- Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. This full length independent documentary on Band of Friends includes reflections by band members who played with Rory Gallagher. Gerry McAvoy was the bass player for Rory Gallagher from 1971 to 1991 on 14 of Rory's solo albums. Brendan O'Neill on drums toured worldwide with Rory from 1981-91. Guitarist Paul Rose overcame personal tragedy and was selected by Rory Gallagher as an award winning guitarist. Interesting insights are given by Jim Kirkpatrick on playing with Band of Friends. The story of Band of Friends is one of survival and overcoming adversity. As well as looking at musical origins and influences, the documentary also explores Rory's musicianship, the idea of Irish blues and how their music helped bring communities together in Belfast during the Troubles. Electric live footage from the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival in Ballyshannon and the Harvest Time Blues Festival in Monaghan is featured. Additional live footage by Fiona Campbell and Dave Swift. An Irish Blues Stories production.

That was just epic . Thank you to all involved
Hope to take my kids home from New Zealand to feel that music energy in Ballyshannon someday soon ❤️
Thank you so much Marcus for this amazing documentary! It was the next best thing to being in Ballyshannon. It was so very well put together going between the band members. The interviews were so insightful and interesting and showed how the music came down from Rory. Documentaries like this are so important in keeping Rory's memory alive, particularly for people like myself who never got to see Rory play live. I look forward to more of your documentaries. Cheers from Canada. 🥰🥰
