I watched this before replacing my own brake booster this weekend and I think I learned something helpful to others:
Getting under the dash sucks! I tried laying upside down in the driver seat and got stuck. I tried coming in from the side, that was massively uncomfortable so I got one nut out and called it a day.
Next day, I put a tall stool next to the door on the driver side, a kitchen chair next to that and a towel on the floor. I was able to lay across the counter stool with my right arm on the floor and I got all the nuts just fine. I could put my feet on the kitchen chair to help me get out from under the dash. It really made it go a lot faster and a lot more comfortable.
Also, you will need a 12mm deep well socket to brake the upper 2 nuts free, a regular socket isn't quite deep enough and there's not enough room for an open/box wrench. I'm driving a 94 4Runner with a stick, hopefully this helps others who don't like crawling under the dash.
Ha, I know what you mean. It is not easy getting under the dash. You make some good suggestions and I hope you were able to get it replaced without any other issues :)
@@BucksBe Yah, I'm a little loder now. 40 years ago, I could just put the driver seat back down and lay upside down under the dash. This time, my stomach got stuck on the steering wheel and I had trouble getting out, adjusting the depth of the plunger was a chore, hard to make sure your measurements are right and the depth on a 4Runner is .60 to .65 milimeters. That's not a lot of tolerance. If you hold your gauge wrong, you'll get a wrong reading but other than that, smooth!
totally understand stool and kitchen door to elevate and support your lower body and legs and bring em up to same level as your upper body so you dont break your back

I've done this job too. The first thing you need to do is take the brake pedal off it'll make taking those nuts off so much easier.

If you take out the drivers side seat it makes it a lot easier to get under the dashboard and more comfortable

Does your 95 4runner have rear anti-lock brakes? What's the part number for the brake booster you installed and where did you get it?
RockAuto got that brake booster for literally $60
Where did you get your new brake booster?
Mine is making like a air noise when I press the pedal and I got to hit it father than normal to stop it, could this be the problem
There is a test you can do to see if the brake booster is bad. Check out the Haynes manual or UA-cam "Check Brake Booster". It's a really easy way to determine if your brake booster needs to be replaced. Good luck to you!!
I have the whistle brake... I opted for a salvage Toy booster from ebay.
Mines doing the same and I'm bout to drop $250 on a remanufactured one so if that wasn't the problem please tell me now
