Great video ! My alternator rubber band broke, I changed it but I am not sure if it will break again, maybe I should also change the part that you show here ? Maybe I wait that it breaks again to be sure ?
You don't have to remove the Tensioner Pulley, Just put the 17mm on it to remove tension the same way you do to put the belt on. The Alternator bolt will slide right out past the pulley. (Work in progress... ) Thanks for being here for moral support! Lol
Did you have any fault codes or issues after installing? I replaced my alternator and soon after installation I received a message on the dash saying auxiliary voltage converter malfunction. I got a new converter and now the alternator doesn’t charge the battery... not sure what to do now. I can’t seem to find a alternator fuse or mention of a alternator fuse online. Any help is appreciated. Thx.
Be sure that the single wire that plugs into the alternator is fully plugged in, that the wires are good, not grounding out etc. I’m not referring to the battery wire that is held on with a nut. I’m referring to the smaller wire with a connector plug. That is the engagement wire. If it’s not plugged in it will not engage the alternator to produce a charge. Also check the alternator relay. I did not get any codes on this customers car, just the battery light.
Could be a coolant leak at the firewall. ? On the heater hose. It will leak while driving and not as much when parked. But you should notice a coolant puddle where you park. ?
How did you remove the oil cooling lines? the two in front of the alternator. I have the same car im getting a whining noise and it sounds like the bearings are going.
The two plastic coolant lines can be removed by pulling up/out the retainer clips and working the hose loose from the seal on the aluminum hose connector. For the oil lines...you just remove the one bolt holding both lines to the oil cooler. Again, you will have to wiggle, work it around to be able to get the hoses pulled out. I hope that helps. I'll check back just in case you have any other questions.
Im having issues trying to turn the alternator to get behind it, I got all the hoses off and the bolts and tensioner .. Can I turn the alternator with the plugs still on ?
Dave Merc You should be able to, I did. The main alternator power/battery supply wire may have to bend a little in order to get it to turn. After you disconnect the smaller engagement wire you should be able to turn it more or enough to reach behind the alternator to disconnect the main power/battery wire.
@@WarPonyAuto thanks it worked, I had to use a pry bar because it was to hard to turn. But it all went well. i appreciate your help and advice. Thank you god bless

I can’t seem to get the alternator “tilted” out. It budges a bit but does not come out.
I’m certain that you got but it does take sone wiggling and finessing to get it out and to get the new one in.
After replacement, are there any specific instructions other than connecting the battery prior to starting the vehicle?
Not on this model. Your battery is disconnected so it “resets” everything already.

Disconnect the cars main battery, remove converter then reinstall and re connect main battery and see if your problem still persists.
I got the same car 2015 c300 4matic haven't change it yet but the engine is heat and I have no clue to do wiz it

How many miles did you have on this 2015 W205 C300?
It has 58k on a new engine 👍🏽 It was replaced at 48k due to a broken connecting rod.
@@WarPonyAuto Thanks for the info! You have my condolences on what sounds like a piston 1 failure. Hope it was on warranty.
@@cupompa It’s not my vehicle. It is a customers vehicle. The owner bought a replacement engine through Mercedes after I diagnosed the issue.
