This watch was my high school graduation present from my parents in 2016. At the time I felt like I was a watch guy and looked at and aspired too many watches and other “nice things” in the years sense. Through my time as a broke college student, then a broke flight student, I never could dream of dropping even 500$ on another watch, so this was it. Been through loves and hardships together. Now, almost ten years in, I don’t feel like another watch is on my radar. There are others I like (Zulu time) but these days, I could hardly imagine having anything else. I feel I’ve learned in this time, that having one nice thing, that you truly care about, really is better than a stable full of the best the best.
True. It's important to learn how to take care of something so that it lasts a long time. I find it strange to see some people buy expensive watches, and then don't take care of them, so that they are all scratched up. Why buy an expensive watch if you are not going to take care of it?
Basically what I'm hearing is that you want a solid 18k GMT Master II on a Jubilee?
I’m so glad you FINALLY reviewed this watch! I bought this a few months back. Absolutely love it! Can wear in a variety of ways. Very quality watch
I just picked this up about two weeks ago. It has been running about 2 to 4 seconds fast each day. Was going to buy off Teddy's website but my AD gave my discount for being a first responder.
I've had mine for about 5 months now and love it. In fact, hardly ever leaves my wrist!
Same!
same :)
I bought an earlier version of this watch 2 years ago with a beige dial on brown leather strap with a two pin buckle, before it got the newer movement (so without the 80 power reserve). My only criticism is relatively weak lume, but that is not a big issue for me. I put a Nato strap on it and it's one of my favorites to wear.
What is the movement and caliber of this model?
Love this watch. I bought and sold the 42mm, brilliant piece but it was slightly bigger than I'd have liked. Now on the hunt for a 38mm.
Wow, I just my field Auto 42 mm today. It is awsome, thank you for the in-depth review. Also just bought some tools and straps for you site. Thanks again.
Really great review packed with details - great job👍
I really like this guy. I've watched about 4-5 of his videos and would have never believed someone talking about watches would keep me captivated! I'm almost there on buying a timepiece.....
I have had the the same watch in a 42mm case for over a year now and love it. It’s the number one most worn watch in my collection for sure.
Picked this exact one up last November, my first AUTOMATIC! Love it and got a bunch of straps for it. I do NEED a Teddy strap for it soon. ;)
This is also available in 40mm and 42mm. I've got the same one in 42mm! Love it.
This is a great intro to proper watchmaking - my wife bought me one many years ago when we first started dating, and it's held up well, has it's own charm and identity. It's clearly a Hamilton, and it goes with almost anything - right now I've got mine on a bund (dog ate the original strap) and is the watch I've travelled with the most.
My Khaki King is the most accurate of all my automatics...! 1 second fast per 24 hours... Amazing accuracy... This 38mm version here the Khaki Field is a fantastic watch, that can be very comfortable, even if you are out in the field hunting or fishing in winter, as it is not going to interfere with your clothing as would larger watches... Prefer this size watch when actually using a watch for field use... For me this is the watch, all things considered...!
I have this watch and loveeee ittt ! I just ordered a black strap with white stitching.. very elegant yet simple beautiful watch.
I have underestimated HAMILTON for years (15 or 20) . Today i am a fan of your chanel for one and a half year. Day after day, i have changed my mind and i would be very happy to by an HAMILTON watch . It is GREAT that we could found in 2023 quality watches, Automatic for only 500 $. Ten years ago i have tried to find the cheaper automatic swiss watches. I have only found ORIS and VICTORINOX with automatic ETA mouvement. The watches cost almost 1000 $. Your videos are treasures . Thank you for all TEDDY.
Just ordered this watch from your website. The bracelet version, and ordered a tan leather strap using the promo. Thanks
A suggestion for your future video. You should pair it with other straps and take it to different lighting conditions(i.e outdoor) if you can.
Awesome review Teddy!
Great watch. Bought this model last Christmas as a present to myself.
I Bought Field King for my 2020 birthday, wearing it more than any other watch since! Later I discovered that House MD was wearing one too. The cool factor grew even bigger after that discovery!
Liam neeson also wears one also
Just got to try on this watch in person. Freakin gorgeous!
Great review Teddy. Have the 42mm on a bracelet , and love it.
Hey Teddy, you convinced me. After viewing your review, I went to my local jewelers to get this one in my roster (I'm trying to buy "local" in these difficult times with the COVID-19 Pandemic).
They had both the 38mm and 42mm and I must say, I felt the 42mm had better legibility and was better suited to my wrist. On top of that, it pops out with the combined brushed and polished edges and bezel. Love this watch! It's staying on my wrist for a while for sure (sorry to my other watches who won't be getting any wrist time 😉)
Thanks again for sharing.
How long is your wrist sir? Mine is 7 inches, which size do you think is better?
@@tunglethanh8998 - My wrist is also 7 inches. I bought the 42 mm diameter version because I like larger watches and also it fits perfectly in my opinion.
Is it still on your wrist?
@@DavidUKesb - Oh yes, still tickin' away along side my "Murph"
This is my daily watch. Absolutely love it. Green dial. Fabulous.
Just ordered this. Very excited !
Hi, Teddy, (I know thos comment is a bit sad 🤣) but:
Just wanted to share because you kick-started my interest in watches, in march this year I started my collection with a Hamilton green khaki officer, 3 months later I was toying with the idea of a 2nd watch that was a bit dressier and fancied the Tissot Gentleman automatic in blue without cross hairs but I still like the field style so yesterday I went with the Seiko Alpinist in green with brown crocodile strap, not as dressy as the Gentleman but I think it's a beautiful watch and I feel special when I wear it.
Thanks for the inspiration ⌚👍
Just ordered the Hamilton khaki field. Thanks for the info Teddy! I’m a musician and my band just made our second vinyl album. The grooves on this watch look like grooves on a vinyl album and I didn’t notice this til after I ordered the watch. Think it’s a sign?
Ordered one, what a great watch. Thanks for the review.
A watch that just works and looks great on any assortment the Nato straps I have. I have the 42mm, and I love it. A perfect holiday watch - not too expensive, not a 'come and mug me' watch, yet pure class and any watch fans you meet, will agree that it is THE field watch to get. Great video Teddy, as always.
How long is your wrist sir? I’m having trouble with picking size. My wrist is about 7 inches
@@tunglethanh8998 Mine is about 6 I think without measuring it. If it helps, I can wrap my other hand around it and touch index finger to thumb. I do have little girl wrists!
I bought one of these a couple years ago. This is the best watch I have ever owned.
love the khaki field and plan on re-buying one in the near future. Not sure if mine was defective or if i over wound the crown but the rotor started to helicopter every now and then, leading me to return the watch all together
Been saving up for this watch. Thank you for the review. All the more I want it!
Did yo get it? How is it?
We need reviews of some of the jazzmasters available on your online store
Thanks Teddy. Another great, content rich review. It just occurred to me that one of the reasons I’m drawn to watch reviews of watches I already have is that it rekindles my love for that piece. I hadn’t worn my Khaki Field automatic for a while (I’ve been fancying my new Sinn 556 iB) but I’m just loving having it back on my wrist and appreciating it like I did when I first got it. Thanks for that!!
This was my first swiss automatic and i love it
i have this. it's great. only problem is the lack of AR coating leading to overly reflective crystal.
Wow just noticed they've changed the dial slightly on these newer models! There's now 2 hash marks (rather than 4) in-between each larger hash mark, probably to account for the slower beat rate. Great review by the way, Still one of my favorite watches.
Good catch! 3 divisions per marker makes more sense with a 3 Hz movement compared to 5 divisions with a 4 Hz movement. It looks cleaner too.
Did they change the reference code too?
Just ordered one. Thanks!
This is such a great every day "entry-level" watch when getting into mechanical watches. It's such a strap monster, great sizing, and the different textures/sections of the dial create interest. It is my favorite of all the Hamilton Khaki variants, including over the hand-wind mechanical offerings & the Khaki Field King. That 100m WR is the cherry on top over some of the other 50m models. Great review, showing what I wanted to know as well. Thanks for including the lume shot. The only competitor I see is the Seiko Alpinist line, but they are unfortunately a bit high. I know they can be had for under MSRP, but still probably not quite this low. I also like that they have this in a bigger size for those with bigger wrists.
Just curious have you gone deeper than 164 ft. Always wondered why people need more than 50 meters water resistant. When they never even come close to half that depth.
@@airjosh1084 unfortunately, the 50 or 100 meters category is a bit confusing. I was confused about this as well when I first got into watches. Its an important distinction to make sure you take proper care and use of your watch.
it doesn't actually mean that you can go down diving to that depth. 50 M or 5 ATM/BAR is Wearable around sinks, during swimming, athletic sports, in shallow waters, but not while snorkeling or scuba diving.
While 100 M or 10 ATM/BAR is
Wearable around sinks, during swimming, poolside diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, but not while scuba diving.
To go down scuba diving you'll need a divers watch with a different rating. ( these are the definitions by
Maybe Teddy already has a good video explaining all this better than I ever could.
What is the movement and caliber of this model?
@@Afonina-Juliya The one in the review video is an H-10 3Hz 80 hours power reserve movement. The Khaki King has an H-40 with the same specifications, but has a day and date.
@@rbetan1160the 100m is perfect for a field watch. Whatever water conditions a soldier may face will be covered by that. Anything more requires going to a deeper depth deliberately, which is what a dedicated dive watch is for.
I have the 38mm with the steel bracelet and I also bought the brown leather strap from Hamilton. My problem now is trying to decide which one to put on my watch. Both look sharp!
Just ordered mine! Should be arriving in 2-3 weeks 😊
I have been wearing it every day for over 3 years and it is still very accurate! Love it
I own the 42mm version. Amazing watch.
In person, the Leather practically stands out More than the watch itself! It's very thick and quality, it's a very obvious difference from cheaper watches.
I've just picked up one of these and absolutely love it 🥰
Hey Teddy could you do a video on the Merci LMM-001 field/grand pa? I love the design and there is a lack of coverage on youtube. It is also sold out right now unfortunately
Saw one for the first time today. Wow. It’s amazing.
A great daily wearer. I originally bought the 38 mm, but immediately sent it back and replaced it with the 42 mm version as it felt more substantial on my average 7inch wrist. I have owned a classic 16610 Rolex Submariner Date since 2002 and it looks just fine, perhaps because the bezel extends slightly beyond the case diameter, but I felt the more popular Hamilton 38 size was lost on me. Maybe I just like + 40 mm sized cases. It's all in personal preference after all.
Same! Glad I tested one in store, the 38 was just too small lol 42 Is perfect
I’ve got a 6 inch wrist so the 38 is a must for me.
Teddy, great video. Although I'm quite certain that the H-10 is based not on the C07.111 movement, but the C07.611 caliber, as there is no synthetic escapement in the H-10 movement.
Exactly, C07.611 has 25 jewels (C07.111 has 23 jewels) and it is clearly visible here in the video that on H10 is written 25 jewels. What is interesting, all reviews across the Internet are repeating the same mistake. :D
Nice watch. I am curious, are you going to review the Khaki King Auto as well?
Great everyday watch, my only complaint is the weak ass lume
Nice video and nice watch! For a 15,9cm wrists don’t you need to make an extra hole in the original strap?
Just one nitpick... the H-10 movement is actually an ETA C07.611. It differs from the C07.111 (Tissot/Certina Powermatic 80) in that it has a traditional jeweled escapement as opposed to the synthetic (plastic) escapement, and thus has 25 jewels, not 23.
I made a point to get the older version of the Khaki Field Auto with the 2824-2 movement. I prefer the smoother 4Hz sweep and easy regulator, and don't really care much about power reserve. I set my watches whenever I put them on anyway.
Great comment! I have heard people criticize these 80 hour PR movements for allegedly cost cutting with plastic parts but that seems to not be applicable to Hamilton.
My only gripe with this watch too. The sweep isn't as smooth as the 2824-2.
as much as I love my Seiko, 6R15's performance is all over places in various positions. Seriously considering between this and Laco for my next purchase
Teddy - Could you please review the Bell & Ross BR05, if you have not already? Thank you.
Bought it. Fantastic value!
Excellent video
Great video, Teddy. I purchased one last week and had a question regarding the strap. I was looking to use a steel band, but the ones I have seen online are either too expensive (OG Hamilton band is $100+) or the alternative bands do not have the curve that would fit this specific watch. Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers!
Check strapcode, the alpinist bracelet is compatible with the Khaki Field Auto
I've been looking into this watch for a year, your making it hard to resist Teddy.
Resist Ivan !!
Damn you, teddy.... Open a store in the EU already!
any viable modifications that can be done to make the movement smoother?
Such perfect specs and I would also recommend to go for the stainless steel bracelet version. Gives the watch much more present.
Would you reccoment the brown or black strap?
I think the Hamilton Khaki has replaced the Seiko (insert model) as the best entry level automatic watch. Seiko’s increased pricing has allowed Hamilton to get more, well deserved, traction. Great vid Teddy!
Totally agree, especially with the current price of the SKX it makes sense to look for a Swiss watch.
Stick to SEIKO from personal experience .
@@richardshiggins704 Why you think Seiko better than Hamilton, any pros ?
I just picked one up for my birthday! Got it at a really good price too! Around $400. My wife wanted to get me a 38mm Omega coaxial but I told her I wasn’t ready to own one yet. Looking forward to using this as my daily driver. Coming from a seiko skx013.
Can you please tell where you got it from at this price?
Yo where’d u buy it
@@usmanrafique5297 did you find it ?
@@miniganguly6072 Nope didn’t find any at this price
No lume check or did I somehow miss it? Thanks for the video good review.
got mine today!
I treated myself to this watch for my a birthday present based on this review. The watch does not disappoint at all. I like its design, its wearability and simplicity. Thank you Teddy.
Teddy what would you recommend

Now I can’t decide whether I want this in black or silver dial or the mechanical version?
Few improvements on this watch after having it for more than 2 years: improve luminescence, double AR coating for Sapphire glass and screw down lock for crown.
I re-bought one of these just yesterday, having owned one previously. I won't be letting this one go.
I've bought and sold this 3 times now, never selling it again as it's a watch I keep going back to.
I have this on the bracelet, all good except the reflections, it has serious glare issues
my first automatic watch, love it
Could you possibly do a review on Xeric, Nubio, The Electriciaz, or Archetype?
Simple and elegant ! Just like me !
Believe me it would be an honor for me to get this watch from you Gyus as a GIFT!
Ive just bought one of these under your advisement. Cost £483 on sale in the Uk
Teddy will you guys offer the 42 mm version of this watch and the one with the bracelet?
How do you feel about The Hamilton Intra-Matic Chronograph H
Yo my man! Great Video as usual, Thanks!! I need your opinion, I will start collecting watches this year and I think about going for this three at first :
Tissot Carson Powermatic 80
Model: T122.407.11.031.00
Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic
Model: H70595593
Seiko Prestige Enamel
Model: SPB045
Let me know your thoughts!! 🙏🏿
Any reasons to pick this or a Murph over the other?
Got the silver dial version of this and I will reccomend this any day of the week. Black dial is even better to be honest. :)
are there any nice watches out there in this price range where they didn't change the beat rate to prolong power life over the smoothness of the seconds sweep?
Beautiful piece
I have the 42mm...love it..
Awesome review! Is it safe for pool swimming? Thanks
100m water resistance, I would not take it swimming.
What straps size should I buy? 18mm or 20mm?
i think this is a great watch. i have the titanium version. i love it!
Will you do a review on ressence watches ?
Amazing quality.
Inflation did hit this watch hard, retails for over $750 in EU now, although it might be possible to get the retailer to apply some discount
I am going to get this one. I have a dress, sport and dive but I do not have a field watch yet.
Love what you do Teddy, great video once again. Personally, I would go with the King Khaki in this price range. I prefer it's shape and overall look. I get the Day Date is not for everyone, but it's a good looking watch.
Always love your videos Teddy. I really want to get the 42 of this watch but I keep getting scared off by the push in crown vs screw down. I have trouble believing that they truly get 100 meters waterproof in a push in crown. Long term owners with lots of water time please convince otherwise!
Lol.. i had a seiko diver. While it can handle water i still take it off when taking ablution for praying .
Just got mine today.
I like Hamilton. I'm looking at an Interstellar. This is a great watch.
What is the different between dial that having SWISS MADE and not? Year different?
I own this watch and the Sinn 104, three times the price and definitely more 'luxurious'. Yet I can't help but feel like if I had to sell one of them it would be the Sinn. This Hamilton, partly owing to its 100m water resistance, is such a versatile and classically styled piece. I love it, even with its obvious shortcomings (lume, lack of AR).
Oh my - you literally read my mind and answered my question! I was deciding between the two. Thanks!
@@altamash198 They can fit more or less the same niche, being a 'do-it-all' watch, but the Sinn has 200m WR and a countdown bezel (which is a neat function). But, in my opinion, a bezel-less watch looks more elegant and versatile (the Hamilton is also lower in height and more light-weight). Depends on what you're in the mood for, I guess. Both are neat watches to have, but I'd recommend not falling for the idea that you 'need' more than the Hamilton.
