Great video. My only comment is around the ammonia vs ammonium point. The bag was pumped full of oxygen prior to packing giving it an oxygen rich environment, so it will always convert to ammonia. If there was no oxygen, the ammonium wouldn’t convert, but the fish wouldn’t be alive due to the lack of oxygen. CO2 is produced by the fish which helps lowers the pH and subsequently the toxicity of the ammonia. When opening the bag, the air/water exchange starts and CO2 is released causing pH to rise and the ammonia toxicity spikes.

So glad that guy was very responsible. I received a group of guppies that I am extremely lucky they were not dead as while it might have been in the upper 70's in Florida, normally in Southern Illinois in early December, the highs are more likely in the mid 40's. Fortunately we had a warm spell of low 60's and when I got them I was home and no heat pack and not even in a Styrofoam box and not packed well at all.

Hi, I noticed n the 1st video you mentioned panda garra, do you know why we can't get them in Australia? How do you sterilise your nets - what's the procedure? I've to go to that shop when the old owners where there. Even though it took me over an hr by train to get there. What I like about that shop is that they quarantine their fish.

Another great video !! Question: assuming excellent packaging with oxygen, heat pads if necessary, etc, how long a transit time would you consider fairly safe ?? Merry Xtmas to all.

Depends on the density and size of the bags, during some of our worst shipping delays I had some cpds go 9 days in the mail with 0 doas
