Welcome to class twelve of the SOC 119 summer course! SOC 119 an introductory class on race and culture that is taught by Dr. Sam Richards at Penn State University in the fall and spring semesters. The summer online course is created from a combination of classes throughout the past four years. Today’s lecture was recorded on April 12, 2018.
Did you watch an ad before today’s video? That’s because our UA-cam channel is partnered! But don’t worry… Sam isn’t trying to make money for his own pocket. All money goes through a University controlled account and is used for purposes of purchasing equipment, and t-shirts for the live stream team.

10:40 radical people? Who’s this guy 🤣🤣🤣🤣
First
I am personally against Hijab.
I believe we should strive for a society where men can control their emotions and woman can choose what to wear freely
Hijab is not worn because of men. We wear it because our creator has commanded it. Men still have responsibility to lower their gaze and not harm women. It is in the Quran.
@@zakirahtheniqabiYeah you are free to choose your ethical rules, but I wouldn't do something without logic just because it's written somewhere
@@Alexlinnk Allah is all wise and he knows what is best for us. Allah commanding me is enough for me. The Quran is perfect and has no errors nor has anyone been able to bring anything like it linguistically. Miracles mentioned in the Quran are things that could not have been known 1400 years ago.
@@zakirahtheniqabi That's your journey to confront the idea of existence of a God.
Anyway I think you are better believing in one, the alternative is too depressing, so I won't try to convince you.
@@Alexlinnk I am a revert/ convert so I definitely have confronted that idea. I did my research and came to the conclusion that there is one God. Everything being an accident is like a bomb going off and landing safely in your car with your seatbelt buckled. Just something to think about.
