Trout Fishing on a Canterbury River - Spring 2023

- Hi everyone.
Today I am out fishing for trout at a local Canterbury River.
The weather was a bit cool and windy, with rain forecast over the following 2 hours.
The river conditions looked perfect and I managed to land a great-looking 6lb brown trout in the cold and rain. You will notice that there were times in the video when I stood there and deliberated on whether to release or keep the fish. I release 99%+ fish that I catch, but this time I decided this fish was coming home.
If you enjoyed this video, please give me a like and also subscribe to the channel, it is much appreciated.
Awesome Fish. Nothing wrong in taking the occasional Jack home, especially a silver one
Cheers, yeah I always feel guilty taking one. But you are correct.

Good Work, I'm wondering which part of the river is the best for fishing. I'm looking to go freshwater fishing for the first time this long weekend any suggestions.
Thanks for that. The Waimakariri is a very long river and good parts of this river hold both forms of trout. I would be targeting the middle reaches of the waimak and parts where the river is not flowing too fast. I hope that helps.
Hi,is that in uk here? Thank
Hi, no this is in New Zealand. Cheers
I just take a pan fry size now
Is that trout or salmon ?
