Honestly, the most surprising part of this route to me is that it's apparently faster to do a bunch more tricks in the bottom of the well to get a shield from the chest than just gathering some more rupees in the intro to buy one when you get the sticks
It's because you also need the chus. The "fast" method there is only like 20-30 seconds at most, which is way faster than gathering the extra rupees since kokiri has no decent money routes for child. I'm thinking of the "Something about game" series. I'm sure they're working on the "Something about ganonfloor" animation as we speak. The Tears of the Kingdom one was SO funny with Link getting all the spirits before Rauru even finishes his speech and being told "He's already on his way to Ganon now....". Also that "EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME *zip*" part in the beginning!
"If you use dynapoly corrption at the deku scrub room exactly 4 times while frame perfect item swapping on the loading zone when you load it the 3rd time to manipulate the wrong warp destination, then backstep while throwing out deku nuts at the precise angle and then backflip before killing this skulltula at the top of Deku Tree, it will cause the new-found glitch 'Skull Push Extended Super Slide (SPESS)' to push you into the roof of gohma's boss room which causes the wrong warp to teleport you to ganon. This new run is called the Ganonroof and completely makes Ganondoor and Ganonfloor obsolete!" - OoT Speedrunning in 2026, probably
Then you hear people say gamers are stupid. Gaming communities have the most insane brains, they even have to create a custom vocabulary for us to follow their reasonings.
Man this was tense when I was watching dannyb try to get it a day or two after discovery. Every single time he'd get to DC right as it turned night time and he'd have to restart the run. So cool to see it's finally been pulled off in a new WR run
I like the part where he says I think you know where this is going. That's the part where I rewound to the beginning to see if I can make any sense of what he was saying.
If you fire a bunch of atoms at a plate with a single atom-sized hole in it, there's this very small chance that there may be a speedrunner exploiting bits in Ocarina of Time at the other side...
The moment you showed link fast hopping 3 times through side to side walls to achieve a hexadecimal number in memory was like watching a high multidimensional being showing and explaining how easy you can phase out of existence and reappear In the future and place desired. I was like a monkey watching it.
I have been both an obsessed Triforce hunter and a glitch master for almost a decade following the game's release. Gosh, now they made a legit Triforce% run and I'm totally outdated on glitch mastery. It's incredible how much people love that game and poured their soul in it, a quarter of a century after its release. It's not even the same generation that continues our work now from where we left. But don't worry, we never really left either :) #HereTogether

Even so, I love the explanation involving multiple frame-perfect tricks chained back to back with no retry aside from resetting the game said so casually. Speedrunners, you know? :D
Ganondorf watching a random child appear out of thin air and kick his ass with a stick.
"Next is a tricky part" and im like, i couldnt even memorize what you said before 😂
it's astounding that given just how popular OoT is & how long it's been out that we're still making discoveries to this day
Nice Video.
Also love the Trails in the Sky OST in the back.
this is a perfect video to introduce me to this channel, because i have basically no in-depth oot knowledge but got hooked by the Ganonfloor discovery and how it's literally the tried and true practice of throwing code at a wall until somehow it all clicks into place, but with glitches
i love speedrunning videos like this celebrating the community and the little parts that make it click, and im excited to see more like this!!
5:00 of course! It’s so obvious!
This is everything I love about speedrunning. A strong development that drastically advances a specific run or category, a combination of different people pushing boundaries over years, and an accidental uncovering of a decades-old hidden value.
RIP to my older brother Phil ❤ 1989-2016 I have no idea how you beat all of Ocarina and Majora with no internet and no UA-cam back in 1999-2000. I think he had the thick ass strategy guide book though. I might be able to find it in his old bedroom closet
Brilliant video Lunatic! Super informative and its amazing to see how much Defeat Ganon No SRM has changed over the years, I remember thinking the category wouldn't get any faster than the GIM and Instaclip route!
For the record that's a fantastic thumbnail
Looks like TerminalMontage is gonna have to make a new cartoon.
Can't wait for the terminalmontage clip for this :D
As somebody who has been watching speed runs since AGDQ 2012, I am blown away by the ingenuity of speedrunners and glitch hunters, this is truly hilariously coincidental, and amazing. I cannot wait to see this new route be optimized!
1:34 i love the song inside the deku dree!
every song and sound of this game is amazing
Not only are Nintendo 64 games the last of its era "things that were built to last" but it's also the gift that keeps on giving.. you got to love these games that 20 years later still have surprises
I'm not gonna lie, the most surprising part of this video for me was when you whipped out Sophisticated Fight from Trails in the Sky. XD
THANK YOU I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE I HEARD IT FROM
@@SoggieWafflz aaah, if only he took the time to note on the video what music plays each time... :p
Had to look for this comment before I said it myself. :P
"Collision was dissapearing. Obviously-"
Me: Obviously.
"Of course such corruption could do potentially more than just delete collision-"
*Me stuffing my face*
Of couse.
"If you guessed Canon's Tower Co-"
*Me reading subtitles, cutting narrator off*
The tower collapse, duh.
Great video for the latest WiiVC route.
Now review the new variation that uses the Gamecube version and the enemy volume manip :Kappa:
Just when you think they've cracked open OOT and scooped everything there is to know about it out, they go and find something new.
As someone who does not have the brain whatsoever for speedrunning, "here is a tricky part" had me thinking "THATS the only thing you think is tricky??"
Absolutely not lol. It took me over an hour to get skull push the first time
@@LunaticJIt took me much longer than that just to do vine clip, which is apparently a much easier method 😅
way back in 2012 when the wrong warp was found ... is when i got hooked on OOT speedrunning .... did it for like... 2 years ish... but then moved on to more casual games..... this video... made me feel like i was 13 again .. when i picked up speedrunning... i dont know why... but ... i might come back to it now ... cus .. this is ... DOPE!
You know those Dorkly videos about speed run tricks. Are anything but parodies at this point.😅
My favorite part is 12:45 - "Next is the tricky part". THAT is the tricky part?
I was a worryingly long way into this before I realised it wasn't actually real.
Inb4 someone makes a new record today
1:44 the ganonDOOR has come to a CLOSE
ngl the thumbnail is genius
A new dupe glitch was just found in ffvii too, i love these things are still being found
9:50 - Anju swooning over the raw vigor of LunaticJ's speedrunning prowess.
You heartbreaker, you
That's cuccoo lady. Anju is in MM.
I like the part where he says I think you know where this is going. That's the part where I rewound to the beginning to see if I can make any sense of what he was saying.
Now to discover Ganonelectroor within Jabu-Jabu's Belly.
6:53 "Quick someone ask me for lotto numbers"
imagine how much more massive this discovery would be if SRM was never discovered
I mean the ACE category is dead anyway. A lot of people agree that warping into credits is just lame, but still is technically any%
Great video. RIP Ganondoor, you'll be missed 😞
"ganondoor" has me cackling incoherently
This route seems so damn satisfying to complete (compared to the previous one) because you actually explore so much of Hyrule.
If you fire a bunch of atoms at a plate with a single atom-sized hole in it, there's this very small chance that there may be a speedrunner exploiting bits in Ocarina of Time at the other side...
Very nice video! Good pacing, nice information. Well spoken and relaxing to watch!
You still say "My dough". It's "Me Dough". It's short for midori. A green color in Japanese.
The moment you showed link fast hopping 3 times through side to side walls to achieve a hexadecimal number in memory was like watching a high multidimensional being showing and explaining how easy you can phase out of existence and reappear In the future and place desired. I was like a monkey watching it.
wake up babe, new ganonfloor just dropped
I’ve been following Oot runs since 2011 and the revolution that was ganondoor cannot be overstated. This is so cool.
Last time I came this early for anything my gf broke up with me
I have been both an obsessed Triforce hunter and a glitch master for almost a decade following the game's release.
If you're gonna beat the game as quickly as possible with glitches, just smash the game cartridge with a hammer.
this is... a dumb take?
I really like the video but I don’t feel the title doesn’t justice at all. Saying something like “Ocarina of Time speedrunner finds glitch that changes speedrun forever” would do a much better job at doing it justice
"Dynapoly Corruption Wrong Warping".
The name alone is just mind blowing. The people who worked on this discovery should be very proud.
Damn
