Just subbed, great video. Love it when they're on like that. Been many years for me though, looking forward to trying Waimak for the first time this weekend :)
I got 4 salmon last year, the biggest was 5.5 pound I kept that other 3 were only 3-4 pound I released them. Yours is one of the biggest I’ve seen from last season!. Here’s hoping they ate better condition this season!
Good stuff, yeah I was pretty lucky catching that 7lber. Many caught have been smaller as you mentioned. I think they will be bigger this year. All the best.
Hi, Thanks for the comment. I am using an 8ft Shimano Backbone Rod and a Penn 4500 Spin Fisher Reel. I am running 30lb braid with a 20lb fluorocarbon leader. Cheers Aaron
@@Harveyshuntingandfishing yeah, sorry about that. I wasn't recording at the time I caught the fish but decided to show the size and mention the weight as it was my first sea run salmon.
@@canterburyfishingadventures If a ranger pulled you up and you didn't have a licence, you would get a fine because your method involves lures which could catch a Salmon or trout which are sport fish.
It was nice to catch up today...tightlines
@@Kevinohanlons Hey Kevin, yes it was great to meet up and chat about fishing etc Smash those kingfish mate.

Love your content bro, any redcliffs/southshore footage? Been pretty good out there lately

they look like tradespro pliers ? I would always use quality knipex to remove hooks. They grip so much better you can get at George Henry in hornby
Haha, I only use the cheap pliers on Kahawai and then use my Knipex pliers on the salmon 😂
Is that near McKintosh's? I was going to go fishing at the Mak today but just couldn't get out. Looks like a great day!
Yeah it's near MacIntosh. The river is currently dirty, this was filmed earlier on in the year.
Nice video mate, whats your rod and reel combo?

@@RoryMar3 it isn't my boat, but you can launch I'm the Kaiapoi river
There was no footage of you catching salmon ?
@@Harveyshuntingandfishing yeah, sorry about that. I wasn't recording at the time I caught the fish but decided to show the size and mention the weight as it was my first sea run salmon.
do you need a license to fish there
No licence needed for kahawai.

@JAG0071877 That is incorrect. If you do happen to catch a trout or salmon it must be released immediately unharmed.
Can i please get a reply i love your vidios
Thanks for watching, much appreciated.
