I just bought one that is garage kept 2002 convertible , 86k miles elderly kept just sitting in a garage unused for months..guy wanted 8k since it had no spec of rust( I live in the rust belt) . But it is a 02 and needs new rubber parts, suspension ,oil, fluids, new top since old ones glass broke new tires and new timing belt. I talked him down to 3800. Was really hard convincing but I managed to make the cok smoker budge. It turned on and ran like a new car man. I just got to fix it up my mechanic said .

In 2005, I was 21 when I bought my 2004 Toyota Solara. Before I bought it, I remember thinking the Solara was one of the most beautiful, sleek, and stylish cars on the road. And 15 years later, I’m still driving it with 147,000 miles on it. It was a great purchase and I’ll definitely be buying another Toyota after my Solara dies...IF it ever dies. About five years ago I bought a 2003 Toyota Solara convertible for about half of the book value. It had a lot of issues including smoking at start up and oil leaks. It was obvious that the previous owners did no maintenance. I couldn't figure out the smoking until I was changing the valve cover gaskets and noticed there was a lot of oil gunk among the valves. I started scooping out the gunk while my wife worked on the valve cover. By the time we finished there was gunk the size of a softball. No smoking or leaks since then. Like Scotty said the engine and transmission is bulletproof. Thanks Scotty for teaching me how to save so much money doing my own car repairs.

    Great video
Mine is a 2000 Solara, red with beige conveyable top I named 🍒 Cherry.
It gets complements often and runs like a top.
Best for warm climates and cities with smooth roads.
Got mine in South Florida. I absolutely love my 🍒 Cherry

Bought my '06 Solara in 2017 with only 42k miles on her. Still loving the car!

I was fortunate enough to work as a new car prep / used car detailer for a Toyota dealership back in 1999 when these were introduced . I fell in love with the black , red metalic and the silver ones ! Wouldn't mind owning one now . thank , you
