He was 57 when he did this concert.................He can still pack the house.!!!!!!!............Im 62 & I grew up loving his music..........He is an EPIC !!!!!!!!!
"Did y'all see how smooth he just stepped on the drums and came in on beat like that....WOW!?"....We all saw it as your eyeballs nearly popped out of your head!
Phill Collins is a world class drummer . He was the drummer for Genesis. When their singer Peter Gabriel left they couldn't find a better singer so Phil just took over vocals
I have to say I've watched so many people react to this live version and by far you are my favorite you watched it you didn't constantly interrupted and you did not interrupt it at the drums (second time)... and you didn't Babble and talk all thread I think you did a really good job reacting
One of the best beat drops in music history!!! Can't get enough of it!!!🎼😊🎼😊🎼😊 Now aren't you glad you listened to this version??? He's one of the most magnificent drummers of all times!!!💜💜💜
The brother also playing a drum kit is the great Chester Thompson who had been with Phil, Genesis and Santana over the years. A joint named "Phil Collins and Chester Thompson Drum Duet" is pretty badass.
I saw this same performance live in Florida on his "First Final Farewell Tour"...simply AMAZING in person...the whole show was fantastic!!!! He ran around stage without seeming to get tired at all...and actually SANG (not synced like many current stars) and he sounds exactly like his albums in person....this is a legend for sure :) *if you aren't doing the drums/singing with him by the end, there's something wrong with you hahaha
This song is all about the slow burn and then a sudden conflagration. That point where he calmly sits down at the drum kit and nearly tears the skins off is just amazing. You are not the first and I doubt the last that won't know Phil is a drummer but indeed he was a drummer in Genesis before he took over the lead singing duties and then his equally successful solo career. The drum crash there just accentuates the emotion of the lyrics.
I'm one of the lucky million or so to see him perform this live on his Farewell tour. I not only heard it with my ears, I FELT it rise from the soles of my feet and blasted into my head. Concerts in my days were always wall to wall people. I saw many groups starting back in the 70's and still going to some today. Life today, in the music world can't even compare to what we've experienced long before you were even a twinkle in your parents eyes.
Scorpie, you speak the truth! Back in the day, concerts ruled the earth! I’ve seen most of all the greats- Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees, AeroSmith, Sly &The Family Stone, Grand Funk Railroad, The Isley Brothers, Al Green, Teddy Pendergrass, and the ultimate concert - my oldest brother took me with him and snuck me into WOODSTOCK! Lawd Have Mercy! We might be old, but we had the best music!
Phil, along with Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney are the only 3 musicians to sell over 100 million albums while with a band and solo, pretty damn impressive 😎
Check out 'ABACAB' with Genesis at the Wembley concert 1987 for some incredible Collins drumming and Mike Rutherford guitar solos. AMAZING performance that ROCKS!
Great reaction! Yeah Phil was a drummer for Genesis. Sadly, he can’t drum anymore due to health problems but he was one of the best and this song is epic! One of the greatest drum solos ever. I find myself drumming along with him.
as Phil comes down the steps he touches his heal to each step to make sure he doesn't fall because of the lighting most dont catch it he once said i am a drummer that sings
You are SORRY you did not Pause ??????? That was a GREAT REACTION! Apart from Copyright issues 95% + of your viewers do NOT want you to break up the flow, continuity, and momentum of this epic performance but do EXACTLY what you did which is visually reacts during the song with the one necessary Pause and AFTER give your considered thought. You also did not waiver during the intro and got the Crowd's reaction, as well so EXCELLENT, My Friend! "Comfortably Numb" the LIVE PULSE version by Pink Floyd will blow your mind with the accompanying Light show as long as you promise only one pause :)
I really enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for not stopping every 2 seconds to interrupt the greatness of Phil Collins and show respect for his music. I can tell you truly enjoyed his performance and I enjoyed watching you react to it. BTW, I subscribed to your channel! Suggestion to react - Mama by Genesis, please.
Phil is one of the best drummers in the world ever, but sadly he can no longer play them because the joints in his wrists aren't strong enough. His son plays, drums, too, and he's also pretty good.
I been to one of his concerts here in Texas a few months before COVID hit, and I will tell you. His son has definitely inherited his talent with the drums.
Phil Collins, one of the best drummers, ever, and he's a great singer too. When Peter Gabriel left Genesis, they auditioned hundreds of singers and none of them seemed to fit. He sang backup to Peter for years, so one thing lead to another, and Phil stepped in. The rest is history. He was one of the best Prog-Rock drummers around. Listen to some Genesis from their first albums. Mr. Collins could hang with any drummer, at the time. Great reaction by the way!
🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸 Another best of British! That tune was on the soundtrack to 1980s Miami Vice! One of the coolest tracks, for one of the coolest programs of the 1980s! I was a young teenager then, and now I’m a 50 year old fart! 😂
Great song. Phil had made a name for himself as drummer for Genius, before taking over as lead singer. Now do some Pink. Sober (live) Glitter In The Air (live) Try (live) and Just Give Me Reason (live) all are freaking awesome.
Even better live! He was the drummer for Genesis, and took over vocals when their singer quit. He writes his own songs, except for a few collaborations.
One of the best drum solos ever - with Roger Taylor being his only real competition. As has been mentioned, Phil started off drumming and was with the Band Genesis before he took over the vocals for the band (as well as playing the drums) after Peter Gabriel left. Amazing track and a great reaction.
Yep! He was the drummer for the band.."Genesis" and Peter Gabriel was the lead singer. When Peter left the band for a solo career, Phil stepped up and blew them away!!🤩😁
Phil collins is so much better a singer than peter Gabriel and took genesis to the top of the music industry and if they kept peter on they would still be unknown and would not have went anywhere.
Been missing seeing your reactions! Now I know the culprit. Great to see another reaction by you! But when that all famous best dropped, there’s nothing like it nowhere!
The base player looks like some dude from a Harry Potter movie! There is a backup drummer who adds to the performance and likely drops that drum beat if Phil doesn't get sat down in time. Awesome performance.
Phil stopped drumming due to hearing problems, does it a few times now. He is a great drummer, long before he started singing. Try to find an older concert, like in the '80's.
Not bad for a drummer who "sings a bit"! :) We're talking about one of the best drummer ever!!! Phil joined Genesis in 1970 as their drummer. He did some backing vocals to the singer, Peter Gabriel, and also as the singer on 2 tracks up until 1976. Peter Gabriel left 1975 after the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway tour and the search for a new singer began. After MANY auditions for a new singer, the band decided that Phil would be the new Genesis singer. They released the 1976 album A Trick Of The Tail with Phil Collins on vocals and drums. For tours they hired an additional drummer, Bill Bruford and in 1977 they hired Chester Thompson (the other drummer in this video) who played on tours. Phil Collins is one of only three artists that has sold over 100 million albums as a solo artist and with a group. The other two is Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. A busy drummer who sings a bit!
Phil is one of the greatest drummers ever!
Legend! Phil Collins is the GOAT! All of his music is great! Amazing artist, vocalist & musician (drums/piano)! Simply amazing Performance!
He was 57 when he did this concert.................He can still pack the house.!!!!!!!............Im 62 & I grew up loving his music..........He is an EPIC !!!!!!!!!
Drummer first, singer second. One of the best drummers ever!
He was one of the most iconic drummer's in his day
Legendary drummer to boot.
A true musician, writer, performer...timeless!!
The moment he sits down and starts drumming is unbelievable
This song is timeless! My kids, grandkids, and a couple of my great grandkids are very familiar with it.
Takes YEARS/LIFETIME to achieve this level of PERFORMANCE!
"Did y'all see how smooth he just stepped on the drums and came in on beat like that....WOW!?"....We all saw it as your eyeballs nearly popped out of your head!
Sensible kid! Somebody did a fantastic job!
Love it tho.
No matter how many times I hear this i get goose bumps🔥
I watched it 45 times now all different analysis 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🤟🏻
Your eyes are the best
He was the a drummer in the 80s for the band Genesis and also sang some. He's super talented.
I had the privelege of watching this man in concert in April 1997, in Champaign, IL. Yes, that drum drop gets you every. single. time.
Ditto!!
Omg yes! 🙄😅😉
He blatantly paused it within seconds of the drum solo starting! Did you watch something different to me?
@lmoein he did say second time, and then restarted before the drums and let Phil go on.
The suppressed soul searches..... Regards
Everyone has that face when drums come in
I made that face my first time too.(hearing drum solo). 😆
Fabulous phil🎉
Phil Collins was the drummer for Genesis before he went solo....he's a legend!
I've watched this a thousand times at least and loved every second.
One of the best beat drops in music history!!! Can't get enough of it!!!🎼😊🎼😊🎼😊 Now aren't you glad you listened to this version??? He's one of the most magnificent drummers of all times!!!💜💜💜
Never ever stop in the beginning of the greatest drum solo ever!
The brother also playing a drum kit is the great Chester Thompson who had been with Phil, Genesis and Santana over the years. A joint named "Phil Collins and Chester Thompson Drum Duet" is pretty badass.
Truly GOAT. As an old lady I just learned what GOAT was and it really applies to this guy!!! ❤️👏❤️👏
I saw this same performance live in Florida on his "First Final Farewell Tour"...simply AMAZING in person...the whole show was fantastic!!!! I was very fortunate to see him in concert and when he hit those drums, the place went wild.
That was the best facial reaction I’ve ever seen to the drum solo!
Phil is such a fantastic drummer!
Phil has said he is a drummer that can sing. That's bad ass. 🔥
I'm one of the lucky million or so to see him perform this live on his Farewell tour. I not only heard it with my ears, I FELT it rise from the soles of my feet and blasted into my head. He is considered to be one of the top rock drummers of all time.
Hes always played drums, he became the singer when Peter Gabriel left Genesis. Still played drums on alot of tracks
Phil, along with Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney are the only 3 musicians to sell over 100 million albums while with a band and solo, pretty damn impressive 😎
Phil Collins doesn't need a band of twerking teens to keep your attention during a concert.
Though that would be nice.
@@rebeltvr6046 teens? You ok
@@senpaigoku1496 Would you rather old bitches with sagging asses twerk? Come on now
@@senpaigoku1496 his probably a teen himself..hopefully
@@senpaigoku1496 hey don't pick on us old women now. We and Phil are wonderful additions....have a blessed day everyone.
Its like he's singing a duet with the guitar...😊
the living legend Phil Collins
this is what a true artist to music looks like..
enjoy his greatness..
Great reaction. 👍
Your expression was pure and honest. ❤️
My new hobby on UA-cam is watching reactions to this video.
Check out 'ABACAB' with Genesis at the Wembley concert 1987 for some incredible Collins drumming and Mike Rutherford guitar solos. AMAZING performance that ROCKS!
I love when he sits down to play the drums. Really makes you sit up and take notice! It's SO good. :)
Phil plays drums. Guitar. Sax.
Just hearing each instrument in the beginning was awesome. & Your facials were classic....
Great reaction! Yeah Phil was a drummer for Genesis. Sadly, he can’t drum anymore due to health problems but he was one of the best and this song is epic! One of the greatest drum solos ever. I find myself drumming along with him.
He plays everything!
He is a drummer extraordinaire

Masterpiece, GOAT!!!! Phil looks mad and looks right through you!!! Amazing!!
You might wan to listen to Take Me Home from the same tour. Transitions from the trap set to Congas and it’s epic.
I still get chills every time I hear this song..
I really enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for not stopping every 2 seconds to interrupt the greatness of Phil Collins and show respect for his music. I can tell you truly enjoyed his performance and I enjoyed watching you react to it.

Phil was a drummer that could sing!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Phil is a Bad Man
Noone seems to notice the drums rising up from below stage until the lights hits hit them.....they weren't there at the start
Yep, and you can hear the crowd roar as they come into sight!
They'd be INSANE to block you on this AWESOME LIVE VERSION!!
Phil is one of the best drummers in the world ever, but sadly he can no longer play them because the joints in his wrists aren't strong enough. His son plays, drums, too, and he's also pretty good.
I saw Phil's old Group=Genesis' first-ever Top Of The Bill' performance in South East London in 1972 with 3,000 others.
The rest is history :)
Phil explained “My vertebrae have been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in. It comes from years of playing
This was a recent concert....but he was definitely supported by his rhythm section down below.
I been to one of his concerts here in Texas a few months before COVID hit, and I will tell you. His son has definitely inherited his talent with the drums.
Young dudes don’t count out the old dudes yet! Still rocking and thank you for sharing!
Mind blown every time I watch this video.
Phil is a fantastic drummer. 🥁🙂
He is the best of Britain!
This concert is in Paris and there was 20,000 people there I am a huge fan of phil Collins we both have the same last name
Phil Collins, one of the best drummers, ever, and he's a great singer too. When Peter Gabriel left Genesis, they auditioned hundreds of singers and none of them seemed to fit. In the group genesis he was the lead singer and drummer both
I love watching young cats watch this classic
The opening chords on the guitar makes my hair stand. HELLO? Then the drums later.? FOXTROT OSCAR. WOW. 💛💛
Two sets of drums going
I actually saw Phil Collins in concert. Awesome show.
🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸
Another best of British!
That tune was on the soundtrack to 1980s Miami Vice! One of the coolest tracks, for one of the coolest programs of the 1980s!
I was a young teenager then, and now I’m a 50 year old fart! 😂
Your reaction on the beat down from Phil is awesome! Straight up honest!
He killed it!!
Great song. Phil had made a name for himself as drummer for Genius, before taking over as lead singer. Now do some Pink. Sober (live) Glitter In The Air (live) Try (live) and Just Give Me Reason (live) all are freaking awesome.
Paris, 70,000 fans!!!
This os Pure art
Yep he plays Sticks... He was the drummer for Genesis with Peter Gabriel back in the Day. Epic career! So many good songs!
Hope you get your windows drivers updated ......chuckles ( about the 3:55 mark )
Take a bow Phil et al...

Welcome to the 80's were musicians actually performed.
Awesome performance!

20,000 people in attendance @ this concert!!!
Baddest drum solo eva!!
Mindblowing! ! Wawww amazing 😍😍😍
THATS HIS SON PLAYING ON THE DRUMS IN HIS RHYTHM SECTION OMFG
Now that you have watched this version which is damn good, check out the version that he does with Eric Clapton.
Phil Collin's is the drums!!!
Phil was with the band Genesis as a drummer. Their singer left the band and Phil picked up the slack. He and Don Henley are GOATS as singing drummers.
And this blows your mind🙌🏼🙌🏼
To play Drums and simultaneously sing are is the most difficult combination most Musicians say...
