Curtesy of AT&T and HBO Max, the Snyder Cut will be released. However, Warner and their DC outfit, would have preferred you to see it, for it might expose their past errors, and undermine their future plans.
More newsoutlets are beginning to cover this as well, so in this editorial @AndreEinherjar will go through some of that coverage, reiterate and add some more information to why Warner and DC did not, and more importantly, still do not want to release the Snyder cut.

So this studio took not one, but TWO films, took away creative control from the director, butchered them beyond repair in editing, and then had the balls to say that the director was the problem in order to justify butchering the third film. Makes perfect sense.

@@deidryt9944 But, didn't that same subsidiary (WB) already muddy the plans of The DCEU, by altering the original narrative and filmic structure for it, by thwarting, and then parting with, the main creator/overseer/Supervising Producer, who was spearheading it; then, chopping up his original 2-film epic in to a 2-hr. overly-simplistic, uncharacteristic, easily-digestible romp? And when the Warner Bros. version made less than $700 Million at The Box Office, certain studio heads were fired. So, a wrench has already been thrown in to the original inner workings of Warner Bros. and The DCEU. What happens if Zack Snyder's Justice League is monumentally better-received by audiences, and critically-praised by critics, and sets a new record for Streaming ratings for an original work/series? What if the show becomes, eventually, a #1 bestselling DVD/Blu-ray? What if it ends up having a 2-week theatrical run in movie theaters, and makes money? What if, years from now, Snyder's version becomes the official version, by default; and when it finally makes its Television broadcast debut, it makes profit in that medium, as well? Wouldn't that net gains for BOTH AT&T and Warner Bros., in the long run? Or, is this a Pride and Ego Thing, on the part of these big corporations, realizing that consideration and respect for loyal, and very powerful, fanbases/consumers/customers, can profoundly affect their respective profit margins?

Keep the character's core values and personality, if you are going to change them, you better show the development in scream in a coherent way. There was nothing dark about Superman. He was simply placed in the real world and people don't like that, they want to escape from the real world. There was a point in doing that. Superman needed something to overcome and when he's finally a boy scout, people can then relate to him more than any of iteration. Superman is boring to people, because he doesn't share the same struggles we do. Synder was giving him reasons to be hopeful and he has to discover things about himself. He has to have a reason for a no kill rule and why he doesn't do it. He needs a line and then has to decide why he won't cross it, not because he was just born good. That's what makes him boring.
The only thing in common these movies have with Batman Begin is that they are put in a real world. That's it. Batman is the dark character in BvS, he is at his worst and Superman gives him a reason to see the best in humanity. This is called character development. He goes from jaded to hopeful.
People would reject Superman. Half the world would worship him. Then Clark would struggle with it and overcome. That makes him interesting. The Christopher Reeve Superman was great and hopeful, but literally doesn't have to overcome anything until he gives up his powers. He was not relatable.
I think Snyder's films aren't for everyone. They are very analytical, metaphorical, cerebral and artistic. He assumes the audience is savvy enough to get it, and maybe to his detriment. Not everyone likes Superheroes deconstructed. They don't want a Superman to struggle to be good. At the same time, when he's just good from the start, people find him boring.
I personally love this version of this universe. It's a breathe of fresh air. We already have bright, colorful, light, popcorn superhero movies.
If you've read about Synder's 5 film arc, he was leading Superman up to what people expect. But, we needed to relate to him first, so Superman is modern, instead of dated. So, DC would have a property that has life again.
That's just my take. Obviously, people pushing for the Synder cut understood where he was going. Zack always said all along that Superman would go through things to get him to where we know.

@@itsalwayssomething7490 You fundamentally misunderstand superman. Superman can be placed in a cynical world but that wouldn't make him cynical in any way. In superman vs the elite he faced a similar situation when people start to want more violent solutions to crimes but he stayed true to himself and made people see this was not the right way.
And the fact that you believe people relating to superman more is good is also a sign you don't understand him. As a superman comic writer once said 'Don't make superman relatable. Make him inspiring'.
Superman learned his values from his parents. He struggles here and then but he stays true to his values and that is why people are inspired. It would be easy to be bad. But it is way more difficult to be good. Like when batman said in the red hood movie I want to kill the joker but I know I won't stop if I take this path.
If you think people find good superheroes boring then there was an article who shockingly said now that is seems like luke skywalker who is a conventional hero like superman is actually quite popular.

IMHO(!) The only thing truly bad about Batman v Superman was the CGI monster that showed up at the end...
the movie was OK for most of it but that shit CGI monster send the movie into Saturday Morning Cartoon territory for me, suspension of disbelief just thrown out the window at the last minute.
Justice League with its main bad guy being a dumb CGI monster was so much worse.
I do not go watch LIVE ACTION Super Hero movies to feel like i'm watching a Saturday Morning Cartoon.
I generally don't mind CGI, it only pisses me off when it is so fucking obvious that it takes me out of the movie.
The CGI here was worse than Jar Jar Binks and Episode 1 is from 1999!
I'm not a comic uber nerd, i just want to see entertaining movies, i got no problem if they tweak things from the source material or whatever... but there is no exuse for shitty CGI and your Super Hero Movie is only as good as your Villain, if your main Villain is a cartoon, then your entire movie might as well be a cartoon.

I love when people point to the "martha" scene and think it makes them look smart for calling it stupid when it actually exposes them as having a low IQ. The very first scene we see in the movie is Batman saving a little girl from Zod's rampage. When he saves her and realizes that he didn't manage to save her parents he realizes that he's created another orphan who will go through the same suffering he did. When Superman revealed that his mother was in danger, it made Bruce realize that Superman losing his mother could be the trigger for him to take on the same dark path that he's on. Hearing Martha tells Bruce that not only is Superman human, but that this time he can stop another orphan from being created.
There are plenty of things you could complain about in BvS, like the hamfisted jesus imagery but "Martha" is one of the smarter and more subtle parts of the movie. It's so smart that dumbasses like you to this day still haven't figured it out.

It feels like a secondary money grab because that's exactly what it is, make no mistake about that. You think all those guys making decisions in fancy expensive suits care what some fans want? Hell, Zack Snyder himself doesn't care what fans want, he was always more concerned about making his vision of a dark, gritty and violent and depressing world a reality rather than being faithful to the characters. The higher ups calling the shots don't care about the fans nor even for Zack for that matter, they just look at it as if they found a new gold mine as if the people who sign up for their streaming service just to watch this movie is going to stay signed up paying a monthly fee for years to come. Specially if it turns out the movie is still bad anyway. People sign up, watch the movie, love or hate it most will probably unsubscribe as soon as possible. Of course they then don't show the numbers of viewings or anything like that so they can claim it is a huge success even though they will probably still not make the money back that they spend on finishing this cut.

For whatever it's worth, as far as the film itself goes, I honestly agree with you ... I would argue that they brought him in far too late. Whedon would have been fine if it had been early enough to actually matter. It was almost impossible for any director to take a movie that is 75% or more done, rework it, and make it fit a completely new style and be good. The movie would have been far better if the two directors had been working together from the start-having a mix of darkness and humor would have worked far better than tone whiplash.
In the end, the issue in the Final movie wasn't Whedon. It wasn't Snyder. it was Warner Bros, who who basically fucked with the movie at every step of the process, during both directors' time.

Sarnoff gave a long, detailed interview to Variety and since she has to answer to stockholders, she can't make up a bunch of BS and try to pass it off for fact the way this joker does on his channel. Everything she says is subject to legal action, so you can be sure she gives a straight answer.

My opinion hasn't changed. We were _never_ going to get a good Justice League film out of Snyder, because Snyder doesn't like these characters. At best, we'd get something like Josh Trank's original vision for Fant4stic, a decent-ish action film vaguely inspired by the Justice League. I've no doubt the Snyder Cut will be more coherent, but that doesn't mean it'll be any _good._ Fans have really shot ourselves in the foot on this one. There isn't really a good outcome here - if the Snyder Cut makes money, then we'll get more dark'n'gritty deconstructionist shit. If it doesn't, the DCEU takes another body blow, and we'll get fewer interesting films.

Damn, those last two sentences. I think those might be the most important factors people are taking for granted. I think there's room for every type, style and tone of film. But, there is such a thing as too much of the same thing for too long. That's what killed westerns and what hurt superhero/comic book films post-Batman 89 until the MCU/Nolan era. There were definitely some gems prior to this era, but arguably some of the best modern comic book films came out during and after this timeframe.
Most of the films that unnecessarily went hard on the dark, angsty, hyper-serious, grounded subject matter during this period have either under-performed or were critical train wrecks. It's not that the styles don't work. They were either used with characters not immediately conducive to that storytelling style or the styles were poorly implemented.

Indeed, no matter what outcome fans of the new DCEU Joker and The Batman lose
but if Snyder fans win the whole shill media will burn.... so... I guess we can apply the enemy of my enemy is my friend rule here.

The SnyderCut is just a huge cashgrab and undermines the movie universe. I was never a friend of Zack Snyders movies. They are too hectic, they are to dark, they involve too many destruction and deaths and the sets are too complicated. Not to forget that every character is bad tempered, nasty, brutal. After any movie I saw from him I was left with the feeling of "finally over"! I can't believe that they decided to give the DC movieverse this dark tone without any light hearted characters I could relate too. I don't care for "heroes" who kill, brandmark or destroy things just to bring down another guy with the same attitude. I don't need a completely naive friendly Superman like in Christopher Reeve era but I need a Superman I can look up to with some funny lines and smiling about it.
And so I hated "Man of steel" and even more "Batman v Superman" where DCs most prominent heroes fight against each other.
And here comes Joss Whedon's version of Justice League with some nice oneliner gags. I wish they would have given him the job as director first place.
No, I don't have any interest of watching another darker version of the movie. I would rather see a version with all Zack Snyder scenes removed and reshot with Whedon's vision of it.
Maybe I am too old for such things but what is wrong with the film industry?
We are supposed to sympathise with bad guys in "Suicide Squad", "Joker", "Hayley Quinn", "Punisher" and now they even make "Justice League" a collection of baddies? I suppose they even wanted Aquaman, Cyborg, the Flash and WonderWoman to be dark.
Nothing I would pay for to watch.

I'm not the biggest fan of the plot details in Snyder's DCU, but I did absolutely love his take on the characters. Handling Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as weighty, mythological figures channels their portrayals in Kingdom Come and Dark Knight Returns - which is some of the best they've ever been. Treating the DC roster as just strong people globetrotting to stop bad guys really robs them of their stature, and plays more heavily into the Marvel lineup's strengths.

DC fans as a whole have a tendency to go for and cheer on specific writers and creators, to the point where determining fan consensus on things like weather Snyder is awful or not, much like how there are people who think Geoff Johns is the best writer DC currently has (like me) and people who think that Geoff Johns is one of the worst writers ever.

AT T has made a very brave move, and deserve to be commented... ofc the Snakes and the Slimes will ofc try to say otherwise...
Lets show that AT&T was right to stand by the fans and to correct that injustice that was made to Snyder...
Too bad WB and DC don´t like it... AT&T is the owner... they can do what they want... they paid for all the companies... SO Such it up... Not happy Toby? The door is just ahead...
