I find it amazing that myself and so many others are so sick and feel like shit eating regular foods while the media and medical field are acting like nothings wrong.
Yep... What you're saying/writing/thinking is occurring everywhere. This is not "wokism", it is consciousness and awareness. And it scares the s**t out of the big conglomerates of medicine, pharma, and food. And exposes the homicidal insanity of centralized control of society. The numbers of those who will not comply are growing constantly.
They’ve monetized enslaving and poisoning us - they provide the poison and the cure. keep us fat sick entertained and stupid. the Drs are told what to do and how to think by their master acronyms - all across the board this is happening- academia , health, food same thing… all working together- it’s true and very much dark and intended. Cheers!

I had insomnia and low energy most of the time ( lion diet + coffee) . I just added lots of salt and boom. All my problem was gone. Still drinking lot of salty water every day and I feel awesome. Just beef and lamb and coffee. i konw coffee is bad but it my only bad addiction 🤣
This is great advice, I need this. I can't do dairy so I'll have to work out where to get the fat. Maybe cut the fat off steak, eat the meat in the am and the fat at night.
@lf7065 Hi, I don't eat pork and we can only get dripping here which may be lard. (I'm in New Zealand). I'm going to try find lamb flaps as I think they might be quite fatty.
Last night I ate two eggs (they're 65% fat I think) and fatty lamb and slept 8 hours. First time in a year. Just so you know... your advice is so helpful
I have a lot of problems staying asleep, dr diagnosed me with insomnia. 3-4 hrs sleep if I was lucky. Have added butter to most of my meals this week. Last night I slept 11hrs, did wake up a couple of times, but went straight back to sleep.
The curse of oxalate poisoning is deadly serious. I am shedding/dumping it right now and the link with calcium is real. When I do a dairy binge an oxalate flare up always follows around 24 to 36 hours later as the extra calcium binds with the oxalates. I'm an old male with a lifetime of oxalate consumption and the flare ups feel a bit like my old health issues are coming back, but it's nothing like it was, and serves as a great reminder of how bad life can be when I consume "Non-food" IE. Plant sourced rubbish. Rest assured, you can push through. I even manage to keep up my exercise during oxalate shedding episodes. 2 years carnivore, never going back.
Yeah I experienced oxylate dumping in the form of what felt like grains of sand causing my eyes to water profusely as those hard grains/particles came out of the tear ducts. I thought it would never end but after a few weeks it suddenly ended, and the dumping was complete. It took me awhile to realize what this was, I just thought it was allergies or an eye irritation of some kind but now I am quite sure it was ocúpate dumping.😊
We are all so different. Jen at DelightedtoMeatYou found that her blood sugar was dropping over night and that's what was causing her to wake up super early (middle of the night). She now intentionally spikes her blood sugar with raw dairy before bed to prevent the night waking. I used to have that problem as well, but I increased the amount of salt in my diet to combat that issue.
Hi there Neah 🎉. I LOVE how you put the science together in your videos. I am a total science person, I am a Nurse, everything you said makes lots of sense. I was wondering were you hungry when you woke up at 1 or 2? I was thinking maybe a snack an hour before bedtime w fat and protein. I usually take a small “ snack “ of 2 egg yolks w 1-2 T butter in hot water frothed. I’m not sure what the drink is called but I found it on another channel, and it’s so appetizing for me. I, too test my BG and ketones regularly and track all my macros in an app since starting Carnivore 73 days ago . I’m down 2 pants sizes and my autoimmune issues are resolving and my health is so much better, I’m off of 4 meds and I originally planned this as a 90 day challenge bc I’m not a meat eater. But I am now and steaks are my fave and I make jerky just like I learned from you ❤. Thank you for your amazing content. All the great work you put into this channel!! ‼️🤞🏻👌🏻🫶🏻💚❤️💜🖤🤘🏻
So glad this has worked for you. Ive yoyo'd in and out of carnivore for the last six months, all because of insomnia. It would always creep up, 3am wake ups, around two weeks into the diet. I'm willing to up my fat and give it another try.
First, you are looking very good and healthy 😁. I really fought insomnia for several weeks until I ran across a lady directing us to take a little salt and eat some fat like butter when having these issues. It has really helped. I also have noticed, keeping up with electrolytes helps as well.
Great to know your sleeping well. I am struggling with sleeplessness on this diet. Can you make a video on how you increase your fat and reduce protein with examples. Thank You.
To get more fat get meat from a butcher shop like ribeye roast or ny strip roast I get them cut 2” thick steaks with all the fat still on it also you can add butter to your meals or Philadelphia cream cheese the one thats package in in a block
Also investing in blue light blocking glasses helps with sleep blue light in the evening increases stress hormone cortisol I recommend the defender shield 99% shielding ones also try to get outside for natural light and add vitamin d3 if you can’t get sunlight i use the sports research 5,000 iu once a day with a meal it’s absorbed better with fat preferably earlier in the day
Synchronicity! I have been having trouble with sleep since January, not falling asleep but waking up between 1:45AM and 3:20AM every single night. I also had daytime energy going down slowly but surely... I do go to bed early, like 9PM, but it's annoying to wake up! I even tried to go to bed later see if I would just sleep to later, to no avail. I'm so happy I found your channel while looking for information about carnivore macros. I've recently upped my fat as well, to 80-20 like you did (95g protein, 170g fat). I still consume raw cheese, maybe an oz a day... Could drop it and see if I get an improvement. Energy has been up, but I still woke up at 3:40AM this morning :)
What’s definitely helped me with sleep, is grounding. At least half an hour before bed. However, make sure you are actually grounded. With energy, I wasn’t drinking enough water. Now when I do focus on consuming more water, it’s definitely night and day difference in my energy levels
@@louisefairhurst6403 I’ve measured with a multimeter where I am actually getting grounded. Which is only one tiled area in my house (the house is on a slab of concrete). The best bet is walk on grass, wet grass even better
Yes I agree, although for me I’ve switched to alkaline or spring water, I noticed how regular tap water was not appealing so when I made the switch it was a night and day difference.
It could be something so simple as a meat and seafood rich diet provides far more energy than the standard American diet or even the vegetarian diets. However, just because a human body is energized, that does not mean that psychologically, the person may need more sleep to deal with stress and issues.
What I found on carnivore was that I just needed much less sleep. I get 4-5 hours of sleep, and I feel refreshed all day. At bedtime I can just go to sleep like turning off a light switch, but if I need to keep going for another several hours it's not a problem.
I've been on the diet for almost 3 months now and I am struggling with exactly this! Thank you soooo much for this video, i will adjust my diet and hopes it works for me too!
3 months in and my sleep is so bad my cortisol has gone through the roof and driving higher blood glucose. Was always in the low to mid 4's mmol (Canadian) now I am in high 5's and even the off reading of 6 ...so over 120 . Dr..says if I don't get my sleep in order and sugars don't come down it's prescriptions for me. Clearly this is not what I want. Going to try this and hope it works. Thanks Neah
@ I have increased both fat and salt. Sadly, with little improvement. I’m determined to fix this issue so not giving up. The health improvements since adopting this WOE can’t be denied. All suggestions welcome,
I'm happy you resolved your sleeping issues. I could never do that and HAD to stop bcs it got incredibly bad after several months with hardly any sleep and constantly racing heartbeats plus arythmias. I tracked aswell and tried all kinds of macros. I hoped the really high fat and moderate protein would help but it got even worse bcs I apparently couldn't really use the fats and I got seriously low glucose during nights and that induced stresshormone release. Haven't been able to solve this issue sadly. Only reintroducing carbs helped. But then I still struggle with Hashimoto's and pain. But I can sleep so much better. It's a catch 22.🤪
Great video Neah!! I find that when I keep my fat intake high, and keep my calories a bit higher (for me as a male and age 61, 220 lbs at 2500-2800 cal), I get excellent sleep. I told you this before but I enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning (and sometimes another in the evening (8 to 9 pm) with 2 tbsp grass fed butter, 2 tbsp heavy cream, 1 tbsp MCT Oil, a dash of monk fruit sweetener, some vanilla and cinnamon and 10 drops of Lugols 2% iodine. YUM!!!!!!! Also, I used to suffer from depression and anxiety and I truly believe that I’ve got to keep the fat content high (75-85%) to optimize keeping these conditions in full remission…. And it’s working great!!! Plus I really enjoy my morning coffee…. I hope this helps all y’all!!!😊
Hi Neah - Your video popped up in my youtube recommendations. Yes, I liked and subscribed. I'll try to keep this short. It's perfectly normal to get 4 to 6 hours of sleep, in my experience. It means you're doing it right. I have to push my bedtime to about 10pm. I start to get the drowsy feeling around 8:30 pm. I've been low carb for about 35 years. Carnivore for 5 years. I eat about 1 lb of meat per day. I'm accidentally OMAD. When I first went carnivore I could eat 3 lbs per day. I think that's what my body needed, at the time, to do some remodeling. I'm a 5' 6" male.
Just to be clear, I think the 8 hour recommendation that we've all heard all our lives is pulled out of thin air. I function perfectly well on half that, and have steady energy all day.
One more thing - the above, is n=1 obviously, but I have heard similar sleep pattern anecdotes from other low carb/carnivore followers, like Robert Atkins and Gary Taubes
Thanks for you video. Im only on day 9 but have also started to have insomnia. I will up my fat intake & see how it goes. It all seems counter-intuitive but it works. Im down 3kg and never hungry!
I'm on a carnivore diet and sometimes only sleep for two or three hours a night. I'm not tired during the day though, so I'm not sure whether to regard it as a problem. We are told we need eight hours of sleep, but maybe that's just another fallacy.
Be careful. We need sleep. And 3-4 hours is dangerous for your health long term. Please try to add a few more hours to your sleep. Try NSDR protocol etc. Cheers 🙌
I sleep a lot less since I became ketovore… I now go to bed a lot earlier (I just get tired earlier) and I wake up much earlier in the morning, usually between 4 and 5:30. And guess what?? I wake up sharp as a tack and ready to literally jump right out of the bed to get my day started!!! I then can’t wait to make my delicious morning coffee with some grass fed butter, heavy cream, mct oil, vanilla, cinnamon and a dash of organic monk fruit and 10 drops of iodine and that starts my day with a nice big dose of healthy fat, which gives me a lot of energy to start my day and also keeps my depression and anxiety in full and complete remission. I whip it up with an immersion blender so it’s nice and frothy… YUM!! You gotta keep your fat intake super high on carnivore or in my case ketovore or your sleep and energy levels will likely suffer. As Dr Kiltz says… Carnivore should really be called FATOVORE!!! 😊😊😊 Hope this helps!!
Thanks for the replies. I try to buy the fattiest cuts of meat, but there is a limit to what I can get. I have the butcher mince it up and I fry it with eggs. I'm not sure what else I can do; I don't get on with dairy.
Thats encouraging! Ive used Cronometer to track 20:08 So I made a chart to compare amount of deep sleep against oxalates....ok I actually compared it to every single nutrient available 😂 The thing that correlated was oxaltes. If they're higher, less deep sleep. Goodbye tea. But I'm working my way to 80/20. Sleeping better but still up 3-5 nightly.
Take small snack of fat in evening (1 TB butter or mct oil) and the waking will stop. It comes from hormone spike from dysregulated hormones. The fat resolves it
I am new to carnivore. I basically have dropped all oxalates except tea. I did not want to drop that entirely due to being concerned about sudden oxalate dumping.
Can it actually cause adrenal fatique? I’m off carnivore but even after adding carbs in form of fruit & honey i still got the symptoms of waking up wired and tired in the middle of the night between 1-3am.
Lately it was enough to eat some carbs like 1 - 2 tbsp honey before bed to sleep now i don’t know what to do. Add more carbs? Or zero carbs more fat? Also im surely have high cortisol which will wake me up
Great info! Thank you! As a former Lactaid consumer of MANY years (could not handle regular milk at all) I recently discovered the benefits of whole milk, unsweetened Kefir. People who cannot tolerate milk do not have the microbiome to process it. The microbes from the kefir really help with gut healing and processing of milk products. During the fermenting of Kefir, the microbes eat the lactose sugars in whole milk so there is very, very little of the lactose left in the Kefir. I started with 1/2 cup on an empty stomach in the morning and with my evening OMAD meal and tolerated it really well. I advanced to 1 cup twice a day and have been tolerating it really well. The surprise, after nearly a month of this is WAY better sleep. The other benefit is normal stool. Had been suffering from the beginning of carnivore, almost 2 years ago, with 5-7 days without going and painful, hard ones. I had tried upping my fat intake and increasing water intake to no avail. I’m thinking it was more of a lack of gut microbes along with increasing fat through the whole milk Kefir. I’m looking forward to trying very small amounts of straight whole or raw milk in the future. For now, I’m letting my gut heal as I enjoy these wonderful benefits, including my moods leveling out. I totally relate with the sleep issues, sister! After almost a month on the Kefir, I am now on my 4th solid nights sleep in a row and feeling awesome because of it, along with leveling out my moods. The stool changes happened after only 2 days of the Kefir! What a blessing! 😁
@@neahsway , I live in the Midwest and found the brand, Kalona through Dr. Omara. It has the most microbes I’ve seen. I just started fermenting my own using the Kalona as it saves me $$$. Use whatever full fat milk you like, not ultra pasteurized, just regular pasteurized if you can’t get raw. Using a half gallon of milk minus 1 cup, pour the milk into a half gallon glass mason jar. Add one cup of the Kalona into the jar and put a clean washcloth or tea towel on top and secure with a rubber band. Put it in a room or your kitchen that is anywhere from 68-72 degrees. Depending on the room temperature, it can be done in as little as 12-24 hours, up to 3 days. What you want to look for is fermenting activity or grain formation. Mine got a thicker looking layer on top. The best way to know when it’s done to your taste at the 24 hour mark is to put the lid on it, shake it up and taste it. If it is the right thickness and level of tartness for you, strain it into a clean mason jar and stick it in the fridge to enjoy. If not, put the washcloth back on and set it back where you had it and check again every 4-6 hours, until you’re happy with it. The longer it sits, the tarter it gets (the microbes eat the sugars in the milk to live) My last batch took almost 3 days to ferment the way I like it (house temp is around 68). The batch before was just over 2 days. If the milk starts to separate, don’t worry, just strain the grains out and refrigerate. It will just be a little more tart. Shake it up every time before serving it. I was going to buy the starter grains on Amazon but saw a tutorial on how to ferment it using store bought Kefir. I like doing it this way because it eliminates having to maintain the grains (kind of like maintaining sour dough starter). I buy a couple of Kalona Kefirs and use 1 cup for each 1/2 gallon I make. I have 3 half gallons going (stagger making them) all the time. When I open the last half gallon, I buy another Kalona and start making another batch. Love it! Hope this is helpful.
@@chrisypbydesign I haven't tried Kalona's kefir, but their cottage cheese is ridiculously good. It's the only stuff I will buy now. I'll definitely try the kefir next.
@@cynicist8114 , Oh my gosh! Isn’t it scrumptious? The best I’ve ever had! Love the cream floating on top that you mix into the cottage cheese. I’m spoiled now and won’t buy any other brand if the Kalona isn’t in stock.
Reducing or cutting out salt from your meals might help with sleep. High intake of salt seems to help for people who are starting on the carnivore diet and are adapting to a higher intake of fat and changes in gut bacteria, but it also seems to increase cortisol over time. Reducing my salt intake has improved my sleep quite drastically. That said, I'm currently consuming small amounts of honey before bedtime as well, and although my meals consist exclusively of red meat, I haven't been pure carnivore for about 5 months now.
Nice!! I loved this video. Thank you for it. I've been on the lion diet for 6 months, going strong. I too sleep better when I do high fat. My naturopathic doctor told me a long time ago that ice cream is the best dessert because the high fat content keeps your blood sugar stable throughout the night. Similarly it makes sense that high fat in general would help with sleep. I find that other things that help me sleep include Bone broth, especially in the evening and especially with the fat & marrow picked off and pureed into it - nice and creamy. Other things are L glutamine (which I need to work up to the full dose, I'm at 100-250), Mega IGg 2000, salt. And walking! That one really surprised me. When I walk 3 miles a day, my sleep is so much better. Now I'm finding that 3 miles in the morning Is good, but if I skip that walk at night because I walked in the morning - no good! I have to walk both times in order to sleep well. Circadian rhythm stuff is another thing I tried. It helps big time. Sunrise exposure, sunset exposure, adjusting sleep/wake schedules to match the darkness. I apparently need to wake up 4-6:30. Avoiding 7-7:30 because it's a slippery slope! Then I Need to go to bed at 8:45-10. After 10 is a slippery slope! Lastly, I also eat liver every day. I do this through ground beef, I buy the special organ blend at natural Grocers called Renegade ground beef. It has something like 3 or 7% organs and it's actually pretty good. Less chewy than the force of nature brand. When I started I had to mix 50 /50 with regular ground beef, but now I eat it by itself. It's great with salt and beef-flavored tallow. I have come so far on this diet in the last 6 months. I am still struggling with loose stool, but I think it's something to do with fat absorption or bile supplements or the gallbladder, so I'm still working on that. Overall it's been amazing. Full time for the first time in 10 years! Ps. Did you hear about the beef shortage? I'm kind of concerned. I heard that beef is going to go up 30% in price next year because there's a shortage.
Honestly Beef, Salt and Water is the next best thing you can do. Make the salt Pink Himalayan, Sea salt negatively affected me actually heavily. Pay attention to how old the beef is as all beef is usually aged from 2-4 weeks, beef being aged creates heavy histamine which creates my main issues. Ground beef is the worst culprit as more surface area creates more histamine.
I've learned with me after many months of testing, the fresher the meat the better off I am. If the meat is aged in any way all my symptoms come back heavily. I get my meat and freeze it ASAP and cook from frozen.
Good on you for finding out through listening to your body and not someone else's dogmatic advice approach. I too stay away from high histamine meats the best I can. I hunt and eat raw wild game, when I eat it right after a harvest it is next level energy and vitality. I wish you the best on your health journey.
@@Strobleh I have histamine too and it was bad enough to have to go to carnivore after getting leaky gut/ autoimmune but now tack on histamine foods to remove PLUS paying attn to oxlate/lectins (due to L G + having to lower protein & high fat (that I can't digest much of) I have to add some prebiotic foods. Histamine caused me sinusitis & tinnitis about 6mo ago 😓 nitemare
@@maddworld3317 I ended up learning my root cause is extremely slow motility (most likely from SIBO) and speeding that up has lead to some major improvements on how badly I react to foods. I wish you good luck on your journey as I have had heavy tinnitis/sinusitis from it too and it's horrific. Don't wish it on my worst enemy.
Good info . . . one thing about gluconeogenesis, though -- it's almost impossible to eat so much protein that glucose levels rise enough to wreck your ketosis. You must make enough glucose for those cells that depend on it or prefer it. But in general, brain and heart tissues, and certain skeletal muscles as well, often decidedly opt for fat fuels. When both are available, the fats typically win out over blood sugar. I"m going to try one commenter's suggestion of a bit of butter or MCT oil before bed to see if that helps with my occasional mid-sleep wakefulness.
Hi Neah. In MX and dealing with traveling diet and sleep issues! Thank you 🙏 We love all that you bring to us, looking forward to Carnivore Church. Hi Boo! ❤
Neah you're looking so youthful, Vibrant, Healthy and lean. You did before but even more so now. I'm so glad this is working for you. I've been trying to up my fat as well but I'm horrible at math and it's kind of just a shot in the dark (not sure I did your 80/20 pemmican right etc). I've been feeling a bit better but still not sleeping through the night.
Hmmm. Yeah, it's really just a guesstimate at the end of the day. What do you do for electrolytes, if any? Lately I've been using 1.5 to 2 servings a day also..
This is fantastic info: most people have B vitamin deficiencies resolved by carnivore and their insomnia improved or cured, but not everyone. I had never heard of any sleep disruption after starting this WOE.
I had the same problem, now I take Magnesium Bis-Glycinate around 8:30 at night, I am more calm and relax during the night, I wake up but go back to sleep immediately. Works really great for me.
this is exactly me right now for the last few weeks and i feel like im on deaths door. really really struggling i've resorted to having fruit before bed to help
just an update, i have increased my fat intake far beyond what I would of ever of eaten naturally and i have now slept 5 days in a row with great success without needing any carbs. i've had to do this with cream and cheese to get the fat in.. i understand some people dont do dairy and neither was i until deciding to get more fat in.. and it's working tremendously!
I do believe in retrospect that I was experiencing oxalate dumping through my tear ducts. I think it lasted for 2-3 months and it was def a pain in the butt, however when it was over, it never came back thankfully. I highly recommend you get Dr Sally K Norton’s book about oxalates and watch her being interviewed on UA-cam as well. She’s a wealth of info on this topic, the best in the world. 😊
Very well presented. Glad you got good results. You have convinced me to give it a try as I am having similar issues since going carnivore, dropping the 50-75 daily grams of carbs. It would be interesting to see if you maintained the high fat but also increased the protein back up for more calories if still same results… might help with energy…. It’s like we are all little detectives now lol…..
Yes! I am posting all my meals on Instagram now, so you can see my daily macros there. I do want to eat more eventually, but taking it one day at a time. 😊
Thanks for posting this video Neah, Uping my fat could be just what I need, I have been focused on increasing protein but my fat has been relatively low, thanks for this.
This was is a major problem when I try to go 100% carnivore. Can’t wait to see what you have to say. I’m amazed how some carnivores say they sleep so much better on carnivore. I also start to lose energy as well.
Lion is JUST red meat salt and water super restricted. Carnivore is all encompassing of animal products. Lion is for severe or very sensitive people. Mikayla Peterson coined the term. Most people can just do carnivore and be fine. If you have a metabolic disease or issue then lion is the way to go.
Super helpful stuff here. I have been on a long insomnia journey as well and am determined to solve it! The extra fat might just be exactly what I need to do
Yes! I also find higher fat is the best for most women. Working with a few women in menopause and increasing their fat seems to be helping them. Thank you for sharing.
@@healthycarnivore Me too, as an 80's girl that avoided all fats& ate cardboard food, I still have aversion to it. In my mind it's wrong - same with egg yolks I used to give to my dogs. It sure explains alot of things tho
@@healthycarnivore True. I'm so fumed that I lived for decades being sooooo hungry trying to stay thin when all the while they knew they weren't honest about their nutritional advice - or if they didn't know, did no further testing when the numbers were showing that people were getting sicker under their new guidelines! Holistic professionals knew though
Just a note on protein... Some protein researchers (eg Don Layman) have mentioned that you start to lose muscle mass if you go below 0.8 grams of protein per pound of your ideal body weight. You could try to off set this by stimulating your muscles (resistance training). Or do both, weight train AND keep protein to a minimum of 0.8 g per lb ideal body weight. Although the most common recommendation is actually 1 gram of protein per lb of ideal body weight.
After watching a few of your videos I am not only short of magnesium I am definitely not eating enough fat! Thanks for doing videos. I think I would be still lost if it wasn't for you. Hopefully now am getting enough magnesium and going to be getting enough fat and not to much protein my sleep will get better. Thanks again 😊
My wife and I started carnivore on Feb 6th this year and have been fairly strict but have allowed a few spices and a couple rare instances where we had a few carrots and for my wife a couple of other carb intakes, but very small in quantity. We are both feeling better and losing weight. I've completely reversed my type 2 diabetes. I have a question for you or anybody who doesn't mind answering. I see your shirt with "n=1" and I've heard that reference many times but I've never heard anyone talk about what that is. Would you mind please explaining that? As a side note, I can't thank you enough for your DIY electrolytes video. That helped so much and has saved me a ton.
My sleep was bad before . When I try keto or low carb or carnivore its even worse.. For me I need to add carbs for sleep and definitely more calories . Too much protein has me up every hour. Great video. Its torture not sleeping
I add grass fed butter (I get mine at Aldi) to my steaks or ground beef, chops, fish, whatever. By adding butter liberally it ups the fat content plus it tastes great too!! Since I’ve increased my fat content to 75-85% I have tons more energy and sleep Through the night very well. 😊
@@neahswayJust saw this after 8 months since you put this video out. It took me forever to find A Butter I could eat without the strong immune reactions I get from eating dairy. Can't find Raw Milk Butter around here, even in the Dairy State. Heard Paul Saladino MD on an interview say, Some butters are cultured which helps with that Histimine or immune reaction, And The salted butters counteract the culturing process. I tried Kerrygold Grassfed Butter First Salted and my reaction was much less than usual. After Dr Saladino's remark, I tried the Kerrygold Grassfed Butter Unsalted And it was dramatic how much less my immune reaction was to it. The taste is very different too, like mild cheese flavor from culturing. This is the best I've felt after eating butter EVER. My sleep is better too, and my energy level is more steady too. My gut feels better too. Many have said Butter helps heal the gut and many other organs and tissues. Ideal would probably be a Raw, unpasteurized, cultured unsalted butter from the more ancient breeds of cattle, they are calling A2 . I think Kerrygold raises Jersey cattle which I know is less inflammatory than Holstein which is what most commercial dairy comes from here in America. The Kerrygold Grassfed Unsalted Butter is a big improvement for me and helps until I can find the best one for me with my dairy sensitivities. Check it out Neah. Thanks For Your Content. This video is wonderful and just what I needed. I haven't found a video that was so precise to how to improve sleep. I have been struggling for several years with waking up in the night, wide awake and can't go back to sleep. I am carnivore for 4 1/2 years and usually eat 70/30 ratio. So, now with the information that you shared I am going to increase my ratio to 80/20 and see what happens. I will let you know how it goes. Thank you so much for doing this.
Interesting, I am facing this problem of waking up at 2.30 or 3.3o am on ketogenic diet. I am thankful it's because of protein fat ratio, hopefully fix it as u did. Saleem Raza.....Pakistan
Interesting. I had no clue this problem existed. Explains why I sleep like crap on my protein-only diet (trying to lose 25 lbs). I'll give this a shot when I get down to my target weight! Thank you!
I been waking up 2am on carnivore. I think I am not getting enough magnesium so I've just started taking complex magnesium tablets. Only thing is I have red that it can take 4 weeks to take effect. Hopefully it will work
This is good to know. So many Carnivores say how their sleep has improved. They’re jumping our of bed each morning, well rested. Mine is slowly improving. Glad yours is so much better. Love the T-shirt. What size should I order? I’m 5’3” and average size. Also the currency? Starts with an A.
Thank you, I appreciate your meticulous approach, I have also been waking up at 3, I also did some methodical experimentation and wound up with the same conclusion, I eat a chunk of browned frozen butter an hour before bedtime and sleep through the night now. It's hard getting enough fat through just lion.
Another thing about the raw dairy issue, try kefir + raw milk consumption and the guy will regrow its bacteria it needs to metabolize the lactose. you likely experienced lactose issues in terms of digestion and i know many people including myself who did a raw milk homemade kefir protocol i went from lactose intolerant to now being able to consume dairy with no problems.
OMAD in the evening before bed works for me, I take a melatonin tab and it helps alot - if I wake up in the middle of the night I take some ALA and that seems to help me fall back asleep, no caffeine except in the morning and the more I limit it the better I seem to sleep that night
Love your analytical attitude!!! I had a strange outbreak of psoriasis months ago and after delving into all the research I believed it was stress. Situations in my life that are PTSD related were being triggered by stressors. I got that under control and the psoriasis completely disappeared. Shock! As a psychologist and hypnotherapist I would offer for you to be careful using self-hypnosis or any hypnosis without the proper terminology, i.e. 5 min of any hypnosis is the equivalent to 8 hours sleep, so it is important that as you relax, that you use words about "falling into a deep sleep"...and not just relaxing. Without the proper/guiding terminology for the brain and body to relax into a deep and healing sleep, you leave the door open for your body and brain to spring into wakefulness as soon as you perhaps doze off. And don't forget the words for waking rested and ready for the day (so to speak). Thank you for all your time and effort to make such great videos. Be healthy, stay safe and many blessings, Morgan
My sleep has improved out of sight. I used to have a few bad nights per week of only 3-4 hours. Now, 2 months into carnivore im sleeping all night and having 5 minute naps during the day. But I’ve also noticed my libido has reduced substantially. I seem to be the opposite of most carnivores. I was vegan for 8 years before making the switch carnivore. Maybe that had something to do with it?
I wasn't sleeping before carnivore and I'm not sleeping now either. My sleeping patterns haven't changed at all. I'm only about 7-8 weeks in, but I still wake up several times a night. I haven't lost any weight yet and I think a lot of it has to do with not sleeping. I'm also a 57-year-old woman so it could be hormonal issues, too. It's so frustrating. 😢
My question is, how did humans evolve eating? I'd assume they mostly ate animal meat of rabbit squirrels etc, but most, if not all animals in the wild are very lean. So with things like high fat consumption, how would our ancestors been able to accomplish this?
I suspect that since they hadn’t wrecked their health for about 4 generations with poor quality food and chemicals, that they didn’t have as many issues and wouldn’t have needed to heal, so their bodies were probably just more “forgiving” about all the things Neah was talking about.
Humans killed off the majority of megafauna there was. You can google the graph where it shows where megafauna declines just after people have arrived to a new continent. That's why there aren't much left and why the shift to farming took place and was popular. It's a starvation way of eating and we have to show the world we no longer need it
Thanks for sharing important information.🙏 I've been following the Carniovore lifestyle for 14 months and I finally feel like I'm adjusting to it. Humans are also dependent on the energies of mother earth, and the seasons also affect our metabolism. Autumn is about to start and then weight can increase and our body wants more fat. Especially if you live in the northern hemisphere. When I woke up to my spiritual path, I better understand the importance of food, also in terms of energy. Animals give us a great sacrificial gift that we should respect. Like our ancestors, I always "bless" my food and give thanks for the sacrificial gift.
On the subject of raw dairy, I can't touch cow dairy, pasteurised is the worst, but I still respond negatively to raw cow dairy, milk or cheese, but still respond well to goat and sheep dairy. I eat a lot of pasteurised goat cheese and butter. I don't have zero symptoms with goat milk, but cheese and butter I seem to have no problems with. Dunno if that's worth experimenting with!
The waking between 1 & 3 am is classic histamine. Although it’s interesting it happens to you after upping fat! My sleep improved a lot after eating more fat, like a stick of butter a day I’d just eat it in chunks before bed. I’ve had this same type of insomnia for years now! It has drastically improved on carnivore but i am not adding more fibers in to feed my microbiome
I’m wondering if insomnia is related to the quality of the meat. Not to throw anyone off their game, but lemon balm made into tea does reduce cortisol. It’s better than eating carbs.
Anyone has negative experience with minerals? All went find for nearly 3 month and all over sudden my blood pressure dropped over 20 points, racing heart, tingling sensation in hands, feet and face. increased salt, magnesium, potassium and some calcium, heart rate seems steady now, but tingling sensation still there, also waking up in the middle of the night feeling dehydrated.
I had that over last summer visiting my daughter (everything different) but still carnivore for one year. I thought it was my body's inability to do gluconeogenesis when my brain needed glucose at night. Vastly undereating I guess. Night sweats and night terrors a few times but sleeping 7-8 hours. Periodic bouts of extreme dizziness during the day, especially on exertion. When mowing at my home in the heat have experienced the tingling fingers and around lips and nose and extreme drop in blood pressure. But it has subsided now for a few months. I have monkeyed around with drinking half dose of electrolytes slowly through the day, adding some salt to food (too much salt causes uncomfortable slight swelling in feet) lowering protein, upping butter and bacon grease and tallow and eating five egg yolks a day and two egg whites, eating sardines once a week, eating 1/4 lb. of beef liver three weeks out of the month (Dr. Berry) and of course eating 30 gm of beef at two meals a day with periodic additions of dried beef snacks from time to time if I'm still hungry and two tablespoons of salted butter before bed. It has been a weird and huge journey getting fat adapted and running on ketones BUT I AM STILL HERE at 18 months carnivore.
I have suffered from insomnia for over six decades. I found that white noise helps immensely. The other thing that works for me that breaks every rule is to turn on several strings of blue fairy lights and read with no other lights on for about 30 minutes. Often I start yawning long before 20 minutes are up. Blue light puts me to sleep.
Thank you for sharing this. I experience waking at 330 every night when i drop my carbs but i feel more energetic and less like a zombie in the morning. I find my sleep worsens the week before my period.
Hi, very interesting that you have recorded things so meticulously and have been able to use that data to improve your sleep. I have been using cream to increase my fat intake. We have Double Cream, Extra thick Double Cream and Clotted Cream in the UK. Absolutely delicious but it has taken some time for my stomach to become adapted as I was suffering heart burn.
wow! I went carnivore about 1 month ago and now I'm facing the exact same problem! I wake up at 3a.m. and have hard time trying to get to sleep! I tracked my macros and realized I'm getting almost a 1:1 ratio fats/protein and the 80% fat is about 2:1 ratio fats/protein! So I'm missing a lot of fat in my meals and this may be the cause of my issue too! Thanks a lot for sharing! I'´ll implement some adjustments right now and see what happens!
This is very interesting. I’m still learning about all of this. What types of fat can I consume other than butter and fat from the beef? I ate part of a ribeye last night and I just can’t eat the fat. 🥴 Thank you!
I find it amazing that myself and so many others are so sick and feel like shit eating regular foods while the media and medical field are acting like nothings wrong.

Protein energizes the body, fat calms it. I like eating my protein as my first meal, and fat as my last meal (percentage wise). 🙂

Oxalates shedding? Does this ooz thru your skin, does it smell?
Yeah I experienced oxylate dumping in the form of what felt like grains of sand causing my eyes to water profusely as those hard grains/particles came out of the tear ducts.
I thought it would never end but after a few weeks it suddenly ended, and the dumping was complete.
It took me awhile to realize what this was, I just thought it was allergies or an eye irritation of some kind but now I am quite sure it was ocúpate dumping.😊
@@Papacarnivore15Are you using dairy to shed oxalates?
Is this shedding described anywhere in scientific literature?
Does it take years to rid the body of oxalates and certain plant compounds?
I struggle with sleep but noticed that getting sunlight helps.
Sunlight makes natural melatonin in the brain. Taking melatonin pills doesn't put this melatonin in the brain.
I get uv b rays in a tanning bed. It adds 2 - 3 hrs of sleep per night for me after a couple of weeks. Sun is sooo key for sleep.
@@christyconatser2680Thanks...never thought about that....
First, you are looking very good and healthy 😁. I really fought insomnia for several weeks until I ran across a lady directing us to take a little salt and eat some fat like butter when having these issues. It has really helped. I also have noticed, keeping up with electrolytes helps as well.
Dr Elisabeth Bright suggests to keep a tsp of butter by your bed. When you wake up, take that tsp. Hopefully will correct after a while.
I do the old-fashioned cure: warm up some milk (maybe half a cup) in the microwave and toss it down. So butter might also work or maybe cream cheese.
@@Pondapple milk? Lots of sugar in milk!!! No way.

Great to know your sleeping well. I am struggling with sleeplessness on this diet. Can you make a video on how you increase your fat and reduce protein with examples. Thank You.
I second this, i wanna also know what she eats to increase her fat intake
To get more fat get meat from a butcher shop like ribeye roast or ny strip roast I get them cut 2” thick steaks with all the fat still on it also you can add butter to your meals or Philadelphia cream cheese the one thats package in in a block
Also investing in blue light blocking glasses helps with sleep blue light in the evening increases stress hormone cortisol I recommend the defender shield 99% shielding ones also try to get outside for natural light and add vitamin d3 if you can’t get sunlight i use the sports research 5,000 iu once a day with a meal it’s absorbed better with fat preferably earlier in the day
Also ask butcher to make beef mince 50/50 or 60/40 fat or 70/30 fat depending on what ratio your body needs ❤

Ugh. Good luck to you. I know the struggle!
What’s definitely helped me with sleep, is grounding. At least half an hour before bed. However, make sure you are actually grounded.
With energy, I wasn’t drinking enough water. Now when I do focus on consuming more water, it’s definitely night and day difference in my energy levels
How do you get grounded?
@@louisefairhurst6403

A thoughtful analysis of why sleep quality tanks for some people is long overdue in the carnivore sphere. 👍 🙏 😘
So am I. Been 3 months carnivore
Thanks Neah
Did it work for you?
@@cherylgow8084 how are you now? have you tried high fat or more salt?

Same here ....Am starting Day 9 today and have had terrible insomnia for 2 nights ...which seems to have thrown a monkey wrench in the whole thing. 🙏
I'm on a carnivore diet and sometimes only sleep for two or three hours a night. I'm not tired during the day though, so I'm not sure whether to regard it as a problem. We are told we need eight hours of sleep, but maybe that's just another fallacy.
That’s wonderful. You have more of your life.
Be careful. We need sleep. And 3-4 hours is dangerous for your health long term. Please try to add a few more hours to your sleep. Try NSDR protocol etc. Cheers 🙌
I sleep a lot less since I became ketovore…
I now go to bed a lot earlier (I just get tired earlier) and I wake up much earlier in the morning, usually between 4 and 5:30.
As Dr Kiltz says… Carnivore should really be called
FATOVORE!!! 😊😊😊
Hope this helps!!
Thanks for the replies. I try to buy the fattiest cuts of meat, but there is a limit to what I can get. I have the butcher mince it up and I fry it with eggs. I'm not sure what else I can do; I don't get on with dairy.

Take small snack of fat in evening (1 TB butter or mct oil) and the waking will stop. It comes from hormone spike from dysregulated hormones. The fat resolves it

Can it actually cause adrenal fatique? I’m off carnivore but even after adding carbs in form of fruit & honey i still got the symptoms of waking up wired and tired in the middle of the night between 1-3am.

Great info!
Thank you! I have thought about making some at home. Maybe I'll try that after the 90 days lion.
Thank you!
Thanks for the update, Very helpful
Same here
Good on you for finding out through listening to your body and not someone else's dogmatic advice approach.
Thank you so much for the education, tried lion diet , failed in three days, you are amazing!
Thanks Neah, this was great!
❤️❤️
THANK YOU! Found you while looking for an EARRING video... but I NEVER sleep so this is GREAT!
Did it work for u? Upping fat?
Good info . . . one thing about gluconeogenesis, though -- it's almost impossible to eat so much protein that glucose levels rise enough to wreck your ketosis.
Hi Boo! ❤
Dr Elizabeth Bright said sometime eating a bit of fat when you wake up can help some people get back to sleep
I use glycine powder from that now. Company and that works amazing for helping you sleep.😊😊
I have had the same I started Greek yogurt plain with a little high quality honey it is great
This was is a major problem when I try to go 100% carnivore. Can’t wait to see what you have to say. I’m amazed how some carnivores say they sleep so much better on carnivore. I also start to lose energy as well.
Maybe you have oxalate dumping in the brain 🤷🏻♀️
Day 9 of Carnivore. I guess l need to research the difference between Carnivore and the Lion Diet. Glad l found your page. 💥💕
Ive gone off carni for the past year and i can definitely tell a difference. As soon as i eat sugar my scalp starts itching
Love the t-shirt ❤
Super helpful stuff here. I have been on a long insomnia journey as well and am determined to solve it! The extra fat might just be exactly what I need to do
Yes! I also find higher fat is the best for most women. Working with a few women in menopause and increasing their fat seems to be helping them. Thank you for sharing.
I'm 58. Bit over a yr into menopause. I find getting enough fat really helps me.
@@BrassyBrunette me too, it was hard to wrap my head around that for a while
@@healthycarnivore Me too, as an 80's girl that avoided all fats& ate cardboard food, I still have aversion to it. In my mind it's wrong - same with egg yolks I used to give to my dogs. It sure explains alot of things tho
@@maddworld3317 yolks are healthier anyway.
Awesome! It means an experiment of 1. Glad you both are doing well!
My sleep was bad before . When I try keto or low carb or carnivore its even worse.. For me I need to add carbs for sleep and definitely more calories . Too much protein has me up every hour. Great video. Its torture not sleeping
Can you do a video on the status of psoriasis? 🙏🙏
I add grass fed butter (I get mine at Aldi) to my steaks or ground beef, chops, fish, whatever.
By adding butter liberally it ups the fat content plus it tastes great too!!
Since I’ve increased my fat content to 75-85% I have tons more energy and sleep
Through the night very well. 😊
Me too
Man, I hope I can reintroduce butter. That would be the life right there!
@perrylau5807 thank you so much! I am trying some ghee again but I would love to find a butter i can do! Thank you so much for sharing this!

You're welcome! I hope it works for you!
Interesting, I am facing this problem of waking up at 2.30 or 3.3o am on ketogenic diet. I am thankful it's because of protein fat ratio, hopefully fix it as u did.
Saleem Raza.....Pakistan
how's it going with your sleep?
Thanks. I’ll try to add more fat in. I haven’t slept thru the night in forever.
Hopefully it will work
I hope so!
This a fascinating idea. I’ve not heard this before. Definitely trying this. Thanks
Yes! I've found I need to actually be in nutritional ketosis to get the best rest😊 I just have to be careful not to eat too much fat or I gain weight
I'm 5'4" 120 and wearing a small. It's pretty long, almost covers the behind
Thank you, I appreciate your meticulous approach, I have also been waking up at 3, I also did some methodical experimentation and wound up with the same conclusion, I eat a chunk of browned frozen butter an hour before bedtime and sleep through the night now. It's hard getting enough fat through just lion.
What type of fat? I don't have access to beef fat here.
Any animal fat.
Types of fat: tallow, lard, dripping, duck fat, ghee, suet, cod liver oil
I have sleep issues, probably not getting enough fat... it would be great to have some advise on how to increase the fat intake !
Great video very informative. Thank you.
Tryptophan and theanine can help. Other supplements that did not work for me. but may be helpful are Pharma gaba, Seriphos, CBD sleep and melatonin.
I'm so sorry! I have heard increasing electrolytes helps some people also. Are you taking any right now?
@ 5.20 ''cheese''. I had to pause you to go get a bit of cheese lol. Love your work Neah, Ben is a lucky bloke. From Australia!
My question is, how did humans evolve eating? I'd assume they mostly ate animal meat of rabbit squirrels etc, but most, if not all animals in the wild are very lean. So with things like high fat consumption, how would our ancestors been able to accomplish this?
May be their fat requirement was less due to our lives these days is very demanding needeing the extra boost.
It's a starvation way of eating and we have to show the world we no longer need it
Thanks for sharing important information.🙏
I've been following the Carniovore lifestyle for 14 months and I finally feel like I'm adjusting to it.
Love this!
Excellent quality video!! Thankyou!!
Very clear, well-presented, thanks
12:11 great! How do you add fat without diary?
Ever since I ran out of raw milk, sleep has been getting worse. I'll see if it changes as soon as I get some more.
I am not on Instagram and would love to see on a you tube video what you eat on a high fat lion diet
This is very interesting. I’m still learning about all of this. What types of fat can I consume other than butter and fat from the beef? I ate part of a ribeye last night and I just can’t eat the fat. 🥴 Thank you!
I get lamb fat from my local butcher, and find it very tasty!
Interesting finding re sleep and fat. I'll be curious to see if that holds up over time. cheers
