For Story #1, I really don't think she did anything wrong by hanging out with his ex-friends. To be honest, the man sounds like a petty, narcissistic man-child and a professional victim, and I'm impressed that OP managed to stay with him long enough to have more than one child with him.

Agreed, the ex husband's should not be given control of who she hangs out with. The group could have been her friends prior to her ex-husband ruining it, and they would like to keep their relationship with her.

Story 5: it’s not that she friendzoned him. It’s that he girlfriendzoned her.

Story 1: 💯 percent agree with you. I was like "wait...didn't the Dad say he was going on a date directly to his daughter when she asked to go with him?" Victim blaming for sure. Husband is creating situations & then throwing a fit when his mess isn't cleaned up to his liking. Not sure about the photo thing. I do think she would have to know he'd see it & be mad. But he still could have found out she was with them some other way. Unfortunately, I know from experience, that even if OP acted ideally & said she'd like to join them but can't because it would create problems for her-husband is the type to accuse her of deliberately hanging out with them anyway. In my mind he'll act the same either way so the fact that she didn't go out of her way to save his feelings doesn't matter but did definitely speed up the inevitable.

Story two is why I had a child free wedding youngest kid there is my nine or 10 year old sister-in-law and she was in the wedding party. I had to fight and argue with one of my aunts because she was insistent on my cousin coming and I put my foot down and said absolutely not there is no exceptions.

    Story 5:
As a girl, growing up with guys friends was very very hard… having a friend admit romantic feelings feels like SUCH A BETRAYAL it feels so gross and it’s heartbreaking and feels like you never had a friend in that person and that you couldn’t trust them the entire time. It’s awful, it’s happened to me from around 14yrs well into my adult life many times, boys and men, to guys i was friends with for years in middle and highschool to co-workers and friends in the military and the disrespect entered the room around then and I just quit being friends with men( except my husband obvy.) because it hurt EVERYTIME. There is no friendship after someone has to put you in the friendzone, boys need to learn at a young age that friendship is more important than satiating attraction.

In story #1 She DIDN'T hang out with his ex-friends. She was out with HER friends, and the ex friends just HAPPENED to be at the same karaoke bar. She did not intentionally go out with them. She saw them while out with others

I would ask why anyone would want to hassle kids in dress clothes at a wedding when babysitters were available for free, but the answer is obvious, they WEREN’T hassling the kids. They were letting them free-range like spastic little chickens.

"Friendzone" dudes really need to understand that they're not even in the "friendzone." They're in the "oh, God, not this guy again" zone.

Story 5 is so eerily similar to a friendship I had. He told me he liked me, I said no. I kept some distance for a while and then we started hanging out again. When we did I laid out the boundaries saying we could only ever be friends and if he couldn't handle it, I was going to dip. Scroll forward several months. We go to a bookstore and he was standing a lot closer to me than I was comfortable with and any time I took a step away, he'd step closer. After that outing he texted me saying he really wanted to kiss me that day. I said no and told him we couldn't be friends anymore. He tried backpedaling but I stood firm that he crossed the line and he knew my terms. Then he tried saying he was just idealistic and an optimist. I said something along the lines of I couldn't care less and had to block him because even though I told him repeatedly to stop texting and calling, he wouldn't. That was three months ago and just the other day a mutual coworker came up and asked me what happened because he's still moping around about the whole thing.

I don't understand people that just let their kids run Amuck anywhere? I know sometimes things happens, and kids will be kids. But when that happens why don't the parents do something about it? When the bride & groom do everything to accommodate them, and the parents don't bother to one not bring them, and take advantage of the childcare provided if they want an adult experience. But, they bring their kids to an event that has standard rules for behavior, and let tripping the bride occur without noticing, or give their misbehaviour a Blind Eye And, I cannot wrap mind around how any parent could just not stop the kids skipping down the aisle and throw $250.00 a plate food. So, much so the venue staff and/or the groom were forced to intervene, while their parents do nothing

Story 1: I disagree with it being an asshole move. It's pretty clear her husband is a narcissistic, man child, and only has a problem with it because they like her, and not him. For good reason too.
NTA: It's not an asshole move, to let her child know the reason daddy is bragging about dates. Would he rather the kids think he's cheating? Which I wouldn't put it past him for doing so beforehand.

Daycare mom: when you u have children your schedule revolves around them, not you. You shouldn't have planned such a tight schedule knowing that you need to pick up your child. Also she is the one who is providing care for your child in her own home, therefore, she has the right to make the rules, outside of abuse and neglect. If.you don't want to abide by the rules of the one who is caring for your child, then, maybe you need to reprioritize your role as a mother, and do it yourself. Afterall, removing paid child care from your budget will save you more money in the long run.

OK story one I see nothing wrong with her hanging out with his ex friends if she knew them while they were married then she could’ve been friends with them too. Maybe not as deep as her ex was but so what it doesn’t make her the asshole for hanging out with somebody he just got butt hurt because, those were my friends. How dare you you betrayed me. It’s because you’re not friends with somebody anymore doesn’t mean your significant other or ex-significant other can’t be friends with them. I say OP in story one is not the asshole.

"Let them cry it out "… For parents out there who advocate, leaving your kids in a room alone after birth look up, how narcissists and avoidance are made, they were emotionally neglected, and alienated as young children. They had to learn to "self soothe "… So do not believe that old stupid parenting advice. Your children should be near you. They were in for 10 months. Think about it.

Never “let them cry it out”. Babies who have their needs meet will have less crying because they know their needs will be met. Only time you should walk away from a crying baby is if you feel urge to shake or hurt your baby because you’re frustrated with their crying. In that case, go into another room until you have control again or have another person help if possible.
