Dont forget if you have air ,blast it back into tube an see if clears out. May need a few shots
Do you use "Salt Away" or similar as a flush for the cooling system (say in a plastic 55 gallon drum that you lower the leg into)
every time you lay up the boat after taking out on the water?
You can use the 55 gallon that have the requisite amount of Salt away mixed in... quite a few times...
it also takes the salt off the exterior of the leg etc....
store it in one drum and pump it into/out of the drum you place the leg into...
The Yamaha thermostat is easy to get to...
worth examining the interior of the housing as it indicates how much corrosion is in the the heads...
plus examining the thermostat may show a partially stuck open u/s thermostat..
test in hot water...
and any new one...test before fitting....

The boat is a 2003, and I assume it's the same, but I'll check the tag Monday when I'm off if you remind me.
That clogging could have been from insects crawling up an depositing material...it isn't mud dauber but?
Might pay to cover the pee hole with gorilla tape...and ditto the intake grid on the lower leg..
after you flush the motor and before storage....
Flow still seems pretty weak. Are you going to change out the impeller system?
Had to replace it this year. Wanted to make a video, but I was doing it by myself for the first time, so wasn't feasible.
What year is your outboard?
2003 or so
