How I wish I had been in this audience!!! This and the film, "Stop Making Sense" are MUST see performances for everyone. Just great, fun and superbly COOL!
The "military" style of drumming on the original version has always suggested that a brass band version of this song would work! I absolutely love this version!
David has always been way beyond “cool” he has always been and remains exactly what he is...pure and simple... a beautiful creature he is... and we,re all on the road to ascension right now and he knows that...I love you David Byrne ...love and light from England .x
Head and shoulders above the generically 'Cool', I'm in total agreement with you,as a format Talking Heads never got the acclaim they deserve and deserved. Personally I don't think David or the band are about medals, they enjoy their music and to a performer that's as important as having an audience enjoying the the same. Pycho Killer live in Amsterdam,I was there many years ago,David live on stage with a ghetto blaster, now that was Cool.
David Byrne is such a underrated genius. 💞 some people just don't get it. I want to hear this band do Psycho Killer, who’s with me? OMG!! this is one of the best performances I have ever seen of this.
@@vonn4017 famous artists can be underrated, like, some bands in the eyes of people are great but not great as pink floyd or the beatles, and talking heads is pink floyd level, obviusly, they have diferent styles, but the genius level is the same, remain in light is a fucking diamond
All in all Annie and David’s pairing was more than the sum of the two. I saw this show twice and it was excellent. The band was great, the difficult to choreograph and block out marching really worked and they DID rock. As happens at most Byrne concerts, the aisles were full of dancing audience members after 30 minutes.
Gabriel Pomerancblum no lie. I always figured that as I aged my sensitivity to beauty and disgust would diminish as simply a survival response. It has not. I’m a live sound engineer so I’ve been exposed to an incredible amount of music and performance arts of massive diversity. I only pray the the scriptures, regardless of anyone’s (including mine) belief in them, are the truth. Especially Revelations. I’m sure it can get worse, but by definition, hope and faith are our unflappable belief in a more harmonious future. And as the engineer, I have very recently been pushing my knowledge of the interaction of seemingly inconsequential waveforms. But none All Matter. They are all ALL. Little the ubiquitous ripple in the pond, a small change here will make a change there, but of what change? Better or worse? I am realizing the harmonious relationships that make not just sound, as my focus, but all dynamics, are soo much more incredibly beautiful than I could have ever imagined. And trust me brethren, I can imagine. And upon that, music, and in particular the science of music and the science of sound are so incredibly linked with amazing non-coincidences, even the notation of each and both, is the stuff of crazy conspiracy theorists. But it’s the foundation of every aspect of our existence and the resulting incubation of my understanding of this has both redefined the realms of awe, and concerned me with the terrifying depths of depravity which have become simultaneously deeper below the surface and face smacking before us. Again we are faced with realities of relativity: with this abundance of information, it is almost balanced with misinformation. The saddest part isn’t the ill people spreading the misinformation. It’s that there is such a preponderance of the population of any given entity eating it up, and even worse, not because they THINK it’s real, but because they WANTit to be. How much sadder can it get? Just remember that beauty will always at least equal. Even at that, beauty is what we want it to be. It doesn’t have to be. How can there be such a populace preferring ugly?
Reminds me of sounds or Peruvian "bandas" in the Andes, like andean music and pasillos, when people celebrates as the bands creates the mood. David Byrne happy birthday to you sir from Lima, Peru.
David Byrne &(TH) is like the Who of punk for me. So much emotional resonance from their work. Annie is just fuckin wonderful! tfs for setting this moment free.
Saw this show at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank NJ with my 17 Y.O. daughter and it was fucking amazing. That was 4 years ago and I still remember like it was yesterday.
I love this. I stumbled on Talking Heads a few years ago thanks to UA-cam. They're my favourite band now... so creative. Then I found David with St Vincent. Really enjoy this style. This music makes the world a better place. Top of my to do list is to come see David live in the next year.
The best music is the kind that you can feel throughout your whole body. Music that makes you vulnerable, hopeful, and most importantly, alive. Thank you, today will be a good day ❤️
Wow, I've heard this song like countless times, but for the first in decades, it is ever relevant -- err, its depth shines thru coming up to upmost clearly now as these daze come in more clearly now>>>
Everything about this song is perfect! The lyrics highlight the futility of life. The music is in 4/4 time evoking the idea of a wild mustang galloping headlong through time with no reason to slow down. But it’s a fun journey. This song is life on a chord sheet!
Sweet to see the evolution, as this would lead to American Utopia. Always loved the Talking Heads and Eno etc. What a fucking cool world and time that we live in, for the most part.
Marching band on acid. I saw this configuration in Baltimore, David Byrne's home town, and it was as weird and wonderful as it gets. I'm an old Deadhead and I am not afraid of gas music from Jupiter, but with St. Vincent I had to just shake my head. I felt like every girlfriend ever dragged to a Dead concert who said, "What the hell is this stuff?" I loved it. It was also very cool to see this tour and then see the American Utopia tour, which took this concept and evolved it even further. I could sit and watch this video for hours.
Lo máximo escucharlo después de muchos años no lo encontraba no savia como se llamaba el tema pero ahora lo disfruto atodo volumen saludos desde lima perú 🇵🇪
Only just discovered this! had to watch it again! I wasn't mistaken it's f*cking Sensational!! Big smile on my face and a tear in my eye!!!.Absolutely Love it!!!...
You've no idea what a thrill it is to suddenly have the band just leave the stage and walk among the audience. While playing. Ok, they didn't quite do that here, but close. I've seen a large jazz band do this (you kinda need a lot of winds and such). To have a bunch of people parading down the aisle yr sitting in while playing Naw'leans music, brushing yr knees is just giggle inducing.
From seeing much of their concert tour, David and Annie are a musical marriage made in heaven. Seeing this song, how can you not want to get up and dance. And that marching brass band - Oh my God. The Saints Came Marching In.
Dear Rakam, what a amazing unforgettable gift to all of us. Before or after it doesn't matter. It gives me and all you people out there such a big smile, energy but also tears. These are tears from joy. Play It Again!! ********
The magic of a full brass band.
More like full ASS band... Just kidding
Brilliant! Give a mad genius a brass band and you get this. There is no bad version of this song.
I'd love to see a drum corps do this song.
The one done by someone else, sure.
OMG I wish I was there. I had a brief mad thought about a duet with David Byrne and Yael Naim just then, was kinda wild.
Add Annie , that's it . Nailed it.
...also give a brass section a mad genius and they get to show off and we get this! Smiles all around!
What a beast of showman David Byrne is...
Anyone else get chills when he hits that note at 3:51?
1st time watching this, I'll came back in like 7 minutes and let you know
David 🔥 still lighting up the stage
Everytime!
Like a crescendo ❤ lol
are you kidding, I am getting chills at every note
David Byrne has just been fucking killing it for like 40 years now....
100%
Dunno why this suddenly showed up in my feed but my life is decidedly better for seeing and hearing it.
St Vincent helped make these timeless classics even cooler. One of the greatest pairings David Byrne and St Vincent
The duet we never new we needed
Its so knew as well!!
Same as he ever was
Maybe even better (even if that screws up the lyric).
!!!!
I think he likes to purposely change things
But how did he get here?
@@miazander Perfect reply!!
David Byrne has to be the coolest guy alive now that Bowie has passed.
chaosmos24 David’s cooler anyhow
Tony D don’t be silly
Funny...was thinking the same just before I read this!!
Iggy?
Funny, I was just thinking this
Absolutely love this version . David Byrne is just the best
He does everything. Look at the choreography - they all walk around aimlessly on the road to nowhere. Absolute genius, and fantastic harmonies.
It's very 70's Sun Ra choreography. :-)
How I wish I had been in this audience!!! This and the film, "Stop Making Sense" are MUST see performances for everyone. Just great, fun and superbly COOL!
David Byrne is a living legend. Can't believe I had the opportunity to see him
You Lucky dog.
Would've liked to..
Is very artistic, another level..been listening since bout 1980..+-
Saw David and St. Vincent a few years ago and it was so goddamn fun, I hope to see him again before I die
All the horns just make this bang even harder

That’s one cool motherfucking version!
Hear hear! Couldn't have said it better. I saw him live twice. Lucky me eh? X
Genius... what a collaboration and interpretation of a great song
David Byrne fans knew they liked this before they heard it.
Truth bro.

I stumbled across this today. It's absolutely great.
David is a musical genius. A stage presence and so misunderstood by so many people. He mesmerizes millions as well as myself. Love this guy!
David Bryne is like a fine wine , just gets better with age . I guess that means Annie Clark is like a fine Scotch whiskey .
Is that who the blonde eye candy is in this vid?

My favorite song period.
I always thought David Byrne was like what we'd have if Paul Simon and Paul McCartney inhabited the same brain. Perfect blend of rhythm and melody.
