Yeesh -- patrolmen, let me give you some hard-earned advice. Calm down, take 3 breaths, then calm down again. As an FTO I saw way too many itchy triggers and heard way too many conflicting verbal commands, all of whom were way too amped up. You're a walkiling liability until you sort out your training and felony step procedures. This stemmed from a paraphernalia charge, not a murder suspect. Deescalate first and foremost; saves lives.

@@tylerpitts3312 No, he fled from a traffic stop. The basis for that traffic stop is flimsy -- "suspicious vehicle." We get this kind of call about 200 times each night. These kinds of details might seem silly in UA-cam comments, but in court, his reasonable suspicion is flaky. The moment the patrolman spotted the paraphernalia is when it turned into a bona fide stop.

That’s literally what I was coming to comment too! All too often we see 5 different officers shouting orders, and even the most compliant person could make a “wrong move” according to one officer and things can go south quickly. He commanded that scene, and good on him for doing so.

I already began seeing how things could go so badly the second I heard one guy telling the suspect to crawl out (for which he needs to use his hands) and when he attempted, another officer yelled at him to keep his hands up.
I've seen too many videos of cops all just barking orders at whoever they're trying to get under control. Even if they were all saying the same thing, just the fact that it's many of them talking all at once, each one trying to be heard over the noise they are themselves creating, it will make not just the suspect but everyone (meaning the officers too) more high-strung, emotional, confused and lead to very unpredictable or outrageous outcomes.

The video gave the context that the man was "using the baby as a bodyshield for himself" but as I looked at it, it turns out that he was actually trying to protect his toddler, he was surrounded by a bunch of cops barking orders at him but the worst part was this guy with a canine *aggressively and quickly closing the distance to a mere few feet away* and the dog was rearing up and barking and trying to get at him and he was lucky the officer was still holding the dog back just feet away. So the man had little choice than to just hold his child up to his own chest afraid of putting him to the ground and the dog lunging at him.

I actually can imagine it because it happened to me once. I was asleep and then there were cops outside my bedroom window, pulling a guy off my windowsill. It seems he was trying to break into my bedroom but my window was locked and then another neighbor saw him. It seemed like there were a billion cops and cop cars out there. Turns out, he was my neighbor's nephew and already had a criminal record for trespass and attempted sexual assault. I assume that was what he was there for, knowing that I worked day shift while my mom worked nights (I was a young adult by then). After that, Mom and I coordinated our shifts (we both worked at the same hospital) so that neither of us was alone in the house at any given time. I don't know what happened to the nephew. I wasn't even questioned by the police.

Of course not. They sign up because they truly want to help people (most of the time). They want to help keep their communities safe and secure from the evil in the world. Do they know that means they will be exposed to traumatic events? Yes. Does that mean that their willingness to put themselves into harm’s way and to be so exposed is any less heroic? No! Because they are doing it for more self-less reasons. Your comment lacks any ability to put yourself into their shoes and really understand why they are willing to face trauma in the first place, which is why you lack sympathy in response.

    Some information for those unfamiliar:
The officer who first speaks to Jesse at the beginning of this video is Officer Rear. He was previously a correctional officer at the Rock County Jail prior to being promoted to a patrol officer for the sheriff's department. The officer that was hit by Jesse was Officer Velencia whom also was a correctional officer previously. Later in the video around the 17:10 mark, you'll see Officer Danielson.
All of these Officers were familiar with Jesse Seales as Mr. Seales was an inmate at the jail on previous occassions. It would appear by watching this video and listening to the convorsations that it was very likely that Jesse was on this phone while driving during the chase and was likely staring at it's screen when he hit officer Velencia. Quite possibly, it was also this phone that his passanger was trying to find after Jesse ran from the vehicle.

@Andrew Salhany interestingly enough, he wasn't exaggerating either. That's actually what is supposed to happen in those situations. Every officer is trained to individually respond at the exact instant that there is potential danger, not just wait for another officer to fire the first shot, so if he did suddenly move or reach for something, everyone on scene would've laid into him simultaneously. Can't leave anything up to chance

She was literally attempting to get away from him as he was approaching but is such a shitty driver that she literally put her vehicle in the worst position possible. @@MrJester831 bruh you're either 15 or you're delusional. They got a call to a suspicious vehicle. They were within their line of duty to follow-up on that call. The driver had every right to remain silent, but he kept the encounter going and had drug paraphernalia in "plain view." That gives the officers the right to detain him and search the vehicle. The driver then proceeded to start the car and flea detainment and begin a vehicle pursuit. I pray you one day decide to actually do some research and really find out what you believe and why, so you can have an educated perspective on things.

It doesn't matter that they had a call for a suspicious vehicle at another location, a "suspicious vehicle" is in no way whatsoever reasonable articulable suspicion of a CRIME; if they had pulled him over then, it would have been *illegal* and as they already knew who he was and tracked him down this constitutes police harassment. At the point in time in which he was asked to turn off his car and was encircled, that was the point in which he became illegally detained; allegedly seeing the drug paraphernalia was AFTER they already had violated his rights, and that's the problem.
