I feel this so much. As someone who wants to get back into drawing again, I would have no idea where to start digitally. I have a basic drawing tablet sure, but programs or stylers, brushes to use, it's all just so much. With drawing traditionally, you can see the process right there, and use what you see. But with the drawing tablet, it's weird because you're drawing but it shows up on the computer. Such a steep learning curve.
Not gonna lie, I don't feel like drawing at all nowadays. I'd rather watch other artists without necesarly picking up a pen. But for some reasons, this made me want to draw again, and overcome my fear of starting things from scratch. I've lost all motivation but that doesn't mean that I can't practice and try out new things aye? Love you Emily!💜
Don't worry emily...I've been studying illustration for 4 years and I still get confused with some things in the program and I get frustrated not knowing how to use all the brushes, but as they say "practice makes perfect".
as someone who's been using Clip Studio Paint for over a year now, this video helped literally so much. For some reason I never saw the "refer to other layers" tool in the bucket fill section so that's an extreme game changer for me lmao, thanks Emily!!
As an aspiring artist, all your videos on art and most of your videos in general are really inspirational and helpful for me. Your positive and down-to-Earth style really helped me whenever I felt that my art wasn’t good enough. Thank you so much.
I love the perspective rulers in CSP. Protip: if you use a 3D model, you can click on the ruler icon on the layer in the layer panel to enable a perspective ruler that matches the current camera angle of the model. This let’s you do backgrounds where the perspective of the character and background fit together seamlessly. To turn off the perspective ruler, right click the model layer and uncheck “show ruler”.
It’s refreshing to hear someone I follow is a complete newbie to clip studio paint. I started last month and still getting the hang of it. I’m glad I’m not alone.
As someone who's both a traditional and digital artist,it was a real struggle for me to switch programs while doing art digitally,(I got real damn confused and overwhelmed when I first used Ibis Paint X lmao)I really relate to this. I love your artstyle and videos Emily, they're so entertaining and fun to watch and this video really helped a lot!
Now, I know next to nothing about art, color theory, and animation, but I DO know how it feels to learn about a program or tool I previously had no experience with. I remember having to learn about mod managers and file directories so I could get the most out of modding, I remember being so confused about everything, looking up a question I had, and eventually figuring it out, and I remember how good it felt when I finally became proficient enough to work out all the bugs and get things to work as intended. I've come to understand that learning something is most impactful when it's something YOU want to learn, and I sincerely hope you come to find joy in that knowledge.
It's always nice to try new things in life. As someone who switched from SFM to Blender I can understand the struggle. It's basically learning a new language. I am really pleased that you tried and excited for what's to come
As someone that uses the classic pen and paper, I found it quite daunting go full on digital, but now with the fact I have a new tablet and now finding Clip Studio Paint thanks to you, I finally found a very useful program to start a new chapter in my art and eventually animation career! I feel like the future is present by side and I will grant myself with limitless possibilities and actions! Thanks a bunch!🥰 "Once you free your mind about a concept of Harmony and of music being correct "You can do whatever you want So nobody told me what to do And there was no preconception of what to do"- Giorgio Moroder
I was (and still am) in the group that wasn't entirely stoked by Clip Studio Paint's change in profit model but I can say with confidence that the program is very comprehensive and easy to use once you get used to the initial learning curve.
As much as I love how the UA-cam animators are now able to build their teams in order to produce high quality videos but in contrast I love how 'almost everything here is just Emily since I admire the cute art style, this video is very much appreciated as an artist
I'm so happy you decided to try out CSP Emily. I also just started to use clip studio paint. I must also say that i've never been happier! This program is so good and it's so much fun exploring all the different amazing tools. I hope that you also enjoy it as much as i do!!
the 3D model feature was such a game changer for me! it really helped me to tighten up my proportions and let me explore drawing poses and angles I would've been too scared to try before. I literally don't draw without it anymore.
I've used this program for 8 years and didnt know most of these features TT thank you so much this video is so helpful!! csp is such an amazing program
I really find your art cute and charming! In fact, it's your style that got me started on Yamada at Lv 999; Akane's design looks like someone you would have created so I was immediately hooked.
I’m glad that you feel comfortable sharing how art is changing for you and really helps me as another artist seeing how you don’t need just one medium thanks for always giving me motivation to draw
Ive seen this vid when it came out but was not paying attention cuz I wasn’t considering going digital for anything yet, now 10 months later, I’m finally considering it for a specific reason and having this vid that I can go back to is so useful while trying to see which program would fit what I need the most !! Thank you !!
That's so cool that they reached out to you for a sponsor and a sort of tutorial help thingy. I love when companies watch their audience and take initiative on these things where it's really mutually beneficial.
I think it's just really impressive to recognize when there is a better tool out there and actually commit to overhauling the thing you have done and the way you have done it for years in order to ultimately achieve a better and more streamlined product! I definitely don't underestimate how difficult that is and really admire the decision you made to make the transition over. Can't wait to see your progress as you learn more about CSP and master it!
I understand the hesitation when it comes to switching programs as a digital artist. I started on Autodesk Sketchbook and felt the same hesitation with moving to Procreate. The UA-camr ArtwithFlo has helped me fully move to using Procreate using her in-depth tutorials and my art style has changed for the better because of it. I do have CSP on my iPad but I am hesitant again 😅. It does not help that CSP runs on a subscription payment rather than a 1 time payment like Procreate. The brush library and model references is enticing though 👀✨ If there are art tutorials similar to ArtwithFlo for CSP perhaps that could help me transition again 😅
From what I've seen, procreate requires far more steps to do simple things or apply simple effects I always find it odd! because in CSP a ton off things can be done quickly, and if not, there's probably an autoaction out there for it! if you choose to move to CSP there'll be a lot to discover for sure!
I agree with u, I love procreate but CSP’s sub pricing vs one time payment puts me off in it :/ although I do agree CSP seems to have to many more tools than procreate and easier the pricing and the fact that u have to be online at least once per day makes me doubtful
CSP also has a one-time-payment option. You don't get post-release updates with it (aside from bugfix patches), but it's well worth the price even without them
WOAWOAWOA THIS IS SO COOL. i literally JUST moved over to csp from painttoolsai and i remember looking at the csp ui and thinking wtf this is way more complicated but its been really fun to experiment with. ive had a lot of fun just messing around and getting used to it by drawing my favourite characters from games and series like genshin and mo dao zu shi so that i can ease into it and get ready to open my commissions for more serious work. im glad im not alone on this weird art transition journey
Super cool! It’s fun to get a mini-showcase and first impressions video all in one! I understand hesitance to switch to a new program but I hope you really enjoy making art with it!
First off, happy for you! I loved your art videos for whatever project you did anyway, but it's awesome to know you're getting some improvements! Genuinely super inspiring.
Welcome to the CSP family, Emily!!! I hope you enjoy learning the program and exploring it! Honestly, upgrading to CSP was the best decision I made for my art career
Wow, I can't believe Naoki Urasawa himself taught you how to use Clip Studio Paint, what a kind guy. He also looks much younger than I remembered, good for him
I've been using CSP for almost 4 years and I'm still figuring out tips and tricks. Can't wait to frame by frame and see what I can learn from this. You're videos always inspire me to inprove on my art and learn from others
Hey Emily, I really enjoy how u animate and it's really amazing, keep up the great work! ^^ Btw are you planning on doing a Livestream while you draw? I would love to see that honestly ✨
This video really helps as an artist trying to overcome health challenges and relatable in many areas. Trying out a new program for anything, that pertains to a work and hobby, can be very challenging and a bit scary since you need to master the program first before you can fully make use of it. This video is both comforting and enlightening to a viewer like me who has not drawn in many years due to a very difficult history of PTSD. I've been meaning to try a no screen drawing tablet and knowing a program like this exists really helps me out settle some things in my head so I can fully commit to drawing again.
So exciting!! I stopped using Clip StudioPaint because I prefer to use Medibang at the moment but I'll go back to it again soon! Thank you emi for showing us this tutorial and your beautiful drawings!🎉 💕
Loved this video so much. It’s so refreshing to see someone who’s not immediately comfy with CSP share what works for them. I’d love to see how you sort brushes
Ooooo, do you think you could explain to me why you prefer those other two softwares? I'm really interested in drawing and eventually, making animations, but I really don't know where to start digitally. I would love to hear from someone with experience like you!
krita is really good. i've used it for years but i recently bought clip studio bc i wanna do comics more & i don't really like krita's comic tools. still, i reccomend it fully. it's the best free art program i've used
@@joshualawrence2963Krita is a very nice one for anyone coming to digital stuff. I use Medibang paint because it's so lightweight. The stroke responds so well to my pen. But Krita has very intuitive icons for brushes and pens. That reason alone, is more than enough for me to love Krita. And also, both of them are Free and Open Source. If you're starting out for the first time, you probably don't wanna pay for subscriptions yet. Anyway, Good luck!!
Omg I’m so happy to hear that you’re learning clip studio because I’m also starting to learn it as well! And yes I also have the same problem with it being intimidating and struggling to understand everything but wanting to learn more about it and use it in the future really helps me stay motivated to learn.
I AM FOAMING AT THE MOUTH I AM SO EXCITED, THIS CAME AT THE !ABSOLUTE! BEST POINT IN MY UNI CAREER. (ps my uni decided i no longer need photoshop or illustrator even though im on a art course with actual drawing assignments, there responce was to drag my £500 screen in and out for multiple hours multiple times a day untill the rooms close at 9pm where they dont open untill 10am the next day......) SO THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Emi, don't worry. I also have CSP, but I've not touched it either because I'm also scared of learning new things from it from start. So this video hits for me as well. We can learn and grow together (along with others who start).
I've been meaning to try drawing and getting better at art lately but I was stuck on choosing between the different art programs and which would be the best. This video helped me finally choose one! Thanks, Emirichu!
Holy smokes! So many handy tools that I didn’t know was in Clip Art Studio and I’ve had it for a good while. Time to revisit it! Thank you for this video!
This video actually helped me realize the " refer other layer" option of the bucket tool exists, and it is the best tool for coloring I've ever used. Manually doing the colors is in the past for me, and the bucket tool is now my Clip Studio Paint friend!!! Ironic since I didn't really like/ use the bucket tool that much as I always hated that it colored the whole layer instead of inside the line art. Seriously though, this video actually helped me learn more about using Clip Studio Paint. So, an amazing job with the video Emily, and have fun doing future projects with the program.
I also felt nervous when I was about to use a new drawing app. I remember before I was using a sketchpad(on my old ipad). But I was having a hard time. So I went back to traditional drawing. But since the alcohol markers are expensive I was again contemplating to draw digitally. I just got a new phone then I stumbled upon ibis paint. It was a saving grace for me, it's free(you can watch ads to borrow other brushes) and it has tracing sketches, backgrounds, etc. I have been using the app for about 4 years. I have been content since.
Been thinking of switching art programs as well. This video might just be what pushes me over the edge. Thanks, as always, for the content, you're a fantastic inspiration!
I’ve switched over a year ago for college and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made, my art has never looked better thanks to Clip Studio, it took awhile to get used to but I eventually I got the hang of it, plus it’s so much fun to try out new brushes ^^
Congrats, Emily! I’m a huuge fan and I’m inspired by your art! I play your videos when I cant sleep and sleep with them playing! Im so proud of you ! Getting sponsored by A WHOLE ART COMPANY is so rare! -With lots of luv, Dem
Ohhhhh!!!! I actually saw a Clip Studio Paint ad with Emily in it the other day!!! I freaked out because I thought it was really cool that an art program was collabing with a major content creator in an ad! Fun fact: That's one of the only ads I won't skip lol
I use Procreate casually to make custom labels for my Magic: the Gathering decks, and I love to get a look behind the technical tools and tricks artists use to make their own works. Thanks so much for this video!
I'm not a digital artist but I really appreciate this video Emily! It's really awesome seeing you take a next step to improve your craft! I'm a game developer and end up doing a lot of 3D stuff so I understand the fear of having to learn a new software. It's scary but can be a huge step forward in your career!
I got Clip Studio a few years ago during a sale and there's a lot that I'm still learning about the program. Like that those helpful shading guides and liquidfy things you did in your video that I had no idea existed. I REALLY should have looked up more tutorials or something... Hopefully, now that I know about their existences, I will have a much easier time with my artwork and be able to create better commissions in shorter amounts of time.
*crying in procreate* I'm not a professional artist in any way shape or form, so for just the sake of my hobby idk that it would justify learning and paying for a whole new program, but this genuinely blew my mind - especially being able to have 3D models that you can move and adjust for perspective, and the auto lighting / shadowing feature is just crazy - so so so cool!
I really appreciate your videos, I got Clips Studio for my daughter and she's been so overwhelmed that she was thinking she was too dumb for it because it wasn't super easy to understand. This video helped her to stop being so harsh on herself and she's tackling it again. Thankyou
the video really inspired me to finally buy a replacement pen for my drawing tablet (I lost the other one) and switch over from firealpaca to clip studio, who knows I might even start making comics now!
As someone who's been using CSP for years even I didn't know about one of the tricks that you talked about. So happy you're liking the program though!! I love everything about CSP other than their new subscription program lol.
I was actually quite nervous because everyone I know owns Procreate and I owned clip studio and I felt like i was the odd one out, considering all the advanced tools that clip studio has to offer. But you just switched and you immediately made it look so easy! Definitely keeping this video tabbed for the future!
I just started using clip Studio about a month ago to. I did not know about the liquify tool that's so heck and useful. I think clip Studio has 110% improved my art

And yes I also have the same problem with it being intimidating and struggling to understand everything but wanting to learn more about it and use it in the future really helps me stay motivated to learn.
I failed art school.
Any ideas what i could do now?
NOT invade Poland
@@ValFBIAgent Let me write that down so I dont forget
Become an imposter
We cant wait to see what u'll bring us in the future.
Gl in learning ^^
No way! I just got into clip studio as well!
This was a perfect little guide for some of the tools I haven’t figured out yet.
I just switched to CSP a few months ago and I'm still getting the hang of it, but these tips were really helpful! Can't wait to try them out!
This is the best sponsored video I've ever seen! All of the features that this program offers are genuinely cool.
I've been meaning to try drawing and getting better at art lately but I was stuck on choosing between the different art programs and which would be the best. This video helped me finally choose one! Thanks, Emirichu!
THUS VIDEO WAS AMAZING!! ❤❤❤❤ The possibilities that program have! I need it!!
The fact my art is shown at 0:32 IM SCREAMING 😭💞💞💞💞
I’ve had clip studio art for a long time. It’s an amazing program and don’t underestimate those custom brushes. Those are the reason why I have it
Oh man, I’ve been using csp for 2 years now and I didn’t know about some of these shortcuts! Nice video!
Once again, your sheer honesty, humor, and cheerfulness make your videos easy and a pleasure to relate to.
Have fun CsP is super nice i have used it for 3 or so years
This officially made me switch over to clip studio I never new there was a such a comic friendly software thank you
Dear Emily, I would love to see a video of you interviewing a mangaka. It would so cool to see their world of art
Yess I love your video with Lily It felt really comfy and experimental.:D
*crying in procreate*
I'm not a professional artist in any way shape or form, so for just the sake of my hobby idk that it would justify learning and paying for a whole new program, but this genuinely blew my mind - especially being able to have 3D models that you can move and adjust for perspective, and the auto lighting / shadowing feature is just crazy - so so so cool!
I really appreciate your videos, I got Clips Studio for my daughter and she's been so overwhelmed that she was thinking she was too dumb for it because it wasn't super easy to understand. This video helped her to stop being so harsh on herself and she's tackling it again. Thankyou
So, as someone who's trying to better there art and hasn't even done any digital art thank you very much for making this it's quite a good gateway!
Look forward to seeing ur improved and already awesome future art !!!
It's always nice to gain something new & utilize it in future stuff. Glad you could do it.
The panel drawing is awesome. I kind of want this for my cook book
the video really inspired me to finally buy a replacement pen for my drawing tablet (I lost the other one) and switch over from firealpaca to clip studio, who knows I might even start making comics now!
GO EMILIY YOUR DRAWINGS WERE SO GOOD, WEW. THE CHARACTER WAS SO CUTE, LOVE IT! WEW
This sold me, just bought it today and now waiting for my SonarPen to start using it!! 💖
