    I like this. Except for the part where he says that the New Testament and Quran are the same. They're not. The New Testament says Jesus Christ IS God. The Quran says He's just a prophet. Huge difference. The books teach VERY different things, regardless of what the followers do or not.

      Jasmine Ali I don’t think it’s right to say that every Muslim does that because I have actually never heard of it before this video.

      Well, the reason why they are telling at the age of nine because maybe saudi girls have an early mens and so by then they have to wear it as we all clearly know that as we hit puberty, we have to be modest or should I say we have to be protected from fitnah. There you go. Peace to all.

    Very interesting class. One thing i would like to add in answer to the question of, What would you say about the Sudanese girl's lack of Hijab, is that Islam is basically giving us a crash course on outward beauty and inner beauty. On judgement, on respect, on forgiveness, on dignity.
    It is saying here, that one girl outwardly pious and in full hijab could be a sinner privately or not, still no Muslim should judge her by her outward appearance or otherwise..And on the other hand, a girl with no hijab, pierced eyebrows, tattoos, midriff showing, could be a saint at heart. She might or might not, cultural obligations aside, decide to implement hijab later on. As Allah clearly mentions, that "Only He knows what is in the hearts." Rest of the concept of a Hijab is personal connection with your Lord, with levels of faith, with your respect for yourself, with your choice of lifestyle. Hijab is a choice. Islam is a choice. Your heart chooses to be a Muslim. Your heart chooses the Hijab. (Hope that clarifies a few things, Salam everyone!)

    When moslim stand up to pray in a mosque they have to touch each other for one reason is to transmitt the energy , it is not radicalisim

      Staying Close to one another in a straight row:
      "Anas relates; the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Straighten your rows and keep close together, for indeed I see you from behind my back.’"
      "Abu Umamah relates the Prophet ﷺ saying: ‘Straighten your rows, stand shoulder to shoulder, be soft upon your brother and fill the gaps, for the devil enters through the gaps like the small lambs."
      "Abu Mas‘ud al-Ansari related that the Prophet ﷺ would touch our shoulders at the prayer, saying: ‘Straighten [your rows] and do not differ, lest your hearts differ.’"
      "Ibn ‘Abbas relates; the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘The best of you are those whose shoulders are the gentlest in the prayer."
      "Anas also relates that the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Stand close together in your rows, keep them near each other and stand neck to neck. By Him in whose hand is my life, I see the devil entering between the gaps as do the small lambs."
      "Al-Nu‘man b. Bashir related that the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Straighten your rows. For by Allah, if you do not straighten your rows, Allah will separate your hearts.’"
      Now for the Feet:
      "Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, went on to say: ‘I saw each one of us join shoulder to shoulder and ankle bone to ankle bone with that of his companion.’"
      "at the end of the 6th hadith, al-Nu‘man b. Bashir, may Allah be pleased with him, remarked: ‘I saw each man join shoulder to shoulder with that of his companion, knee to knee with that of his companion, and ankle bone to ankle bone with that of his [companion].’"
      However this Sunnah was not practiced as in physically touching feet, for most of History. Generally the most important thing would be the straight rows and keep close together. However there is nothing about transmitting energy, I really don't know where you get that information from?

    I think the idea of bridging is nice, but it is also a bit misleading. Certainly, there are a lot of similarities between Abraham's religions, but there are also significant differences not just about the gestures during prayer. Also the whole thing about covering and uncovering is more complex than just Islam telling like this and Christianity like that. There are clear differences within Christianity and within Islam not just based on personal view or preference, which is not surprising considering the number of different countries where those religions are practised and to some extend similar is valid in Jewish community. We can always argue that it is just about personal choice and peace, but that is completely ignoring the fact how religion was always also part of politics and used to justify a lot of violence. Something the professor acknowledged himself in other lecture.

    I watched the whole lecture and was happy to see open minded lecturer trying to bridge the gap and clarify misconception about Islam. However, I would like to comment a little bit about some of the wrong information which were given by the lecturer and sadly by the Muslims he brought on stage particularly Basim. It seems to me Basim is not Sonni but from the Sheia sect and those are a minority sect compared to Sonni. The way he pronounced the Muslims greeting was wrong (he voiced the letter L which is unspoken in the word "Alslamo", it is like the K in the word "know" he also did not do the call for performing the prayer correctly. With regard to "Hijab" the lecture actually did not clarify the concept correctly ... "Hijab" is not about putting a scarf around your neck and above your hair ...this is only part of it "Hijab" is to cover the whole body of a Muslim woman except her face and her hands with untight unrevealing clothes. So most of the Muslim girls who were on stage were not really wearing true "Hijab". The lecturer should have done his homework better by reading first from original Muslim sources about the material he wanted to lecture about or at least brought a scholar from a Sonni Islamic center or Mosque. All over, doing such lectures with all the problems I highlighted still a good move towards better understanding of different faiths and cultures and hopefully in the future a better more accurate info will be given.

    @ 22:15 Did he say some radicals believe this??! I believe this and know many people who do and we are NOT radicals. This guy is clearly biased and belongs to a certain sect. You should do better next time and find someone who will not blur out such disrespectful things.and have such biases. Like radical ??

    As a Catholic, it feels awkward doing the dancing and loud noises that Evangelical Christians prefer on their praise worship. It is not something being practiced when attending a mass especially with the culmination of the Eucharist which should be a solemn one. I guess certain traditions, doctrines and practices that have been followed for centuries by Catholics must remain.

With all respect for your guest and friend Bassim what he did in the end is not from Islam it’s a bid3a a renovation isn’t accepted in islam! And I think it’s shia and shia are misguided! With all my deep respect for you Sam!!!

    • @mariaamir3779
      @mariaamir3779 5 років тому +3

      It's not for us to decide who is misguided and who is guided. We are an Ummah, we come as a whole. Not misguided and not divided. If you accept being a part of the Prophet's (PBUH) Ummah, you have to accept Shia and Sunni both. They make up more than 20% of the Muslim population. My best friend is Shia, and she has a heart purer than most Muslims I know.

    • @mariamnafisah6785
      @mariamnafisah6785 3 роки тому +1

      He was maybe just standing there out of pure respect for the respect they provided to him whil introducing him and Islam in the lecture. We are not to judge anyone. And wether he is shia or sunni he is still muslim and follower of the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed saw. If we unite instead of divide each others by sects the world would see the true beauty of Islam.

    "When I look at the Koran and the new Testament it`s the same book"
    Really ?
    Me, as an agnositc engineer could not see that at all..
    First, It`s about two very different people..
    The new testament is about a pacifistic itinerant preacher, a reformer, whose most violent act is known, is to vandalize some moneychangers tables in a temple, with a message of love every human being like god himself : ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ (Matthew 25:40), and also things about throwing stones and so on.
    The Koran is about a young man, who once had quite similar ideas, but then turned into a warlord leading 10.000 soldiers and killed quite a lot of people, with messages like "Then, when the sacred months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them, capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every ambush. " (Sure 9, 4) or "Those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day - even though they were given the scriptures, and who do not hold as unlawful that which Allah and His Messenger have declared to be unlawful, and who do not follow the true religion - fight against them until they pay tribute out of their hand and are utterly subdued" (Sure 9, 29)
    Not that Christains have really listend to what Jesus had told them, and still there is a lot of Pharisee - behavior among "christian" extremists, but in the new testament, they can hardly find a word to proof, that "Jesus had told them to do so" but i doubt that they ever had read the book.. (They wouldn't always refer to the 10 commandments, but to sermon on the mount, if they had)
    So -it`s this "You have to understand Mohammad as a child of his time" , but - Jesus.. na.. you can let him talk tody with his topics, and he would be still up to date.. and especailly with the "christian extremists" he might be upset..
    I don`t really know - because i think in Germany, we do not have much of them.. and none of them are violent..
    And talking about the Hijab may be quite a nice thing in the US, but it`s quite different in Iran..
    So.. another lesson, that seems not to take care of more than one view, and seems very railroadet to me..
