I found JD when I was 21. I’m now 72. John was with me every step of my life. He dominated the 70’s. He cared about the world. The environment, hunger, war, small farmers- he cared about all of them and worked all his life to make things better. He helped me to be a better human being. His hits are wonderful. Listen to some of his less well known music. It will blow you away
John Denver. My era. So darn talented. Gone too soon. Written for his wife Annie. His voice was unique. So clean and clear. Outdoorsman. Loved nature. Died in a plane crash viewing nature. 60s 70s were amazing for music. This is a taste of it.
John Denver had several brilliant songs. You should check out John Denver and Cass Elliot singing Leaving on a Jet Plane on Burt Sugarman's Midnight Special TV show way back in the early 70's. So beautiful.
On Long Road trips to our country house upstate NY from Brooklyn no better singer to listen up there to when I was a kid. Great memories listening to the album an evening with John Denver on 8 track .
I think this is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. He had many great songs and several of them were about the beauty and wonder of nature. I'm grateful because his music made me notice and appreciate our world more and the need to take care of it better.
John Denver wrote this song while sitting on a ski lift after having an argument with his wife , to clear his head he went skiing and then when he got back played the song to his wife .
He was sublime and pure. We lost a pure soul. He took a lot of criticism when this genre changed to rock and pop music. Ladies and gentleman the one and only John Denver. A lost treasure
John Denver is my most favorite artist of all-time! Wrote many great songs! Co-wrote "Take Me Home, Country Roads," wrote "Rocky Mountain High," "Leaving on a Jet Plane," "Goodbye Again," "Shanghai Breezes," and "Calypso" among others! Has such an amazing voice and has a feeling in it when he sings and you should see a live version of this song!
First time visiting your channel and enjoyed your reaction. JD was a very inspirational folk singer who touched many hearts with his music. You expressed this very well with your words. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
At the time of his death in a single airplane crash, he ran out of gas a pilot error. The media, from what I remember. Seemed to report him as a has been singer, I never forget that. It's good that your proving them wrong.
If you check more of John Denver, i guarantee you'll find diamonds. "Rocky Mountain High" No it's not just you. It's a signally expressive song. Reminds me that I will lose my husband or he'll lose me someday soon.
R.I.P. John. I grew up in Denver Colorado and grew up on John Denver's music. I always thought he had a voice that could just touch the soul in a certain way. And with the music he always transports me home again.
Denver wrote this song on a ski lift after a fight with his then wife, Annie. It departs from the usual verse and chorus structure and is basically telling a story to music. I have loved John's music for as long as I can remember. His gentle, gorgeous voice and beautiful guitar playing complement each other perfectly. The 70's was inundated with singer/songwriters like Harry Chapin, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens and James Taylor, but for my money, John Denver outdoes them all. Maybe John took a page from Cat Steven's book when Cat advised "write about what you know". Denver's music is filled with songs about simple pleasures and things he took solace in. Maybe that's why he was so successful.
I first heard this as a Freshman (9) in High School along with my future wife. When we married almost 3 and a half year later we married and named our daughter Annie after the song.
Extremely popular in his era. Many famous singers learned to portray honest lyrics from his songs. You can’t beat Denver’s enunciation. I would suggest for voice beauty, you also check out Karen Carpenter.
Yessss John Denver... in concert I attended in Saratoga Springs, NY, Denver told the audience we were first crowd to hear this LIVE. .. IT DID HIT CHARTS shortly after... the folksy sound of USA in the 70s. Him, and of course, LINDA RONSTADT (my older baby crush, as a teen) I think LONG LONG TIME, but Linda R. Also brings in some beautiful violin.... what a GREAT singer, multi genre she was. I wish that Angelina Jordan has a Ronstadt type career for 40 yrs.
John Denver wrote this in 10 mins for his wife after their first separation and at the start of the breakdown of their marriage. It's quite a moving story as they were about to get back together when he died. I'm 71 and grew up listening to John Denver and it's so lovely to hear this again. I think he was always a very under appreciated singer/songwriter. Listen to Calypso - another great song.
Did I say that he wrote this on the ride up a ski lift after leaving home angry at Annie? About what? 12 minutes? That's what i understand from a documentary. Having to listen to your reaction again!
First time listener,, i checked your list and dont see anymore songs you did by JD, so when you're ready Ro ky Mountain High & Country Roads should be listened to, you'll thank me later
Everything is too "commercial" now. Back then, we were blessed with true artists! Glad to have lived it. Glad to see younger people find and appreciate it! Thanks for a great reaction!
I have many friends who are professional musicians. A couple you may have heard of. Others I'll bet you know at least 1 song they worked on as an engineer or studio musician. That said... the music is still being produced. It's just not popular. I'll not name check anyone but , if you're familiar with the Trop-rock genre , a very good friend's band just had it's 3rd #1 on Trop-rock radio. It's out there. I'm 63. My first concert was Zeppelin in Tampa Fl in 73 and many after. I was 13. Never had an adult go to any show. Times have changed. Look at "country" music. What, in my opinion, a disaster. Best of luck. Capt.Bob SV ( Sailing Vessel ) 27th Chance, Tampa Fl, USA 🇺🇸

I was fortunate to have met him backstage in Cerritos, CA when I gifted him with a painting. He was my hero....I met him 5 months before his untimely passing.
First time watching you, and I'm so glad you did this reaction. I get misty eyed thinking about how tragic his life ended. So young. I was a teenager and young woman when he wrote and sang such great songs. I recommend you watch the video of him singing this song. His face exudes love. You really should hear his song "Rocky Mountain High" and "Country Roads". They're incredible.
John Denver was a National Treasure. He recorded over 300 songs, wrote over 200 songs. John was loved for decades and was considered Folk, Pop Rock, Country. He was a loveable man and passed too soon. John wrote this to his wife.
There were so many of John's songs that impacted my life. His song Sunshine On My Shoulders, was my son's lullaby and is now the song he sings to his kids every night. A good friend of mine was part of the folk scene in Las Angeles in the early 60's. He met John as John was trying to break into the music scene. They even roomed together for a few months. Later, after John got big, he invited my friend to his home to meet the girl he would someday marry. That was who this song is written for and about...Annie.
If you like a pure voice and great heartfelt lyrics you should look into Phil Collins. His solo work is amazing ('In The Air Tonight' LIVE Paris 2004 is a must!) but he was also in Genesis singing backup and later as the lead singer. Ghost just this year did a cover of their 'Jesus He Knows Me' (NOT a religious song as you might expect) and Disturbed did a cover of their 'Land of Confusion'. Both are as good or better than the originals. That is something! Maybe play both versions with the original (although neither is a great Genesis tune.....but their melodies are beyond amazing).
You have to check out his song called "Eagle and the Hawk", the chords are amazing, the way the tempo changes, and the feeling and emotions you get from a very short song is just amazing, none like I've ever heard before. Much Thanks!
John Denver was the soundtrack to my soul. I will forever miss him.
John Denver was a true artist
John wrote many beautiful songS AND SANG THEMAS WELL. hIS CATALOG IS LARGE AND I COVERS EVERYTHING FROM NATURE TO FUN.
You are absolutely correct , i grew up with the 60s 70s 80s music and nothing today compares.
I walked down the aisle to this song in 1975. I'll always love John Denvers music.
The use of the Mandolin adds so much depth behind his amazing voice and moving poetry
Stunningly beautiful song.
John Denver was amazing! Listen to his "Rocky Mountain High'. ASAP. I'm high even as we speak! 😎
To love someone so much is truly amazing
Oh the orchestra is so beautiful

It gives me such joy to see someone react to the purity of his voice, his depth and his vulnerability the way that I did back in 1974.
Makes one envious that he’s hearing John for the first time.
I went to a John Denver concert in Denver in the 70's. It was the best concert I ever attended.
John Denver. My era. So darn talented. Gone too soon. Written for his wife Annie. His voice was unique. So clean and clear. Outdoorsman. Loved nature. Died in a plane crash viewing nature. 60s 70s were amazing for music. This is a taste of it.
If guys want to know what women want, it’s this devotion and commitment.
John Denver had several brilliant songs. You should check out John Denver and Cass Elliot singing Leaving on a Jet Plane on Burt Sugarman's Midnight Special TV show way back in the early 70's. So beautiful.
I grew up listening to John Denver. He has been called 'A song's best friend'.
I miss him.
Annie’s Song is one of the best Love Songs, both lyrically as well as instrumentally.
On Long Road trips to our country house upstate NY from Brooklyn no better singer to listen up there to when I was a kid. Great memories listening to the album an evening with John Denver on 8 track .
Listen to him sing it live, amazingly it sounds the same if not better
John Denver was a true shining star. Check out his live Wildlife Concert show. Very good. May he RIP... killed in a plane crash years ago.
I can't listen to this song without becoming emotional!
Me too. I almost always end up crying when I hear this

This was written for John's wife Annie.
So. Very. Beautiful !!!

25 Years Without John In The World Never Forgotten RIP John 💔😭

Still miss my friend to this day. Thanks for playing his song for Annie.
Glad you knew him
His song, Rocky Mountain High is great too. Along with Country Roads.
I loved what you had to say. Thank you for sharing from your heart.
At the time of his death in a single airplane crash, he ran out of gas a pilot error. The media, from what I remember. Seemed to report him as a has been singer, I never forget that. It's good that your proving them wrong.

Everyone is talking about the music from the 60s 70s and even 50s. They say they don't make beautiful songs like this anymore.
Its not the same anymore. I'm with you.
John Denver’s songs make me feel like I’m home.
Easily my favorite song by John Denver. Remember listening to it in 1974. The exact place.
He wrote this song in 10 minutes. It’s amazingly beautiful
John sang many great songs.
Possibly his most iconic song is “Country Roads”… The original studio version.
Thanks 🙏🏻 Great reaction.
John once said this was his favorite John Denver song.
GOD took him too soon.😇😭
R.I.P. John. I grew up in Denver Colorado and grew up on John Denver's music. I always thought he had a voice that could just touch the soul in a certain way. And with the music he always transports me home again.
Gone way to soon. John Denver was my all time favorite singer. His music and lyrics just brought feelings out like nothing else could.
Think the word you’re looking for is wholesome…
Musicians put more heart and feelings in their music back then. Enjoy

John Denver simply the best
Rocky Mountain High should be your next John Denver reaction!
He wrote this song: "Annie" for his wife Annie.
Such a great singer once again taken all too soon.
I first heard this as a Freshman (9) in High School along with my future wife. When we married almost 3 and a half year later we married and named our
daughter Annie after the song.
Listen to his song For You from the Windsong concert
If you want a really fun song by John Denver, listen to Grandma's Feather Bed 🙂
My parents listened to John Denver which means I listened to John Denver when I was a kid. Still listening to him 40+ years later.
The 1st moment of any JD song brings me instantly to a carefree time as a kid. 70's
My mom loved him so much and passed that on to me. Will subscribe
Extremely popular in his era. Many famous singers learned to portray honest lyrics from his songs. You can’t beat Denver’s enunciation. I would suggest for voice beauty, you also check out Karen Carpenter.
This has been sung & played at millions of weddings since 1974...John Denver dead to early...killed in a plane crash.
JMHO The 60’s & 70’s where the peak of most genres of music.
All his lyrics carry this much depth.
one of the most reacted to videos on UA-cam has gotta be "Unchained Melody" by RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS, everybody loves it.
John was one of the First celebrities to focus on the environment. Listen to Calypso.....
John Denver...Calypso
I was 11 when this came out he wrote this for his wife
Yessss John Denver... in concert I attended in Saratoga Springs, NY, Denver told the audience we were first crowd to hear this LIVE. .. IT DID HIT CHARTS shortly after... the folksy sound of USA in the 70s. Him, and of course, LINDA RONSTADT (my older baby crush, as a teen)

If you like John Denver,
Try Dan Fogelberg
My favorite is called
STARS...
Supposedly, he and his wife were skiing and he wanted to go for another run and she didn't. They got in a fight and he wrote this on the chair lift.
John Denver wrote this in 10 mins for his wife after their first separation and at the start of the breakdown of their marriage. It's quite a moving story as they were about to get back together when he died. I'm 71 and grew up listening to John Denver and it's so lovely to hear this again. You are not wrong!
He wrote this song to his wife!
Great job!
Did I say that he wrote this on the ride up a ski lift after leaving home angry at Annie? About what? 12 minutes? That's what i understand from a documentary. Having to listen to your reaction again!
when you get goosebumps on the first time hearing a song you know its good :-) i apriciate you
First time listener,, i checked your list and dont see anymore songs you did by JD, so when you're ready Ro ky Mountain High & Country Roads should be listened to, you'll thank me later
Frank Sinatra challenged John to write him a sad song. John wrote Frank, 'Like A Sad Song". I request John singing Like A Sad Song.
Let me die in your arms, my strong husband
This is when you actually had to have talent....................
Everything is too "commercial" now. Back then, we were blessed with true artists! Glad to have lived it. Glad to see younger people find and appreciate it!
Thanks for a great reaction!
Check out Don McClean “Vincent”

Personally.....I can't stand. HIP-HOP...

It's a vulnerable authenticity with a sweet melody that was ripe 50 years ago, and that's a place that no one today wants to go.
Today's artist wouldn't be able to pull off the first verse. Have to get a computer so it for them.
I was fortunate to have met him backstage in Cerritos, CA when I gifted him with a painting. He was my hero....I met him 5 months before his untimely passing.
He wrote it for his wife after an argument. No there are no lyrics or singers like this now and its sad. Vicki
If you thought this was beautiful listen to the song For You it’s awesome ❣️
I first heard this song 50 years ago as a 17 year old. It is just as moving and beautiful now as it was then.
First time watching you, and I'm so glad you did this reaction. I get misty eyed thinking about how tragic his life ended. So young. I saw the goosebumps. How many artists accomplish that?
He was amazingly expressive.
Thank you for letting that last note ring out and die. It loses without that last note!
There were so many of John's songs that impacted my life. His song Sunshine On My Shoulders, was my son's lullaby and is now the song he sings to his kids every night. Don't miss James Taylor, Jim Croce, or even Barry Manilow, not to mention other John Denver songs.
Alex, you are so right about music then vs now.
Simply put, He was truly in love with Annie and he showed it to everyone, especially her, in a song.
John Denver wrote this song for his wife Annie and later divorced her.
