Not all speedrunners have the confidence or silky smooth voice to do voiceovers well lol, but yes, full explain runs are great to watch. It's why I originally liked watching the AGDQ runs before the organisers ruined the event.
Agreed. Your twilight princess video is also awesome for the same reasons. I am all for no commentary runs, and I watch those as well, but this is commentary done right, especially for a speed run! Great video!
This time-strict mechanic makes this game so fun to watch speedruns for. I’m so used to just going straight to the Anju/Kafei conclusion and waiting patiently, meanwhile over here “Alright yeah now’s the perfect time to real quick get 14 heart containers, 39 masks, an extra 5 bottles, and a fresh pack of beer”
@@bewildebeest i was AMAZED that you got it on the first race and hit the goron out of the way. i thought it was scripted that you always lose the first race because the gorons always pass me on the straight at the end
I find it funny that normal 12 minute UA-cam videos can never keep my attention. I’m always switching off of them but I watch this for like four hours straight yesterday and then finished it today. One of my favorite Speed runs to watch.
This video has become my nightly routine, I watch a bit of this then fall asleep, even if I've seen the entire video I reply it idk why but I just like this that much 😂

Ofc it’s taken me two days but amazing content and amazing commentary. Thank you so much been wanting to watch something like this for so long.
This is by far the best zelda speedrun I've ever watched for any zelda game. It doesn't have to be a world record. You made a speedrun extremely entertaining and educational with comprehensive explanations as well as a chill vibe. Def earned a fan. If you have a patreon or anything let me know I'd happily support!
Commentary on speed runs is fantastic media. Much rather watch this than a world record where a streamer is talking about current events with chat the whole time.
I've been using this video to sleep lately and it really helps. The nostalgiac sounds and music mixed with your relaxing talking just knocks me out instantly. I like how you aren't being super loud and talking constantly, you're only saying things you need to say when you need to say them. Thank you for this
Right?! It's always refreshing to encounter someone who can just... let things be silent for a moment. It's nice! And tbh feeling like you constantly have to "fill space" sucks, and listening to someone do so is exhausting in itself!
Great commentary. I feel like most people talking over a 6 hour run they did previously would try way too hard to fill the whole thing with constant chatter. Nice to hear you explaining the necessary/interesting things and then just letting the gameplay happen.
I actually quite like this "good speedrunner but not their pb" vibe, it feels chill and you get to see what the bonks and backups look like so it's more educational than a perfect run, but it's also way better than anything i could do and still entertaining from that perspective as well.
A 6-hour speedrun with full commentary certainly wasn't what I expected to see in my recommended videos, but it was super fascinating all the way through. The routing was probably my favorite part - the existence of events at fixed in-game times which you have to plan around makes for quite a unique run compared to most other games. I can't tell you how many times I was like "no way dude" whenever you'd mention having to do A, B, C, X, Y, and Z before the clock hits whatever time, but then you did it and I was just like whoa. (Also aw frick now I'm getting the 6.5-hour Twilight Princess commentated run in my recommended too... guess I'll be spending a bunch more of my time on that now :D)
44:02 “On the way north… we’re going to bonk.” I enjoy the funny comments mixed in sporadically. Also, does anyone else find his voice oddly relaxing? Good work.
Not using the lens of truth and just no-scoping or blind jumping gives my nostalgic heart life. I always tried for those as a kid but i could never do most of them. Started to doubt it was even possible. I think i did manage to climb up to darmani's grave without the lens once or twice, but it took many tries.
I so appreciate being able to watch and enjoy speedrun content because it’s being explained to me. So many speed runners don’t ever do commentary and so while impressive, runs (especially of this length and longer) tend to get glossed over or skipped. Especially for me personally it looks impressive but without having any idea what’s going on or why it’s very difficult to follow. Such an underrated channel. Just watched your Twilight Princess 100% commentated in one sitting while I worked, and adored every second. Super chill vibe, great sense of humour, 11/10
One of the best speed run gameplay commentaries I've ever heard. Clear, informative, and concise explanations to go with extremely high level gameplay. You do an amazing job of explaining everything while not rambling or just filling time. I also enjoy how you mention things that don't happen - the other strats that exist that you don't do, or little RNG/enemy movement bits that could have potentially happened even if they didn't. Also, your voice is extremely calming and pleasant to listen to. Fantastic stuff!
Your commentary is absolutely perfect. Slowly getting through this video before bed and it is highly interesting but also your voice is calming and soothing enough to help me get to sleep. This is also I think THE most fascinating game to do a glitchless 100% speed run for. The complex interconnectivity, the sheer amount of items that all have bespoke highly variable mechanics and requirements to attain, the hard time limit, the amount of movement options available, I could go on. Fantastic work on a great and very interesting run!
This video legitimately made me subscribe. Super chill vibe, interesting commentary, and you made it easy to follow for someone who doesn't know the game very well at all. I love this style of commentary too, it feels more purposeful and I like that you get time to rest between the high level play for 6 hours and presenting it to us.
Altering the flow of time itself just to make sure you're home in time for grandmas story. Wholesome. I really liked this! I always feel so lost when I watch speedruns but you explained everything so well I could follow even though it's been forever since I've played!
I have re-watched this at least 7 times now, this is my guilty pleasure to watch while I am working. Its chill vibe but there is a sense of urgency so it keeps me working on track and also entertained. Thank you for this Video.
Finished the first 2 hours 10 minutes, bookmarking this to come back to this tomorrow. Great commentary and explanation of all the lingo (and also you have one of the most documentary-ish voices I've seen, nice and clear and the pacing is spot on.
I absolutely adore this kind of speedrun presentation. If I don't just want something w/o any voice over to chill to, this is exactly the kind of voice companion to a run that I want. These days I almost never watch speedruns from a twitch video just because chat interaction takes away from what I would consider the pb (or wr)'s artform, so to speak. (not that I'm knocking speedrunners for streaming mind you--I watch that too but only live. If I'm going to a video instead of live cast it's cuz I want a different kind of content, and this is exactly what I've been looking for but hardly ever find.) Thanks a bunch for making and uploading this!
I've watched the entire thing across two days now, and I gotta say you're an amazing content creator. Clear informative commentary, highlighting interesting quirks and reasons behind your strategies. This was a joy to watch. Also, what's your connection to Pinchcliffe if you don't mind me asking?
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Glitchless strats in Majora's Mask are often overshadowed by the plethora of glitches available, but I think they're still pretty cool. I don't have a personal connection to Pinchcliffe; I covered the theme song because a (Norwegian) friend of mine requested it. Seems like a cozy childhood-memories-type movie, though, from the clip I watched.
@@bewildebeest Sounds like something a Norwegian would do. That movie is our national treasure, haha. Yeah I kinda prefer watching glitchless, that way the runner actually interacts with more of the game, and usually in a manner I can understand. Once things get as broken as they do in the old Zelda titles, there is simply not much game left in any%. Great to know that it can be done that fast, but not very interesting to watch.
@@hakonmarcus I know what you mean. Some runners feel the same way, so there are categories specifically designed to keep more of the game in runs. I'd recommend checking out runs of 100% NMG (no major glitches), All Masks, and All Fairy Rewards if you want to see some glitched runs that don't, for example, warp to the credits. I personally think even the extremely broken categories are cool, but they're certainly not everyone's cup of tea.
I just now discovered that you make post-commentaries. I'll eventually watch this all the way through, but for now: thanks so much for putting in the effort, I really appreciate it
I'm halfway through the run currently, but I must say this is a great video and probably the best I've ever seen for speedrunning. Firstly, I'm amazed at how much you were able to get done in one cycle. I've always been curious just how much someone could finish without a single reset and while I've tried myself, this certainly puts it to shame. Second, I really like your delivery on this form of commentary. Not only is it informative and straight to the point, but it is also refreshingly very mature and subdued, which let's me focus more on the run and what you're doing mechanically. There are far too many "personalities" on UA-cam that just try to charm you with the funnies, speedrunners included, but this has little to none of that abnoxiousness. It's very much welcome and embraced by me, I assure you of that. Keep up the great content and the runs. This was very entertaining to watch, especially for someone like me who has had quite a few years towards playing this game and falling in love with it more and more each time I played.
This may sound weird but i have insomnia and ive been listening to your commentary videos to help me fall asleep. You have a very soothing voice, and your commentary is very relaxing!
The commentary makes all the difference in this incredibly comfy video. I've been chipping at it for a couple days now and been having a blast thanks to nostalgia and the speedrun tricks and strats. Thank you for the hard work that went into making this.
This is now my comfort video to fall asleep: been using it for a solid month and a half now (edit: it’s been a year and I still mostly only use this lol) and feel it deserves a like and comment by now lol. Hope you can make more content like this, with voice overs of speed runs talking about the actions you take and strategies people can use! Best of luck to your channel, I’ll keep watching from my sidelines lol.
had no clue what to watch to wind down, so i just typed "speedrun with commentary" and your channel/this video was the first to pop up and i am so impressed !! the quality of the commentary, good balance of letting the gameplay breathe and explaining stuff that's happening, being really detailed but not treating the viewer as if they've never heard of video games before lmao. great work cant wait to see more
You’re chill AF and I appreciated this commentary. Never seen this channel until now. Going to watch your other videos later. Thank you for your content!
Dude, this is genuinely incredible. Thanks for doing the commentary, i really enjoy learning about all the optimizations and glitches and whatnot that go into these runs!
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 Very awesome! Thanks for posting this! Finding good speedrun commentary is harder than I'd suspect it should be, let alone the idea of a 6 hour commentary!
42:12 Wait... did you just...? [rapidly typing into Google] [reading...] ... Speedruns like this can be so damned helpful for learning more intentionally designed facets that you don't even need to master glitching to make use of in one's own playthrough. Case in point, from this one moment, I learned of the holy power of the Deku Stick equal to the Master Sword. Now I wanna play OoT and MM while trying to make use of it more.
I don't know how you don't have more subscribers! You're a hidden gem! This was the best glitchless run I've seen and the commentary is great. You have a very soothing chill voice :)
I enjoy seeing glitchless speedruns of games I like - while it's interesting to see how much a game can be "broken" I do like seeing what can be done with the game as "intended." With that though... Is there any category that's even more "as intended?" Not sure how that would be defined, but for example, I'm sure the programmers didn't "intend" for a bomb to allow you to jump up higher than normal - it's just an unintended side effect from how they designed what happens when you get hit from a bomb. Anyways, great video! This is my favorite game of all time so it's a lot of fun to see this, and I enjoy the laid back way you approach speedrunning.
Glad you enjoyed it! I can't think of another speedrun category that is even more as intended. I think I remember hearing that some MM speedrunners did a tongue-in-cheek "intended%" race one time, but at least in the community at present, most speedrunners aren't interested in playing the game *exactly* as intended. Compared to how crazy glitched runs get, though, and especially with SRM, this category is pretty tame. That said, you might want to check out a no-hit run, where the object is to play the entire game without taking any hits, without regard for how long things take. I'm not totally familiar with the ruleset most play with, but from what I've heard, it's slightly more restrictive than the glitchless speedrun ruleset, and obviously bomb boosts specifically aren't used because they would involve taking a hit. Off the top of my head, three runners I know who have done this are MajinPhil, Samura1man, and DJCarmichael.
Not usually a huge fan of commentary on speed runs but you have such a soothing voice! Plus your commentary feels like I'm sitting next to you watching you play instead of just through a video screen. Great stuff!
Have fun! If you haven't already, I'd recommend joining the Majora's Mask speedrunning discord server linked on this website so you can ask questions: www.zeldaspeedruns.com/
I love this, this is great. Almost therapeutic, honestly, I can imagine how nice it must've been to record the commentary, just spend a day explaining your run to a general public
56:30 MM is my favorite Zelda game, I’m 30 and I’ve been playing it for years just now and again I always pick it back up! I never knew you could just shoot a fire arrow at the center and skip the entire flaming stick race. That’s amazing.
This was my first Zelda game as a kid, it was a lot of fun learning the various ways to cheese the puzzles. And as for things like rolling into the dungeon - everything in the run that looks effortless I have failed many times in the past and have put lots of time into practicing. Nobody is born with it!
Thank you for adding commentary, I can't really focus on videos without someone talking but I've always wanted to watch a speedrun so this is perfect! Thank you!
It took a long time, but I truly enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for explaining it in such detail, not skipping anything, and your voice is also great. Now let me check the rest of your channel :D
I think this was the first commentated run I saw on this channel and it's still the one I come back to most. I love them all, but something about the fluctuating time constraints within a marathon of a run in your style is just too good.
In addition to being engaging and interesting enough for me to *actively* watch several times, man, this video has helped me get to sleep countless times and I owe you more than one. I owe you like, a dozen. It's a game I love and know inside and out; the volume is consistent and even; your voice is super chill; the commentary is informative and interesting without being super dense; you talk enough to make it more than just game gameplay footage and I always know what's going on even when I'm not looking at the video... it's great. All of your commentated runs are fantastic, but since MM is one of my favorite games of all time I'm biased for this one. You deserve a congratulatory fruit basket.
Commenting again to mention to check out majinphils way to do the horseback archery! He put Epona right on the little ledge hill and can just sit there and turn around and hit every single one! This has been so incredible to learn all these cool tricks and I'm so impressed with your execution. I wish I could do this
Seriously, I love watching your commentated speed runs. I keep watching/listening to them over and over because it’s so nostalgic and entertaining all at the same time. Well done, Bewildebeest, well done
This channel feels so underrated, I cannot believe you are below 5k subs (as of this comment). You deserve so much more. One of my absolute favorite channels, thank you so much for doing these commentated speedruns. I hope you keep them up, and I hope many others will start doing commentated speedruns that are so clear, well-made, and quietly witty like yours. We need more of this in the community.
The biggest thing I've learned about glitchless runs is that not everything is a glitch. A glitch is something unintended entirely. But there's also the middle ground of exploits. Using the intended mechanics in a way they weren't intended. Like the bomb blast. Bombs create knock back. But using that knock back to basically double jump isn't breaking the rules, it's just using the rules to your advantage.
The commentary and explanations are great! I would not have watched this without the commentary. It was easy for me to keep it on in the background while working!
Man your voice is so soothing, I wasn’t actually expecting to be able to listen/watch much of this video bc of the length but it feels so comfy and cozy, great work!!
Honestly, love the commentary and this will become my favourite way to play Majora's Mask. Whenever I try to 100% this game it turns into a slog of constantly rewinding time, so this optimised pathing looks amazing

Love your commentated runs, they're really fun to watch and it's also cool how much background info you give, even with things you don't do in the run. 10/10 great gameplay and game knowledge... Keep doing what you're doing!!
100% glitchless never sounds all that interesting for most games, but majora is an exception. with how much stuff you pack into each cycle, the routing is crazy impressive. specifically all the stuff done between the beavers and romani's alien hunt, as well as the stuff done after the anju and kafei quest just had me doing a double take, i was super impressed!

I remember as a kid playing the Beaver race over and over again trying to get my times super low. I just really enjoyed the zora swimming mechanics.
Best of luck to your channel, I’ll keep watching from my sidelines lol.
had no clue what to watch to wind down, so i just typed "speedrun with commentary" and your channel/this video was the first to pop up and i am so impressed !! the quality of the commentary, good balance of letting the gameplay breathe and explaining stuff that's happening, being really detailed but not treating the viewer as if they've never heard of video games before lmao. great work cant wait to see more
Almost an hour in and I'm hooked, I love the commentary and wisdom sharing.
You’re chill AF and I appreciated this commentary. Never seen this channel until now. Going to watch your other videos later. Thank you for your content!
You have a very relaxing voice that it relieves all my anxiety. I love the format!
Dude, this is genuinely incredible. Thanks for doing the commentary, i really enjoy learning about all the optimizations and glitches and whatnot that go into these runs!
I love how the fierce deity link mask makes majora a joke, best reward for getting all masks
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Very awesome! Thanks for posting this! Finding good speedrun commentary is harder than I'd suspect it should be, let alone the idea of a 6 hour commentary!
this vid has helped me sleep so many times thank you for uploading it
42:12 Wait... did you just...? [rapidly typing into Google] [reading...] ... Speedruns like this can be so damned helpful for learning more intentionally designed facets that you don't even need to master glitching to make use of in one's own playthrough. Case in point, from this one moment, I learned of the holy power of the Deku Stick equal to the Master Sword. Now I wanna play OoT and MM while trying to make use of it more.
I don't know how you don't have more subscribers! You're a hidden gem! This was the best glitchless run I've seen and the commentary is great. You have a very soothing chill voice :)
I am digging your commentaries. I am deciding witch game I want to learn to speedrun next so your commentaries help in deciding that. Thanks.
This is so good it should be under ASMR category.
I've watched this a few times now and it's inspired me to start trying this speedrun category
Have fun! If you haven't already, I'd recommend joining the Majora's Mask speedrunning discord server linked on this website so you can ask questions: www.zeldaspeedruns.com/
@@bewildebeestCame back for another rewatch and saw your comment lol. Thank you!
Nice commentary. I love how you explain things. It has the perfect amount of information. Thanks for this.
1:00:02 people who have never played MM probably have no idea how difficult “rolling right into the dungeon” is. You make it look so effortless!
2:03:00 again never knew you could just hop up to the top of the hut with the Goron. This run is too crazy.
This was my first Zelda game as a kid, it was a lot of fun learning the various ways to cheese the puzzles. And as for things like rolling into the dungeon - everything in the run that looks effortless I have failed many times in the past and have put lots of time into practicing. Nobody is born with it!
Love 100% speedruns, nice to see some with commentary throughout, good job! Will definteily check out your others.
Give this man some love! I couldn't do anything near this. Congrats!
Thank you for adding commentary, I can't really focus on videos without someone talking but I've always wanted to watch a speedrun so this is perfect! Thank you!
You are awesome bro! Great chill voice. Felt like i was just chilling with a buddy watching him shred through this legendary game.
i’ve been falling asleep to this bc i love learning about this stuff and your voice is INCREDIBLY relaxing, i love it
It took a long time, but I truly enjoyed watching this video.
Thank you for the normalcy. Your explanations through the run are fluid. Great commentary.
This was the Best commentary for a speed run I've ever heard Great job 👍
I legit watched all 6 hours of this in one sitting lol thank you for the commentary, it was very intriguing.
watching this for a second time cause it's that enjoyable. Keep doing great commentaries like this!
It was easy for me to keep it on in the background while working!
your voice is so soothing compared to the breakneck speed youre playing the game 😂
This is very likely the most soothing video I have seen on UA-cam in at least a year
I am travelling by plane to Japan right now and the trip is so long that I am watching this video three times :)
I watch a little before I fall asleep. This video gets me to sleep every single night. Love it.
Just watched the Twilight Princess 100% commentary and I was so happy to see this video was by you too. Very entertaining commentaries!
Watched this while at work over the course of four days. Im really happy that content like this is being made- your voice is so calming, and the run and commentary is super interesting to watch and listen to, even if I dont understand all of it. Thanks for making these videos ❤️
I love your speedrun, it is both exciting and calming. ive been watching this run for a couple of days straight, sometimes in the background, sometimes parts of it at full attention, it is so good. :) please more commentated speedruns! like majoras masks other categories (if you run them)
bewildebeest: *skips dialogue*
Me; Ummm I was reading that?
Thank you for doing this run and providing entertaining commentary! Majoras mask is my favourite Link game and I’ve learned so much from your video that I hadn’t known before and look forward to trying out some of those strategies for my own gameplay!
This is absolutely amazing! I love glitchless Zelda runs
I love this so much. Glitchless 100% speedruns are the best category imo.
Romani: What's your name?
" *WAUGHH* "
Great run, very entertaining. Is a 100% OoT run on the docket? I saw the TP runs you've posted and they're also great. Love your commentated runs, they're really fun to watch and it's also cool how much background info you give, even with things you don't do in the run. 10/10 great gameplay and game knowledge... Keep doing what you're doing!!
Glad you liked it! But no, I don't have any OoT runs planned
Love these post commentary runs. They are my favorite.
There really isn't enough fully commentated runs out there, good job on this one!
Found this channel randomly in my recommended. Great video man! I normally watch Good Old Days Gaming randomizers but this was a nice change of pace. Wish you luck with your channel and I'm sure you'll have a lot of subscribers in the future!
You have an extremely soothing voice, perfect for commentary like this!
i usually don't like post-commentary but this is really relaxing
Great run love the commentary
This is awesome. I get it’s a lot of work to comment over the entirety of a pretty long run, but I wish more people did it! Makes it fascinating to watch.
Just starting this video and I'm already excited
ngl, I watched this video because I got lost and with an 100% guide, you really can't get lost anymore. So thanks dude.
Incredible run! GG
