@@hoosierbaddy3052 mussels aren't, but those were steamer clams, they're a soft shell clam that lives burrowed below the surface of the sand. you can coax them to open up and clean out with a salt water soak overnight, but if you don't have the time to dedicate, most restaurants will serve them with a hot water bath to dip them and clean out the grit. They actually (typically) have a leg sticking out the side of the shell that you can use as a handle to dip.
Not that this makes David any less pretentious, I just served at a seafood restaurant for years and thought I'd share :) they're big in the northeast

Black Pearl closed just 4 days after the episode aired.
J Willy's also closed on 4th February 2009. With food prices increasing and customers decreasing, they had the choice of cutting the quality or closing so they decided to close it for good.

They went back to the old menu and the quality of the food was poor from most Yelp reviews. David tried to blame it on Ramsay he was the problem from the start.

it's fascinating that once the restaurant is organized and busy the work load required by the owner(s) increases - preferring the work load of an unsuccessful restaurant - several restaurants close after gaining the knowledge for sucess 😢

Yeah, I mean I eat basically everything, and I'm not really an activist, but I didn't like that at all. I personally don't like seeing the animal I'm about to eat alive before my eyes, and it gets much worse when they keep them there for entertainment before they're being cooked. (Aren't lobsters cooked alive as well? Or is that just crayfish?)
I realise that it sounds ironic and controversial not to want to see my food alive before eating it, but I keep that emotional distance for a reason. I still don't want to see alive animals being mistreated. At least they don't know what happens to them after they're dead.
