    Most people would stick their guns (even if they’re wrong), or just outright ignore the new information.

      Yes…usually when people give daily green lipped mussels whole or powdered, it’s because they’re anti inflammatory to prevent or reduce arthritis pain.
      Wheatgrass is usually given for the chlorophyll which helps detox bad stuff, and gives a feeling of well-being. I’ve had good results from feeding wheatgrass juice powder (not the whole grass) and Spirulina to cats when they were sick. And Chlorella for anaemia (the iron is more easily absorbed than from other sources for some reason. I myself had anaemia for years, supplements didn’t work - tablets, liquid iron, molasses. Nothing helped. Chlorella works so well I have to limit it or I get symptoms of iron overload ).

    I've been doing this for over 20 years. I've seen a lot of fats. Come and go. And that includes ingredients. One ingredient will get hot and everybody insists that it needs to be in every bowl. And a year or two later it's completely out of favor. That's why I'm never quick to adopt the newest suggestions and the newest trends in ingredients to add to the meals. The same reason I don't add supplements every day. I do have supplements that I can give, but not daily. I still stick to variety and balancing overtime.

      I think some people are starting to really over complicate feeding. Dogs have been living on human scraps for 20 to 30 thousand years.. feed red meat, make sure they have lots of organs, make sure they have plenty of bone. It doesn't have to be rocket science. I mean oysters? Really?!

    • @nogames8982
      @nogames8982 5 місяців тому +2

      @@anonperson3972 there's no doubt in my mind that people are over complicating it. partly because it is now commercialized. There is money to be made in those supplements, recipes, etc. it was a lot easier when I started out, there weren't 5000 UA-cam and Facebook channels trying to tell you what to do. And not the virtue signaling that goes on now. they are making it so complicated that they are scaring people away from raw feeding and that is a very bad thing.

    I am getting my service dog puppy next week (8,5 week old goldador, 80% golden retriever, 20% labrador) and I want to feed him a raw diet. However, as he will be my service dog, I will need to train him intensely for the first two years, and I cannot take raw food with me outside and into storesw to train of course. I have read that freeze dried raw food can be a great alternative fot those training meals, however, I do not know with what brand or place to go, adn I don’t know where to get them, which ones are best, etc etc. How do you feel about combining raw food with the freeze dried raw, and do you have any recommendations as to where to get the best quality food? So far I've only seen that it's copper that can't be absorbed. Pork liver is a decent source of zinc which is great. Many thought that because it contains a good amount of zinc, this could be why copper wasn't being absorbed (copper and zinc compete when it comes to absorption) but it's not crazy high in zinc or anything, so that is less likely the cause

      Fun fact: "Sea wolves" are a type of wolf in the Pacific Northwest and a huge part of their diet is seafood that they catch themselves.
      Edit: Excerpt from Wikipedia under "Vancouver Coastal Sea Wolves"
      "Along the coast, they will forage for barnacles, clams, mussels, and crabs, digging into the sand with their paws and using powerful jaw muscles to break open shells."
      Earth is fun.
