Thanks for this comparison! Very detailed. I was considering the 42” Roll Cab as well, but I think the 34” fits the bill even better. My garage space is limited as well. I really need to sell some things lol
Good upgrade for your spot. I think the 5-drawer is better for rolling out on the driveway and doing some repairs, and the fullbank is better for staying in the garage. Keep making good vids!
I just picked up the 34 cause i ran out of room and my 5 drawer became electonics lab box. Also, when i bought the 5 drawer i bought 2 swivel wheels at same time so i could have 4 swivel wheels (much easier to do when you buy it and put it together so you dont have to empty it to put new casters on it)
I bought 2 - 5 Drawer and did a stack giving me 11 storage areas Including 1 top area. Before you ask, Google US General or Harbor Freight 5 Drawer Stack. I put 4 swiveling casters. Turns on a dime.
I agree the plastic ladder style locks on the drawers of the full bank cart feel cheap. I ended up taking them all out on my cart. The detent is enough to hold the drawer shut, and feels more premium IMO.
Word to the wise: if you remove those plastic lock slides & move the box around eventually you'll catch something and the slightest tipping of the box will have those drawers all try to open up on you at the same time and your box will definitely fall over Have seen it happen multiple times, the 34" full bank carts from all brands are incredibly popular among mechanics, that's why they're never in stock
You're wrong about not being able to open the drawers while the lid is closed. Make sure the drawers are open before you close the lid. The lid will go all the way down and the drawers will not lock & you don't have to slide the latch to open them. Before loading it onto a truck just open the lid then push the drawers in 1/2" 👍
Too bad you didn't show how much extra space you gained, was it about 2 empty drawers? The negative about upgrading to the 34 is once it's full you have to sell and buy something bigger whereas with the 42 you can buy the top piece when your full.
Exactly what I was lookin for dude. Thanks

Thanks! Appreciate ya. Yeah I absolutely loved the 5-drawer it’s such a great cart. I had no issues with it at all!

Is the 34” cart actually 34” from metal side to metal side or does that measurement include the handle or corner bumpers in the width?
How tall is the original US General 5 drawer cabinet with the lid open I'm just trying to plan thank you
61.5" or 156cm

I’ll have to try that! Thanks!!

@COBRO98 true! Best to lock the drawers before moving!
