You do realize it’s just for post production the actors not coming back to shoot any new scenes. They letting Snyder finish up CG for scenes and they doing ADR for vocals to finish lines. So basically the 20 30 million WB gave Snyder they’ll make close to a billion for deleted scenes

@@travionjohnson3975 you don't know that for sure. Henry Cavill and Jason Momoa are really good friend with Zack Snyder and would probably come back to shoot a few scene's. Well to be fair, its more like AT&T listened to fan feedback. Like Andre says in the video. They want hype for HBO Max. They see people are hyped about the Snyder cut and they see fans are willing to spend a whole lot of money (buying billboards that said #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, flying planes around the WarnerBros HQ, raising money for charity) So yeah, its true that this is a corporate interference, its more driven by fans. BvS director's cut was much better than the theatrical release, but no cut or recut can change the fact that Snyder's vision for DC just doesn't fit. I wonder if the internet had been around longer, would there have been a push to get the director's cuts of other movies that got screwed over by studios? We've gotten some of that like with this, the Donner cut of Superman 2, the assembly cut of Alien 3, but what about stuff like Superman 4, where that movie had like a third of it cut by the producers because they wanted it to be screened more times a day to get as much money as possible.
How about Batman Forever, where the movie was much darker before Warner Bros. wanted to make it more family friendly after the backlash against Batman Returns being so dark. Hell Schumacher even asked if they could do a 10th anniversary director's cut for the DVD boxset and WB wasn't interested.
And I highly doubt Disney would ever release the 'Abrams' Cut' of The Rise of Skywalker, because that story and the Sequel Trilogy as a whole is just so bad there's no saving it.
What about The Crow: City of Angels, that movie was butchered so badly by Harvey Weinstein in editing that the writer disowned it while director couldn't bring himself to ever make a movie again because of the heartbreak.
Hell, even the Thomas the Tank Engine Fandom (kind of like bronies, but they've been around even longer) have been pushing for a director's cut of Thomas and the Magic Railroad for over a decade, since it got screwed over by the studios, as the trains' voices were redubbed to sound less British, nearly half an hour was cut and an entire villain was removed because he terrified toddlers in the test screenings.

    • @Dreaminggeekzone
      @Dreaminggeekzone 4 роки тому +5

considering there's more of a superhero fandom with this generation things wouldn't have changed much since there would be far less emphasis to even consider making a director's cut for a small minority of fans.

    • @georger64

I basically agree, though not every director‘s original vision is an improvement. I waited so long for the not color graded version of Dracula 79, to finally see that film in the version I saw it 40 years ago. We‘ll never get the theatrical versions os the Star Wars OT. I know very little background about Superman IV, but I doubt thereös anything to be salvaged there, it was such a dud; I saw it at the time, and never wanted to even think about it again.
Also, think of what a small but very noisy group like the Reylos could do to movies. I shudder to think...

Re: Forever- That's what the fuck they should be doing. Fuck Snyder and his stans. Forever deserves a director's cut. I'd encourage fans to make like the Thief and the Cobbler and just do the cut themselves but apparently laziness and unwillingness is the name of the game

    • @hciapetus1251

I honestly don’t see the problem with releasing different cuts of movies. I have three different cuts of Blade Runner, and I like them all.
BvS should have proven the studio suits that they shouldn’t meddle too much when it comes to storytelling. I watched that movie in theaters and knew midway through that I wasted money because it was an incomplete story. While the ultimate cut isn’t special, I don’t consider it an awful movie. It just feels more complete, especially with Lois’ arc.
Justice League needs a release like the Snyder cut. The tone of the theatrical cut reminds me of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, where it goes from dark to light tones too fast.
Also, I’m glad you mentioned The Crow City of Angels. My gawd, when I heard about the meddling, I screamed internally. The director had a great vision for that movie and I want to see it. The same with Blair Witch 2; everything I hated about that movie were things the suits forced on the director.

THE AVENGERS (1998) starring Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, and Sean Connery was cut to bits. For example, during the chess scene, the characters are dry, then soaked through, then dry again... with no explanation! I'd love to see that film restored. Steed & Peel! 😀
Regarding BATMAN FOREVER and Batman in general, anything that gives us more Dickie-Boy Grayson is alright in my book!

You got one thing wrong which everyone seems to get wrong, the original 2.5 hour Snydercut is not a work print. It was fully colour graded, ADR was done and most of the effects were done. I understand it was around 80-90% complete. Not done, but perfectly watchable and could have been dropped.
Needless to say I'm happy we are getting something far better than we ever imagined... instead of that compromised vision we are getting the 4 hour version which is Zack's true vision for the film.

@@LandStrider23 D&D are to blame for ruining Game of Thrones and Snyder is to blame for messing up the "DCEU". Snyder is delusional and was making Warner lose money. Man of Steel was barely profitable, Batman v Superman couldn't even pay itself off... then he wanted Justice League parts 1 and 2 without even making a Batman solo movie. Batman's development only happens off-screen and I couldn't even buy Batman's reason to fight Superman because it's stupid. It's not like Batman's actions never backfired and had innocent people killed. Also, why the hell would Bruce Wayne would leave Gotham only to have a meeting? That makes no sense when he could just send someone else in his place since he hates the idea of leaving Gotham even if for a few hours or a day. And it's even worse that Snyder turned Batman in a random killing machine.
Do you know why the whole "Martha" scene didn't work out the way Snyder wanted besides being anticlimatic? It's because Batman giving up on his idea of killing Superman was supposed to the moment he remembers why he became the fucking Batman. Bruce Wayne didn't become Gotham's vigillante to kill people but to save innocent lives, to never be the guy who would take away the lives of a child's parents. But then the fucking Batman is back killing people! That's so stupid it ruins his "redemption" moment.

In 2012 somebody informed Paul Anderson they found the cut on VHS tape so it does technically exist. yes Wan made Aquaman pretty great/fun and worked well with Momoa but Gal is a bit of a rake with C grade acting, Ben is a brilliant actor but looked muscle bound with a big head for a punching bag and could have been in his slimmer physique from the Town and actually have looked lithe and agile, Ezra is not great at all, Fisher is alright but not magnetic (no pun intended) and I find Cavill to be quite wooden whether its in Mission Impossible, Witcher (great show) or MoS. he has model type looks and british charm as a person outside the films but somehow his clark comes across more wooden than Routh's when Rouths was *tasked* to be Wooden
loads of Snyders decisions showed contempt for fandom paired with poor understanding of the characters. his social media posts that got everyone excited were mostly name drops of characters but I don't have much confidence these characters will be proper versions of their original template

@@chesterstevens8870 To be fair, The Avengers (2012) was only 4 years after the first MCU movie which was Iron Man (2008). It wasn't a decade and a dozen movies. It was the sixth movie after a selection of solo movies about the main cast of the first team-up movie, something the people at WB don't seem to understand because they wanted to take the shortcut and basically released a semi-Civil War movie as the second in the franchise with characters whose DCEU iterations were mostly unknown to people - which in itself caused confusion how this Batman was a total psycho and lacked most of his ingenuity as the world's greatest detective.
The reason The Avengers works is because the story is understandable and the stakes are clear, the visuals are top notch, the characters are likable and similar to their comic book counterparts and the banter between them is good (which is all Whedon). WB blew their load by introducing Doomsday in BvS and then having the third mainline movie revolve around "Mother Boxes" which in itself was a poor attempt at copying the Tesseract situation. And having a god-awful main villain.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Snyder Cut is going to be a total shitshow. That man is 100% style over substance and has basically ruined almost all of the DC heroes, just because he wanted to do a different take from the bright, colorful Marvel movies.

Food for thought, SW-TESB is also not grimdark. It tells a story of struggle and revelation.
BvS... is. Or at least takes a page out of the Hollywood corporate play book where the people giving out the money to make these films think things need to be gritty and realistic... And as a result, we don't get Superman, but Bat-Superman.
More food for thought, Justice League showcases how Snyder's use of colour grading favours the darker palettes, as the released version's colour palette is off-putting. But when you put the footage into a video editor and change the palette back to dark, the image looks more co-ordinated as elements of the shot intended to be in shadow disappear, drawing the eye to where the director wants the eye drawn. The release the exec's proved the proverb, 'to many cooks', does not work, except where Whedon's re-shoots are dropped in.
The film did need just one director, I'm not saying otherwise. But Whedon has the better grasp of what a Superhero is, and how to bring them to the big screen. He proved this in A1 and A2. But i agree, the Russo's did improve the MCU... But nly after Whedon's ground floor entry and introduction to these characters as a team was already released that made them popular.
Though, learning that Snyder had plans for a two part film, I am prepared to say, that maybe... had he had more time to develop these characters his way, with the extra time, maybe he could have found the voice of these characters. But I am sceptical after seeing how Snyder got the character of Pa Kent so wrong, to the point that people cannot see where Superman got his warmth and humanity from, and in allowing his father to die so that the barrier Pa Kent was developed as in that movie could be removed so that Clark could then connect with the more heroic father figure of Jor-El. Again, I see where Snyder was coming from. I am merely saying Snyder missed the mark in faiing to understand the characters, and instead caved into Hollywood's desire for Dirty Harry style hero's, that many in the Justice League, simply aren't.

They will get a whole bunch of new people to sign up for HBO Max...great information. Don't know how you get your reporting but this makes perfect sense...

I don’t expect the Znyder version to be blow the version we got our the water, but it should be an interesting watch nonetheless.

Andre, that was just a fantastic analysis. Keith and I had said, it would be insane to launch the "HBO Max" without it, because, as I said on the show, "They ain't got nothin'." I mean, even the name they picked, "HBO Max" is dumb and in no way describes that it is their Warner Bros catalog. But, with this new film, I see good things for the future. that and eventually firing Berlanti or tamping him down a bit. Because they could be getting killer ratings with someone in charge who loves comics and doesn't just say they love comics but then does everything in their shows to prove they are lying.

Someone took the clip of Cavill where his mustache was removed with CGI, and deepfaked Cavill's actual face onto it, which actually made it look a little better. I have a suspicion that if they deepfaked his face onto the actual mustache version, it would look near flawless.
