Had the privilege to see him in concert in my hometown of cork Ireland 🇮🇪 in 1986 what a voice and such a gentleman I thank god I got to see live in concert love your reaction ❤
This was the song my mom walked down the aisle to at her wedding, and one of the songs we played at her funeral. 💔 she loved singing John Denver around a bonfire, miss you Mama
John Denver is a poet. His words in the song express his deep love for the persons he dearly love. If the melody in this song does not move you, the lyrics will blow you away. The part when the humming comes blended by stringed violin full orchestra-like accompaniment, the feeling is just heavenly.
Just so you know. That song was written on a ski lift in about 10 min. He wrote the song shortly after Annie and John went through a difficult time in their marriage. John plays guitar mainly, also piano.
Check out John and Mama Cass singing leaving on a jet plane on the midnight special TV show. They harmonize beautifully together. Also, John was a world class Guitar player.
If you want to hear another great love song by John, the song ‘For You’, written for his second wife, Cassie, is on his ‘wildlife Concert’ album from 1995. This is a live album and showcases how great he was singing live. He even plays the piano on this song. I was blessed to see John in person 16 times over the years and found each of his concerts to be an amazing spiritual experience, with a vibration of unconditional love and compassion he shared with the audiences. I still listen to John’s music every day, to connect with what is really important in life; but in truth, you don’t just listen to John Denver, you experience him with your whole heart and soul. I loved watching your reaction here and I’m sure you will love digging into his amazing catalog of heartfelt songs.
This song was written in 10 minutes while he was on a ski lift in Aspen Colorado. I had this song played at my wedding, and it still holds true today. It is in my opinion the greatest love song ever written. The man is truly missed.
Such a heartfelt song from John Denver, so beautiful. He also sang with Cass Elliott, the song was called 'I'm leaving on a jet plane' - sadly he died in a plane after that. We all miss him dearly RIP John 💔💔
I grew up in a log cabin in the 70's on 20 acres of woods. My parents played John Denver basically on a loop. I can still sing most of his songs lol. If you want a short one but a good one that almost nobody knows about, check out The Eagle And The Hawk. (Not live, do studio version)
This song always makes me think of my Grandma. She used to play this song on vinyl every day in the 70s-80s when she cleaned houses. Brings a tear to my eye, miss her so much. Beautiful song.
Loved this reaction! One of his best songs and one of my favorite. He wrote this for his wife after they had a fight. It came to him as he was on a ski lift. He’s playing the guitar and does in all his songs. One of the most beautiful love songs ever!
That's him playing the guitar....not many realize he was a virtuoso on the twelve string acoustic guitar. I'm so fortunate to have met him after a concert in Cerritos, CA. in 1997 5 months before his untimely death. I got to shake his hand and thank him for changing my life. I grew up in crap hole, Cleveland, Ohio. The river there, the Cuyahoga was so polluted, it caught on fire. Today, Cleveland is rated as one of the top ten dangerous cities in America to live in. I graduated from college and moved west to Boise, Idaho and now live on a ranch high in the Rocky Mountains in a log home. It's almost August 2023 and we will soon be watching the Perseid Meteor showers. High up in the Rockies, there are no city lights to obstruct this Arial phenomena....it's what he wrote about in his masterpiece, ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH......"I've seen it rain'n fire in the sky." His music changed the trajectory of my life and I've never looked back......again, like in ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH......"He was born in the summer of his 27th year, comin' home to a place he'd never been before." What a wonderful life that Jesus and John's music have given me....grateful can't describe my feelings.
Even if you can't sing Sing this to ur woman And watch her eyes as heart goes into bliss Then hold her for what seems like forever Then thank God for her
Devin, I have this on my playlist this is one of the most romantic love songs ever written in my opinion. You must do a song called if by a group called bread yes I said bread like a slice of bread lol
He and Annie adopted two children. Shortly after they adopted their first child, Zac, they got one of those memory books where you record various things from the day, week, month, and/or first year of your child. What was the price of a gallon of milk, a gallon of gas, who was the president, and so forth. One of the entries was for the "Number One Song in the Country" during the week the baby was born. He had one of his assistants trace that information down. The number one song the week Zac was born was, "Annie's Song". One other note, when he was the special guest for one of the Miss Universe pageants (it was held in Miami that year, I believe), he sang "Annie's Song" for/to the five finalists. During the part where he hums in the middle of the song, on this night he sang in Spanish. It was pretty cool.
John! John's voice is so soothing! He could calm the savage beast! My all time favorite song is My Sweet Lady. Then Sunshine On My Shoulders. For a lighter side Thank God I'm A Country Boy! John's a good rabbit hole to explore! Great reaction!
John wrote Annie's Song in 10 minutes on a ski lift in Aspen. John could play the 6 and 12 string guitar, the electric guitar, the fiddle. John and Annie divorced in1982 but remained good friends. Annie never remarried.
Thank you! John Denver has been a part of my life, everyday, since 1971. I believe you would love "Rocky Mountain High" and "Sweet Surrender.' I will be out here waiting patiently for your next John Denver reaction. He is worth the wait. God Bless. P.S. His song MATTHEW is a much overlooked, underplayed song that tells of love, friendship, and the bible as the foundation of what gets us through the hardest times.
Annie’s Song was written while he took a ski lift to the top of a mountain, in TEN MINUTES! He and Annie had been arguing, and he wrote this masterpiece for her. Check out Rocky Mountain High, Calypso, Take Me Home Country Roads, Sweet Surender, and the infamous Thank God I’m a Country Boy! You will be a permanent convert! ❤️
An intimate, moving song about married love would probably not fly in popular music today (maybe in country music). John wrote this song after a fight with his then-wife, Annie Martel. To hear a grown man pour out his heart about how much his wife means to him and comparing her to the beauty he finds in nature would get laughed at today, but this was a huge Number One for Denver and people could relate to it.
Enjoyed your video. This song was my beautiful soul mates and I song. After 20 years together, and the day after our anniversary, my beloved really did die in my arms after a terrible tragedy. My heart is broken, and when I hear this song, the tears flow which I cannot stop. You are so right to treasure every moment you have, because it can be taken away so quickly. Thank for listening to this song. It means a lot to many people. With respect Nathan
John played 6 and 12 string guitar, usually 12 string on Annies song, electric guitar, piano, fiddle, mandolin. He mainly played his ccoustic guitars or piano in concert, electric in concert for Johnny B. Good. There is a concert in Japan where plays fiddle on Thank God I'm A Country Boy. Also a TV show he did, JD And The Mountains where John plays mandolin while Itzhak Perlman plays violin (fiddle) on a bluegrass piece. And John takes him fishing lol.
He wrote this in 10 minutes after their first separation and at the start of the breakdown of their marriage. He truly loved her and she loved him but his determination to get his music out there meant that their marriage couldn't survive. Sadly, they were going to try again when he was killed in the plane crash.
Devin. Thank you. My wife of 20 years (my love) died in a motor vehicle accident when a drunk driver hit her and killed her and my 5 year old daughter. This was my daughter’s (and soon thereafter my wife and my) favorite song. Just don’t know what to say. Thank you
Love John he wrote this after a fight with his wife, pure poetry. You should check out his movie with Goerge Burns " Oh God". Merry Christmas and Enjoy
Devin, I don't know if you were aware of it, but John was actually flying the plane that crashed and killed him. The report was that the plane started having engine trouble and it's always broken my heart what he may have went through. 💔 😪
"Dear Lord. May you watch over this man and his family and protect them from those who seek harm against them. May you lift them up through troubling times and give them strength when they feel weak. May you keep them warm when they feel cold. And may you show them a light when it is dark" "Through Jesus Christ our Lord." "Amen"
You should check out John Denver and Cass Elliot singing I’m Leaving On A Jet Plane. If you want the live performance do the one on The Midnight Special tv show.
Denver wrote this for his wife, during a very stormy time in their marriage. John was taking all the road trips ("Leaving on a Jet Plane"), and he had a huge following of groupies. Story had it that concert crowds would chant for Annie to take John back (and to publicly acknowlege that). But it never happened.
Story behind the song is that he and his wife got into a fight, he ended up leaving the house but wrote the song in like a few minutes and when he returned home he played for his wife and they weren't mad at each other anymore
Thanks, Devin - JD was a great songwriter and a great performer - if you have time & inclination, his live performer with Cass Elliot -- where she joked about having written "Leaving on a Jet Plane" -- which, JD wrote, of course -- (1972 - Midnight Special - waaay before your time, lol) - but it was meant to promote voting in young people.. ua-cam.com/video/NKdknYaSHgE/v-deo.html
John Denver is my most favorite singer! There are so few songs that aren't good! Other songs to react to: "Rocky Mountain High" (which I just learned on my guitar!), "Farewell Andromeda", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "Shanghai Breezes", "Grandma's Feather Bed", "Matthew", "Leavin' on a Jet Plane", "This Old Guitar" and "Poems, Prayers, and Promises" which is my favorite!
They divorced in 82, Annie instigated it. Annie Denver never remarried. They were friends and had been for some years, when John died. Both Annie and his 2nd wife Cassandra Delaney were at his Memorial services.

One of the purest male voices I've ever heard.
I saw this on a bumper sticker years ago: It's not about finding the right person. It's about being the right person. Amen.
Stunningly beautiful song.
One of the most beautiful, romantic songs ever written. Even after more than 40 years listening, I've never tired of it. Thanks for sharing this one!
👍👍👍👍❤❤
Same
What a fabulous voice....and a great talent that left us too early God Bless!
One of the greatest love songs ever written.
John Denver simply the best.
He’s playing the guitar and singing.
John Denver is a poet. His words in the song express his deep love for the persons he dearly love. If the melody in this song does not move you, the lyrics will blow you away. The part when the humming comes blended by stringed violin full orchestra-like accompaniment, the feeling is just heavenly.
There are a handful of songs I can't perform because I get too choked up to sing, and Annie's Song is one of them.
Just so you know. That song was written on a ski lift in about 10 min. He wrote the song shortly after Annie and John went through a difficult time in their marriage. John plays guitar mainly, also piano.
I had tge privilege of seeing John Denver in concert about four times. He’s unique.
He's playing. I met him and he is an amazing guitar player and vocalist. Mostly, he was a good person.
Pure Liebe. Gänsehaut auf allen Ebenen❤
He was one of the best singers and songwriters ever.
They don't write'm like this anymore! It's definitely a lost art! What a beautiful visual.
Along with his voice, the instrumentation is perfection. Those violins!
I think this is prettiest song John Denver ever recorded. I got to meet John Denver once, he was the nicest person.
Check out John and Mama Cass singing leaving on a jet plane on the midnight special TV show. They harmonize beautifully together. Also, John was a world class Guitar player.
He and Julie Andrews singing Edelweiss was very beautiful too.
He played while singing. For his best watch ALL his live songs in the Wildlife Concert. Perfection..
he is the one playing the guitar. he wrote the song to his wife after an argument. beautiful

Spot on. Lucky you got to see him.
He and his wife got into an argument and he wrote this on a 15 minute ski lift ride! Super talented guy ♥️
Has to be one of the most romantic songs ever! The sound just fills your ears and your heart at the same time! Loved it!
This song was written in 10 minutes while he was on a ski lift in Aspen Colorado. I had this song played at my wedding, and it still holds true today. It is in my opinion the greatest love song ever written. The man is truly missed.
“Poems, Prayers, and Promises,” was one of his favorite songs that he wrote.

The Eagle And The Hawk has been my fav JD song since I was a little girl in the 70’s, listening to my older brothers’ Aerie album.
An amazing song. One of my favorites.
John Denver was, and still remains, a legend.
This song always makes me think of my Grandma. She used to play this song on vinyl every day in the 70s-80s when she cleaned houses. Brings a tear to my eye, miss her so much. Beautiful song.
31 years, 8 kids, 8 grandchildren and the hubs and I are still solid. Love is beautiful and when you find your soulmate ❤ you are truly blessed.

This is one of my favourite songs for years. And it probably always will be. It's just too beautiful.
"take a whiff of that love..." Well said brother.
Devin, I have this on my playlist this is one of the most romantic love songs ever written in my opinion. You must do a song called if by a group called bread yes I said bread like a slice of bread lol
I'm 62 years old and I've never had that kind of love And that breaks my heart

Check out country roads and Rocky Mountain high
John! John's voice is so soothing! He could calm the savage beast!
My all time favorite song is My Sweet Lady.
Then Sunshine On My Shoulders.
For a lighter side
Thank God I'm A Country Boy!
John's a good rabbit hole to explore!
Great reaction!
Yes,that's John on guitar.
When he said "let me die in your arms" my heart dropped
John wrote Annie's Song in 10 minutes on a ski lift in Aspen. John could play the 6 and 12 string guitar, the electric guitar, the fiddle. John and Annie divorced in1982 but remained good friends. Annie never remarried.

JOHN DENVER "CALYPSO"...NUFF SAID.
His voice is so clear and beautiful. Great reaction.
I would like a human being like he was in the bottom of his heart to rule the world in this sad and dark era.
John Denver was a highly talented guitarist
They don't write songs like this anymore and that too bad, we could sure use some love being expressed these days.
Enjoyed your video. This song was my beautiful soul mates and I song. After 20 years together, and the day after our anniversary, my beloved really did die in my arms after a terrible tragedy. You would love his duet with Olivia Newton-John called Fly Away.......
John graduated from one of the high school's that I went to but graduated about a decade or so before I did.
John was playing and singing.
Thank you. Your reaction is epic.
Think of the descriptions, it's lovemaking. ❤
A glorious song, lovely lyrics! Yes Annie was his wife and they split after this song. I’d be hard pressed to leave a man who wrote this about me!
I believe John Denver played the guitar
His given name was Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr., in 1943, not in the mountains of Colorado but in Roswell, New Mexico.
He wrote this in 10 minutes after their first separation and at the start of the breakdown of their marriage. He truly loved her and she loved him but his determination to get his music out there meant that their marriage couldn't survive. Sadly, they were going to try again when he was killed in the plane crash.
THANKS
Next......"Rocky Mountain High". 💔🖤❤
I saw him live.
He wrote so many beautiful songs but my 2 favorites are "The Wings That Fly Us Home" and "Follow Me".
Devin. Thank you. My wife of 20 years (my love) died in a motor vehicle accident when a drunk driver hit her and killed her and my 5 year old daughter. This was my daughter’s (and soon thereafter my wife and my) favorite song. Just don’t know what to say. Thank you
I know that Love , it fills my heart every day, from the moment i open my eyes and see my loving wife.
💕💕💕
Love John he wrote this after a fight with his wife, pure poetry. You should check out his movie with Goerge Burns " Oh God". Merry Christmas and Enjoy
Fantabulous reaction bro ❤
Great reaction 😊
He plays the instruments Brian Birch
Hi, John plays and sings.
Devin, I don't know if you were aware of it, but John was actually flying the plane that crashed and killed him. The report was that the plane started having engine trouble and it's always broken my heart what he may have went through. 💔 😪

Great reaction Please do THANK GOD IM A COUNTRY BOY LIVE by John Denver !!
I just noticed the words on your shirt. They are at the Y where I do water aerobics. I read them multiple times each class I'm in.
Denver wrote this for his wife, during a very stormy time in their marriage.
John was taking all the road trips ("Leaving on a Jet Plane"), and he had a huge following of groupies.

I think you should react to "For You" by John Denver. It is one of the best songs ever!
He’s playing
Great reaction!
You should listen to his "Rocky Mountain High" - great song
Reminds me of a Psalm, think David and Bathshib.
My beautiful girlfriend died just before Christmas and we sang this song at her funeral wasn't a dry eye in the place .my life now as no meaning.
Story behind the song is that he and his wife got into a fight, he ended up leaving the house but wrote the song in like a few minutes and when he returned home he played for his wife and they weren't mad at each other anymore
For his wife ❤❤❤
You should react to John Denver some days are diamonds.

I believe John played 6 and 12 string guitars, harmonica, banjo, I'm not sure if he played Dobro or dulcimer.
John Denver is my most favorite singer! There are so few songs that aren't good!
