“Oh that’ll do it!” 😂 Exactly. Love seeing folks react to this one!
Haha! Yeah, I've seen a few reactions since and it's a lot of fun seeing folks get mindblown!
I really enjoyed your reaction, David. I agree it's so much fun watching reactions to this song. I think HF really enjoyed teasing us with this surprise.
I think you are my favorite reactor so far!
Yes, a song with surprises. Tim who goes tenor, Austin and Rob who also hit different notes than usual, the inhuman vocal percussion and as a great end to the surprises the incredible bass of Chance. Simply fabulous
Home Free the number 1 !!!!❤
A song with surprises indeed! I enjoyed all of them, and I love that they had so much fun switching it up with this video.
Tim has a solo album out called Pieces of Me. In these 12 do-wop style songs will display all of his incredible 5 octave range!
I have heard of this - I think just audio though? Trying to figure out if I can react to any of it, given my style includes a lot of visual stuff.
@@davidkreacts At least 4 of them are videos.
@@oldschoolpop8428 , that’s right. The videos on UA-cam are for : Come Go With Me; Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay; In My Room; and Since I Don’t Have You. The others are definitely worth an audio only reaction, though.
I've watched a million reactions to this video, plus numerous repeats of the original HF video. After this reaction I will never see this video the same again. THANK YOU DAVID!!
Thank you so much for the kind words - I'm so glad you enjoyed my video!
I’m so looking forward to your analysis of Home Free’s cover of John Mayer’s “In the Blood”.
It’s subtle.
It’s also thoughtful and melancholy. Hit me hard.
It's on the (very long) list, but I'll get there at some point. :-)
And _What We Ain't Got_
Exactly right David. Some reactors don’t know Tim is the bass and they think he’s a tenor…we have to say NO! Yeah, it’s a bit of a switcheroo with Tim and Chance. Chance is quite capable of going low so this is nice. It’s a good rendition. Glad you liked it. Good analysis. You would love I Can’t Outrun You with Chance in the lead….so good! Have a good weekend.😍
I'm glad folks told me to wait on this one - definitely pays off. Thank you very much for the comments, and yes, I Can't Outrun You is on the list.
I love that when you react to videos we not only get a greater understanding of the vocals but also the cinematography. 😊 I know how the music makes me feel but I don't always notice the more subtle way the lights and camera add to that. So kudos to you sir!
I'm so glad I'm bringing something new to the table for you. Thank you very much, and I hope you continue to enjoy my work.
Chance was the bass for his previous vocal group and Tim sang tenor in one of his previous vocal groups.
Now, after this, that doesn't surprise me at all! :-P
what an awesome and comprehensive analysis. David you were spot on brother
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. :-)
This is one of their masterpieces!! It's incredible!!
Agreed!
David, you again prove to me why your analysis is the best. You pick out the subtle, yet important things in not only the music, but also the lighting & videography. I really want to see you analyze Home Free's cover of "I can't outrun you". That one may take over an hour, there is so much in that one to go over.
I had never thought of the image of isolation with their single shots.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed. I have Outrun You on my list and it's definitely one of the most recommended, so will likely get to it soon.
@davidkreacts that will be awesome David !!! Sorry for the delay in answering, but I've been in the hospital for 3 weeks (hopefully about to leave maybe even today) and only been able to check the internet a few minutes each day.
This is why Chance is such a great addition to this group! Tim gets to sing more leads while Chance sings the bass.
Hear hear. Never anything wrong with increasing versatility!
I was so excited when I saw what you were reacting to this time around! I think I may have peed a little. Lol. Oh, this was perfect timing, David! I had actually forgotten you hadn't reacted to this one yet because of just how well you understand the group dynamic with Home Free, then you come through and surprise me with the reaction itself. Oh, wonderful!!
The look on your face when the song started, when it became apparent it was Tim singing and just how high in his range he was singing, was priceless. Exactly as it should be. And, you're correct about his tone sounding very different in his upper range. That's always something that surprises me; knowing it's the same singer yet hearing a different "voice" come from them.
Then, of course, we have the Chance drop. It's so easy to forget, as most of us often do, that Chance was the bass in his own group. One that placed VERY well in their own season of the Sing Off, may I add. Season 2, iirc. ( Streetcorner Symphony, if you have a chance for some personal listening I would certainly recomend their version of Down On The Corner. ) So pushing his lower end isn't something new to Chance, nor is what being a bass in a song entails. Then he comes along and reminds us with things like this. He may not be as freakishly low as a Tim or a Geoff but that doesn't make him any less effective or dynamic when used properly, as he was here.
The song...The song is heartbreaking when you listen, and think about, the lyrics. " What we have isn't good. It's nobody's fault. I don't love you, but I DO care, and I don't want to hurt you. Leaving, as we should, is going to hurt us both. What do we do here? " Nowhere is that in the lyrics...yet it's everywhere in the lyrics. And the way the song ends...Did they leave? Did they stay? What happened? We don't know because, by the end of the song, THEY didn't know. You hurt so much for the people who the song is about. Partially because we've all been in situations either just like this or very close, and it makes us remember our own turmoil during that time.
Before we get into your breakdown of the song and the video I have to say something about the way you, David, present unfamiliar information to people. As soon as most reactors start talking about chord structure, tonics, and note progression I tune out. It's not something I understand, nor is it something I'm going to "get" right away. The way most reactors present this information is to either treat us, the audience, as though we're stupid and don't understand the simplest of things, or they treat us as though we've been delving into such things for years and understand what they're trying to say completely. You, however, present the same information in such a way as to not dumb it down so that those listening feel stupid hearing the explanation, nor are such experts we have full understanding of what you're saying. Sure, there are SOME things we should all know, based on previous discussions of the same topics ( you know, IF we were paying attention ). Other things you'll take the time to explain in a bit more detail, more than likely using examples of things we've all heard before that are like what you're explaining. There are things you mentioned in this video I still don't get but, because of the way you've presented the information? I'm going to look up, on my own, those things because I SHOULD know them. Any time someone can present information in such a way that it makes me interested enough to learn more...that's a rare gift, IMO, David. So, thank you. Back to the topic at hand...
I never paid a lot of attention to the video itself. Unless something just visually jumps out and grabs my attention that's the way of most videos. Hearing you explain just how subtle the folks behind the camera were being with setting, lighting, and motion, though? Very interesting. Very thought provoking. I have a feeling I'll be watching videos with a new eye from now on, looking for those small things that push a story forward.
This was one of your best videos yet, sir. And not just for the surprise that it was, either. It makes me so excited to see what you do next. There are so many things, groups, solo artists, musical pieces, documentary style things, that I would love to see your reaction to! I'm exploding over here! Lol. For your Home Free journey, though, I would love to get your take on their version of Crosby, Stills, and Nash's Helplessly Hoping. It's a beautifully haunting song, especially the way the boys do it. That is, as always, just a suggestion. In the meantime I hope that you and yours have been, and continue to be, well. Thank you for all the hard work you put into this channel and the videos you've posted on it. It may not always seem like it but it IS appreciated.
( P.S. What is it with you and not letting me get out of the comment section for less than three paragraphs, anyway? Lol. )
There is a From the Vault episode for this video. They'll show them rehearsing, setting up the space, and just being the goofballs they can be. Sort of a camera behind the camera. They usually add to that series the first Monday of the month...usually. There are 21 videos so far. I do recommend checking them out.
Ooh - I'll have to check that out. I watched the Try Everything one and enjoyed that.
I also loved that wavering "oha...oha...oha..." background of voices. Going with your nautical theme, it's almost like waves rushing over you. As for the tone of Chance's low note, I spent a lot of years living in a port city and that tone wasn't like a ship horn, it was like a lighthouse horn in the fog. Those are two different pitches.
Ooh - I like that interpretation. Also, good to know re the horns - I don't have experience of a lighthouse horn - I've heard a bell, but otherwise only lights. I haven't ever lived near a port though.
Home Free really blew our minds with this one. Tim has said that he practices his tenor and works on high notes as it strengthens his low notes. He was late coming into his bass voice and was a state winner as a tenor in Texas while in school. (Lotsa competition in a state that large.)
Home Free is releasing the third installment of their Stargazer Trilogy. These are original songs from their newest album written by Austin. I would love to see you do a reaction to the entire trilogy.
It's always impressive to me when someone successful for one thing grows to be known for the complete opposite as well, no matter the age. That's awesome. Interesting that working on high helps low - I should try that.
To my surprise, not even the components of the Stargazer Trilogy had been suggested yet - added to my list.
They chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. Just proves their lack of having a female in the group is no detriment--they just let their BASS handle it! 🤣
LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. Every member of Home Free could absolutely be a solo ⭐ star ⭐ but their harmonies together are MAGIC!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Indeed! Definitely not what I would have expected, but I love it! Yes, I completely agree - they are supremely talented and versatile.
And Adam Rupp's versatile percussion is often overlooked. He does a really complex drum fill during the big rising crescendo. On the rest of the song he is doing lots of fun little flicks and delicate drum and hand clapping sounds.
It's a slow motion and inevitable train crash, but no one is admitting it, which will just make it worse. It's like you have a couple really ethical and strong people, but the match isn't right. Their ethics and loyalty turn into a kind of denial of reality and all the eventual pain that will bring when it all comes down, which it must. It is an important thing to remember that every "good" personality trait has its downside.
The detail vocal percussionists go into astonishes me - the more I listen to music by any of the big a capella groups, the more little embellishments I hear - it's really impressive.
Excellent description - and what a suspenseful and sad situation to be in. It's a heart-rending story.
Remember its not just the one bass part by Chance, but Tim was singing lead and Chance was carrying the bass through the whole song.
Oh I think he acknowledged that at least once in the analysis part
Indeed - as was mentioned below, I caught that, but not until later in the video. Too busy concentrating on all the unexpected things!
Many of us were surprised with Tim's highs here. By now we're used to it, even singing Beach Boys songs. The guy is just amazing!
Chance used to be the bass singer in Street Corner Symphony (just before he joined HF). He always sounds great!
They all have awesome voices, and Adam Rupp is, like Austin calls him, a freak of nature!
Absolutely agreed on all counts.
This song prepares you for hearing My Maria that Tim and Austin did during Covid in someone's backyard. Very casual, Very pleasant on the ears!
That is indeed on my list, and I was told to wait until after this, so I have flagged it as one I can now do - not sure when I'll get there, but I'm looking forward to it.
And Tim's solo 'Will you still love me tomorrow/Stay'
This song is one of my favorites. So glad you waited to react to it. Your surprise at hearing the switch ups in the voices was great. Tim can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. And Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. This song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original.
Thank you! Yes, this definitely makes sense to see once you know the group well. I love the flexibility on display here.
As usual, they are surprise after surprise, however, do not overlook the incredible “beat-box” background!
That's fair - there was a lot of unusual stuff to focus on in this, and I don't think I gave Rupp quite the kudos he deserved for his awesome work in this during the reaction. Definitely heard things since I wish I'd spoken about.
"That'll do it" 😂😂😂
Great reaction as always David!
God they are so talented!
Hehe. Thank you - appreciate that! They really are, aren't they?
Chance is actually a bass, he just sings baritone because he is the higher bass compared to Tim. It gives the group a lot of flexibility.
Makes complete sense to me, and allows Tim more freedom live too, I imagine.
For a little more info on the filming of this HF video you might want to check out "Home Free from the Vault May Day". The vault series are behind the scenes videos. Enjoy! Really enjoyed your analysis, very informative. Thank you.
I will do that - I know the series is there, but haven't got round to watching any of them yet - I should do. Thank you for your kind words - I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
This is my favorite HF song and you showed me so much more of it! I really enjoyed this reaction!! They sang this song in the same key as Cam.
I'm so glad! Thank you for the comments.
There's also an audience-taken vide of this song: "Mayday Live" that will surprise you even more - watch it and you'll understand why. No matter what they sing, they'll always sound a little 'country' 'cuz 3 of them are from southern U.S. states (Tim - Texas; Austin - Georgia; Chance - Alabama; Rob & Adam are both from Minnesota). Thanks for playing this & your comments.
I think that since they're also all wearing black that it lends a rather funereal aspect to the video. By the way watch Tim & Austin's duet of "My Maria" (on Austin's channel) to really hear Tim's upper range.
Duly noted - I'll check that out when I have a moment.
You are very welcome - I really enjoy doing this. :-)
That's a very good point. I didn't pick up on that.
That is on my (admittedly very long) list, and I was told to leave it until after Mayday (I think I can guess why), so looking forward to it. :-)
I think you will like the original by Cam. It gives you context for the version Home Free does. Wonderful job by both bands! Thanks for a great analysis.
I've listened to it since, and it's a great song. I also really appreciate HF's treatment of it, now that I know what they were working from.
This is so very awesome! Tim was amazing as was Chance. They all were awesome! Let us not forget Adam Rupp the beat boxer who was very awesome as well! Love your reaction!
100% - couldn't agree more. Thank you so much - glad you enjoyed!
Great Reaction! Tim,Austin and Rob are sing in the same octave that Cam sang this song.
Thank you! Yes, I caught that after the fact when I listened to the original - that was a great choice.
If you is interested in the video editing you should see Home Frees version of "Meet In The Middle"
They did the recording their self in the lock down, on their phone and fantastic put together to a master piece.
I have it as one to check out at some point for sure. :-)
Thank you very much for reacting to this song. The first time I heard Tim doing this song I had the same reaction. All of the guys are amazing. I think you will enjoy Cam's rendition. It does look different but with the same kind of emotion.
You are most welcome. I'm not surprised to hear anyone get caught off guard by Tim, and have enjoyed watching a few reactions to this since for just that purpose. :-)
I, personally, think Home Free really bring out the emotion in the song, much more than Cam's version. I've listened to hers with the video which I found to be distracting from the meat of the song. And, months later, to just the audio to see how it was without the visuals. I missed the emotion that Home Free brings AND the clarity of the lyrics.
This is one if my favs from Home Free.
LOL…it’s was for to see your face when Tim does the lead in this key 🙃❤️‼️🫶🏼
Yeah, that definitely caught me off guard!
Yay I am so glad you got a chance to hear this!!! I love their version of this song sooo much!!
It is truly fantastic.
Oh!!! Happy dance. Writing before I even watch. See you at the end :)
Hope you enjoyed!
Gosh this song is powerful. And they do one heck of a job covering it. Thanks for another awesome reaction!
Right? I really love this one. You're welcome, and as always, thanks for watching and supporting. :-)
I like the way you comment over the video without constantly pausing. You are giving us your thoughts as it plays on. Thankyou for that!
You're welcome. I find it definitely helps my analysis section to have seen it through uninterrupted - that way I understand the flow better. I'm glad you enjoyed.
That was wonderful, I thoroughly enjoyed it and your analysis. Although I knew they had great voices, I have till recently, not listened to HF much, because they predominantly cover country music which is simply not a genre I enjoy. Thanks to you and a few comments from others I've been dipping my toes into HF a little more and am so glad not to have missed this beautiful little gem! 🙂👍
Thank you so much! I'm glad that you're enjoying some of their work. I have nothing against country, but also wouldn't call myself a fan - I do enjoy HF's work though, as I think they're more than country, even if country is one of their foundations.
Such an insightful analysis! I enjoyed it tremendously, thank you! 😺
Thank you very much indeed.
If you are interested in how this video was shot, Home Free has released some videos called from the vault with behind the scenes video and information. They have a video showing how Mayday was filmed snd the special effects used such as pointing a light at the video camera while filming.
Thanks for the tip! I've seen those, but haven't got around to watching any yet. I should do that.
One thing I've noticed is the almost inward-focused-blissful look on Chance's face whenever he's carrying the bass line for a song.
I am an unabashed Pentaholic and VoicePlay fan, and while I admire Home Free's talents (they fully deserve to rank co-equal at the top of the a capella world , imo), my 'meh' feelings for most country music means I don't listen to them with quite as much frequency as the other two groups. That said, this song is just so damn gorgeous that, even apart from the "musical chairs" aspect, it's top of the list of their watchable videos for me.
The original by Cam is just as gorgeous, and the video is amazing. I had to go watch it to see what changes they made, and to be frank, they stayed really true to the original music, with some added vocal flourishes here and there. Her video, I have to add, makes me cry.
I watch your videos religiously, as you ALWAYS bring stuff to my attention that simply never made it above the threshold of my ability to notice overtly, while still affecting my overall gut reactions to the videos. Thanks! (I can't WAIT for you to get to the new one by VP, "Seven Nation Army.")
One of the great things about the groups that I have picked up is that they all do something that anyone can appreciate, and that's very cool. I haven't checked out the original Cam video yet - toying with saving it for a future reaction - but I'm looking forward to it either way.
Thank you for watching my videos - I'm very glad to hear that you get so much out of them. :-) I will get to 7NA in due course - I've been flitting between newer and older videos recently, but that one is right in the top tier of my intended reactions.
I prefer HF'S version to Cam's. I also liked that HF did not copy any of Cam's video. She had an interesting Amelia Earnhart-type storyline, which I did like. And your reaction to Tim and Chance switching things around was perfect!
I enjoy both, though I confess it's hard not to be partial to HF, partly because of how well it's done, but also now that I think about it, I did see and hear it first, and I think that's an influence also. Cam's is a superb performance and video too.
Appreciate your reaction
Thank you.
Whow 😳 that was a fantastic analysis.. I am super impressed. Thank you so much, I will never watch the video the same way again ❤
Thank you so much! I'm glad I could bring some new thoughts and insights to you. :-)
Great 👍 reaction. Good you waited.❤️🤠 HF
the band has 4 tenors counting Adam Rupp's rare non percussion appearances. it has 2 bass vocalists, three baritones and 5 beat boxers.
An incredible fact for a group of five people, but yes, I agree. Such versatile talent.
Team Chance!! ❤
He is amazing in this.
You picked up on Tim right away! ❤ not many people do lol
I think I recognised his vocal nuances well enough that even high up I could tell, but I'm not surprised people don't think it's him at first.
@@davidkreacts ❤️
Just wanted to note that HF is singing this in Cam's original key.
I listened to the original shortly after this came out and caught that - an excellent choice, and an admirable one.
This was lovely! Really enjoy your analyses, gives me such a deeper appreciation for the deliberate intent behind their creative choices.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you get something out of them. :-)
You've had a lot of good comments already - I second the recommendations to look up the From the Vault videos if you're doing a song from 2016-2018 (they're the Patreon behind the scenes from the time, and they're releasing them pretty much in date order, so that's how far they've got) and for the Stargazer Trilogy, the third part of which is coming out very soon.
When it comes to the country thing - Home Free started as a standard modern acapella group, doing a range of pop etc, but they auditioned for the Sing-Off with a couple of country songs, they had Tim and Austin by that point, and after a serious debate, they agreed to be billed as the "country" group, and so they have been ever since. They'll put a country spin on a pop song, cover a country classic, or even go outside the genre from time to time, but as you say, country is now their home base.
Appreciate the reinforcement for the recommendations. Will be checking out the From the Vaults - I am very interested to see their processes etc. - and the Stargazer Trilogy is now on my list also.
It seems like a shame that they had to get pigeonholed with a category when they are clearly so versatile, but at the same time the country vibe does set them apart from the other major groups, and they certainly do it well!
Great reaction...and YES you should listen to Cam's original. Notice that Home Free does this in the same key as Cam!
Thank you! I actually haven't listened yet in case I decide to react to it, but I'm looking forward to it.
At 7, … you haven’t even begun to scratch the surface!
There is so much to this arrangement. I'm still hearing new things now!
Wonderful reaction. Thank you!
Yes...we veteran Home Fries always ask reactors to, "...wait until you get used to each singer's niche, before you react to 'Mayday'." Even we, as "well-seasoned veterans" were TOTALLY blown away, the first time we heard it. 😀
Yup...there you go, right away, with Tim. You now need to listen to "Greensleeves," with Peter Hollens and Tim. They BOTH have fabulous ranges, and they go up and down the scale so EASILY throughout the song--especially in one part, where Tim will really grab your attention, as she just floats upward...seriously.
Regarding the group's vocal range overlaps. In 2019, I made a chart. I can't link to it here, because my whole comment might disappear, but I'll tell you where to find it. Go to my channel and then to the ABOUT page. Then look down to the Links category. The third link (which gets used a lot) goes to that chart, where it's nested on my site. Enjoy. \0/
Interesting. Thanks Linda.
Great Reaction! Exceptional cover.
Now that you've heard some of Tim's tenor register, you might want to check out his solo Doo Wop work. He has UA-cam videos for four of the songs on his album: Come Go With Me; Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay; In My Room; and Since I Don't Have You. All the other songs on the album are definitely worth audio only reactions.
Duly noted - thank you. I love Come Go With Me, assuming that's the Del-Vikings song, and I'm a fan of doo-wop, so will check them out at some point for sure.
Very interesting. I wondered what you would choose to talk about. Enjoyed it a lot. Everytime I listen to this song I hear something I missed before. So much to discover.
Thank you - I'm glad I could bring something new to the table for you. :-)
Great cover, I shared your reactions to Tim singing high. I love the way you break down the videography and the singing together ❤
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed my style of analysis. :-)
I would highly recommend any/all of the bass/bari led songs -
In The Blood
Woman/Amen - Female
What We ain't Got
Brothers In Arms
If you've done any of these and I missed it, apologies.
Another informative and fun reaction, thanks
I appreciate the reactions. I haven't done them yet, but they are on my list to cover - it's just a very long list at this point!
Snow Globe shows his high range too. It’s so stinking cute!
Noted - not on my list, so I've added it.
Great analysis of both the song and the video! Looking forward to more HF.. maybe Helplessly Hoping or Can’t Outrun You.
Thank you! I have both of those very high up my list, so I'm sure one will be appearing shortly.
I always felt they were isolating Austin from the others while he's repeating Mayday to show the loneliness the writer of the song was feeling.
An excellent observation, and I can get behind that for sure.
If you listen very carefully you can hear Adam Rupp doing a swoosh sound just before Chance´s low note, and that helps increasing the contrast imo
Agreed. So many small details in this arrangement.
Chance sang bass in his former group STREET CORNER SYMPHONY. He has almost as big of a range as Tim’s 5 octave so he can go real high too
I have them down as a group to check out at some point, for sure. I'm beginning to learn Chance's range, and I'm loving it.
Love it! ❤
Thank you!
You should react to Brother for some laughs and Brothers in Arms for a serious Memorial Day song. Love your reactions!
I believe this was in the same key Cam sang it in!
It appears it was. I haven't listened to the original yet in case I choose to react to it, but I will do one way or another.
The band actually didn't start as country. They moved more toward country, I believe, after Austin joined them. I generally am not a big fan of country music, but I have to say, when *they sing country songs, I like the genre a little more. I'm very pleased they do so such a variety of genres, and I love listening to your intelligent reactions. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with the world!
This song is one that Tim and Chance change up. These guys have done a phenomenal job. Of course, I'm a die hard Home Fry.❤️❤️❤️❤️
When you go to listen to the original, you should also listen to her song Burning House! It’s really beautiful and one of my favorites to sing.
Have you heard Tim singing Burning House with Jenika at one of the Birthday Bashes? I agree it's a beautiful song, and they do a great job with it as well.
I have since listened to Mayday, but not Burning House - I will check it out.
For more of Chance's low register, check out his solo channel (Adam Chance) Wayfaring Stranger with The Hound and the Fox.
I have that on my list to check out - looking forward to it. Love hearing Chance sing like this.
I know I'm late here but from what I've read Tim started as a tenor in school before his voice changed and went toward bass. He was still able to do the tenor parts which is rare for any bass.
Absolutely! My voice stayed in tenor range for a long time and I'm now a baritenor with a bass leaning, but I certainly couldn't sing the tenor notes he reaches. Mad respect.
Great reaction, David! This is such a great song. I'd love to see your reaction to Dan Vasc singing Amazing Grace. The most powerful and moving version I've ever heard.
Thank you! Appreciate the recommendation too - I'll add that to my list.
It should be "HIGH, Tim!" and "Hel-LOW, Chance!" ;)
Haha!
This song comes under the heading of expect the unexpected.
I would agree!
This was sung in Cam’s original keys he sung it in.
Which is astonishing and awesome. So glad it fits his vocal range so well.
Love this cover by HF. They have really grown on my these past months, even if my heart belongs to VP first. HF is coming to Sweden in September and I've bought my ticket already. Can't miss out on the chance to see any favourite artist live and VP aren't likely to tour for a while.
Sorry, can't get around PTX still. Had to give up on your video last week third way in. Not even your analysis could make me like that song.
This on the other hand is beautiful. Tim's bass is good, but I like to hear Chance given a possibility to shine down there.
But I long for you to get back to VP or Tommy J, both of them have released such good music lately.
This was done in Cam's original key. Glad you waited and got the surprise. Thanks, David. I think you would enjoy the Chance lead I Can't Outrun You. He also directed the video for it, it's right up your ally.
Have fun at the concert.
Ooh - seeing HF is exciting! I look forward to hearing about that come the autumn.
Perfectly fair re PTX - they're definitely not everyone's cup of tea.
I agree on letting Chance drop down - it doesn't have to happen often, but I'm glad they showcase it now and then. VP coming soon, and Tommy will be in my non-a capella rotation some time in the next few weeks.
And boy did Chance shine this week.
☠️&🦴🦴🦴
❤
They sing this in the same key as Cam
Indeed - I learned that after releasing when I went to listen to the original - a great choice, I think
I really think you’d like this one
Faouzia - I Fly (with Galantis) (stripped)
It was in the movie Scoob!, but just her voice over a light track, is very refreshing and uplifting.
Noted - thank you for the recommendation. I've added it to my list. :-)

Thanks.
A lot of long time Faouzia fans prefer her stripped versions. She has such an full and interesting voice. Like with acappella groups, with too much instrumentation, we lose the best parts.
you need to watch their cover of Brothers in Arms great from video and vocal !
I have it on the list for sure. So much to get through!
Subscribed after watching your first reaction because I’m a little greedy & like the way you watch first then go back; sometimes I don’t want the interruption; may I make a recommendation that might be off your radar for them- 2 country singers try singing opera-Nessun Dorma featuring Rob & Austin; there is a different quality to their voices-especially Rob’s; compares very favorably to Pavarotti’s version of the aria; you will not be disappointed; thx in advance; stay safe, peace. ❤️❤️🥰🥰☮️☮️
Chris Rupp was replaced by Adam CHANCE, the beatboxer is ADAM Rupp
Indeed.
Chance sang bass in his former group, so he can carry the bass if necessary
This I definitely know now! :-P I'm hoping to check out some SCS at some point.
I like their version better than the original.
I haven't heard it yet to compare - considering a reaction in the future - but I've heard a few folks agree with you.
Austin can make his voice cry with the best of them. Check out I'm Not Supposed to Love You Anymore, Neon Moon, or even Bring Him Home for a couple examples.
Tim's voice didn't drop until late in high school and he deliberately worked to keep his tenor-ability.
Adam is always spot on - never too much. Given his abilities, he could easily overpower almost any song, much less a subtle one like this. But he knows where the line is and never oversteps it.
This was a chance to show off both Tim's high AND Chance's bass, which hadn't really been shown off much before.
By the way, HF sang this in the same key as Cam did.
Agreed with all of the above - particularly the comment about Chance. If you don't sing bass a lot, it's easy to overdo it, and he hit such a great balance here. Thanks for the recommendations - a couple there I hadn't had before, so added to the list. :-)
workin' for a livin' BY HOME FREE
It's on the list. :-)
Tim sang tenor for a long time before his voice changed
While this doesn't surprise me in general (my voice did the same thing), I think I'm surprised just because Tim does what he does and we all know him as a bass. Such a great voice all round.
They sang this in the same key Cam did.
This was the first song the group released after replacing *Chris* with *Chance*
Partly the role swaps, were to show that losing Chris, while not good, was not a total loss.
As Chance's first presentation he wanted to show that he had a reasonable bass...
He failed... That bass isn't reasonable!
Original video has over 6.2 million views! Many are mine. lol😅
I don't blame you! I've added a few as well. ;-)
I like Home Free's cover of "Mayday" better than Cam's original!
Fair. I enjoy them for different reasons, but this is exceptional.
I don't even know why this is a video not audio only if you are going to say everything. You know we can see you right?
I do. If I didn't speak, it wouldn't be much of an analysis.
@@davidkreacts So you are analyzing yourself?
