Beautiful video, really outstanding photography and narration. I am envious of how you convey so much information so concisely. May I ask, what was that lovely snowy landscape on the water? Nice to see CF straps too, they work extremely well with that Hammy. As for the negatives, yeh I agree there, imagine if they had lumed the numerals nice a thick, OMG that would be amazing. Keep up the good work.
    Cheers,
    T.

So it is definitely waterproof? Just picked up a second hand nearly new for just over €500 amd just jump to the conclusion a watch that retails new for over €800 would definitely be water proof🤷‍♂️

For me, I rarely immediately like a watch right out of the box. But after a week or two I’m completely happy and have them worked into the ‘rotation’. Hamilton makes a beautiful watch and my plan is for a day-date version.

Good points made, I absolutely love mine, but then again field watches are my favourite style of watch. The lack of AR is a bit annoying at the water resistance needed to be better, but other than that. It lives up to the hype in my eyes.

The watch my dad wore in WWII when he fought with the 29th ID in an amphibious invasion of some consequence was a Hamilton of only 17 jewels, 32mm in width, non-hacking, and only somewhat water resistant. The strap wasn’t a seatbelt NATO either-it was an OD canvas strap. It withstood the violence of combat.
And it still runs after nearly 80 years.
    The invasion was Operation Neptune/Overlord.
I would not worry too much about specifications.

Out of the two biggest cons (lack of AR coating and 50m WR) the AR lack of coating doesn't bother me, however I wish it came with with more than 50m of WR so I could comfortably swim with it.
The WR is enough for its purpose though, if I'm trudging through the bush on a long hike and fall in a river, or it starts raining I know it will be fine.

I’m in love with this watch and it’s history and heritage and I’m thinking of getting one but I’m really skeptical when it comes to its crown…I read that it’s really easy to break it while winding it…like because of the fact that they extended their battery to 80 hours this has made the needle inside way smaller hence easier to break it…what do you think? I ordered a khaki mechanical, when i received it i was immediately disappointed by it. The bead blasting is strangely rough almost a pitted finish and you have brushing on random places like the case back and clasp. The whole bracelet felt terrible i don't get why seiko gets flack but this doesn't, i have never had a seiko with this bad of a bracelet even at half the price. I could live with all that but after owning it for a day it already ran 8 seconds fast. I know you shouldn't get a mechanical watch for accuracy but when you spend this much on it you expect it to be better than a cheap seiko, which it wasn't as my past cheap seiko's where all better. This watch had no appeal to me at all so i returned it after a day, something i never done before. Every watch i ever owned i kept for at least a year before selling.

That’s good to hear. I am a fan. The extension can cause the watch to open if the metal is not bent around enough to hold. I found that annoying and had to pry it to get a tighter fit. I agree too, I like diver’s and the utilitarian case and busy printed dial had/ has me contemplating selling, but it’s still here. Good point about needing a long stretch with the watch to go through all the stages. My father’s middle name is also Hamilton so I feel I need a Hamilton in the collection. First and only Hamilton watch I can foresee.

What's the point on having a 100 meters water depth resistance for a field watch? That's not an argument. 99% of the populations will never dive more than 4 meters in their life time. 99,999% will definitly never go over 50m, and if they do... guess what, they will use a DIVE watch. If you just need to go for a swim and you can do that just fine. It's one of those thing you say you have but you will never use.
Like those ultra dive watches... 600 m. Do anyone knows anyone who has been on a dive that deep. No because no one ever passes 150m on regular industrial saturated diving, and if you go more you can, but I think the record is still on 500 something meters. It's just impossible. So what's the point. To drop the watch on the middle of the ocean and pick it up with an ROV an be happy that it's still working?

For me personally is not about actually testing the functionality, it’s more about knowing the watch is capable of doing so. Thank you for watching.

@@SoCalWatchReviews So it's the ROV option! Hehe. You know that maybe many of the 200 meter watches would probably have issues if they were there for long. Anyway nice video and a really nice edition! Congratulations.

I've never understood why these are so popular. Ridiculously long lugs, with crappy AR coating and horrible lume. Not to mention the most boring dial and an ugly dull finishing on the case. 🤢🤮
