I just found your channel by finding out Ys vs. Trails in the Sky was a thing and looking up gameplay for it, and now I learn that YS X IS A THING? This is the highlight of my week lol

Also yeah Ys X got unoffically announced back in like june? (they wanted to show it at TGS but it was still too early) and we've just kinda been waiting for falcom's annual stockholder meeting they have every decemember for more info

If you're having problems getting UA-cam to process all your edits, I learned a trick from Internet Historian: run your video in OBS and record it, then upload the recording. I've had to do it a couple times. Keep that in the back of your head for the next time you have problems.
It should of been up much earlier but I over slept so didn't see the news until 6 hours after it was announced and had stuff to do until the early evening

seriously tho same, the felghana port was really out of left field but I dig it and ys X is looking clean
Oath in Felghana is undoubtedly my favorite Ys, I can't wait to play it again even if It's on switch. For Ys X they didn't show too much, but I like how clean the HUD looks
yeah oath is pretty cool, and I've only played it the once where I rushed through it and missed several side quests so it would be nice to go through it again
and yeah the ys X UI looks clean, ys IX did too but it was also very simplistic looking, the vibe of this one is a bit nicer me thinks

@@virhilios3789 tbh considering how simular some of chesters attacks are to adol's spells you could rework him to be a OP timeattack mode where he starts with set gear and all his abilities and the game just tells you to go

Hoping these changes are added to a update for the Steam version of OiF. I love that game (despite how hard it was) and would love to play it again with some new changes.
I think if they do come to steam they'll more than likely have to be via a new port
Art and textures you could probably patch in but the mechanics from the psp release and the new adoln dialogue will likely be stuck on the new build

Having not known about Ys until I got a modded PSP and played Ys 7, I've been hooked ever since. And seeing Oath in Felghana getting a remaster is amazing. But I literally just found out about Ys X just now. I'm seriously looking forward to it, seeing as 3, 7 and 9 are my favorite titles, and I'm slowly making my way through Lacrimosa of Dana.

Haha I'm glad you enjoying them, trails is my prefered falcom series but ys is super cool too, my personal favourites are origin oath and 8 but I have soft spots for ys1 and celceta aswell
I hope you enjoy lacrimosa of dana, it starts off a bit slow but once you get over that mountain (both figuratively and literally). The game really opens up

I would love if they additionally rereleased Chronicles 1&2 on the switch. It’d be great to have all the early Ys titles on one portable platform.
Falcom did say they had several other ports coming soonish
They are already all fully playable on the Steam Deck portable. I have all the y's pc games on my steam deck and I have been playing them all. They all play great on Steam Deck
I loved Ys since I saw the anime and got a preview of Ys 4 Dawn of Ys. For the longest time I thought it was an anime. Then recently I found out it was a game, didn’t realize how big the series was. I just ordered celcetia, 8 and 9. Was thinking about getting the Oath in Felghana for psp, but after seeing this I think I’m going to wait for the updated version and get 10 as well

Just finished ys 9 and totally in love with it. A bit sad that ys 10 is not about his future adventure, but still can’t wait for it. Haven’t play Ys 5 yet cuz no official release, so looking forward to it as well.

at the end of the day they're all just him tripping into some 500 year prophercy or something it wouldn't change much

Wouldn't surprise me if the remaster is a Switch exclusive, since Falcom are getting diminishing sales on Sonys console, with the Japanese market being dominated by Switch.
YS10 is actually the first YS game that's being made in house for the Switch, instead of out sourcing it.
possibly but even if falcom don't want to release it for more than switch I can't imagine nisa not wanting to port it to pc and ps4
if its xseed then we have like a 50/50 coin flip on getting just a PC port but idk they seem done with falcom these days full stop
I am so glad I did not hunt down Oath in Felghana for the PSP since getting the other two PSP remasters hit my wallet hard. Really looking forward to seeing the characters in Ys X, the cast always makes these games special.
Oh yeah with falcoms rising popularity those games are only getting more pricy too

I'm already liking the YS X and Remastered YS Oath of Felghana Memoir. But I really like to see Remastered versions of YS SEVEN, YS ARK of Napishtim and YS1&2 Chronicles.
Falcom actually announced a few days after this video that there will be 2 more "refined" releases in the near future, my prediction/hopes is that they will be:
-ark of napishtim with full redubbed VO (since konami own both the ENG and JP dubs of the PS2 and PSP versions) and possibly a few tweeks to make it feel more like Oath and Origin
-and a fully dubbed version of Ys Seven with stuff like flash move from the later party games intergated in
@@Kraftium now that definitely is what I want to see very often for sure. Let's just say that I seriously can't stop playing YS series especially: Ys VI - Ys Seven - Ys 1&2 which to this day I always start a new game and beat it to the end and rinse and repeat, that much I lo e to play Ys series very often. Man I love the series.

I fuckin loved Oath in Felghana when I 1st played it on PC it's still my 3rd fav Ys game so I wouldn't mind replaying it again
While Ys X looks really good already from those screenshots tho with the whole combination mode I'm thinking it could also work like Astral Chain which would be a very interesting combat system
yeah i'm down for another oath playthrough, my original run was after the voice acting mod stopped working but before xseed added it natively too, so playing it fully voice acted would be very cool amongst the other additions
I feel like the combination mode is not gonna feel that much different in feel, kinda like how they pair up in warriors all stars
@@Kraftium ah i played it when Xseed added the VA in the game (i wonder if they will keep the same VA's for everyone)
and yeah it's probably that combination mode might not feel different but we shall see (also i've never played Warriors All Stars i don't know how it's like there tho i should play it someday)
I gotta address this real quick, because I remember there never being fall damage in Ys 3 PSP. Like, the game wasn't exactly penalizing with any of the falls like that. So that being an option is very weird....especially since alot of the areas you HAD to fall into to progress.
Apart from that: I AM EXCITED!!!! Ys X on the horizon and an upscale of Ys 3 which, I HOPE they redid the dubbed lines to a T.
Might buy YsX for switch instead of PS4 cause there not a lot of space on my PS4 plus I'm planning on buying granblue fantasy relink. I'm surprised that they announced a new Ys game, Ys 9 came out early last year in the west guess they were working on this on the side. I'm willing to wait for YsX to be localized just hope they don't cut content or butcher it.
Falcom are pretty consistent at getting out 1 major game a year in japan and they have a really good work pipeline to make sure it works constantly, kurp 1 and 2 for example share tons of assets and therefore they can transfer devs from each project they work on pretty seemlessly
I'm actually curious how the new engine will look and run on switch, since the Ys9 port on switch was ROUGH but kuro seems like it was doing alot more compared to trails into reverie whilest also running better, atleast what I got from the demo (was playing the patched ps4 pro version on a ps5 tho tbf)
Careful though, ys 9 already had problems on switch, if they improve the graphics even more it might be a nightmare on switch
Out of curiosity which Ys games would you say are the best to play based on narrative, after 8?
well 8 is definately the clear winner, 7's is pretty good too but very slow and drawn out especially in the first act
Oath in Felghana is popular with a fair few people, its nothing fancy but its pretty good I'm not a fan of how Elena is on the box art and has plenty of reason to be a main character with her background but does nothing in the entire game from start to finish, she's just there
Ys Origin and Ys 6: Ark of Napishtim both have pretty good stories but both are also great "LORE" games origin has ties to 1 and 2 and even a few to 4 (celceta) and ark has ties to every game that came before and its the centerpiece of all of Ys lore especially since the remakes like felghana and celceta add stuff to link it. I had a pepe silvia moment playing ys 6

I started with 8 and while I really enjoyed it I was super confused whenever they would reference past events so I want to try a few of the older titles before going onto ys ix and waiting for the ys x localization
@@lratio1848 most of the time Ys referencing old games is normally just a nod, its like "oh adol knows a poet?" and then you play ys 1 and 2 and you're like "oh yeah he does know a poet" and it doesn't really go further than that
Ys 9 is kinda like a love letter to old ys games with bosses from various titles showing up remade in full 3D and its like "YOOOO ITS THAT BAT FUCKER FROM YS1" so playing some more before that is probably for the best
i'm sad that the Felghana port is only for switch :( well, at least i already beat it on pc
tis a bit odd I will admit, if its in house at falcom I can see it being more of a testing ground if anything since their dev's don't have much experience working on the switch
When this re-release of Felghana gets localized, all I hope is it may get a new port to PC as a primary PC player
It would be nice, tbf the PC port isn't missing much from the PSP version now only the nicer UI (which is getting redone) and the burst or whatever its called (the super attack you get during boost mode thats also in Ys Origin)
I really think it comes down to who gets it xseed or nisa and that comes down to if it gets re translated or not

Yes but it would be nice to have some of the new bells and whistles of this upcoming Switch port to play on PC and updating the old port may not be viable so a new port would probably be easier.
I do like how they finally upgraded thr character models in ys x. I've been saying for years that Falcom needed to put more budget into the series and give it an overhaul with triple A graphics
I hope we get Oath soon, I just got that for my psp. Very excited for X as well. It looks amazing so far, such an awesome series. I only fairly recently got into Ys but I’m so glad I did. It’s quickly becoming my favorite series. I put down tears of the kingdom to play Ys VIII and that says a lot because I’m a big Zelda fan, not so much of the two latest games though.
eyyyyy glad you're enjoying it, sadly oath is still up in the air, only thing I can base it off is how long it too for celceta's PS4 port to get offically brought over and despite already being translated it took like a year and a half so I can see oath maybe being mid 2024 if XSEED do, do it. If you like Ys8 and 9 I highly recommend falcom's trails series since it was around 8 where they started intergrating elements from those games like having a wide cast of interesting NPCs and alot more world building
I know what you mean about the newest zeldas, I thought breath of the wild was a breath of fresh air from the forumla that had been going since LttP/OoT and really enjoyed it but I don't think we needed another one right after, personally all my favs are the 2d top down ones and I hate to think they're never coming back
@@Kraftium Thanks I hope we get oath eventually. I’ve been looking into the Trails series, it looks really good too. I actually just ordered a steam deck just so I could get those games (and other hard to find rpg’s). I think I’ll start with Trails in the sky and do that trilogy first. That seems like a good place to start, yeah?
Zelda definitely needed a change up after skyward sword and I did enjoy botw. But totk is too similar and I miss the classic elements like sprawling, interconnected dungeons, memorable music and more linear storytelling. I just hope we get a new 2d Zelda soon if they are going to leave my favorite elements out of the 3d titles.
@@7milesdavis if worst comes to worst all the ys games barring 5 are on steam and the stuff you'd be missing from oath isn't anything super substansial
and year trails in the sky is the way to go, first in the trails series so no problems on spoiling stuffs and its also the best arc in the series for characters imo (sky 3rd is my joint top game of all time) tho the trilogy can feel a little old for some and the first game a little slow to others
if and when you do pick it up I recommend tracking down the "evo voice mod" for it, the original only have voice acting for battle grunts and victory quotes but the JP exclusive vita port had full voice acting for all the main story scenes and its fairly easily ported back into the PC version

YS should stay a fast paced action rpg adventure instead of going into an genre identity crisis like Tales and Final Fantasy. I like the arcade feel of the Ys series. Low learning curve and hard to master is the way to go. Even kids can have fun playing a YS games eithers for the gameplay, the characters, the story or the music. A lot more replayable then the other slower paced games that doesn't know if they want to be turn based, soul like, open world, a visual novel, a dating sim, a walking simulator or having a tons of stats and cumbersome system.
I really don't think you have anything to worry about, you gotta remember kondo said that kuro's battle system would be like FF7R's and ... i mean its just trails with some tweeks
they're just toning it's "hyper" feel that 8 and 9 were starting to have a bit too much of, I don't think Ys is having an identity crisis its just they took the party system to 11 and they're refreshing it

modern audiences are not ready for bump combat
tho since the switch is based off the tegra X1 chipset it could technically run the android ports of ys 1 and 2 natively lol

I LOVE YS!
A friend of mine recommended Ys 8, I had never heard about Ys before. And OMG. It hooked me. The feeling of hearing "Sunshine Coastline", it sent shivers down my whole body and I just knew: That is going to be an adventure I won't forget.
And a few months later, THEY BROUGHT A COOP MODE AS A PATCH FOR PC! And i played that with my Sister and it was fantastic. Not perfect but FANTASTIC!
Ys 9 blew it out of the park as well, same with the Coop Mode which was EVEN BETTER!
At the moment I am playing Ys: Memories of Celceta, and I am enjoying it as well! :D
Ys Origin was amazing and I am going to play ALL OF THEM.
And of course I am going to play Ys X!

8 celceta and origin are my 3 favourites and bump combat may be dated af but adol feels like an unstoppable force once you get used to it
Big recommend nayuta boundless trails when it finally gets translated later this year its got alot of various falcom games dna with origin style combat (got a review of the psp version if your interested, ill warn you it was my second vid so its kinda rough)

the other available OSTs are all falcom made but the genesis port was probably done 3rd party like most falcom ports
Maybe it's a bit random, but title of this game instantly reminded me of that one interview where they said that if they were to make a (back then still theoretical) Ys X, Adol would probably be an old man, maybe travelling with a disciple. Then I saw the screenshots and I was like "Whuh? Why is Adol still young?".
Maybe it's just GoW frying my remaining braincells, but idea of an old man and a disciple travelling through vast land does sound like a good choice for a nordic setting. _(´ཀ`」∠)-
I mean we do know adol's final adventure where his travel logs finally end is when he's in his 60s or something when he goes to the north pole where he supposedly dies (might have his age wrong)

Likely this game is meant to act as a setup for Ys 11 when Adol will likely head to Britai. And given Adol's previous patterns of games the new game on the engine will be followed by a remake of an older game(Ys 5) with another new game coming after that remake.
You are correct. Adol was said to be 63 when he supposedly died on his journey to find the north pole.

Ys X will most definately be done by NISA it doesn't make sense for japan to make a game with a sizable budget like this with no plans to localise it in this day and age. as for when? probably within about 12-24 months after its japanese release, we'll sadly always be behind japan due to their localisation licencing policies but we are catching up
as for the Ys oath in felghana remaster/switch port ... I can't say since its a bit of a licencing pickle. Xseed did the original PSP and PC translation of the game and still have they're script available to just ... transfer over to the new port. thing is I'm not sure if they've washed their hands of falcom entirely or not, they did admitily do the memories of celceta ps4 remaster with their vita script but it took them over a year to do that when that was basically just a straight port

probably not, I don't think any of the ys games have had co-op barring the weird janky ones added in ys8 and 9 as a half-joke

@@another1118 the camera in the jank ys8 and 9 co op does try to keep player 2 in shot but its still focused on player 1
I think you're also a tad unware how much goes into making good functioning co op/split screen
For starters the game has to be built with it in mind, otherwise you get something like durante's implimentation with the PC versions at BEST
the other problem is the preformance cost, to do splitscreen you esentially have to render the game twice
co op is cool and more devs should do it but falcom's size really means they're not the people who can really tackle it
Like with Zelda and Wonder Boy that franchise is mostly though as a single player one.
Of course I wouldn't mind multiplayer if it's for a spin-off (like Ys vs Kiseki).

I want boat combat to be incredibly hard so I can be like "no wonder adol always crashes"
Ys X shows so many red flags for me on conceptual level... Mention of Dark Souls combat is a clear negative to me and I remember enjoying Assassin's Creed games without ships more than those with, I had to browse internet during ship sections to contain boredom. I suspect it might be village defense/Nox of Ys X, a filler that I want to get over with ASAP.
If it doesn't include the bump system I'm not buying
I mean YsCelceta-9 all had an artifact that made you deal damage when sprinting (7 too maybe?) so they've technically kept bump combat in throughout the series

I liked Ys9 but it very much isn't a style I'd want them to do again
urban exploration was some of the best ive seen of that type, (i think falcom id a really good job of filling the city with a good amount of maguffins, enough to always have something to look for but not too much it was like the feathers from assassin's creed) but its also very not-Ys a fun departure but yeah not what I want from the series
