He should be riding the back of a wave matching its speed though, not taking a diagonal course - since a diagonal course would run you into the jetty. Trim at those speeds has little effect, but every little bit counts. Especially for a bowrider, and even more especially for the ones with the bow sloping down toward the water - those are lake boats, and people run them through these inlets like they're a Yellowfin or something. (No this isn't quite one of those, it's a Pursuit, and is capable enough) All of these things keeps you from stuffing the bow, and potentially sinking the boat - which I have seen up close and personal in one of these inlets - in conditions similar to this, with far more capable boats. Haulover is no joke. It will eat you.

Center consoles and many other ocean boats are open bow. Please explain what you mean. I’ve been on my open bow boats in rough water and have never felt like this would be a problem. Im probably not understanding though.

The boat will jump wave to wave, with the bow up in the air and the boat almost on plane half the time. People say to trim up, I’d advise against that. Learn throttle control, trim down and have fun. Maneuvering is the answer. By maneuvering I mean speeding up while hopping onto the wave and slowing down while going down the wave. Also there are corridors in between the waves, one should be very present there to be able to spot them. With this very situation in the video, in my opinion nothing terrible happened if the driver and passengers weren't hurt other than got scared. For the driver, it should be a lesson that while driving a boat in a wavy sea he should lock the door to the deck.
