I received several requests for this video over the past years, so here it is!. I decided to shoot the video while on my trip in northern Germany. It's a little more work than recording in my living room, but I hope it's worth the extra effort. Let me know what you think!
Your videos are a GOLDMINE. Truly indebted to you for your in depth explanations & citing examples. I don't know why you stopped making videos altogether but the subscribers of your UA-cam fraternity will be hugely benefitted if you restart the lessons. I have a problem with We & Wij, He and Hij, Ze and Zij. I don't know when should I put stress on and use Hij, wij & zij. Also I face problem using adjectives. For eg: klein- kleine, bruin-bruine...I just get puzzled when to use klein and when to put that extra e... Please try to upload one or two lessons once in a while. My heartiest regards to you.
You have to continue teaching Dutch! You're the most amazing teacher I've ever seen! Your way of teaching is not just about teaching; you are helping us acquire the essentials, become aware of the logic, and apply it meaningfully.
How come had I never before noticed that het, dit, dat all end with t? This is so obvious now and knowing it makes it so much easier to remember! Thanks!
Hi Niels, you have made this so simple. I knew that the same words were used for "this" and "that" in the plural forms for both "de" and "het" words, but never associated it with the fact that all plurals are "de" ! Your explanation has made this so easy, Thank you very much indeed.
Bedankt voor je oefenen video meneer NIELS.....Now i understood more about how to use the words of die dat deze dit.......groetjes vanuit malaysia...i learned a lot from your video...
Hey Niels, Your videos are amazing. You're a great teacher. Will you be making more soon? I'm studying dutch in Belgium and I usually learn more from your 10 minute videos than 3 hour lessons :P
I just discovered your channel today as I was feeling completely lost while doing my Dutch homework. You are an amazing teacher. Thank you so much. If you decide to create more videos or online cursus, let us know. I will be more than happy to support your work.
Love it how you portray dutch overall. Het is niet zo moelijk, maar wij moeten het uitspraak leren met geel veel zin. Van harte Dank! Keep it up... Beste wensen...
I'm also a new subscriber and I honestly believe that your channel is amazing. I strongly appreciate your work - please do not stop sharing relevant content about this beautiful language! Thank you!
Hi Niels! Your Dutch videos are always so good and clear. Great tool to learn Dutch. Thanks for your hard work! Please keep them available, don't delete. Hartelijk dank!
Hi! Thank you for your comment. They'll always be available for free, so don't worry! My mission is to put more materials (especially on advanced topics) on the internet so that people can learn my language more easily.
you are awesome, the way you explain made a lot easier, i am doing the imburgering writing test and i was really struggle with this. infinite thanks to you.
Wow, thanks for this video. I have been learning Dutch in the Duolingo course and they do not explain this. Without an explanation, the usage seems completely arbitrary. But it turns out it just comes down to whether it's a "de-" word or a "het-" word. This table is all that was needed to explain it.
Thank you so much for such a useful tip! I arrived in the Netherlands at the end of 2019 shortly before the epidemic, and haven't been able to start learning Dutch properly except some self-studies with apps. I'll check out your Patreon page too. Thanks!
Yeah. The difficulty is that "deze" looks as though it should always be plural because it's a cognate of "these," while "dit" is clearly a cognate of "this." So when I want to say "this man," I feel that I should be saying "dit man" rather than "deze man." "Deze mannen," of course, makes perfect sense for "these men"!
Hi sir : i am a new Subscriber . am realy happy to find , watch and Subscribed your hulpful videos . love the way , how you teaching . we realy need it . thank you so much .
ooooh die zin is bijna goed! (ooooh that sentence is almost correct!) you need to use deze instead of dit, but it's okay :) everyone can learn and if you say this to someone they will probably still understand it :)
i am, and i believe most Dutch learners are, dying for all about "dit, dat, deze, die" as they absolutely link to "het & de" - another tiger on our way to Ducth language beside the pronunciation of "R"! But really thank you for all the lessons and your effort!
I hope the video helped you with that, Helen. If you have any further questions about dit/dat/deze/die, let me know! I might make a video about the R in the future, but there are many (correct) ways of pronouncing it, depending on the accent and the region.
You're an excellent teacher! Your pace and explanations are on point. By the way, which did you learn first? Dutch or English? Or did you learn them at the same time? Also, have you considered being an online language teacher? I would hire you! :)
Hi Abi, thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the lessons. Dutch is my first language. I learned English in my early teens. I used to be a teacher, but I now have a different job. I started this channel because I didn't want to quit entirely
Oh, I love Dutch and clogs and tulips and windmills. There was a trope in a movie: there are two things I hate: discrimination and the Dutch. Haha. Anyway... *kus op wang en knuffel*
Geweldige video, je kan heel goed uitleggen. veel succes! Zou je misschien een video willen maken over het gebruik van "er", ik vind het erg ingewikkeld.
Dank je wel! Ja, "er" is inderdaad een moeilijk onderwerp. Ik denk dat ik er twee of drie video's over moet maken, want er zijn een aantal verschillende situaties waarin we "er" gebruiken. Maar ik ben het wel van plan!
Learn Dutch with Niels! Do you think you could do a video on how to learn vocabulary that we always tend to forget, or about very basic grammar? Since I started learning Dutch on my own not while ago these would be very helpful! But if you can't there's no problem, thank you for the content on this channel!
This man is teaching in peaceful manner.. I don’t know but it’s encouraging
Why don't you continue to post videos? You are a very good teacher ❤
Clear explanations. No background music to distract. Well done, bedankt
