False allegations can ruin lives on so many levels. Maybe the mom's brother heard about what she had been saying about his friend and that's why he doesn't like her. It's a shitty thing to lie about.

The reason my uncle doesn't like my mother is because they both have the same mental disorder but my mother has it more and its more visible with her. His wife told me being around my mother reminds him that he has this issue. When I was a baby in my walker my mother asked him to watch me and went to the restroom, he watched me walk out the screen door in my walker, fall down the stairs and my teeth went through my tongue (I still have the scar from it). After I started to scream he called for my mother and told her to "get your kid she wont shut up." My grandmother had to come home from work early to rush me to the hospital. He and his wife got custody of me and my brother and I have watched him beat on my brother, and beat on the dogs at his wife's direction.

I know this is old, but I hope the op in story 1 thought twice about a joint bank account or at least made it a bill account. If he was late on bills & spending irresponsibly, he more than likely still will

A teacher discouraging a child with ADHD from reading quietly…. This woman SHOULD NOT BE A TEACHER. Neurodiverse children won’t always fit into your neurotypical ideal and what she did to this little girl could have been so damaging. As someone who has ADHD myself, we can get overwhelmed in large social settings and need some quiet time to recharge our social battery (especially if you are inattentive adhd type… Not all adhd kids are bouncing off the walls). We also as a group tend to suffer from rejection sensitivity dysphoria, which in a defining moment like this being punished for sitting quietly and reading, can be internalised, and potentially stick with her for life. Dad absolutely did the right thing here. His daughter will remember that he was her hero and stood up for her and hopefully she will not be turned off her love of reading after this deplorable behaviour from her teacher. He is NTA, the teacher, however, Ascon 1.
The adoption sounds weird. My birth certificate has my adoptive parents on it but no time of birth or anything. Because it was a closed adoption they change all the details legally. If I want to undo it I have to go to court and ask for my record to be unsealed. Then technically I can reverse to my old birth certificate and name. Other wide she should ahev the name and be able to back trace the actual adoption records.
