I just began to breed my CPD last week after I found a live baby in a water change. I didn't know they where breeding that easy.
Already I have ~20 babies 🤩 over about 10 days in the experiment.
The only thing I don't like about an automatic egg collector is that it doesn't make the difference between eggs, food and 💩 . That small bin at the top becomes disgusting in a matther of hours.
I prefer to take a little bit of time each day to get the trap out and sort the eggs out with a small pipette.
I glued a plastic stick to it in order to keep my hands dry the whole process.
I only need half a drop of 1% metylene blue to make the hatch rate go near 100%
These fish breed like crazy. Very fun to watch.

      Yeah you are absolutely right.
Some people aren't meant to use methalyn. It his too powerfull of a tool for the common man who has to know the rule of tree, mathematics, proportions, dilutions, percentages n'stuff.
That's why government had to pass laws over the availability of methalin (especially the green, blue and purple ones) it is a felony in most places to have methaline-G/B/P in your possession.
Maybe you will be lucky if you go to the hardware store in the paint department and ask for methalyn-white. It is used as a degreaser but will work on fish eggs to keep fungal based viruses out of there (just add more).
The yellow one is better but harder to find. I bought mine from a restaurant who where using it as a disinfectant. No one will sell it to you outright but if you ask the owner to get a small quantity they should be happy to give it (or sell it) to you for about 6$

    • @BlakesAquatics

Hey Ben, its just a pipe that the tap is below the oitlet so when i close it (unless i forget about it and the tank drains below the strainer) it is under constant syphon. That way its just turn tap, wait for drain, fill with hose

@@BlakesAquatics Thank you so much for responding. I can keep all my leopard danios together & then keep my cpd’s separate all together. Those leopard danios can be extremely so I strongly disagree with anyone that says they are a find community fish. Yes technically they go with other fish but they’re so extremely aggressive. They just bully the other fish until they starve. I’ve even had to use tweezers carefully to go past the extremely aggressive individuals to feed the more docile leopard danios. Thank you very much for the extremely helpful tip that fast where sells the cpds. I will keep them separate. This is very exciting. Do you think I can keep cpds with white cloud minnows? I am assuming this would work. I swear those little leopard danios are like freaking piranahs. I have never seen such an aggressive little fish except of course with cichlids. I don’t have any experience to speak of in our hobby but I’ve still seen enough fish growing up to know how they behave generally with some of the species.

    1) can leopard 🐆 danio’s live fine with celestial pearl danio’s & does fast way Aquarium sell celestial pearl danio’ls because I always go to my local shop Up Market Aquarium & sometimes the next closest one I enjoy going to a lot. Is North Coburg Aquarium but fast way Aquarium is harder for me to get to because I am on public transport. My question is do you sell celestial pearl danio’s or do you recommend? I wait until you breed them & is there some lest I can get put on so I know that I am buying them from you because that’s the only way I can afford to support one of my fellow fish fam. Members. I don’t have money from memberships so always feel bad that I can’t support Alex in Seattle (Fishtory) the way I would like to. You’re the only Aussie I “know” online, but I would want to support by purchasing the fish from. That’s a lot of questions all over the place so let me know how you go.
