Could be my favorite in 100000000000 songs. There is just something so deep and profound and extraordinarily profound. And Tina Weymouth is such a great backup on bass and vocals. Chills, chills, and chills.
I played this too my mum just before she died she said it was the most beautiful song she's ever heard and now she's in heaven I hope this song is playing for her miss you mum until I see you again ❤
Too bad this song is so prophetic: I saw the IMAX remaster last year (2023 proving the source audio is SO good & this deserves the Top 5 rank of best concert movies ever made) and that TH was at it's peak; in other words, this is a freeze frame like the song describes. A few (couple?) years later & David would go solo & dissolve TH. The interviews given to promote the IMAX release prove who's responsible. As for Tina, she's still happily married to the drummer Chris today, ~47 years as I write this :) PS: just listened to original studio cut from 1979 which sounds like a stereotypical 70s country song (or today for that matter): this version is INFINITELY better! I'd use it if I were making a movie or a funeral.
I have cried 😭 too! I understood that heaven is a place where the good things just get frozen to the eternity... a party, a kiss, will start again exactly the same !
@@OlhaMDziuba Everything Jesus did and taught is one hundred per cent true. "Taste and see that the Lord is good." Christ died to purchase your freedom on earth and your eternity in heaven. "A place where there is no more pain and tears." The most awful thing is to reject the gift of eternal life through faith in Christ.

Always makes me think of sitting with an old timer pal that I'm not sure I'll get to sit with again. Talking and at times in a comfortable silence and being so excited for those times. "It's hard to imagine, that nothing at all, could be so exciting, could be this much fun". Miss ya Johnny O.
There's a beautiful & different cover of this song by K.d. Lang (one from the album, "sing it loud" & one live in Montreal 2012) At chorus, her voice is Really in Heaven !!
"No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, nor mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him." (The Bible) The promises of God are sure. God is steadfast and true.

I love the album version BUT this version - being so stripped down, and live - is all the more resonant and moving
I must have listened to this a hundred times today - the kiss...wow.
How did I never hear this song until yesterday?

the backup vocals are amazing!
I love the harmony. It really does have an other-worldly, kind of sad, angelic beauty.
The fact that it's from offstage too, swimming in reverb, like it's from another place all together... So good
This song is from heaven. This song is so beautiful and so is David Byrne in this video.
Tina and David were so good together - if only they realised it. She looks so happy!

The most awful thing is heaven doesn't exist

Wow, man... Every time I hear this rendition, I have to keep myself from crying... So much emotion... But maybe that's just me.
Not just you, you are one of a billion

So true - just blessed oblivion....
Brings a tear to my eye to think there is such a beautiful place.
It’s crazy to us, but I think there is?
I have never heard this song; I think I love it.

Who's singing those beautiful, haunting harmonies ?
Background Singer: Lynn Mabry

It seems pretty obvious to me this song is about the Eternal Return, but I can’t find any commentary on the song along those lines?
It means something different to every person.
❤

Rip sponge
This is actually a song about hell
nah
Nah
pitch is slightly higher than the original
Love this song, and how it describes how heaven sucks.
How it sucks, AND how beautiful it is. Both.
Hahaha!
Actually a pretty fitting song, nothing ever happening in a non-existent, made-up place.
This is a simply red's song
Music sucks in 2023. Jim morrison was right when the music is over, turn out the lights.
