Just got this exact box. I noticed that the plastic drawer lock sliders (whatever you call them) come out very easily (with the push of a little clip at the end on your right hand side). The drawers still stay close fairly well with the neodymium magnets at the back. Because of the drawer lock, I see no need for the lock sliders. Just my unput. Thanks for sharing
You could add a 1/8" ( or thicker depending how tall the screws are) foam sheet and counter sink a few holes to level out the top opening to deal with the rivets while not losing substantial depth
I have the exact same box, color and everything. One of the things I noticed is that on the drawers there’s a latch that slides left to open them. If you look under them on the right side there is a tab you can push in and then pull that plastic piece out, and it will function normally without having to slide that latch to the left. The drawers will still lock
I have bought multiple boxes from HF a good percentage come dented but the quality is really good for the $$. One of the first things I do it spray the bearing slides thoroughly with silicone or WD40 in all the surfaces and bearings too and bottom and then pull drawer out and in a couple times. That makes all the drawers operate waaaay easier…. They were stiff before I do it. In time they prob will Loosen up naturally but it’s nice to help right from the start
I have been using the same box since they came out, and love it. I also mounted the side tray on my box. If you put a magnet on the side of the tool box where the botton of the tray rests when folded down it will stay solid against the box. This way it won't flop around when moving the box. Making it quieter and safer since it won't hit anything. I just took apart one of the harbor freight magnet trays and use a magnet out of that.
All of us at the shop use the orilys foam magnet pads on tge inside of the lid . Then all your wrenchs are hanging on the lid in hands reach and youve got another drawer.. we also use the magnetic pads to hold our loose tools in place like drivers , ratchets, exstions . I tend to keep a hand full of exstions, picks, razors, on the inside of my lid
I have the same full bank cart in red and love it. I even did the same thing with the side tray on mine. The only difference is all of my can holders and other attachments are magnetic so I didn't have to drill holes for those and they actually fit between the rubber bumpers. I to was also irritated with that lip in the back on the top, but it really hasn't been an issue so far. I put rubber gromets in the holes on the sides to make them a little more user friendly so things didn't fall through. I've had this cart for about 4 months and still tinker with it to get it the way that I want it, with that said I love it and glad that I have it. Great video boss, appreciate your time.
Same here. No need to drill the bottom holes for the shelf. Just use the top 2 bolts. You will never put enough force to rip them out before that small shelf is destroyed. I'll be honest I kinda think HF knew this and after all techs should figure it out.
Just made the same switch. There are some things I miss about the old box, same as you, but overall the extra space is great. I combined two boxes into this one and have mine almost full now. Love the four way casters!
I have the same one in black and love it. Only issue i have with mine is that all of my battery chargers for my electric tools take up way too much space. I love the idea for the use of rivnuts so i just might secure them all to the side of my cart
Add foam like you used on the top of the last cart in the wells to keep tools from falling thru. A piece of mdf on the top socket area under the matt is a good way to level and allows mounting stuff to it.

I added the side tray from 30 inch box too, but I used the 34” side handle as a template to mark the 4 new holes to drill in the shelf. That way I can bolt on the shelf in the factory holes on the other side of the box. Worked perfectly! Nice work on your box. I love mine!

US General has a lot of magnetic attachments for the side of the box .... Cup holder, hook, power/air tool holder, power strip with metal housing and USB ports, paper towel holder, spray can/screwdriver holder. You can also buy and also foldable side trays for 4 drawer or 5 drawer carts.

GREAT VID, THX
mighty toolbox mods
Haha
Seems kind of odd to put anything in the top that you might actually use on a daily basis IF you are going to be using the top as a work surface?
What socket organizers are those?
Also, how do you like that Milwaukee M12 cordless ratchet? I really need to pick one up, but most of my battery tools are all Dewalt 20v
DeWalt just came out with a 20volt ratchet
@@MikeJones-tx7hw Yea I saw that, I heard it isn't as good as the 12v though. to be honest, my whole main reason for getting a powered ratchet is to get it into tight spaces, so I'll prob just get a decent air ratchet as they're way cheaper, don't rely on batteries, and way smaller.
I thought US General makes magnetic can shelves for the sides of the box, color matched to each one?
Idk maybee
They sure do
Good content dude
thanks!
My wife needs to know what kind of dog that is at 4:14 mark? Looks very similar to our "bugg" boston terrier/pug mix.
The DNA test said he was a jack russel and french bull bog mix, but we think he looks more pug than french bull dog
great review but it was the dog for me! Rubber grommets on the pry bar holes?
I 3d printed plugs for them but grommets are a good idea too
I think you could find magnetic tray with strong rare earth magnets.
I would remove the powertools from the top drawer and keep all sockets up there. Powertools in the bottom.
I am always reaching for the Milwaukee impact and electric ratchet. Those are my go-to tools. It would not make sense to put them in the bottom drawer for me
Modify? It's designed for both boxes
Hello again Poor Man Mods
Thank you for another Great Video. I was wondering, could you gain access from the top ? Again thank you
thank you, no you couldnt gain much access from the top
@@PoorManMods Hello again, What if you made a small storage with access door or cover? Especially, for the short pry bars? Just a thought. I am looking forward to seeing more of you use the cart in daily work. Again thank you
@@georgeferlazzo7936 i guess thats possivle but i dont think its something i would do, thank you!
How much for whole setup
$600 retail for the box
I took the can holder off my old box also but used magnets to hold it on my new box harbor freight sells them
But if the top is open can’t someone just come up and slide the lever to unlock the drawers
Good job
Holy crap thank you
@@PoorManMods lol relax. I can respect a proper tool box and tools. Good.organization
I will buy this and mod it like you did.
Sweeeeet
Sharp foxbody
Sadly it's not mine, but thanks! It has a turbocharged 306 in it
Ohhh shit! Is that Freddie from CJ pony parts??
Haha no, this is Freddy FROM PoorManMods, however I worked at CJ Pony Parts for a few years 🙂
Well you were the best one there at CJs! I installed a Readylift 7" on my truck with the help of your video!
@@earlyblackmz Thank you so much! I really appreciate that and I'm glad I could help!!
The black accents are nice. harbor freight's new Gray color tool cart comes with black accents. they also make a kit where you can put your own black accents on and they make another kit with rubber for the corners like that one has. Please tell me you have an air compressor and you're only impact wrench isn't that corded thing
I have an air compressor for filling tires and an air chisel, air tools are a thing of the past my friend lol
@@PoorManMods you're right cordless tools have taken their place but corded impact wrenches suck. All the technology to make the tools better and stronger goes into cordless ones. Electric impact wrenches get the oldest technology so they have no power and you're still tethered to a cord. at least with an air impact wrench you get one that has some guts.
I rarely use my corded impact only when my M12 stubby can't get it off l, which is rare, but it has never let me down
NEW SUB. PICK UP THE AMERICAN FLAG
@@StortWeldingCoLLC thanks! We have changed locations and the flag is in a different spot now 🤙
Take out those ugly bolts going into the rivnuts and get black allen drive cap bolts
Not that concerned about it
I just bought this box in grey... am I the only 1 who hates that all 4 casters are swivel?
👍👍👍
All they would have to do is weld that back plate.
I prefer Snap on
I prefer to not be in debt lol
@@PoorManMods lmao I’m just busting your chops. I don’t own one bit of snap on, and I get all my jobs done. From transmission work, to doing timing chains
@@abe7907 hell yeahhhh
1 inch Grommets in those holes will stop you screw drivers a smaller breaker bar from falling in through the holes
ARE YOU SELLING THE OLD TOOLBOX?
Already sold
I would put a wood top on that one instead of that ugly crappy mats.. very nice box
I was thinking the same thing!
Buy a used Mac , snap on , buy American made products, support America
Im not sure about Mac, but for snap-on, just because its snap-on does not mean it's made in America
Also, I'm not going to spend triple or quadruple the amount of money for the sake of supporting America when I need to support myself first. For the amount of money I have invested in this toolbox and all the tools in it, I could probably buy a similar snap-on box and a screwdriver set and that's about it. And I would not be able to perform any work.
@@PoorManModssnap on is 99% USA it’s expensive but some of us are proud to own something with a made in the USA stamp
@@PoorManModsuse of the same 6 drawer snap on carts go for 700-800 right around the same price point it will have paper work with the plant in USA from where it was made
Those companies you listed are greedy and don’t care if you can even support yourself as long as you overpay for their products, first. Harbor Freight is cutting into their business as they should be.
@@j.r4985 not true, snap on , Mac, wright tools all continue to grow every year . HF is mostly Chinese tools with some ( very few) rebranded USA. HF doesn’t make any tool , they rebrand them from another company
Whereas SnapOn, Mac , Wright have actuall plants in the USA making their own tools with American steel. Ya they cost more , they pay union wages for their employees. They do the research and development. HF is just stocking Chinese made tools.
Stop being a communist and support American workers and companies whenever possible. .
I want to upgrade. My cart works awesome. If it had one more drawer I probably wouldn't need too. But the thing that hurts me the most is not being able to transfer my sticker collection😍
Haha I feel you on the stickers
Get that flag off the wall, and off the floor. Fucking hell man. Can't display it with some respect then store it.
At least im showing support for the flag and county and not burning it and waving dildos around. Relax man.
Get the flag off the floor!
You should def invest in some drawer organizers. Sloppy storage
