In the first clip…Getting all these tattoos at once does NOT sound like fun. Going from like no tattoos to 5 is crazy too.
For the most part they got them on pretty nonpainful spots but I do feel like they should have chosen people who had tattoos before they came on the show because it could have ended very badly, not very smart on the shows part

@@offkeyanthem173 depends on your pain tolerance. I have 5 tattoos. Some hurt pretty bad due to location. Longest was 4 hours. After a while of being under the needle I didn’t feel it as much.

12:08 Unpopular opinion but BOTH of these tattoos are horrendous considering how gorgeous the original photo was, it was clear and bright both are dark, Erik's is clearly the worst with just about everything being off but even in Mark's it's dark, the hair and face are lifeless, and the hat is wonky!

Totally agree with you! They got the photo of a pretty girl, but both tattoos looked weird. Proportions of her face got messed up. They even made her eyebrows look very sharp.
Cleans was so impressive he’s the only one I’d trust with a portrait
and he's no specialist of portraits or black & grey...

Aaron and Cris both RUINED that cute little girl’s image. I can’t understand how either of them sat and worked for hours and thought they were remotely close to her portrait.
The biggest mistake i have seen is that they went too dark on face creases and folds. The darkest tone should only be used for accents not shading
I didn't think they were bad. I really didn't like the first one in that clip, with the graduation hat.

That part is fake, like time limits for huge tattoos that obviously can’t be finished in 1 session also, the contestants and canvasses also have stated has much, it’s all editing.

I was thinking the same... I saw a really amazing tattoos whit water colours or just in black and the tattoos in that show are.... Not so good.
this show puts entertainment before the safety of the clients. it's really worrying that they think this is an okay thing to test out on two people with no tattoos already. these tattoos are permanent and painful
I cannot FATHOM having my first tattoo experience be even close to this. There’s no way I would even make it through the back of the thigh one - those girls are bad ass but this show should really quit doing this
There were probably lots of twins wanting identical tattoos out there but these were the only ones that would get five at once. Craziness

It's because the shoulder is turning but yes I agree, the eyes are so dark and the chin is very different, it looks messed up.
The far eye is squished, and the cap is wonky. I swear these judges are paid off or something every time I watch these I hate the judges observations.

Tattoo artists that don't know anything about music is absolutely horrendous being that Google would tell them how many lines are in a staff.
it shouldn’t even come down to knowing that stuff in general though, like if you’re going to put something on someone’s skin forever, at least do some research to ensure that what you’re doing is correct.
Shouldn't they have the original pic there with them so they can visually see what they're putting the needle down to tho? U can research and everything, but something as basic as tracing lines in this aspect shouldn't have no excuses

@@themoth1111 Yeah I just looked it up just before and saw that, turns out him and the prodcuer of the show decided to part ways and it was for the best, at least he apologized and realised that it was wrong, cause there are so many people out there that do that kind of stuff and find it acceptable when it's clearly not ok.

i sincerely don’t understand why someone would get their child’s portrait tattooed on them (with the exception of the child being deceased).

i can see why some people would, but it’s funny seeing it in this show because sometimes the photos ppl choose as their reference pics are just… not complimentary, and u just know it’ll be hard to translate into a visually appealing tattoo…
^especially when the prompt is photo-realism/hyperrealism- i’d rlly like to see a version of this where two artists still have to tattoo a portrait of the same person, but with the freedom to do whatever style they want! so it’s less about copying the photo and more about balancing style and skill, so they still capture a likeness, but the tattoo is more unique and creative
If my parents got any picture of me tattooed I would die, I don't even like photos of me everywhere let alone a permanent one on the skin

For me Erik captures the face and the hat of the girl way better than Mark, mark`s tattoo does not look like the Pretty face of the Photo, he make It looks like a fish.
To me, both of them were not very good. I also didnt see a problem with Ryan Ashley’s portrait in season 9.
I'm sorry but Mark's tattoo was awful! The tattoo looks NOTHING like the picture at least Erik's tattoo is pretty similar to the pic they showed and if i had to pick one to have on my body it would definitely be Erik's.

I go on an Ink Master binge about every other year. Latest one being the last two weeks and I just get to admire Cleen more and more. Dude kills it. Any place, any time, any style. Dude rarely did a weak tattoo and I believe I never saw him botch a canvas.
How is the chin the only thing mentioned about the twin tattoo of matti and david? the nose is completely different. mouth, eyes, shading is all better on matti's side. HOW could anyone think that's was done by the same artist?
Clean in early seasons seemed like a Happy Kid who was just happy to be involved and show off his talent.

If I ever volunteered as canvas for these people, you can bet I am making sure that I am Cleen's canvas. That man has the smoothest, most perfectionist style I have ever seen. Plus I LOVE his vibe!

As a musician myself, if someone game me the wrong amount of musical lines in my ear I'd pull a Van Gough.
Cleen is such an amazing artist. He brings it every time. Plus he has really awesome energy
I feel really bad for both the canvases and the artists when they have to tattoo at the same time. That's so stressful and painful for everyone. I wish they would stop doing this type of challenge, since it would most likely never happen in a real tattoo shop.
Erik is right, you can see the other nostril in the picture, how frustrating for him!! Aside from that lip, Erik’s was the most accurate, Marks looks cartoonish, which is probs why they liked it better.
He translated more nostril than was actually there, but he was right that it was visible.
Forget cartoonish, mark did a fish portrait.
@@Hoganply not even the problem. The shading on the nose is crooked, making it appear tilted at which the pose is facing. I'm shocked judges talked about the contrast of the other side of the nose rather than the glaring problem.
But that doesn't even come close to them not addressing Mark making googly eyes and a pinwheel cap. These judges aren't really good critics.

At least for me it makes it seem impossible to get a good tattoo unless you've got the best of the best and even then, who knows how many bad ones that THEY do? Hahaa all fun to watch tho and the really good ones do stand out when they happen

I've only had one bleed and it's the one I had to get reworked.

Getting a tattoo properly is so different from the show. You usually find an artist who specialises in the style you want- IE don't get a neotraditional artist to do your hyperrealistic portrait. They set the time, you can do multiple sessions, and you pick the artist after thoroughly researching their work, and seeing that all their recent work is consistent. That's what I did, and I got a tattoo I'm happy with
@@emj7336 Exactly! I’ve seen several comments here where people said they would never get a portrait tattoo - NO! Portraits can be incredible if you just do the basic research into and artist as well as the other things that you mentioned

Clean and Kyle will forever be my favourites. They’re very talented and have amazing personalities (ik Kyle is VERY aggressive but that makes him stand out aaaaaaaand he is funny)

12:10 anyone else prefer Erik’s? The lip bothers me but the nose I can see what he meant. Mark’s looks so uncanny, and the eye on the left doesn’t look right and it’s looking in the wrong direction. Also the hat is CURVED.

Honestly sometimes I feel this show did things that are just not ok at all. This and for another example the canvas who's first ever tattoo was on his eyelids... So wrong to do that any self respecting professional would have talked these people down and to make the artists do crap like that is pretty insane. Like avoiding bumping 1 spot on your body is bad enough but 5 spots all on very different parts of your body? Not cool. I'd bet money those girls were in a world of hurt.

I really liked Unkindness Arts' tattoos in that season!! A shame they didn't get to the finale, but their grace and art really stood out for me!!
RIP Scott Marshall, hard to look back at these old shows and see him and his work. Never had a chance to get a piece don't by him. Definitely a loss for the industry.

@@Anonymous-wg5cz the judges have an obvious bias towards the girls and take points away from their work because it’s not feminine enough, they’ve also commented on contestants putting too ‘manly’ tattoos on women. when there’s an obviously better done tattoo by a woman, style wise and technique, they choose the guy anyways.
I absolutely LOVE the show - every single one of them. Chris and Oliver as judges....usually I agree with their critiques....BUT...I do find them to be two hypocrites since the majority of work on their OWN skin is crap!!
