Serious question, does is pay well and worth all the pain? I design and sell already "painful" complex character designs like this one on the right 3:41. It pays ok but I want more money. Times are getting tough
This was really informative! It’s interesting to see how much overlap this process has with other forms of digital media, like how parameters are used similarly in VR games, and the various transform effects are present in a ton of image and video editing programs.
However the most informative thing I’ve learned in this video is that Tahvo pronounces “vague” like a psychopath and that’s both cute and hilarious

I’ve animated tweening before, knowing how “difficult” that can be a seeing how much more stressful stuff that goes into rigging and actually making a vtuber model kind of makes me feel sad for those creators😂 love them tho

I created a vtuber but it says I'm not allowed so I tried and tried it still says that, I hate vtube studio
Before watching it, only seeing the thumbnail i agree i tried it once and gave up after 3hours but ofc now i know it takes up to a week to get it working as it should. So seeing this thumbnail remembered me when i tried to revisit it some time ago and watched exactly only one tutorial for the first part the hair part and i thought yeah no i already feel the pain. Gonna edit this once i watched this video to the end.
Edit: I would probably recommend looking into a specific tutorial playlist. It was created by professional Vtube riggers that are one of the bigger known websites that specifically was made for vtube commissions. The playlist isn't hard to find either they have it sourced under the tutorial section of their website
Would be cool to talk about PNGtuber too, i know its simpler but it would be interesting nevertheless

Despite knowing how to draw and having a file for my character i loathe 3d and animation 😂 i found out i much rather make a physical fursuit...god i wish i has the passion to animate.
I've been thinking about becoming a VTuber, and I don't think I will since it's a lot of work and dedication. However, as a music producer I really appreciate people like you who make videos for the people who don't have money or don't want to spend thousands of dollars in something they may regret in the future or just because they'd rather spend it on something else. I'm 17, not attending schoo, obviously unemployed and live in a country with a bad economy, so music producing has become harder every time I make a new single.
They want to charge you for EVERYTIHING. For every sample, every kick drum, snare, SFX, effect, synthesizer, etc. And it breaks my heart that I can't produce any genre I want because for a sample pack with like 10 sounds I'd have to pay more than 30-40 dollars.

Don't get me wrong I WILL try it anyways (once I get access to a good webcam) because that's how I am but man.. I am not exited to leave another project more unfinished
if you have an iphone with infrared facial recognition (i think iphone10+), it tends to have the best face tracking with vBridger for vtubestudio (the tracking software) but i think they updated to improve their webcam tracking

@0:29 Alternatively, you get them for free or for around 50 bucks. Especially that model you showcased there. Those are pre-rigged, too, AFAIK. It is misinformation you put out. You could even do PNG tubing as a cheaper alternative to those 2d models.
Wouldn't it be pretty dumb to spend all that money and neither enjoy nor are talented enough to turn it into a career? Thank goodness there are cheaper options.

i remember gettig live 2d cubism way before knowing what vtubers were. had no idea how to use it and eneded up abandoning it. I think i remember it used to be completely free. i wonder if it was and when it might have went the paid route

with all these programs and layers would someone need a specific type of graphics and storage card or can all this be done from a simple laptop? Do you have any brands or setting you would recommend?
Late reply, but you don't need much space and computational power at all! All the programs would take up just a couple gigabytes of space at max, and a finished model is just a texture file (about 25 mb at 4k for me) and a text file describing the movement (negligible space). A source PSD file could be bigger, mine are around 200mb I think? But you can delete them immediately after importing into Live2D if you don't plan on using it again. So you don't need much space at all
The performance depends on if you are tracking from a phone or webcam. With a phone you don't need any extra power, just enough to receive the data and draw the character, everything else depends on the phone. With a webcam you would need to find the right level of tracking because the higher ones need stronger GPUs, but it's not insane on the lower ones too, about comparable to having a browser with a few tabs open

do you know you can make a vtuber 2d model, by just doing one simple drawing for each emotion or mood you're feeling, without needing to be forced to make this overcomplicated 2d polygon rig?
if i'm not wrong there should be a program which can help you with automatically changing the sprites and move them depending on the audio received from the microphone
