i thought it was a little morbid for my taste but i really liked Jason's Asian cat design for good luck. i'm glad DAve didn't want the bad luck words written under the tattoo.

I love how flash challenges have gone from quick tattoos to make sculptures out of toast
I think it’s to allow weaker artists a fighting chance at winning so they can give the better artists the bad skulls for the elimination challenge
I just find it HILARIOUS that Dave has to let them know the time left WHILE being tattooed bro

these judges were so weird. constantly saying how bad it is when a girl gets a "masculine looking" tattoo. or "good it's feminine" for a girl. it's fucking art. just slap some cool looking shit on me. don't give art a gender lmao
right 😭 and later these same judges say “art has no gender” 🙄
I think it has to do with how the judges view the canvases. If they're girly girls and more feminine vs. more tom boyish that's when they start in on a "softer, more feminine" bs.

I can't stand Cleen. Great artist, but his ego is just massive and I'd also say it was really disrespectful to say the pocket watch design was cheesy to both the artist and canvas since that's what they wanted
I think he only state his opinion about the design and not about the client and the meaning behind the tattoo itself

I have a Medusa tattoo, that doesn’t mean they aren’t cheesy or not unique.

I recently turned 50 and have been tattooing since I was 19 and one very unfortunate thing thats happened to the tattoo industry is the Huge Egos the majority of artists now have. Granted I've seen and covered some bad tattoos but I've never told a client "your tattoo sucks" or the person who did the tattoo is a horrible artist. I've always felt that tattooing was supposed to make people feel better and I do have respect for Alot of artists (mostly older generation artists). I'm glad I grew into the business when artists actually used to help each other rather than slam one another

@@user-pr4vf2lp4k Doesn't matter if it's a competition. There's still no need to put either clients or artists down. Tattooing is an art form and art is viewed subjectively, you might hate one's tattoo and the next finds it to be the most gorgeous piece they've ever seen.
It's just the TV side of things. "Reality" game shows and competitions really like their cast to overblow their emotions for extra drama. I doubt that most of the shit talking in this show is very genuine.
@@nonono7973 Fully agree with you on that - most of the arguements are scripted anyways. But I just disagree with the guy saying that in competitions this type of behaviour is normal, I strongly believe that no matter the circumstances you can always have a respectful environment around you. We don't know what's going on behind the curtains though.
I love the show and the competition but seriously hate how they script them being total douchebags to each other. I know reality shows are supposed to have villain's and hero's but I find it just annoying.

I think he just happened to like the bad ones best. There wasn’t a good one he liked as well as another bad luck.
i think for him the ouija plachette was a good luck one because he wears one on his necklace every day
I noticed that to but it fits his personality.
He did say that, but if he didn't like any of the good luck ones as much as he did the ones he got, he still has to live with them, even if they're small bangers on him. I think he did what was best for him and what he knew he was gonna like

That rabbit's foot creativity and the art itself was leagues above all the other options for Dave. Idk why he chose 2 bad luck tattoos that looked like shit.

So I 100% agree that his were the best designs together, that's sadly a double edge sword when you *need* to pick 2 separate artist designs.

my favorite type of tattoos are the ones where it means something to the people getting it, because i like the change of attitude where all they want is to do their absolute best to make something beautiful and meaningful to them, it's like a breath of fresh air
I've got over 50 tattoos 90% of them picked straight off the wall. Don't regret any of them!

For the postcard challenge, I thought Katie was gonna win. Had solid and bright color and a true postcard look with the stamp. I also thought Emily should have won for the tattoo virgins since her canvas got it on the ribs

I laughed when i saw the Sturgis postcard. Sturgis and the landmark are in 2 different states. Sturgis is South Dakota and the landmark is Devils Tower in Wyoming.

I really love Sarah, I think she’s willing to compromise and take advice, and is humble and intelligent. She’s also an amazing artist(I adored her Star Wars tattoo!). Of All the IM contenders, I’d want her as my artist.

i loved the designs dave picked they were two of my faves and honestly they suited his vibe more, it was super smart for one of the artists to design something for daves liking. don't know why more people didn't.

I got my first tattoo on my left hand and you’d have thought I had many, I was able to sit so well. I was just so happy to get my first tattoo! And it was with some inheritance dime as well, so it felt great to honor my mother in some permanent way. I didn’t tell my tattoo artist that but he did a fantastic job. It’s a 16-bit flower from Undertale

Ok, so Cleens tribal tattoo, is like a bit mix of Melanesian and Polynesian tattoo styles but not fully either style though. Both style do look similar but there are differences in each style.
But I can't be the only one that thinks Dave chose 2 bad luck tattoos or did I miss something?

The thing thst gets me is that on Season 4 they had an artist contestant who literally had Nazi hate symbols tattooed on his forehead, and the show didn't care about that at all. The show clearly doesn't actually care about racism (I mean, they should care, but they clearly don't) and then act like they were "blindsided" by Peck's past. Pfft.

It’s wild seeing how much better the quality of art and artist gets better over the seasons. Especially in season 8, like so many good artists all in one season. The first flash with the lotus here I didn’t see a single tattoo that I would’ve been chill with. All of the colour on every single one was poorly done except maybe saras.

I hate the negativity that is played up between the artists. I'm sure a lot of it is just made-up drama for the show but the fact that they encourage people to talk down about the other artists' tattoos and say how bad they are or that they suck or that their work was nothing special is disgusting. I also hate the fact that they always cut in some nasty comment from the other artists over and over during the show. Can I just watch the tattooing without someone being snarky about how their piece is so much better?

Jason's planchette would have been cool, but it's upside down...It should be with the point at the top. Like how Dave's necklace is. It's how u how it, when you are playing the Ouija board. With that eye being on the top side VS the bottom (underneath the circle) it really makes it look like a face with a O mouth, instead of just being an eye. Or if he would have at least put the eye underneath the circle, even with the point going downwards. I just can't see it as anything but a big giant O mouth personally lol.

Lol literally how mine was. I sent my artist a reference photo of a video game character and got whatever she drew for me 😂 and that's how it's been for my 3 other ones after. She gets an image, and I let her do whatever she pleases with it

In Daniel's case he killed someone and (which sucks to say) Chris only got arrested for choking his step daughter bc it's not as big as a deal. Plus Chris was good artist compared to Daniel. They cut Oliver out for racism and being sexist and didn't want to deal with that controversy

How painful is it to get tattoos over scars? I would love a full anatomical spine down my entire spine and I have had 12 surgeries on my spine; the scar is large low mid back to the sacrum/tailbone.
It’s not so much the pain but how the skin takes the ink. It can blow out, or reject. I had colour tattoos over scars that just spat the ink out, and black over other that took it well (but you can still see the texture). Let your artist see, and be flexible with what is physically possible. Good luck!
Honestly it depends on the scar, I have some really deep thick scarring and when the needle went over them I couldn't feel a thing.
If you wanted one on your skin the fact that the skin isn't very thick, it would hurt a considerable amount, I find tattoos closer to bone hurt more regardless of scarring. Or you could be absolutely fine like other people are, just gotta do it and find out, plus there's always numbing cream.

That poor girl Sarah provided all the comedy her season needed. Again & again put in her place, yet she ALWAYS thought she was so much more...she must be an only child.
She is an only child and was brought up homeschooled. She mentions it in an Ink Master:Redemption I think, where she’s on that face-to-face seating with Navarro. Sarah also says that it was her first time being in a big environment like that with other people.

I like her attitude. Shows how much confidence she has in herself while not being a tattooer as long as many others in the competition. And even if she was put in her place, she always put out the best work she could. If you wanna shit on someone, shit on Julia. She thinks she's better than everyone else, fakes her voice to be more likeable and is a terrible artist who can't accept her mistakes or compromise.
