I, for once, honestly think the way Doc Ock was handled in NWH was one of my absolutely favourite things about the movie. Even when still possesed by the tentacles and confused by a different Parker, he still is the most intelligent and aware guy on the block. And the moment he is relieved of his torment, he turns to Peter asking how he can help and actually aids the Parkers with handling the multiverse fvckup in the final act. For me, they got Raimi-era Otto done right to a tee.
That's not really how he worked in that film, he was influenced by the arms, but was ultimately still corrupted, giving him the chip back would not really fix all his emotional problems.
@@fellinuxvi3541 yeah, I think he was just extremely grateful to Peter for fixing the control. Plus, Tony Stark's energy core is way better than the "power of the sun" he was gonna make to put in the palm of his hands. That was his whole goal.
I love how this movie was treated serious with the tone and didn't feel the need to throw in jokes in a dark scene. When a scene is dark, it stays dark, and I praise the movie for that.
what was so poignant about Toby’s Spider-man being the one to stop him was because he told Peter that he felt terrible regret about killing his uncle’s murderer. and he didn’t want to see this other, teenage him go through the same torment. the look they shared together spoke more than words ever could’ve. and then he got stabbed…
The scene where Peter's spider sense was going off like crazy and he had no idea what it was for was done incredibly well, that whole sequence might of been my favorite in the whole movie
That was one of the best uses of spider sense I've ever seen in any Spider-Man movie. Just the way the camera sticks to Peter as he's walking around, wondering why it's going off was so well done.
I would honestly just love a film where it’s just Tobey, Andrew, and Tom just discussing their past adventures for like 2 hours, I genuinely love those scenes that much.
One of the best parts to me is when Toby stopped Tom from killing Goblin. That face Toby made was something I've seen before. That face of "You are better than this". It just hit me bro
Nope. Goblin was a complete monster that 100% deserved to die and should've, regardless of whether Norman was gonna go with him. I get that Spider-People are supposed to be merciful towards their adversaries, but Tobey getting in the way was a truly stupid move that got the spell released and made MCU Peter lose everything. I completely expected *someone* to butt in and stop Tom from finally ending his most evil adversary yet, and that just made me even more disappointed when it happened.
What I really like about Spiderman No way Home was how integral Andrew and Tobey were to the development of Holland's Spiderman. It wasn't just a small cameo for fanservice sake, it served an integral part of MCU Peter's character arc, and also delivered solid emotional beats to their own stories. They felt like the same characters I grew up watching, with the same spirit and heart.
They did a really good job of developing Tom Holland’s Spiderman in line with the other ones *BIG SPOILER WARNING I FORGOT TO PUT IN THE ORIGINAL COMMENT* using the death of Aunt May (in place of Uncle Ben) and the other Spidermen as tutors, and then erasing all of his relationships to make him more independent of the relationships he developed in Avengers and particularly Stark Industries (ie it made him a viable standalone hero like the others). Very, very well done. Makes me excited to see the next Spiderman films as somebody who never gaf about any Spiderman films other than Raimi’s.
I really liked that Toby's Spiderman didn't let Tom's get revenge knowing it would eat him up inside like it did the other two when they got revenge for uncle Ben
The chemistry Tobey, Andrew, and Tom all have on screen is fantastic. They play off each other so well and I would absolutely LOVE anything with the three of them interacting. It all felt so natural and I honestly wanted more so badly
I really wouldn't be surprised to see all 3 of them cameo in Spiderverse 2 if Sony and Marvel decide to tie it to the MCU in any way. Tobey used to do the voice for the games, Andrew is a huge Spidey fan and clearly loves getting to be the character, seems Tom is going to be keeping the role for a while, I'm sure all 3 would be willing to do it if given the chance. They did have the Venom teaser as a post credits in the first one which makes it unclear if that means they are connected but if so, the MCU is already loosely connected to the Spideverse multiverse.
The only gripe I have is that Tom didn't mention how he was yeeted out of existance for 5 years. I wish he mentioned it and Tobey and Andrew would look at each other like what's up with this universe with weirdly named bands and purple aliens.
It would’ve been great to see him mention it to the other two, but I think I know an even better way they could’ve referenced it: I was mildly annoyed that Venom was absent the whole movie so instead of fighting the Sinister SIX it was the Sinister Five. I thought about it, and decided the best way to add a sixth villain would be Dane Dehaan Harry Osborn from TASM 2. There could’ve been some fun interactions between him and Norman, but he’d really shine in his dynamic with Peter. His entire motivation in TASM 2, at least until he turns himself into the Goblin, was not wanting to die. Telling Peter the story of how his Peter refused to help him would only make Peter more determined to save them all. It could even drive a starker contrast between Peter and Strange, who wants to send them home to die, given that Strange is an actual doctor. I imagine Harry yelling (probably more so at the adults than to Peter) “Do you know what’s it’s like to have your life cut so short? To feel yourself fading away? Know your death is coming and your powerless to stop it?” and then Peter shocks him by saying “Yes,” because he HAS died, along with half his universe.
@@hunterlawrence3573 I think they are saving the Sinister Six. Otto becomes good before Peter truly begins fighting everyone, and the Goblin feels like his own thing compared to the other 3 remaining villains
@@hunterlawrence3573 Venom made an "appearance" in the after credits scene and got sent back to his original universe. I say "appearance" in quotes because he's not in his classic venom form.
@@hunterlawrence3573 I thought that Kraven/Vulture was the best pick for the Sixth Member, but knowing the theme of villains needing to be cured, Dane DeHaan Harry makes the most sense. Sadly, the initial rules of the spell not including best friends, girlfriends, and aunts contradicts that.
I loved how they low-key joked about all the ridiculous origin stories those villains had. Well, basically the same, since they are all a victim of "science!".
The chemistry between Tom, Andrew and Tobey was my favorite part of the film by far, it was such a fever dream to see all three spidermen just bounce off each other and conversation with one another in a way that felt completely natural. The joke where Andrew and Tom flip their shit over finding out that Tobey's the only one of the 3 that can shoot out webs organically was one of my personal favorite moments in the film.
Not gonna lie, I was laughing during that moment. Solely because somebody behind me said "should have down that last time" and me, my friends and a few others couldn't help but laugh at that.
Same, in the trailer where Strange says "They're coming through I can't stop them" Thats when I thought they'd come in, join the final battle, and leave. I'm so glad I was wrong, they had a major part in this movie, especially Tobey Stopping Tom from killing Norman. That was amazing and actually integral to the plot and Tom's character. And Andrew getting his closure with Saving MJ, good god, this movie handled it so well.
The best part for me was the shot of Tom making the cure for Willem I believe, and then his spider-sense kicks in. The background voices are slightly muffled, and the camera never strays away from his face. This movie was so surreal and brilliant. I'm so happy everyone likes Andrew now. I always had a sense of love from the Amazing movies. I just love how goofy he is. AND THE ENDING WITH CLASSIC SPIDER-MAN ITS JUST SOOOOO GOOD.
I am so happy that they gave Andrew Garfield such good character and scenes (the part where he saved MJ for sure) considering how much he loves spider-man. He deserved it.
The energy in the theatre when certain characters showed up was honestly unmatched- I’m definitely going to see this movie again before it leaves the theatres
People cheered in my theater a lot of times, but i will always remember how many people cheered when Andrew caught MJ. Watching that scene and everyone’s reaction to it felt so good.
One of the things about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man that worried me the most was how young and immature he seemed to stay. Even intergalactic war and the death of half of the universe didn’t seem to grow him up at all. I was worried they’d never be able to make his shift into a young adult who actually understands the weight of responsibility attached to his gifts (a key element of any good Spider-Man story) feel believable or earned. But my god did they ever pull it off. This movie opened the door for a completely different Tom Holland Spider-Man and it did so just in time. Kudos to everyone involved.
To be fair, those 5 years literally didn’t pass for him so... He just got yeeted out of existence then immediately got drawn into that intergalactic war the moment he was back. Directly got poured down with all this pressure from the general public to live up to Iron Man right after the war, then with all the hate just a few months/weeks (?) later for the death of Mysterio. And that’s where No Way Home started. I think it makes sense that his character is still very much immature at the beginning of the movie.
He did have high stakes in the past but he was almost always just assisting the big leagues. And when the snap happened he was gone the entire time. So the main take away was the loss of Iron Man as a father figure. Basically it's very easy for the grand scale of things to go over your head at times, especially when they're so hard to comprehend and you saw almost none of the repercussions. Like he gets it on a basic level but I don't think he ever got to fully comprehend the scope of being an Avenger. Having this personal experience that lead to him losing so many things from his mistakes, even losing Aunt May despite him doing the right thing. It definitely forced Peter to grow up and become a "true" Spiderman like the other Peters that helped save him.
@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034 I feel like the key political conflict where they drafted him to help fight Captain America and the intergalactic conflict where they sent him to space to fight Thanos were already the kind of significant events that expand your worldview and force you to “grow up” a little bit. Even before the snap it’s kinda crazy how he took part in all of that and somehow came back exactly the same maturity-wise. Like wouldn’t all that stuff make you think a little bit? Change how you view the world and your part it in as a superhero a little bit? Maybe it just didn’t register until the losses affected him personally.
my favorite little moment was when garfield’s spider-man saved mj from the fall. when he has tears in his eyes and he looks so distraught, you can just *feel* the raw emotion of him previously failing to save gwen from a similar fall
100% the most emotional moment next to the 3 spidermen’s rooftop conversation and May’s death, just the pure joy and despair Andrew was conveying was just *chef’s kiss*
I see this as a movie for all fans to “unite”. Its like the one live action Spider-Man movie where certain fans dont praise Tobey to high heaven. Certain fans dont slam Andrew. Certain fans dont get shafted for supporting Tom. Everyone had fun, no matter which Spider-Man they love most
most people in the theatre: audible cheers and gasps when andrew appears me, still losing my entire goddamn mind from an hour earlier: THATS A REALLY GOOD LAWYER
I HAD THAT THEORY RIGHT AFTER GETTING OUT OF FAR FROM HOME AND I STILL SCREAMED BECAUSE I FORGOT MY OWN THEORY SINCE I WAS TOO FOCUSED ON TOBY AND ANDREW
My favorite line in the entire movie was when Andrew Garfield was like, "I love you guys" but Tom and Toby just went, "Thanks". I laughed so hard it was pretty embarrassing because nobody else did for some reason. Just perfectly summarized his feeling of inferiority to me.
One detail I have yet to see ANYONE talk about is how when Otto grabs all three Spidermen none of their spidey senses prevented it from happening. It was a dead giveaway that he was tricking Electro and a detail I feel I'm the only person who noticed.
@Qwerty Qwistle I respect the crew for making the best out of a difficult situation with Lizard and Sandman, they were pretty enjoyable throughout the movie even if they were limited CG characters with voice acting from the original actors
@@pigglesgoomshby7249 well, I’m pretty sure sandman’s and lizard’s character arcs were done and they were there just for the sake of them being there. It’s still good
I like how the movie's ending had actual consequences not just "yaay we stopped the bad guy" but some actual consequences. Easily one of the best MCU movies.
Sandman knows most of them dies, and only wants to go home as soon as possible. He also just doesn't generally trust people. The conflict is that he and the others don't leave until Peter takes his shot at "fixing" all of them, which tests Flint's patience. Once the villains turn on Peter, it basically hinders the plan, which pisses him off. In the final battle of the movie, Sandman is on neither side really, and is only going for the box so he can activate it himself.
That one scene where Andrew helps crack Tobey's back was totally unnecessary but idk I just loved it, two spidermans vibing and helping each other it's just so wholesome.
@@daniellins4114 When Ned calls out to peter, all 3 peters are confused and are pointing at each other because they don't know which peter Ned is addressing. " And the Mets were just mentioned by one of the characters I forget who though
@@daniellins4114 The Mets were mentioned by MJ over the phone call with Peter when they were both in bed. She was sarcastically pretending to care about sports.
What makes Tobey and Andrew work so well in this movie is that they're not just simple cameos. They're actually pretty important as supporting characters, helping Tom's Spidey through his journey. Heck, Andrew gets enough of his own arc that you could call the last half of this movie The Amazing Spider Man 3 in disguise. They put in the work to tie them in to the story and Tom's arc to the point where you could probably watch No Way Home with zero context of the previous versions and not miss any actual story beats. Some of the jokes require that context, but I think we can all let that slide due to the emotional weight of the story as a whole.
I have a loose understanding of the other two arcs through memes mostly, and still understood most of what was going on and knew who they were so yeah, they did good on that (unlike wandavision)
I’ve never watched either of the original two spiderman films and I understood the movie very well despite my lack of knowledge which I was surprised about. The only thing that was confusing was their names because there wasnt much clarification on who is who
yeah the cameos were well written and even someone like me who never watched the past spidermans' movies can understand what they had... granted tho I did learn more about them from reading fanfics
When a movie has problems, but it makes the veiwer say "but who cares", I think that is a sing of excellence. This was my fav MCU film. Spiderman is the best superhero.
I love how eerie and terrifying the scenes were when Tom’s Peter’s Spidey sense was going off. For both scenes, I was on the edge of my seat in the theater
A super cool detail I noticed is that during the spidey sense scenes above peter’s head is a subtle heat wave lookin version of the squiggly lines that signify the spider sense like in the comics and spiderverse
I loved how Matt Murdock showed up for just one scene, it solidifies him in the mcu, and it feels just like a comic book, where a character could just come in for a page and then leave. It’s perfect
@@ratdos You have a very cool dad Hell, all the people who flipped out for Matt are cool, Daredevil deserves the same spotlight as any other Marvel show, if more
Tobey’s Peter and Otto’s little conversation brought a tear to my eye especially with Elfman’s score Andrew was so good you can tell how much it means to him to play Spider-Man
The fact that Otto gets the arc reactor at the end, fulfilling his dream of acquiring a near limitless energy source for the world, is probably my favorite aspect of the movie. Shame, though, we got basically zero interactions between Octavius and Lizard Connors. Sure it's not the same Curt Connors, but I still feel like Otto would have expressed at least some bewilderment to the fact that his colleague and friend had become a giant lizard. He talked a lot about Norman, and as far as I know they had basically zero connections other than both being respected scientists, so why couldn't we have gotten some Octavius-Connors moments?
I didn't mind how long the three spidermen conversed because it was a delight to see them all invested in eachothers journeys and I think it's rewarding having them be so vocal about it.
Yeah watching all of them interacting with each other in such a brotherly way really got me it was heartfelt and very much like a mantle passsing to tom even though that meant aunt may dying. Which really hit more than uncle ben deaths cause we’ve been with her for a minute.
It trailed on kinda long but it's fan service I can get behind. I'm all for the spider-man bromance. Everything aligned so perfectly for this film, I'm so happy it shined light on Andrew Garfield spider-man and let us see villains redesigned
I loved it when they brought up Toby's spiderman shooting webs out of his wrist instead of having to make fluid like the other two it was the perfect amount of awkward and funny
The thing is that even though his movies are a bit lackluster, Andrew Garfield was always GREAT as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I am so damn happy to see him get SO much love after this movie.
Andrew's Spider-Man also ABSOLUTELY stole the show, you could tell he gave it his all because his performance is one of the best in the movie, particularly on the rooftop scene or when he saves MJ and redeeming himself after Gwen's death in TASM 2. Hell, he was even validated by Tobey's Peter after calling himself lame, he's truly done justice here.
Wouldn't say he "Stole the show" more like norman osborn/green goblin" did that alot more seeing how menacing he was and how much of a threat he was to tom's peter as he was the villain who effected him the most. Which I LOVED. They were ALL fantastic on screen but seeing how green goblin effected Tom's peter's life and psyche the most, that HAD to be the highlight there. A good hero can only be as good as the villain and damn Green Goblin was fantastic.
@@Gadget-Walkmen I agree that Willem Dafoe was absolutely magnetic in the movie and much more threatening than he ever was in the first Spider-Man. However, Andrew brought this level of emotion and vulnerability that was genuinely surprising when I thought they were just there for fan-service, you could tell he really showed up and put incredible effort. Both had the limelight at different points in the movie, I guess.
@@themadtitan7603 fair enough and well said. Thankfully NONE of the spiders were there for simply "fanservice" as they felt like real people whose lives were still on going even through the movie with their own personal issues.
@@Gadget-Walkmen Agreed, it felt like their implementation enhanced the narrative and Tom's own personal journey through out the film without detracting from it.
The audience around me burst into cheers as Garfield took his mask off, but they almost broke glass screaming when Maguire appeared. Also, it blew my mind the way Doc Ock went, a twist hero. That's the twist Disney actually needs.
Doc Ock could've easily returned to his evil ways but the screenwriters acknowledged his redemption at the end of Spider-Man 2 and it made me love this film even more. Can't help but feel like he's gonna become the superior spider-man next time we see him lol
when I watched it with my little brother and step brother, the theater was almost empty, like I must've seen 30 people max? when Toby and Andrew came in we started clapping and cheering. it was so awkward with so little people but we had the spirit xd ✨
I’m so glad that people ACTUALLY forgot who peter was, most movies have the characters remember the person who was forgotten, giving them a perfect happy ending. But it was different this time, because they didn’t remember him in the end. It just makes it better and it left me with a bittersweet feeling. Everyone had a happy(ish) ending except Peter...
Yeah it really felt like they’re setting Peter up like some of his comic depictions are , living in an apartment and basically becoming a man cos he changed so much and by the end he gave off a very mature aura
Bro by that point I had forgotten that Happy wouldn’t remember so I was like “oohhh ok what’s Happy gonna recruit him for” but then he pulls up with THAT line and it’s heartbreaking and I sobbed
Something I really appreciated in particular about this movie was the scene where Ned asks Tobey's Peter about his universe's "best friend." At first it just seems like one of those Marvel moments to lighten the mood during a dark part, but this time it felt like they committed to keeping it real. Sure, everyone in the theater laughed at it first, and Ned had his "supervillain" quip shortly after, but after a second viewing that scene was more sad than funny because I knew that the ending of the movie makes a scenario exactly like that one possible for them. It's the kind of slow-burn realization that I don't expect to get from Marvel that often (similar to the "I went for the head" line in Endgame)
@@bigboomer1013 Yep, it's entirely possible, although I don't know if they'll actually choose to go in that direction. Just thought it was a cool possibility opened up by that specific line lol
@@bigboomer1013 i looked more into it an Ned is actually Hobgoblin at some point in the comics. So its possible we can get a Spider-Man vs. Hobgoblin. That should be good
Bruh. DO NOT give me fear of our precious NED becoming DARK. The other two had the look, feel, and tendencies to be bad sometimes and then they went dark, evil. Ned is literally pure optimism and purity of belief in the good of others. I literally can't even imagine Ned playing the villain. It doesn't work for his character's personality. Nope, not gonna happen. Please I can't deal with it if it does.
One thing I really liked about this movie that I didn't think I would at first is how Norman smashes the iconic Green Goblin mask, but I really think it ends up working better for him. Willem Dafoe's acting is just so great and having no mask makes it to where we can appreciate his insane facial expressions better than ever. I went into this movie having not seen the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies or The Amazing Spider-Man duology in a long time (plus I hadn't even watched Far From Home before), yet I still had a great time.
Yeah, even though Osborn wears it in the comics, the mask was never the way to go for a movie version, bc no matter how you design it, it will rob him of his expressions and the portrayal of madness that comes with them. Personally I was a bit annoyed at first looking at the classic color scheme of his (in theory, randomly thrown together) leisure wear, but when the moment came and they turned it into his costume it worked so much better than the original green armor.
And I love that he went to this universes Peter for help. He finally stepped up to try and get help and stop the Goblin from hurting more people. Kind of frustrating that he never did that in the original movie, but that only heightens the emotion here. I was pretty much expecting him to be the Goblin the whole time, so I was very surprised but happy they spent so much time showing him as Norman Osborn
Willem Defoe actually wanted the mask smashed because he wanted to do all his own stunts. He specifically did not want to wear the mask and just use his own face, and you know what? It’s awesome.
i love that the ending brought spiderman back to his core. instead of being a kid who's living in the shadow of a hero he could never live up to, he's just... some boy in new york city, nobody too special, who's just doing what he can to help out the people. seeing that classic suit at the ending nearly made me cry.
That's good, but the ending is still stupid and not thought through. If nobody knows Peter Parker, he basically only started existing at the end of the movie, the consequences that would have on someones live aren't shown at all.
@@randomdude64yt i think not showing the consequences was intentional. peter KNEW that it was gonna ruin everything, but he still did it because he was willing to make that sacrifice as a hero. because of his sacrifice, he can finally go back to being that everyman, that kid who puts on the mask and changes lives because he just wants to make the world a better place.
@@cosmocha6774 I mean stuff like getting an apartment or even hoping to apply to a university would at least require some proof of having visited a school or having a social security number or even a credit rating.
It's funny how we all thought they just skipped the origin story when Homecoming first came out, but this whole trilogy WAS the origin story. I think it worked out pretty damn well.
That’s what I was thinking, everyone shitting on Tom’s Spidey because he was not spiderman, he didn’t have an origin story and was jusr Iron boy Jr, turns out the movies were building up to his origin. He “was not spiderman” because he still hadn’t found himself! He was just Peter Parker, now that everything happened he can finally be Spiderman, people just had to be patient.
@@DingusJoe64 I didn't think about that while watching, but I could see that being a possibility. Especially with the seemingly throwaway/comedic line about him never turning against Peter. And now, with him losing all of his memories...
There's foreshadowing for this in the film. "I get a tingling sensation in my fingers!" Strange: "You should probably see a doctor about that." And now he WILL see a Dr. about that.

Okay nobody is talking about one of my favorite scenes in the entire movie, the very end, where peter moves into a beat up old apartment with only a couple boxes of stuff, turns on a police scanner, sews himself a new spidey suit and jumps out the window to go fight some crime. like it was just pure peter parker and it made me incredibly happy
My favourite scene was the one before the big fight where the three spidermen were just talking. I actually loved that they didn’t rush from drama to drama, it felt really nice to have a little break and also made me care more about what happened to these characters
I loved the scene, but a small nitpick of mine is that it would’ve been cool to have Peter One tell the other two about Vulture and Mysterio since they knew very little, if anything, about his villains But again, scene is one of my favorites as it is
What makes the ending so important is that it turns this Peter Parker into his own person. He sacrifices everything he has and in the end, gets a crummy apartment, makes his own costume, and just keeps being Spider-Man. He’s finally free of the influence of the MCU because nobody remembers him. He’s on his own now. Just him, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
I felt REALLY bad for Electro in ASM so the way they gave the villains justice really made me enjoy the film overall. Also when Andrew got to catch Zendaya and redeemed himself, warmed my heart.
I like that, when they talk about their pasts after their films, Tobey's Spider-Man and MJ "make it work, eventually" and Andrew's Spider-Man succumbs to his anger. It so perfectly fits their characters: Tobey's Spider-Man was optimistic, but nothing was just given to him, of course his relationship would work, but obviously it was going to take some time and effort. Whereas Andrew's Spider-Man was (although a good person at heart) an edgy asshole, so, without his support network, it makes sense for him to start being more violent.
The "stopped pulling my punches" line by Andrew also feels really layered. For one thing, neither Tobey nor Tom questioned it or were surprised, which means they both know what he's talking about. They hold back too. For another, it feels like a reference to Superior Spiderman in the comics. In that storyline, Doc Ock swaps minds with Peter Parker somehow, and at some point gets into a fight with Scorpion in Spider-Man's body. His first punch knocks Scorpion's jaw off and kills him outright. He figures out in that instant that Spider-Man had always been holding back, and if he hadn't been, Doc Ock would've been dead dozens of times over. I think there may be an implication that Andrew's Spider-Man has killed some villains.
@@GlacialScion the Morbius trailer has a scene where he walks in an alleyway and a graffiti art showing Spiderman with "Murderer" on it. Maybe that confirms that the "Sonyverse" is continuing to build TASM world like they initially intended
@@hwanniggles187 sorry bit of a old comment, but I just got to be that one asshole that corrects everyone. anyways on to my correction, the spiderman in the Morbius trailer is Tobey's spidey not Andrews. so sadly, I don't believe that the sonyverse is continuing, at least not in Morbius.
Basically, Tobey was the idealized, iconic version of the character, kinda Superman-like, while Andrew was closer to the original Lee/Ditko and the rebooted Bendis/Bagley angst and "I'm better than you, so I'll joke around" attitude. So the way their characters journey went feels perfect, one ended figuring things out and the other, after spending time being bitter and angry started to figure himself out.
The ending shot of Peter in his new classic-looking suit, swinging through snowy New York City made me feel things. Excited to see where they take him next.
This movie felt like what the Rise of Skywalker WISHED it could be: An action-packed yet emotionally riveting thrill ride with real stakes and consequences along with many elements that pay homage to the original movies (without seeming like cheap fan service), while simultaneously tying the themes of the last two movies together into a satisfying conclusion.
NWH is a nostalgia served in a good way. All old villains could just be phoned in , but actors really did they best, and Dafoe is MVP. I still have a hope that he would play Joker someday.
When MJ was falling a guy in my theater scram “Andrew” at the top of his lungs and let out a just as loud “YEAH” of relief after he landed. Goes to show just how good Andrew was in this movie
@Teutonic Knight eh for me it’s different. I find it weirdly endearing to see people get that enthusiastic in a theater of all places. Maybe it’s an upbringing thing, it’s what I’m used to. Of course, I can see it being annoying if it happens over and over.
when 3 of them had casual conversation at the top of the statue of liberty, it felt like fan fiction that was written by 15 year old spiderman fanboy imagining how 3 spidermen would interact with each other from 5 or 6 years which I loved whole heartedly

To me the Green Goblin in that movie was the scariest and most truthful to the comics Green Goblin we've ever got in theaters. In the comics whenever Green Goblin shows up, Spider Man loses. And it's brutal. He also ended Superior's Spider Man's run with so much cunning and brutality. Like he's not the Joker, he's worst in my opinion and far more dangerous because he is stronger and smarter than Spider Man in most every ways. And in that movie it was exactly that and it was perfect.
Hes scary as hell and William did an amazing job. Spitting when screaming and continuing to smile in a psychotic way while getting punched by peter. That's the best acting performance from him
I mean, after all, Norman is actually an Avengers level threat, proven by the Dark Reign and how he invaded Asgard while being the most powerful man in the world, he's like if Lex Luthor had the Joker's chaotic insanity.
@@bigboomer1013 I don't think I've seen his performance as the Goblin a single time since I was ten years old, but his mid-beating cackle in the condo sent a visceral dread through my soul. That. Was. _Terrifying._
The thing I really noticed about the ending was how by the end, Tom Peter had truly become the Peter we all know and love through tragedy. One criticism I heard of homecoming/far from home was that this Peter didn’t really show any of the financial hardship that Tobey’s did-something people really resonated with more than the other Heroes like Batman. But now? With the wipe, he lost his future completely! No college prospects, not even a HS diploma to show for all he’s done over the years. He’s become the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man who can barely make rent. My dad loves the Raimy films best and we talked about the tragic ending of this one reminds us a lot of Spider-Man 1’s ending, the way it ended on a tragic loss and Peters hope despite of that.
When Garfield showed up in the movie, my theater busted into celebration mode, which actually kinda shocked me because for years I have heard nothing but people constantly shitting on Garfield's Spiderman as the most lackluster of the 3 most mainstream Spiderman's. To hear people actually cheer him on was heartwarming to me. I loved this movie and definitely would give it a 10/10.
Same. As soon as he took off his mask in his first appearance my theatre screamed and clapped for him. Which was really unexpected for me, he's my favorite but most people think he's the worst out of the 3. Heartwarming nonetheless
I will say Tobey got louder cheers in mine, but people were still pumped and he was incredibly charming. Thank god they didn't make him do that terrible accent he had in his movies, he was great.
After No Way Home I am now convinced Tom Holland is Spider-Man. Not Iron Man jr., but a true Spider-Man who made the hardest decisions, and lives with the consequences of his actions. Best movie out of the home trilogy, not just because of all the reintroductions to past icons, but the fact this movie finally made Peter become Spider-Man. In a way, the home trilogy was one long origin story. And in my opinion it paid off spectacularly.
Doctors strangers line about him trying to live to life’s works really well for this argument, is Peter life is gone so now Tom really is just spider. His life is gone so he has to live as only spider man
What I love too about the Home trilogy now that it is complete, along with Civil War and the two Avengers movies that Spider-Man is in... we get a story about Peter searching for a mentor figure over them. We first see him idolize Iron Man, and become that "Iron Man Jr." as Tony becomes the father figure Peter lacks. Despite this Tony repeatedly tries to "raise" Peter to be "better than Tony" and berates Peter for his impulsiveness, until Tony finally accepting of his father role after having his own daughter, joins the Avengers again in the time heist to save Peter; finally dying surrounded by Peter, Pepper, and Rhodes at the end of Endgame. But while Tony's arc is completed, it leaves Peter alone. So he has Tony's tech gifted to him, but Peter wants a father figure more than he wants the toys so he gladly offloads the drones to Mysterio; who then promptly uses them to screw Peter's life up. Peter is suddenly confronted with a fatherly figure who betrays his trust, and the other father figure of the film Nick Fury we discovery later was actually Talos in disguise further hammering home the idea that Peter has to learn to not be so trusting and naive and overly reliant on a mentor figure. So then we get to No Way Home and a few things happen, first by the death of Aunt May we see an inverse to Peter's drive for a father figure. Peter always had a maternal figure in his life, May was introduced in Civil War alongside Peter; and we see her in the subsequent films mentoring Peter in his role as Spider-Man, even with her dying breath giving the "with great power comes great responsibility" line. It highlights that although May was not perhaps fully appreciated by Peter in life, in her maternal role she did perhaps a bigger job raising the Spider-Man to be than Tony or Mysterio ever did; and her death truly leaves Peter alone. Then Andrew and Toby's Spider-Men arrive like brothers, offering Peter a glimpse to see himself and what he could be on his own. Its a call to adulthood and self reliance, and with May gone and his two multiverse "brothers" as a guide, Peter is finally able to make the choice to sacrifice his identity to save the world; truly becoming an independent man in the process. Its sooooo good; and really frames the trilogy now in one long character arc to build up to Peter becoming an adult.
Ned and MJ and Peter were the absolute perfect trio, i don't think there's another MCU squad that has the same chemistry that they have. The Winter Soldier gang comes close but you can tell that Jacob Batalon and Tom Holland and Zendaya have been friends for years both in the movie and in real life. Ned being an actual wizard is great too, i hope we see him in Multiverse of Madness training with Wong or something
Ned becoming the Hobgoblin with magic would be amazing too. Especially since Ned doesnt know he knows magic. The set-up is there. And how would that fit? Well, easy, Ned becomes the Hobgoblin sometime during the MIT study doing some research on some "weird" trinkets that were left over from Green Goblin, infecting Ned, and it's going to be the reason that Peter gets back into the lives of MJ and Ned. Ofcourse, that's just a theory.
I know no one cares as much about him as about the spidermans, but I was SOOO HAPPY to see Daredevil, even just as a lawyer. I think he could be a great addition to the mcu and I hope he will be back.
Can't believe you didn't talk about Jameson's role in this film. Simmons absolutely killed it yet again, he was a more active antagonist than at least Lizard and Sandman, was potentially the second most sinister and personal villain in the film after Goblin, and managed to balance out the laughs with moments where you genuinely loathe him as a person. I would genuinely argue that through him we do indirectly get a complete Sinister Six in this film, even if that does seem like a bit of a stretch.
It makes me happy that we’re eventually gonna see JJJ be a much bigger part in whatever Spider-Man movie Scorpion ends up in, since both he and Gargan are set up so perfectly
Jameson was the supreme finesser for the non-powered individuals in the film. Like yellow press, he strives for shock value and manipulation. He's the most human of the villains
I love the bit where Tom and Andrew are so interested in how Tobey’s webs are just part of his body. They’re all “holy shit you can do that?????” and every time they have that conversation is just gold.
Honestly I’d watch a tv show that is just them living together. Them talking about the weird crap they got up to that day. Them fighting over who gets to be Spider-Man that day. Them trading stories. Can you imagine the conversations they’d have about how the blip would’ve worked? Them shitting on Tom’s Peter Tingle? Bruh. Their chemistry was so well done. “What’s the avengers?” “Is that a band? Are you in a band?” They worked so well off of each other
I don't think the dialogue scenes between the Spider-Men went too long at all. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised that they weren't cut short by an action scene, which happens far too much in modern movies and TV.
The plot summary of this sounds like the dumbest thing ever that shouldn’t work on any level and yet I just found it delightful. Just goes to show all the love everyone put in
There definitely should have been more of him, but I was honestly thrilled that when Doc Ock got cured in the middle, he _stayed_ cured. It would've been so easy to have Electro fry his new chip and put him right back into villain mode, but no! He stayed cured, and then he showed up to the final battle _on the side of the heroes!_ As he always would have been, if he had been of sound mind! And that moment between him and Tobey!Peter... just 👌👌👌
IMO Villains in this movie based on quantity (given screentime and if it fits how much they needed ) and quality (how well they were used in said screentime): *Electro:* Quantity: 8/10 Quality: 8.5/10 (overall a 7.5, but he is the one who made the one nod to Miles in the film so +1 point) *Lizard:* Quantity: 4/10 Quality: 4/10 (he wasn't that bad in TASM people, why all the dissing) *Sandman:* Quantity:5/10 Quality: 7/10 (points detracted for his decent-at-best motivations in the climax, but I liked his straight man role beforehand) *Green Goblin:* Quantity: 7.5/10 (I FULLY agree with what Schrafillas said) Quality:9.5/10 (my respect to the MCU for accepting that they wouldn't have been able to create a Gobby that's better than The Willem Dafoe) *Dock Ock:* Quantity:7/10 Quality:10/10 (many of the scenes that made me the happiest in this film came from him, from him fighting on the good side, to his reconciliation with Tobey and Jesus, Molina didn't need to act THAT well in the scene where he was cured, best scene in the movie or top3 imo)
To be honest Andrew has been my favourite "Spider-man" for a long time. Just his delivery and emotes in the suit are so perfect to me. Even just in this movie when he said "Hey Max I missed you" with his arms open before swinging to the side is just so goddamn good to me
One of my favorite parts about Doc Ock was his bare *existence* in the film, simply because of the fact at the end of spiderman 2, he said, "I will not die a *monster* " and then went under in the hudson, and what was important about him showing up in this film was not that he didn't die a monster, but that he lived, and got to do the right thing, side by side with Tobeys spidey, both as good guys fighting the good fight
Andrew is a great actor. He can act with his eyes. And the fact that he already said he will be glad to return as Spider-Man for a 3rd movie. I wish Sony will make Andrew's 3rd movie with a good story and plot that explains why “I stopped pulling my punches" The villains could be scorpion, vulture or Kingpin.
@@IamEnygma YES! I’ve been saying it in multiple comment sections for the past few days, but there is evidence that shows that Tom Hardy’s Venom is in Andrew’s universe and I firmly believe that we can see them fight. There is also a hint to that happening when Andrew says he wants to fight an alien
@@IamEnygma venom being in Andrew's Spider-man universe is kinda bs. Andrew would have appeared in Venom and Let there be carnage + if they are going to just add venom in his movie the venom movie for tom would suck and fans would think its repetitive.
@@IcyDiamond So I didn’t know about the Ravencrofts. But in the Morbius trailer, you can see a poster of Spidey with the grafiti of Murderer, but it doesn’t quite look like TH’s Spidey, and we were given information that Andrew stopped “pulling his punches” after TASM2 , so that adds up for Morbius being in Andrew’s universe. We can also see two detectives who say that they haven’t had a case as good as Morbius’ since LA, which I think is a clear nod to Venom. But hey, that’s just a theory. This could also be me just trying to connect Spidey and Venom in any way possible so it’s probably not true
one really cool thing about norman/goblin was that when he was norman, his teeth were normal looking (maybe a tiny bit crooked, but normal enough). But when the goblin takes over, his teeth become wickedly crooked, and just further enhance the villainous look. this movie is so good because of the macroscopic and microscopic details (like I just talked about). 10/10, best spiderman movie!
It was a detail they brought back from 2002's Spider-Man. Dafoe wore fake teeth when he was Norman, but then used his real, uneven, natural teeth when he was the goblin.
I think the magical thing about this movie is that it didn’t matter if you absolutely despise MCU’s “Iron Man Jr.” or if you’re like me, and you got defensive and found yourself saying “well what makes the others so great?” The moment you see all of them on screen, those feelings melted away.
@@enricov9185 Well yeah, the problem is that after Homecoming, in far from home he forgets the things that he learned in Homecoming, if i remember correctly, lol.
@@carlosg8103 He really doesn't though. In Homecoming he learns he doesn't need Iron Man's help, and can do things on his own. In Far From Home, he learns that he can do his own thing and doesn't have to take up Iron Man's mantle. I'll give you that in both movies he grapples with the fact that he has to kind of tank his social life in order to be Spiderman, but I think that's just a constant theme that runs through all of the movies.
One thing that freaked me out in this movie was the delivery of conveyed emotion after the last fight between Peter and the Goblin. I hear a lot about the fact that if Tobey's Spidey didn't step in, Tom's Spidey would have -Murdered- the Goblin by ripping him a new ass with his own glider 6 times over.... but not only that, even after Peter 2 stopped the glider blades and gave Peter 1 that "no need for explanation" kind of look, Tom went in for one last heavy push... that really does show how much pain he was in to nearly behead Tobey let alone just the Goblin. Tom's performance in this movie was overall the best Spidey I've seen in any of his other Spidey movies. It's a movie to never forget and always geek about
I think Sandman’s reasoning for the final fight is “give me the box!” If the villains had won, there probably would’ve been a fight between using and destroying it after. And Lizard was a lot like Green Goblin: he wanted to be what he was, didn’t matter where.
Yeah, I would argue the same for sandman, since he wanted to go home and didn’t care what happened to the others. Buuuut I think he should’ve been more proactive in trying to find and get the box with that being case. He should’ve stuck with the main crew and stolen it if he wanted it so much.
Considering all the high standards this movie was given, I tried to keep my expectations low, but god it exceeded every standard and more. It immediately picked up where it left off, was fast but well paced, was HILARIOUS and made me cry multiple times. any small issues i have pale in comparison to all its greatness, because with Andrew and Tobey, this truly feels like the ultimate spiderman movie
Also, I adored Tobey and Andrew's interactions and introductions so much. They were so pure and perfect. God I loved this film and can't wait to rewatch it tomorrow
The pacing of the apartment scene I was part of the key to the shock of the Goblin in the spidey sense moment They really defused the audience tension with the humor, and light awkwardness to keep the tension from bottoming out. I think it's one of the keys to how that moment played so well. The scene in the apartment while light-hearted, has little seeds of discontentment sown in for each of the villains to keep us from being entirely relaxed. Lizard is sitting out in the trailer unmonitored. Ock still resistant, and multiple shots of the screen showing the nano tech engaged had me thinking we were gonna see something go wrong! Sandman starts to get suspicious of Peter in this scene. And of course, Electro was the most aggro after Ock, so attention was drawn to him, especially during the spidey sense moment. Norman was actually the least suspicious, and we're warmed up to him even more in this scene. It adds to the shock, and the intensity. Sure, you could deduce Goblin was gonna pop back up eventually in the film, it would be the obvious writing choice, but it fades into the background of the possibilities for me in this moment. Then, tension seems relieved with Doc Ock being cured. It felt like a weight was off the shoulders and things were going Peter's way with that, and then... bam, surprise! Of course, the other key to that scene is Willem Dafoe and his absolute knock out performance.
I rly believe that the best movies aren’t the ones without flaws but the ones where you had such a good time that you just say “who gives a fuck” to the flaws and that’s exactly what this movie is!
Electro was vastly improved in this. You can feel he's just angry with the world for always treating him like shit. It feels more like a classic Jamie Fox character. Could have been a little better fleshed out by the end, given him some kind of character arc. Honestly could have removed croc entirely to play up electro more. Goblin and Ock were great!
I read somewhere that because of Covid, they literally used upscaled recycled footage for Sandman and Lizard because they couldnt actually get them on set. So they had them voice their lines and attempted to CGI everything else. They feel "kinda not there" because they literally were not there on set. I think they did what they could to make it work
@@jak1165 I went into the movie not knowing they couldn’t get Sandman’s actor on set so hearing this makes so much more sense to me! I could tell he was all cgi even after he was changed back from sand and I was wondering why they chose to do that so yeah that makes a whole lot more sense!
Hell nah, lizard is my favorite Villain. Idc if he didn’t have as big a presence. I was glad he was just there. On top of that he had some good lines too. Schaf just acts like he doesn’t have any notable scenes, which to a certain extent is true but false at the same time.
Bro wish electro get his redemption and become Spiderman best friend. Kinda like Ned but for Andrew's Spiderman, fuck now I want more Andrew's Spiderman movie but with better writer
I really loved how the movie held itself to a better standard with people’s actual reactions and power sets, injuries, etc. Any other Marvel movie would’ve undercut the fact that 3 Peter’s could obviously get the curing done(not to mention when Norman was helping), that people actual got hurt and stayed hurt, that Peter could sense Goblin, or even that whole thing with them fighting and crushing walls and falling through floors(keeping their actual strength and not diluting it constantly), and more. It’s just refreshing to see. Not to mention actual consequences, that last! Even mid-movie with reporters on the scene at each destruction.
I loved lizard in this it’s so funny to me he’s just chilling throughout and I adored how they poked fun off his motivation he just wants to make everyone lizard don’t ask
@@Redbird-dh7mu On my second watch I was thinking maybe he was in on a plan with the goblin while on route to Happy's house, but I may be reading too much into it
What I really like about the part where Peter helps the villains is that he _isn’t_ being manipulated or used. They already did that idea really well with Mysterio, but when reading some of the rumours/leaks I was really worried that this would be like _Incredibles 2_ where Peter just falls for the exact same trick twice. But instead, Norman and the other villains actually do want to change for the better, and they sincerely accept Peter’s help. Even the characters who don’t initially want to go along with it, like Electro and Doc Ock, are just reluctant to trust Peter in a way that’s completely understandable, and they’re not actively plotting to betray him. This isn’t just more faithful to their original appearances, but it makes it all the more tragic when the Goblin takes back control of Norman.
The fact that they had the brass to go with a "let's save the villains" plot is so against MCU play it safe rules, it's genuinely impressive. An MCU movie altering the status quo for the better. Good times.
The worst part for me was that Dr Strange could have made it so NOT everyone had to lose their memory of him. The only reason is didn’t work at the start was because the spell was changed repeatedly.
I believe Peter chose to let everyone forget him because of the fact that changing it excessively /is/ what caused everything (aka him being “selfish”) and it’s to show growth in his character.
The main lesson for Peter in this movie is that he can't have his cake and eat it, too. He kept trying to have the best of both worlds, which is what led to the multiverse happening in the first place and the corruption of that spell. The end of the movie needed for him to make such a huge decision and realize that his actions have consequences.
No but that's the thing, peter asked for the CHOICE later on that everyone could forget because of all he's done. He had to make up for everything and includes his life which keeps affecting everyone. And the MAJOR fact that he didn't have time left so he could only do one spell to stop the portal from closing from unleashing all the new villains from coming out.
I mean, dr strange was literally the cause of everything and didn’t explain at all the potential ramifications. Peter was headed out and going home when strange said “hey yo I got this super safe spell that we use frivolously with no consequences whatsoever, you want it?” And then just acts slightly annoyed at changing the spell mid flight. I like the movie, and I’m generally okay with this plot contrivance and can let go with almost no loss of suspension of disbelief, but they could’ve written that scenario much better to where Peter *actually* did something wrong or selfish. Heck, every addendum he added was for *others* not even for himself. It’s just a little bit of messy writing imo.
Speaking of Green Goblin I love the way he was introduced in NWH. Watching it for the first time, you'd think that Osborn is finally free of the Green Goblin, symbolized by breaking the mask. But upon rewatch, it has another meaning: By breaking the Mask, it means that the Green Goblin is no longer just a mask, but the person itself and doesn't need the mask anymore.
The part of the movie that really broke me was when Peter was repeatedly punching his green goblins face. However, gobs took those punches, manically laughing, showing no pain, no agony, and then driving Peter through the floor with ease. It just shows how weak Peter, as a hero and person can be and how much he has to learn. He really is a goblin
What really surprised me is when Garfield's Peter first showed up in the movie, the whole theater burst out in applause and cheers! I've never seen anyone care about the ASM movies, but it was bittersweet that not just the movie, but the fans also gave the love that Andrew Garfield deserved. As someone who grew up with the Raimi films, and didn't like the ASM movies that much, I gotta admit that Garfield's Peter was the best character in this movie (yes, even better than Maguire's Peter). Just behind Norman/The Green Goblin that is! He stole the whole movie! :D
my cinema audience screamed for both of them :/ i've got an attachment to asm because i was alive enough to see them when they came out, and i like garfield's face.
I think what was lowkey the best thing about this movie was the fact that Tom Holland's Spider-Man *finally* felt like Spider-Man. The whole Iron Man Jr. thing is dead after the ending of this movie. Lots of fan service but it never felt nauseating like Endgame's did and honestly it is one of the most bittersweet endings in a MCU movie to date. It's up there with Infinity War's ending as the best ones in the MCU. I really can't wait to see what they do with Spider-Man from this point on.
Seeing Tom have to be on his own, broke as hell, get a tiny apartment, with a box of things and gave to get a GED while being Spider-Man. That’s the story we know so well and the responsibility he took finally
It was because Tom Holland’s Spiderman was NOT Spiderman before this movie, I don’t know if you notice but the past movies were building up to this, the true origin of Spiderman (of this Universe). At the end when Tom’s Spidey makes his own costume and swings through the city is the moment when Spiderman was finally born.
Agreed, especially with the emphasis on Peter being a working class hero that the ending puts forth. Like, he's in a shitty apartment struggling to pay rent and balance his life, just like how many of us struggle with multiple jobs, like, fuck, it feels so good to once again have some sense of representation in the MCU again.
I’d honestly would have love to see more casual conversations/super villain fights between all the Spider-man’s. I’m such a sucker for character dynamics and the way they all acted like brothers to each other made me smile
Andrew and Electro’s relationship was surprisingly sweet by the end.
Wonder what happened to the villains after they went back to their universes
same with Tobey and doc oct
Really hot take: was Kinda cute in TASM 2 too, sure Max was really weird character but i felt really sad for him
@@IcyDiamond tbh doctor octopus probably still dies due to the plot hole of him strangling Peter when he was taken
Aunt may dies
I, for once, honestly think the way Doc Ock was handled in NWH was one of my absolutely favourite things about the movie. Even when still possesed by the tentacles and confused by a different Parker, he still is the most intelligent and aware guy on the block. And the moment he is relieved of his torment, he turns to Peter asking how he can help and actually aids the Parkers with handling the multiverse fvckup in the final act. For me, they got Raimi-era Otto done right to a tee.
And he clapped the three Peters asses to the ground, my man was always this badass.
Then again, his wife is dead as well. So that may be another thing for him to come to terms to.
Soooooooooooo agreed!
I love how this movie was treated serious with the tone and didn't feel the need to throw in jokes in a dark scene. When a scene is dark, it stays dark, and I praise the movie for that.
This is one of the very few Marvel movies that actually gets the tone right. At least most of the time.
Yeah I feel some other Marvel movies don’t strike that balance super well
He forgot Matt Murdock's cameo... I'm crying rn
Not since Infinity War have I seen an MCU movie where the threat is taken so seriously.
Although, I still haven't seen Shang-Chi and the Eternals yet.
Just like Endgame did
what was so poignant about Toby’s Spider-man being the one to stop him was because he told Peter that he felt terrible regret about killing his uncle’s murderer. and he didn’t want to see this other, teenage him go through the same torment. the look they shared together spoke more than words ever could’ve.
and then he got stabbed…
The way he was so nonchalant like yeah, he’s def being in the suit for a while and being stabbed is no news of him but still mad funny.
I was predicting he was gonna say “Spider-Man doesn’t kill people” like may did in Spider-Man 3.
Not to mention Tobey already saw Norman die once

The scene where Peter's spider sense was going off like crazy and he had no idea what it was for was done incredibly well, that whole sequence might of been my favorite in the whole movie
It’s easily one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie
The part where he webs green goblin and he gives that monologue literally gave me chills, best movie experience I had
That was one of the best uses of spider sense I've ever seen in any Spider-Man movie. Just the way the camera sticks to Peter as he's walking around, wondering why it's going off was so well done.
agreed, you knew that something bad was about to happen but the film keeps you guessing what it is exactly
Dude fought aliens in space but nothing can be compared to Green Goblin when we talk about fear
I would honestly just love a film where it’s just Tobey, Andrew, and Tom just discussing their past adventures for like 2 hours, I genuinely love those scenes that much.

I'd watch that. That scene with them talking to each other before the climatic battle was one of my favorite scenes in the movie.
One of the best parts to me is when Toby stopped Tom from killing Goblin. That face Toby made was something I've seen before. That face of "You are better than this". It just hit me bro
he said absolutely nothing and still the message was so clear, it was the best thing.
He legitimately stops Tom’s Peter from making the same mistake he did: Killing the man responsible for their role models death.
@@deezy5339 he didn't actually kill Uncle ben's killer though. He was going to but the guy tripped and fell out the window himself
And the way after he stops Tom from killing him, GOBLIN JUST STABS HIM IN THE BACK
Loved the bit with (Tobey’s) Peter and Otto reuniting.
_“You’re all grown up!”_

Integral
They did a really good job of developing Tom Holland’s Spiderman in line with the other ones
*BIG SPOILER WARNING I FORGOT TO PUT IN THE ORIGINAL COMMENT*
using the death of Aunt May (in place of Uncle Ben) and the other Spidermen as tutors, and then erasing all of his relationships to make him more independent of the relationships he developed in Avengers and particularly Stark Industries (ie it made him a viable standalone hero like the others).
“Woah you’re a part of the Avengers? That’s awesome! I don’t know what that is!”
"I fought an alien goo."
"I fought a big alien in space."
"I want to fight aliens too. All I fought was a guy in a giant rhino suit."
I was especially there for Tobey's "Steve from Blue's Clues" energy. The way he affirmed Andrew as an amazing Spider-Man was just so wholesome.
SPOILERS >:(
The only gripe I have is that Tom didn't mention how he was yeeted out of existance for 5 years. I wish he mentioned it and Tobey and Andrew would look at each other like what's up with this universe with weirdly named bands and purple aliens.
It would’ve been great to see him mention it to the other two, but I think I know an even better way they could’ve referenced it:
I was mildly annoyed that Venom was absent the whole movie so instead of fighting the Sinister SIX it was the Sinister Five.

I imagine how much material the writers had a at hand and all the stuff they had to cut because everybody involved was clearly having a ton of fun.

Not gonna lie, I was laughing during that moment. Solely because somebody behind me said "should have down that last time" and me, my friends and a few others couldn't help but laugh at that.

I always had a sense of love from the Amazing movies. I just love how goofy he is. AND THE ENDING WITH CLASSIC SPIDER-MAN ITS JUST SOOOOO GOOD.

I mean tbf he was part of the half that was dead

It's like a true passing of the torch.

Are you implying that the next MCU spider man could have Ned become a villain as he won't remember being peters friend?

I don't feel bad for him at all because the motivation was completely retarded and made no sense
This movie really did feel like Hollands Spider-man learning the lesson of “with great power comes great responsibility” and he learned it hard.
Well yeah, Aunt May literally said it
@@trampotrav4350 And everyone in my theater clapped when she did!
SPOILER: Andrew Garfield getting redemption by saving MJ is a legendary moment.
Straight up, the emotion is that scene was spot on and hit like a ton of bricks.
It may have been used only in the final shot, but I'm loving Spider-Man's new suit so far. Simple, elegant, yet..... *BOLD*
The music score for that part was epic too, just like the Raimi films final scenes

Specially because his costume looks a lot like the comics with that vibrant blue, it feels like Spiderman was finally born.

This movie felt like what the Rise of Skywalker WISHED it could be:
An action-packed yet emotionally riveting thrill ride with real stakes and consequences along with many elements that pay homage to the original movies (without seeming like cheap fan service), while simultaneously tying the themes of the last two movies together into a satisfying conclusion.

I always knew that those haters were just a very loud minority.
Same. As soon as he took off his mask in his first appearance my theatre screamed and clapped for him. Which was really unexpected for me, he's my favorite but most people think he's the worst out of the 3. Heartwarming nonetheless
personally I hear alot of people who consider Garfield their favorite spiderman
bro my theater freaked out it was so cool to experience
Agreed. He finally got the “spider man arc” in my opinion, and finally made me see him as the character instead of another MCU hero

He's literally Alex Jones in this movie and I love that
It makes me happy that we’re eventually gonna see JJJ be a much bigger part in whatever Spider-Man movie Scorpion ends up in, since both he and Gargan are set up so perfectly
Jameson was the supreme finesser for the non-powered individuals in the film. Like yellow press, he strives for shock value and manipulation. He's the most human of the villains

Villains in this movie based on quantity (given screentime and if it fits how much they needed ) and quality (how well they were used in said screentime):
*Electro:* Quantity: 8/10
Quality: 8.5/10 (overall a 7.5, but he is the one who made the one nod to Miles in the film so +1 point)
*Lizard:* Quantity: 4/10
Quality: 4/10 (he wasn't that bad in TASM people, why all the dissing)
*Sandman:* Quantity:5/10
Quality: 7/10 (points detracted for his decent-at-best motivations in the climax, but I liked his straight man role beforehand)
*Green Goblin:* Quantity: 7.5/10 (I FULLY agree with what Schrafillas said)
Quality:9.5/10 (my respect to the MCU for accepting that they wouldn't have been able to create a Gobby that's better than The Willem Dafoe)
*Dock Ock:* Quantity:7/10
Quality:10/10 (many of the scenes that made me the happiest in this film came from him, from him fighting on the good side, to his reconciliation with Tobey and Jesus, Molina didn't need to act THAT well in the scene where he was cured, best scene in the movie or top3 imo)
Tom!Peter must've improved the insulation on the chip.
To be honest Andrew has been my favourite "Spider-man" for a long time. Just his delivery and emotes in the suit are so perfect to me. Even just in this movie when he said "Hey Max I missed you" with his arms open before swinging to the side is just so goddamn good to me
Yes!!! Andrew talking to Max was one of the best parts!!!
Andrew is just ✨🤌🏾
Facts Andrew the best Spider-Man for me even tho his script wasn’t that great Andrews acting is just transcending
I wish Sony will make Andrew's 3rd movie with a good story and plot that explains why “I stopped pulling my punches"
The villains could be scorpion, vulture or Kingpin.

It's a movie to never forget and always geek about
I think Sandman’s reasoning for the final fight is “give me the box!”

Considering all the high standards this movie was given, I tried to keep my expectations low, but god it exceeded every standard and more.
“I just wanted to kill you myself” is the rawest line I never knew i wanted to hear Tom say
Gotta love Norman not missing a beat with, “Atta boy”
I rly believe that the best movies aren’t the ones without flaws but the ones where you had such a good time that you just say “who gives a fuck” to the flaws and that’s exactly what this movie is!
Electro was vastly improved in this. You can feel he's just angry with the world for always treating him like shit. It feels more like a classic Jamie Fox character. Could have been a little better fleshed out by the end, given him some kind of character arc.
Honestly could have removed croc entirely to play up electro more. Goblin and Ock were great!
*Lizard*

Indeed! Do you wanna be young forever? Just become a lizard!
I now want a What If episode where everyone becomes a lizard
I love how he just attacks Tom once, goes, “told you there would be consequences”, and just leaves.
Good times.
@@FelisImpurrator Yeah it was a very unique way to do this movie
I like how The Lizard just straight up didn't care about being cured, and was waiting in the truck for things to go south lol
@@FelisImpurrator It was pretty much along the line of what was established with the Vulture in Home-coming.
@@thoughtsofaleo2916 uP
No but that's the thing, peter asked for the CHOICE later on that everyone could forget because of all he's done.
Speaking of Green Goblin
I love the way he was introduced in NWH.
I think my favorite scene was when Toby, Andrew, and Tom were on the tower bonding over things only Spider-Man would truly understand.
The first thing my dad said after watching it was “That was like a real Spider-Man story, he wins, but loses literally everything.”
this movie is a 10/10 for referencing being something of a scientist and Tobey's back pain
all that's missing is tobey doing finger guns
It's just, my back
The part of the movie that really broke me was when Peter was repeatedly punching his green goblins face. However, gobs took those punches, manically laughing, showing no pain, no agony, and then driving Peter through the floor with ease. It just shows how weak Peter, as a hero and person can be and how much he has to learn. He really is a goblin
i love the reversal of this at the end where goblin was getting the shit beat out of him by a bloodlusted peter
ASM has a very strong fan base. But it has just as many detractors. It’s similar to Twilight in that regard.
my cinema audience screamed for both of them :/ i've got an attachment to asm because i was alive enough to see them when they came out, and i like garfield's face.
Same with me. When he took off his mask my whole theater went nuts.
My theater also screamed to, well I did
My theater too. Honestly, I think everyone's did
I think what was lowkey the best thing about this movie was the fact that Tom Holland's Spider-Man *finally* felt like Spider-Man. I really can't wait to see what they do with Spider-Man from this point on.
hehe, felt like Spider-Man.
Seeing Tom have to be on his own, broke as hell, get a tiny apartment, with a box of things and gave to get a GED while being Spider-Man. That’s the story we know so well and the responsibility he took finally
AGREED. It’s funny how this is a million times better than Endgame 😂😂😂
This movie was incredible, it may be very fan-servicy but it absolutely delivers on everything you can hope for in a Spider-Man movie
Fan Service is honestly a great thing, especially in this film!
that one scene where they talk about the web fluid felt a little drawn out but it was fucking hilarious I loved it
I’d honestly would have love to see more casual conversations/super villain fights between all the Spider-man’s. I’m such a sucker for character dynamics and the way they all acted like brothers to each other made me smile
