It’s such a big oversight for the Snap On and US general 6 drawer carts to not have an access panel for the pry bar storage area to get fallen tools out. Accidentally dropped a screwdriver in one of the holes, took a grabber tool and a stick magnet and about 30 minutes to get it out! For the price they should have thought of that.
Remove from shipping carton. Remove bottom drawer and use 4" hole saw in the center of the inside panel on both sides BEFORE loading it with tools. Saves hours of frustration.
I upgraded the exact same way as you from a 5 drawer roll cart to a full bank only I went from a orange cart to a black full bank. I'm a industrial maintenance technician so it gets dirty. But I found a silverware drawer organizer works amazingly for organizing simple things like extensions, pens and other items like that. I've been doing this trick in mine for about 2 years now and love it.
I'm in industrial maintenance too and did the exact same thing! I went from a red box though, back to the black one I kept at home. So I just switched them out at work. I work for Roper and it can get dirty too.
I've seen other toolbox tours where they use the rubber grommets to put over the holes on the sides of the top drawer to prevent things from falling through.
So the 5.5, just take a dremel and shave a bit off the post, I had the same issue with mine so I just shave off enough for the socket to go on. Great tour thanks for sharing
Gotta say harbor freight is killin it with these carts. No need to get the tool truck carts anymore. I bought the cornwell cart in the same color before these big General carts even came out. It’s essentially the exact same thing..
I like that you are an avid Snap On tool user but have the smarts to save money on the box. I did the same upgraded from the 5 drawer. More money for tools which make the money. Great review. Picked up the black 6 drawer. I needed more space like you did.
I had the problem with an old snap on socket set not fitting on the rack so I took a drill and just drilled them out just a little bit now works perfectly
I bought my snap on one 9 years ago for $1200. Went to harbor freight yesterday and looked at it and I would say you can tell the build difference from the snap on one and it’s a big difference but for what you would use it for to just store tools no need to go with the snap on one. Wish this was around when I bought mine off the truck
Nice setup! Good tip with the pig mat in the folding side tray. I'm a big fan of Ernst organizer trays. The 3 compartment and larger 10ish compartment are both quite handy.
I was ablet to get a dish drainer (thing that allows plates to stand up when drying) and it works great for pliers, on their edge, made by Addis, worth alook as it was only £5 or $8 prob in USD
I just wish they weren't so tall. Maybe it's just because I've had it for 10 years, but the 5 drawer is the perfect height for reaching over and grabbing tools quick.
At least your toolbox looks like someone that uses their tool not nice and all shiny like some videos I watch. I work several toolboxes and it hard to keep it clean if you're working on something all the time. Nice Toolbox just bought mine and also have several others.
I wish they had a better drawer set up. No shallow drawers is a wast of space in my opinion and the reason why i haven't got one. Husky has a similar cart same price but better drawer layout and i might go with that but still unsure
Not really sure. I have both but the 5 drawer is about 4 years old and has sat in a sunny part of shop so I assume it’s faded. Only way to tell would be both new together.
All depends on what your working on. I use all three sizes regularly but for most common stuff, 3/8 is strong enough and large enough to get job done but not too heavy to kill you all day long.
After doing some research comparing this cart to the Snap-on that its a ripoff of. I bought the Snap-on. 2 main reasons, 1st the snapon is lifetime this cart is 90day warranty. Secondly the Snap-on is all welded and the usgeneral is bolted together. It may be 3 times the money but for me its worth the peace of mind.
Please let me know how the Snap On lifetime warranty works out when you place a claim on your box. Also if your not a animal with your box/cart, a Rubbermaid would hold up. Maybe you have too much pent up aggression.
@Brad B why are you so mad? I wasn't hating. Just saying that I made a different decision that's all. Oh and for the record, I've had a snapon box for 10 years, had to warranty slides once and drawer latches a couple times. Never had a single issue. My experience with them is that they stand behind their warranty.
I don't like the carts I think they feel like junk compared to the regular boxes I think the similar size box with the top box is much better quality or at least it was the gen 3 looks like they use thinner metal
Here’s an idea. How about put your box together before filming a video. Because, this was a waste of time. “ this draws a mess ….. I got to put this in order…. This draws a mess….. I need to work that draw better… “
I tried taking a shot every time you said "um" and ended up needing new a liver. Seriously though great video.

Lol if it dosnt fit there don’t put it there. I never had that problem and I’ve been using this box for months
Take a drawer out
@@williambrown3319Doesn’t work like that….that’s an enclosed space with no access from the sides. Only a small drain type hole at the bottom.
Would love to know the price of this toolbox

Love my neiko sockets. Used them for 5 years now

Should be a matter of opening up the socket opening more, and you would never put enough torque on a 5.5 to ever break it most likely
@@jcoul1sc yeah, or gently dremel down the shaft a little.
I'm in industrial maintenance too and did the exact same thing! I went from a red box though, back to the black one I kept at home. So I just switched them out at work. I work for Roper and it can get dirty too.
Tools, cart, and dialogue were just fine. But don't get married.
I'm amazed how much room is in those carts. I never realized that.
I've seen other toolbox tours where they use the rubber grommets to put over the holes on the sides of the top drawer to prevent things from falling through.
Great video that's awesome it was gifted to you and sounds like a great place to work.
So the 5.5, just take a dremel and shave a bit off the post, I had the same issue with mine so I just shave off enough for the socket to go on. Great tour thanks for sharing

Great idea with those snap on socket holder magnets 👍
Nice to see how everyone organized their tools.and what they have ..
Good video on the cart! Biggest thing I wanted to say is.. Freaking awesome boss for "gifting" that to you!!

21 years old, industrial maintenance, I have one of those rings and the one I have on now is my 4th
Nice tour. Just an FYI. Dawn power wash and a magic eraser will do wonders on snap on soft handles. Cheers bud
If I took a shot every time you said umm and I'd be dead.

I heard their detente ware out really quick and don’t hold the sockets after time
Awesome set up man
my whole pliers drawer is organized with a cheap metal kitchen dish rack I cut and modified. holds like 30 pliers
use firewall grommets along with the washers
drill out your 5.5 socket so it fits the plastic holder, spray paint it on the inside to prevent corrossion
I was ablet to get a dish drainer (thing that allows plates to stand up when drying) and it works great for pliers, on their edge, made by Addis, worth alook as it was only £5 or $8 prob in USD
A few of my sockets had the same problem I just drilled them out a bit so they fit
Nice set up
Great vid.
If something does fall through the holes your drawers will come out to retrieve your item.....I had to learn the hard way haha
Excellent Job....
Great setup. Thanks for sharing. I have a real nOOb question - why are your sockets upside down? I've seen a few others on YT do this as well.
I just wish they weren't so tall. Maybe it's just because I've had it for 10 years, but the 5 drawer is the perfect height for reaching over and grabbing tools quick.
That is the hardest part to get used to.
At least your toolbox looks like someone that uses their tool not nice and all shiny like some videos I watch. I work several toolboxes and it hard to keep it clean if you're working on something all the time. Nice Toolbox just bought mine and also have several others.
Use a rubber cable grommet to go inside the holes 👍🏻👍🏻
I wish they had a better drawer set up. No shallow drawers is a wast of space in my opinion and the reason why i haven't got one. Husky has a similar cart same price but better drawer layout and i might go with that but still unsure
I cut a cardboard box and put holes for the side prybar slot..
yeah I used an extra drawer liner but either way simple "fix".
Maybe try some rubber body plugs to go in the holes and just drill em out.
Trim a heavy duty mud flap from a dump truck or cut a strip of plexiglass and drill to the size you want for those holes.
I have same problem with 5.5 with that organizer i put my 5.5 on the 5 and vice versa and oddly it works
"Um..um...um....um...um" Could you possibly say "um" one more time?! Thanks for the video.
I wonder if he’s lost that shaft to the snappy ratcheting screw driver in the side of his cart yet
The drawers come out to retrieve that's has been dropped through the holes
Just drill that socket out I have to do that with all my 1/4 sets for those racks
Would love to know the cost of this
How do you like that stubby snap on 3/8 air gun? Not many videos out on the UA-cam of people actually using it.
Just drill that socket out a Lil bit. I've done that before.
Surprised every time I look for 6 point sockets at home depot Lowe s ace auto zone or advanced they only have 12 point sockets
you can drill out the 5.5 mm to fit over the post in the tray
Capri is the only 5.5 that actually fit on my Hansen trays😂 I think it’s a hit and miss
Use a rubber electrical grommet
Drill that 1/4 5.5 out so it fits.
Take a shot everytime this mf says “um”
Is the newer Orange brighter?
Not really sure. I have both but the 5 drawer is about 4 years old and has sat in a sunny part of shop so I assume it’s faded. Only way to tell would be both new together.
Hey im an apprentice mechanic only had 7 days so far so i wanted to ask why do most shops (that ive seen) prefer 3/8 over 1/2?
All depends on what your working on. I use all three sizes regularly but for most common stuff, 3/8 is strong enough and large enough to get job done but not too heavy to kill you all day long.
The drawers come out, a bit of a pain but at least you an retrieve your tools
Wrong! There is a second, full wall inside both ends. You need to quit commenting without actual knowledge.
You say umm to much 😂
What does this toolbox sell phone please comment back would love to know
I'd put the 1/2" ratchets in the drawer with your other ratchets.
Um
Um uh um
Seriously try it. Use your entire bottom lip. Learn the technique so your mom will stop asking me to do it to her. Thanks.

Your just mad he got the same box for less otherwise you wouldn't yell out you own a strap on
Please let me know how the Snap On lifetime warranty works out when you place a claim on your box. Also if your not a animal with your box/cart, a Rubbermaid would hold up. Maybe you have too much pent up aggression.

Ummm

Then I don’t recommend you buy it.
Here’s an idea. How about put your box together before filming a video. Because, this was a waste of time. “ this draws a mess ….. I got to put this in order…. This draws a mess….. I need to work that draw better… “
Unnecessary
You must not be used to seeing a real mechanic’s stuff in stead of UA-camr’s.
How does it roll loaded with those small wheels?
Sheesh work on not saying uhmmm uhmmmm uhmmmm so much bud
Your mom likes when I use my lips to say ummmm
