishing so highly.
The funny thing is most of the time Team Liquid is just better in tournament. Sweet karma, I guess
To be fair any team would take alb. When it comes to the clutch factor no one is more reliable to pull off a 1v3 like he can, although as an IGL he sometimes makes the wrong call and I'm not sure if he is the best person for that roll but hey he did decent being liquids IGL
So happy for the dude. Gets to live his passion and is still killing it. My favorite streamer and eSports player by far. What a good dude.
As someone from the halo scene myself, its been great to see people like Snip3down, Formal, Ninja etc. see success. Their era was before esports was as established as it is today. Sooo many halo players left for normal life after halo died, only to be never to be heard from again lol.
Now we need one for reps to complete the tsm apex team
Damn, I never knew sniped own had this veteran background. Sick!
you would be surprised to know about Stormen then, man was one of the most cracked h1z1 players ever and despite his age now still effortlessly can compete against these young pros if he wanted to do but just chills with his twitch streams.
@@viper5351 damn, need To look up in his background as well then
It wouldn't be Snipedown video without Hal yelling in game lmao
The clip at the end is great! I had totally forgot Snip3 went 15-0 for a flawless game in Halo 3 against Shroud. What a Legend!
I havent watched the video yet, but I know the coldzera clip will be in.
Part 24 of asking for: The Story of WarOwl
War owllll
What's so special about him
Loved watching him on Str8 Rippin back in the day. He's been crazy good for years, glad to see him still killing it in esports.
I’ve had the honor of running into this man before in MM. And wow, what an absolute gamer. I’ve played in small local tourney’s around Seattle and would consider myself better than the average halo fan. But this dude is on a whole other level, I’ve never had a harder ass whooping in a halo game before.
I've never watched anybody who can 1v3 pro players while competing or in ranked Apex as much as Snip3down. His positioning is insane..he almost never loses a 1v1 its that rare. One of the best players ever for sure!
Back on h5 my favorite team to watch was hands down reciprocity always kept me on the edge of my seat
stories like these are amazing. It's crazy how far along esports has come since the MLG days
Thank you for the apex videos! I was screaming for them!
Snipe plays Apex like its a game of chess. Always thinking big picture and a few moves ahead. Guys like this always seem to come out on top even if they're not very flashy. Shivs another great example. No 360 no-scopes or flashy movement, just pure big-brain dominance.
Whoever owns that Coldzera clip probably has a noticeable percentage of their revenue from just theScore using it alone
I've been following snipe for a very long time, great to see him where he's at.
Always a good time when you hear Puckett casting in the background.
they really blurred the controller thinking we wouldn't know what brand it was lol.
What brand is it?
It wasn't them, it was the people who made the VLOG, "Whistle"
@@CurbsideT yeah I meant the dudes who made the vlog
They literally have to, it's not for you it's for sponsors lmao

Snipedown is my fave esports player. The only person I subbed on twitch. He's fun to watch and if he's playing with Hal it's even funnier. Hope he continues to play in the pro scene for many more years.
My dad still remembers snipedown. I was obsessed with halo as a kid and when we found out it was on tv we use to watch it when we could. He thought it was cool video games made it onto tv even if it wasn’t that popular. An now it’s huge. We both never thought this is how it all would’ve turned out
great vid on snipe, and i love all the references to his and hal's funny dynamic - wouldn't be a truly all-rounded snipe video without some mention of hal yelling at him at some point LMFAO. can't wait for more apex content, care to shed some light on reps too?
Next Video: How a handsome Halo Superstar became the controlle god of apex and switched to Halo again to be again a superstar
I remember back in the day when I used to go to Halo 2 Tourneys. Those events were badass! I was 19 in those days so I think Snipe and I are around the same age. 😆
Snipe, Daltoosh and Genburten have made me start trying to move to controller. I'm an older player (older than Snipe), and my movement and aim on M+K is quite good (used to play Quake and CS quite seriously), but I've grown tired of the control scheme. It's been fun learning to use the controller from scratch and watching their play, and I'm excited to see how controller integration into cross platform FPS games changes and improves in the future.
Snip3 is up there with Ogre2 for GOAT of Halo
The Zonic past and present shot made me smile ❤️
One thing I noticed about Snipe is that he is absolutely crazy when hip firing in Apex. Dont believe me? go look at his vods and youtube videos, that crazy hip fire I think is a translation of all the years he had in Halo. I freakin love that guy.
15:33 voice crack, i just can’t stop laughing xD
Wow I never knew Snipedown was an OG MLG Pro. Legend dude!
That's actually super cool hearing that Japan loves him and he does that for them
Yh
So proud of snipe. He started by taking heads off in Halo 3. Now he's fucking dudes in Apex.
FINALLY YALL MADE THIS!
Coming back to this as snipe has now quit apex and is a halo infinite pro, FaZe SnipeDown Lets Go
Lol for a "OG" pro and an re-uprising gamer in current gaming, this video is just a huge kiss on the ass for him. I use to play against him and all his teammates in his "golden age" in halo. He is still human and still easy to beat lol. But great video making all of us og gaming pioneers feel old btw.
Now he's going back to where it all started, wild
Let’s go I’ve been waiting
My man Snipe is hot asf, married with a qt and cracked at everything he plays. Truly a gigachad living the dream
Snipedown has been fuckin goated since halo ngl.
snipedown is hands down one of the most interesting apex legends pro!
I feel old now, I remember watching him in MLG back in the day.
and now he's back
Sheesh snipedown still goated just like his H3 days
I find it difficult to control players in fifa with analogue stick and this guy claps cheeks with it. Legendary.
And now he’s back to halo
He's back!
When my 35 year old cousin knows who he is... Both were Halo 2 MLG players back in the day.
Snipedown only played in MLG events during H3… Who is your cousin?

@@MakinaMakinaMakina I can't believe that, small world indeed! Last few time he's been around my house I've had halo infinite for him to play. He's still a competitor and a Gamer even though he's a busy man.
snipes last game of comp apex was today very sad but hes going back to his roots
You should’ve included the daltoosh intro for snipedown :( it’s so funny lmao handsome legends snipe
I remember playing Halo 3 and playing Boxer instead of Bumper Jumper and finding out snipedown also played Boxer, those where the days man
Those OG Puckett reactions too!
Been a fan for 14 years
Fuck yeah been waiting for this guy's video. Man's is actually a goat
The man himself said he wasn't especially talented with his mechanics?? If you were there at the time, you know that Snip3down had one of the most consistent shots in the game and lived up to his namesake. He's a humble legend lol.
2:24 you could literally ask the same question to Ninja of all people. lol They're just very good at shooting games and the deep mechanics within them. Skill is very entertaining.
Snipedown is a true legend of the FPS genre
Let's Goo Eric Wooo Get Rowdy And Pop Off AGL Coming Soon
As a regular controller player, I just suck at playing Apex until I watched Snipe in early season 8. I know a lot talented controllee player let say Toosh or Genburten. They both have insane movement and aim, and... I don't have that kind of talent. So I focus watched only Snipe, he doesn't have crazy movement. But he have a very good positioning simple focus aim, efficiency, and being smart. And I just reach Diamond in season 8 and 9. Now in season 10 I'm trying to reach Master. About TSM or Hal I agreed with you, whoever playing a comp game in early 2k it's just way more toxic 🤣 so we already get used to it and deal with it.
Was waiting for that Look Left! Clips by sniped0wn, FeelsBadMan
Funny how this story comes full circle...
we need a story for daltoosh mans a comedic gold mine
I played against him in halo can, it’s easy to see him doing this in apex too 💪🏽💪🏽
Omg I fucking love snipe down. My first intro into esports was halo 5 and I’ve loved him ever since then when I was 12
6:20
shes 100% suprised af when he said hes not the best mechanical
her face is like : HuuuuUUUUhhhHHH???
30 years old his Twilight years huh? I'm 41 and have over 1,000 wins in Apex. I've been playing multiplayer since Call of Duty Modern Warfare. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
Handsome Halo Superstar returns home.
It was a good apex era.
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!? -Hal
At least Snipedown recognises his roots. Ninja acts like he never played Halo.
"losing their minds"

Super well made video tbh
I wish you put snipedown literally destroying shroud single handedly. Like insanely.
Love me some snipedown since forever
im glad some halo peeps are getting some spotlight
nowhere can escape the coldzera clip
Alb didnt choose to step down he was cut
Eric's always been a GOAT
i like how he immediately switches back to CSGO XD man the guys running the channel literally live and breathe CSGO
getting older hinders more mechanically skilled players
than tactically skilled ones
