Just a mild correction on game 3 (spoiler block) It was a 5 pool, not a 6 pool. When you 5 pool, you have enough economy to make 2 more drones while the spawning pool is building, so you end up with 6 drones when the pool finishes. When you 4 pool, you only have enough economy to make 1 drone, and end up with 4 drones when the pool finishes. The advantages of 4 pool are that you hit 10 seconds earlier, and don't get supply blocked for ages so can send waves of followup zerglings. The advantages of 5 pool are that you get two more drones, and still have exactly 3 supply left to make 6 zerglings immediately putting you at precisely 9 supply. But you'll notice Saber does an extractor trick after making the 6 zerglings. To the best of my knowledge there isn't really a 6 pool build. The numbers just don't really work out, you need an overlord before the pool finishes. You might as well 7 pool, it hits at about the same time.
@@yallimsorry5983 OK... I guess only some of us knew he was just speaking rapidly and was probably just getting confused with the 6 pool from SC2, which is notorious and well-known. Anyone who has played Zerg in SC melee mode at all knows 4 pool is the fastest because you're just mining with your starting drones and starting a pool at 200... I didn't know that many people would not know this and would need it painstakingly mansplained to them.
Motive didn't immediately start a new forge after the one at his natural got killed. That's a really big mistake and couldn't start any canon until the lings were at his door step again. Love the desperate hydra drop of the game 2... shame Saber wasn't on top of his economy more though. If he was at 35 drones before the DT started cleaning house, it would have been less of an all-in. He'd still be behind, but not fully dead afterwards.
@14:05 it's different when the bright lights come on. Were you trying to say tunnel vision? I completely agree. I love starcraft because how competitive it is. It reminds me of playing sports. Thanks Artosis.

zealot is the strongest early game out of the 3 races. but the thing with early zealots it that if they dont do enough damage it really slows down your tech
Zealots are so stupid. If a protoss is panicked they just start pumping out zealots like crazy doesn't matter if its vs zerg or terran. Even at the higher levels of play you see it.
@@Ziegfried82 zealots are key to protoss against almost any ground play of any race. Without zealots, even at late game, Zerglings and Hydras would destroy. Same vs terran, Zealot are 100% key to break tank lines. Since tvp revolves around tank counts most of times, zealots are super important. Pvp is other story.
maybe there WAS something to SK's 7 pool. kind of wonky off tempo, how much do I actually need to hold. Math gets a little murky right? Maybe it'll force forward building placement out of meta, like protoss moved back forward terran placement?
Concussive wasn't necessary. Ghosts take way too much tech for how weak and flimsy they are. The friendly fire was a must though with how insane siege tank and spider mine can be. And I think the upgrades showing for terran and not for zerg was intentional..not a mistake. Whether that was actually good design is questionable.
@@Ziegfried82 Concussive wasn't "necessary," but you would have to completely rebalance firebats and vultures if it didn't exist. Imagine vultures doing 19 damage per hit to tanks. Or firebats mowing down hydras and lurkers. Ghosts are bad units, but they make more sense in the context of the game as it existed at the time. People played on slower speeds on maps with fewer resources, so having a few lockdowns was much more impactful. And most people were not good enough to reliably dodge nukes. Nukes are also better in other game modes besides 1v1, especially in FFA. And they are super relevant in the campaign. Not everything was balanced for 1v1 melee on fastest speed on 2-4p maps with size 128x128 or 96x128 with a main with 9 patches of 1500 minerals and one geyser of 5000 gas and a semi-protected natural expansion with 7 patches and a gas, which is how 100% of games are played today.
Question: Why doesn't Protoss always start 2-gate opener with zealot pressure? Against both Terran and zerg, is seems to be a pretty powerful build. At least from this perspective, it always seems to set the opponent way behind?
Do you wish Blizzard had added building upgrade animations in SC Remastered? I imagine pros preferred not to. But I feel things like this could have been a decent addition, as it's one more thing to pay attention to and that show player skill.
That would be a really big change at the highest levels of play where people know the timings of upgrades. Too big of a change, you may as well rebalance ghosts at that point.
Blizzard talked to a lot of pros when deciding what changes to make. The message was pretty clear: _no_ balance changes. Or at least as close as you can get. Obviously there are some balance implications for widescreen, etc., but not much. Probably the biggest balance change was to Valkyries I guess, but those literally didn't work correctly before, so it was basically a bug fix.
This game is still so popular outside Korea only because this man puts so much love and effort into his casts.
Can we take yet another moment to appreciate the SC Broodwar music? It's SOOOOOOO good...and it NEVER gets old...idk why I love it so much.
Especially Terran 😅
It has this alien feel. Blizzard in general lost their touch to create an atmosphere ever since WC 3.

I look forward to these everyday. Thanks for being the GOAT caster!
Same! These games are a highlight of my day! Love your content Arty

whoa this comment made me think I was watching Tasteless for a sec!
I can only imagine the moment of dread when you're doing 300 apm macroing and then you go back to your base to realize every single drone is gone 😂
Motive is playing some inspirational pvz. Really clean. Love the casts artosis, watch the uploads every day.

Great games! Never boring to watch these two play.

That Dark Templar in the 1st game probably got 30+ drone kills XD

6 pool was a build a *long* long time ago. But yeah, it's not very good. I think people stopped using it around 2000.
You really think Artosis needed all of that explained? "It was a 5 pool, not a 6 pool." would have been sufficient...

Fire cast as always
In Starcraft, suffering a few extra worker deaths in the early game so easily snowballs to a loss, doesn't ever seem to be the case in high level SC2.

It's absurd that 1 zealot walking into a zerg main can be such a threat

Four lings walking into a main is significantly more dangerous for the same cost.
