I think we should all be prepared for multiverses to be the new "cinematic universe." Hollywood always chases trends, and a movie multiverse seems to be what's coming next. Marvel is going there, DC is going there, and who knows what else. In a way I'm cool with it. There were certainly things from other iterations that were good. The problem is it could very easily get out of hand, and very likely will because Hollywood has proven they have no impulse control. If they can keep in their pants, so to speak, it has the potential to be really cool. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
I've said this all the way from the beginning before these movies were even released the first time...if Jared Leto's Joker is secretly Robin's version after being tortured and driven crazy and having it out for Batman, then it's totally fitting and in character and genuinely portrayed by Leto. If, however, this version is the original and main Joker and the only one that ever existed in that universe, then it really is bad. It's amazing how the potential difference in story completely changes the whole outlook, but it really does. Probably works this way because this Joker as it stands feels like he exists as an incomplete figure. The story of him being the 2nd Joker from Robin adds a whole legitimate dimension to him.
I don't like the implication here. Overall we have two competing Jokers, at least two competing Batmen, and a Batwoman TV franchise that no one really cares about, due to it being too woke with metapolitics. What a weird move. I find it hard to imagine that they've called back enough of the other Justice League cast to have a Leto Joker have any meaningful integration with the plot; as such, it sounds like little more than a big middle finger to polarize the distinction of the Snyder cut from the theatrical release. It's hard for me to dredge up sympathy for Leto, given his antics; "passion" is not an excuse for making the set a miserable place for your fellow actors, especially when your part turns out to be so trivial to the piece overall.
I'll say it again, there's only 1 scenario where Leto's Joker works for me, and that is if he is a crazed Jason Todd* or Tim Drake. * Because I want to see Leto play Red Hood
At first when I saw Leto I couldn't believe my eyes, I thought it was a Redherring to reveal that he was Jason Todd (Basically the usual reveal) and made my peace. Then they didn't do that and couldn't believe how the bar has been lowered to this level. Now that they need to get rid of him they probably do it and make him Jason Todd but now I couldn't care less.
Leto's Joker not the real Joker, but a former Robin gone bad? That's actually an idea I could get behind. It would be the prefect explanation for why the Leto Joker feels so un-Joker-like.
I've said it before and I will say it again: Leto is NOT Joker. The only way I will see him as the Clown Prince of Crime is if a future DC movie confirms that Bat Fleck killed the original Joker and Leto just took up the mantle. But no one is going to have the balls to write that in.
Nah, just have it be that the real Joker set up Leto as a fake Joker while he is busy somewhere else, and Harly either was selling the lie very well or genuinely somehow convinced to think Leto is the real Joker. Even back in the original animated series, Joker always seemed to swing between genuine affection for her and moments of utter contempt. Best part, we get a chance for a better Joker and Leto gets to claim he was Joker again even if just to be replaced mid-film. Win-win, right?
It's really a amazing he's willing to return after everything. I hope he finds success with morbius and people liken him to Ben affleck and Ryan reynolds when they changed characters
I'd go with the former Robin gone off the rails. That would actually work (for me). The way that Batman looks at Robin's graffitied costume suggests he was killed. What a better twist that something happened to him by the hands of the real joker that made him go off the rails.
Jared Leto deserves one more chance in full movie as a joker He is so talented..I’m sure he will shut everyone’s mouth who trolled him in suicide squad as joker
I'm a little angry that Leto is trying to compete with the more talented and professional, even better written Phoenix's Joker. Anyways, I'm confident in my assumption that Leto and Snyder are going to embarrass themselves again with this miniseries.
Differences in Ledger' s and Leto's behaviors on set: Ledger: Didn't break character, but was still a nice person. Leto: Didn't break character, but was a complete asshole. Also, Ledger'd Joker always had that psychotically focused look on him. Lego always looked drugged up.
Man, this is the film that keeps on giving. The salt from the people who cried about toxic fandom, the salt that will come when this cut ends up sucking anyway and Leto coming back to give us more to mock.
After watching the movie, Jared Letos Joker in Justice League was fuckin EPIC!! I never thought I'd say this, but Jared's Joker specifically in JL is now my second favorite Joker in a live action film!! Its COMPLETELY different!! Hes legit creepy, scary, insane, but also with a twisted sense of humor. I absolutely HATED his version in TSS!! But now, I wanna see a lot MORE of it!! I'm seriously blown away by how good he is in JL!! He's my second favorite Joker now.
It is hard to imagine a world where Leto's joker is seen as a serious contender. But if we take the point that he was never really used since Snyder left the production just sidelined then there has to be the chance. However i do not think it can be done in the Snyder cut because it will have too much focus elsewhere to give the depth needed to turn peoples thoughts around on his joker. Could i envision a series of events that this could happen with maybe, could i see value in it i would have to say no because at this point i think we are all a bit fed up with the batman origin and fighting joker story line because of how many times it has been rebooted by hollywood recently and that will hamper any attempt to revive him on top of starting on the back foot for the character.
Honestly, I asked how would Leto's Joker even work in the JLSnyderverse but this actually would work in the big picture....Could be making amends between the Batfamily and hopefully opening up Jared Leto as The Red Hood
@@distinguishedallureproduct879 The dead and only robin is Dick Grayson, something Snyder was so adamant about it became one of the major issues between him and Johns/the Studio, with the only potential future robin going to be Carrie Kelly (my personal least favorite robin next to Stephanie Brown). In addition the sequence of events wouldn't work with him having been even Dick (who is dead) as that Joker is explitly been said to have been the one to kill robin (why do you think he has busted teeth). On top of all of that it'd be rather strange to have had a Robin that was only a couple years younger than Batman.
I still can't believe they gave Snyder control of a cinematic universe. He couldn't be more of a wrong choice, none of his strengths as a filmmaker translate to that task.
Surprising how after he was announced to be coming back for this I saw multiple articles that all described how Leto's Joker was actually brilliant. Funny how that happens.
The idea that Leto's Joker used to be Robin and was turned insane by the "real" Joker, honestly sounds like one of the coolest twists ever. That would make a scene between Affleck & Leto even more amazing -- they were partners and now they're enemies.
The way i have looked at The Joker is that each tv series/movie series has it's own unique version & that the Pheonix was the original who made the mould, if you like, who was copied by the crime lord, from which ever series you want to pick from & they only "based themselves" on him.
Leto returning is a bad sign. As a fallen Robin filling a void left by a missing Joker? That could be interesting. I just can't accept him as the genuine Joker.

I'm gonna be honest, I really like the trend of embracing badly reviewed media and incorporating it in a new and fresh way. Case and point, the Suicide Squad. The previous terrible one is still canon, but they're breathing new life into the ip by giving it another go. They're not ignoring it like many franchises tend to do to their black sheep movies. I for one am really looking forward to this new interpretation of the Joker. Like they said, at worst we get what we've already had.
An arc within JL that showed a Robin becoming a Joker has some merit - and might explain why the 'Joker' we saw with Leto was so second-class, like a lesser trying to imitate someone far better. This of course would be a double tragedy as a Robin (such as Jason Todd) can never truly be a Batman. So some interesting work could be done here, but of course, I do remain cautious.
70% of the hate for Leto's Joker is the costume and tattoos, 20% the script and 10% is down to his cut scenes leaving his story incomplete.. Change those and people will warm to him. We never did get to see his actual character arc in Suicide Squad play out. He had more missing footage than anyone in that movie so the cutting room was just as much of an adversary to him as the wardrobe. The acting was fine, he has the laugh and the charisma, and his Best Supporting Actor Oscar win proves he canactually ACT. He just needed better than what Ayer gave him. Maybe Zack can bring out the potential.
Now that's what I'm talking about. Zack literally gave us the best Batman and now he's going to give us a better Joker compared to Suicide Squad theatrical cut. You think he'll have a redesign or will still look the same?
It's hard to get excited for lost scenes that still have the same aspects of a performance that wasn't too hot to begin with..i feel if the scenes were worth anything they would hav been in the movie.they probably was trying to do the best with what they had footage wise..leto just kinda had a dumb vacuous look behind his eyes.no sense of mystique, menace or pathos at all.
@@lordskywalker7825 Well James Gunn himself said that Ayer's Suicide Squad was phenomenal. There were also photos of Jared Leto looking like Joker from the comics. I'm just saying that we should give him another chance since he was criticized on his first appearance with very little screen time to explore his version of the character
@@redcat9436 I agree. While is true that he didnt choose the costume, or the tattoos, his performance was weak and cringy. He didnt feel like The Joker, but an edgelord dressed out as the joker. Reminded me of a friend who dressed as the joker once.
I like Leto as a actor and appreciate his totally different and unique take of the Joker character although i dont feel it delivered in Suicide Squad but its not a good film. Lets hope they can make some adjustments and deliver a much more interesting version of the Joker in the snydercut
The fact that the Leto's Joker was different than what audiences expected wasn't a big deal - Heath Ledger's version was something no one ever saw coming...
Only way Letho's joker is anything but joke (that i can see anyways) is to have him be the robin - one that stole bat's car. Much like Alexander was only acceptable way to have the Luthor in BvS, if studios lean into expectations rather than work against them it might be decent. But writing in DCCU is... well more holes than substance i would not trust they can make it right.
I'll admit I was captivated by his portrayal of the joker. It certainly wasn't boring. Wouldn't mind seeing him do more joker stuff in a movie. Didn't get much of that last time.
Bro. I loved Leto Joker. He was different. Gangster and chaos. He was feared in the DCEU. That's the vibe I want Joker to have in the DCEU. A scary menace that not even criminals will cross. But this is coming from a guy who loves all Jokers
It would be wise to begin treating Jared Leto‘s Joker as proper and accepted. He did earn his own fanbase, despite the behind-the-scenes post production malalignment of his performance. They are looking forward to finally seeing Snyder and Ayer’s inclusion of his full performance. It will reveal to all why he was truly hired for the role. The tide is turning. We were lied to by studio conglomerates, along with everyone else. Leto will be great. Trust this is the right move.
While Snyder’s visceral imagery of a buffet of DC iconic moments plays well with hardcore audiences, he really diluted epic nature of each hacked moments from Death of Superman, Invasion of Darkseid and Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. His work is nothing more than a cheap Himetown Bufffet served up on immaculate dinnerware. He wastes so much screen time with slow moron flashbacks and exposé (why recycle a quicksand of human remains from 300? It doesn’t fit even if it looks cool to the director). That being said, WB should have followed through with their original charter with Snyder. I hope the Snyder cut is something that Snyder can claim that WB studio interference had zero influence over. Go ATT. Make it happen
As much as I'm not a fan of Leto, Juggalo Joker was one of the things I minded the least about the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad. Mind you, my favorite Joker is from the animated series. So, I'm willing to give it a shot. It's not like the Snyder cut will have a great deal of direct competition(i.e. Western world produced narrative genre fiction) when it comes out. Beggars can't be choosers, may or may not be what I'm saying.
I was actually curious about the Snyder Cut and was planning on subscribing to see it. Unfortunately, I loathe Leto’s Joker, therefore I’m steering clear of the Snyder Cut. I once again couldn’t care less, yeah, he makes me that nauseous.
The "damaged" tattoo was a bit too on the nose(honk). The Joker has always been some sort of clown incarnation but Leto stepped away from baffonery into the realm of the 'geeks' I think they are called. Basically people who do weird things to their bodies like hammer nails into their nose or tattoo their whole body like a snake as a part of their performance. Maybe this is why Letos joker feels wrong on many levels.
How about this? Phoenix Joker is DCEU Joker, tortures and corrupts DCEU Robin (Jason Todd), Robin survives and seemingly kills Phoenix Joker, takes up the mantle of Joker in frustrated with Batfleck, Batfleck becomes conflicted because of this and looses hope until he meets Superman, and somewhere along the lines it appears that Phoenix Joker survived as well and brings us to a new movie, hopefully after the much awaited Batfleck vs Manganiello Deathstroke, they can even build on this while Batfleck takes on Manganiello in his first official Bat outing!
The weird thing is....How is Leto's Joker even to work in JLSnyderCut? I can only see it being a Beginning Cold Open bringing us into the world(Kind of like Batman chasing the thug in the beginning) or a Cameo somewhere when Darkseid is destroying the world...it would make no sense for this Joker to even be a big player in the JL Film
I actually always felt that there was something interesting going on with Leto’s Joker, as bizarre as it was. What we got was just on the wrong side of the threshold of being able to actually make a call one way or the other. If we’d just been able to see some more actual characterization I’d be able to definitively come down on one side or the other. Maybe it sucked, and the opinion of the Collective is right, I just don’t know. There just wasn’t enough Joker material in Suicide Squad to make that call, so personally I’m glad he’s getting the chance to show me some more.
Same here! The strong acting performance and the little footage of it that ended up in the theatrical Suicide Squad cut was enough to get me interested in that figure and made me want to get to know more about him: What the fuck was his character arc that led him to become such an emotionally unstable, mentally ambivalent character? He seemed bipolar and borderline schizo, one moment cold as fuck, then near suicidal, and that would make him dangerous - especially when paired with his manipulative and sadistic traits. People get all hung up on superficial shit like the tattoos, outfit and hairdo. Frankly, I don't give a fuck. Why shouldn't he dress like that - if only to fuck with more traditional mobsters' heads, if only to recruit a younger and drugged out army of mad henchmen - any of that would be reason enough. Heck, the whole damaged act might be just that, overly obvious for the reason of being an act to mess with people's heads. That bar scene gangster surely underestimated him... In many comic versions, Joker is a master manipulator. Paring that with someone who is unhinged himself (or is he?) could make for some interesting social interactions, plot points and surprise action.
I never saw any of the DC films, so take my comments with a grain of salt. I know that DC has made a mockery of many of their attempts to emulate what Marvel did with their Cinematic Universe. And Leto - ASSUMING HE'S NOT A CREEP - deserves a second chance at the role. However, like what Marty said in the comments below, the fact that there's a *second* active Joker in the mix does led to some rather difficult complications.
I don't really think Leto was necessarily the problem in the 1st place? The writers have been all over the damn place! If the Snyder cut is excellent then the Joker in it will be too
They could easily fix Jerod letos Joker.... Have him take a couple more Ace Chemicals,Acid Baths.... And his tattoos should just wash off? And have him get a back ally front tooth implantation... instead of a outdated grill... Make him change his laughter.... And might just work?
I am not opposed to different takes on the Joker. We have had many so far that were good to great. However, Leto's Joker was indeed a step to far from the core of the Joker character. He felt like just another gangster. Perhaps more flamboyant. He wasnt an agent of chaos. He didnt bring fear. Unfortunately, I dont think there is anything that can make that character redeemable at this point.
I suspect this is more than just additional scenes being filmed. Probably also a truncated version of Snyder’s ‘Justice League 2’, as well. Leto’s Joker didn’t win me over (Batman has far too many underutilized great villains I’d rather see on screen), but I’m looking forward to it.

He can be redeemed. WB cut alot of his scenes out for Suicide Squad. Ayer said he would be a much darker Joker if not for the cuts.
As long as J J Abrams is kept well away from DC characters I am happy.
They'd have a hard time explaining his relation to Harley then, because Harley is the real Joker's girlfriend not some sad copycat.
Are they? Its Zack Snyder...
He IS Joker, Ledger and Wackeen AIN'T
@@Rei_Tatekei LOOOOL god damn where do you get your sense of humour from?
That opening card, with all the jokers, had me laughing so much 😂😂😂 Thank you for that 🙂
It's really a amazing he's willing to return after everything. I hope he finds success with morbius and people liken him to Ben affleck and Ryan reynolds when they changed characters
I'm actually the one person that didn't mind Leto's Joker, but what do I know...
Yes
Fr....i just need batman in the movie...i dont care who's in the movie
I'd go with the former Robin gone off the rails. That would actually work (for me). The way that Batman looks at Robin's graffitied costume suggests he was killed. What a better twist that something happened to him by the hands of the real joker that made him go off the rails.
Never throw good money after bad.
Never rub another man’s rhubarb.
Jared Leto deserves one more chance in full movie as a joker
He is so talented..I’m sure he will shut everyone’s mouth who trolled him in suicide squad as joker
it could be really cool if that is robin who becomes joker after joker tortured him and kept all those tatoos on him as marks.
I’m glad that they’re doing a multiverse. I liked seeing Tom Welling reprising his role in his brief cameo.
I'm a little angry that Leto is trying to compete with the more talented and professional, even better written Phoenix's Joker.
Anyways, I'm confident in my assumption that Leto and Snyder are going to embarrass themselves again with this miniseries.
Differences in Ledger' s and Leto's behaviors on set:
Ledger: Didn't break character, but was still a nice person.
Great to see Hugo's artwork show cased and credited. :-)
You get a like just for that !
Great rundown.....thanks!
Nope, no more chances, bring the better one back for the next ones.
Why do we need Jared Leto joker to return because this seems unnecessary and pointless.
For redemption.
@@alphareturns5988 i think so
After watching the movie, Jared Letos Joker in Justice League was fuckin EPIC!!
The Beavis and Butthead cameo made me laugh. Good one.
It’s bad when everyone likes the Lego version of Joker better than Leto
Leto as Robin, would make an interesting story.. even if he comes face to face with Phoenix as "The" Joker.. and has a redemption arc.
"Leto didn't like that. Not one bit." ICWYDT.
Gangsta joker lol
I still can't believe they gave Snyder control of a cinematic universe. He couldn't be more of a wrong choice, none of his strengths as a filmmaker translate to that task.
💯
No
Jared Leto's Joker will be better then the 2016 Portrayal but he won't be on Phoenix, Jack or Heath Level
Him being a Robin would be kinda cool though, not that he was a good joker but he did really commit witch i can respect in a way
The way i have looked at The Joker is that each tv series/movie series has it's own unique version & that the Pheonix was the original who made the mould, if you like, who was copied by the crime lord, from which ever series you want to pick from & they only "based themselves" on him.
Yey, the sound is fixed.
Leto returning is a bad sign. As a fallen Robin filling a void left by a missing Joker? That could be interesting. I just can't accept him as the genuine Joker.
That Bevis & Butthead clip took me by surprise.
😂😂😂
If Leto wishes to continue embarrassing himself, I will enjoy continuing to ridicule him
@@ByzantineCapitalManagement Me? I'm a best-selling author who gets more pussy than he knows what to do with, I don't think I'm able to be jealous of anybody.
Nope he is a great actor. It wasn't his fault for his bad performance. He has little to no screen time and a bad script.
The memes are pure gold. Just priceless😂😂😂
i like this idea of the multiverse, and that we can have multiple ongoing reiterations of the same character...
Rumor has it HBO is considering a kingdom come superman mini series with brandon Routh returning to his superman returns/crisis on infinite earths CW role. I'd be totally down with that.
I like the Joker from the Harley Quinn show.. He's a gangster and an ashole
An arc within JL that showed a Robin becoming a Joker has some merit - and might explain why the 'Joker' we saw with Leto was
so second-class, like a lesser trying to imitate someone far better. This of course would be a double tragedy as a Robin (such as Jason Todd)
can never truly be a Batman. So some interesting work could be done here, but of course, I do remain cautious.
I didn't mind what little we saw of Leto's Joker. Reminded me of batman beyond joker just upgraded for 2020
70% of the hate for Leto's Joker is the costume and tattoos, 20% the script and 10% is down to his cut scenes leaving his story incomplete..
100% of my dislike is for his performance. It can't be salvaged.
Leto not being the real Joker would explain all of the tattoos
I like the idea of DC just going crazy with the properties and doing whatever the eff they feel like
Probably just a post credits scene w Deathstroke and Lex forming the Legion of Doom
I'll admit I was captivated by his portrayal of the joker. It certainly wasn't boring. Wouldn't mind seeing him do more joker stuff in a movie. Didn't get much of that last time.
That wasn't even the original version the Joker we saw was reshot
Bro. I loved Leto Joker. He was different. Gangster and chaos. He was feared in the DCEU. That's the vibe I want Joker to have in the DCEU. A scary menace that not even criminals will cross. But this is coming from a guy who loves all Jokers
Jared Leto be like "I'm the joker baby!"
Dial it back. These are movies, not a religion.
@@wasteoftime5848 For artists who work in the creative process, it is indeed a culture and a way of life. Bite me, bitch.
@@MatthewJWilliams2005 The hook was clearly baited with stupid and you still took a big ass bite. The end.
I liked The Leto Joker and was very much looking forward to more.
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I too also read somewhere that Leto’s Joker was really a brainwashed Robin.
I thought it would be cool to show Leto as Robin in the past, playing his two performances off each other.
If Zach Snyder can redeem Jared Leto's Joker, I will truly believe that "a man can fly".
AT&T can do a Three Joker storyline and well... I don't want to spoil anything about that mini-series
Jared Leto Joker mailbox surprise™
Would be awesome if they could finally put the Leto-Joker to rest by turning the Justice League edit into an Injustice one. Could only wish.
PLEASE!!! MAKE HIM A BRAINWASHED ROBIN ... Then he can come back as Red Hood or something (after his brain is set straight)
Joker is an avatar of Chaos. He isn't always consistent in the comics. Hell, HE doesn't have a consistent origin!
If the Snyder cut is excellent then the Joker in it will be too
And you thought Disney's management of Star Wars was bad. The DC Extended Universe makes it look godly!
They could easily fix Jerod letos Joker....
Have him take a couple more
Ace Chemicals,Acid Baths....
And his tattoos should just wash off? And have him get a back ally front tooth implantation... instead of a outdated grill...
Make him change his laughter....
And might just work?
All that back story was so unneeded. Leto is playing Hunter Biden with under aged girls. Cast him off.
Could be a set up for a Batman movie of the Three Jokers.
Would be nice if they spin Jason Todd's Redhood on to Grayson as Joker
I suspect this is more than just additional scenes being filmed. Probably also a truncated version of Snyder’s ‘Justice League 2’, as well. Leto’s Joker didn’t win me over (Batman has far too many underutilized great villains I’d rather see on screen), but I’m looking forward to it.
