I mean the soldiers are just modified humans right? In hl2 they say Freeman all the time. But they've never really spoken to the character like that

I love how well the physics engine works in source 2. 1:01:55 is one of the best examples for how it could be used in ways that aren't "plan A". Being able to push a manhack using a box when you need to reload is a fantastic addition to an already great game. It truly shows how much time they put into making Alyx one of the best games on the market today. Then the box blocking the door when trying to close it is a frustrating, but very realistic, situation that immerses you into the game BECAUSE it's annoying.

I like the addition of your death scenes. They added to the understanding of learning curve within the game.
You and 2kliksphilip know how to play at a good pace while still looking at stuff. Most streams I found so I could watch for the plot were moving excruciatingly slow on release day (I get it, it's fun, I just wanted to see the story beats before anything was spoiled for me). Thanks for uploading these, so happy this game exists.

Techniclly that 7hr war was won by the actual combine army the ebemies on the Game are like the garrisons for the earth outpost

Earth's colony of the combine military is probably less than 1% in quality compared to the actual combine army
@HydroAstral but the manhacks didn’t damage the cardboard at all, no scratches, nothing. Nothing x100 is still nothing lol. But the minigun could work.
Easily, humans during that war weren't smart enough to take any sort of cover when under heavy fire.
You know, the more I look at Russel's pistol getting upgrades, the more it's starting to look like Alyx's Gun from HL2. The machine gun also looks a bit like a smaller pulse rifle.

The -Combine- Universal Union's treatment of human civilians as well as their Royal Militia seems and feels very differentiated.
Not only the combine appears to put High amount of their resources and investments onto Earth; but they also appear to be let their human subjects have higher autonomy; the Soldiers seem to have highest amount of different castes and variants
I always felt like the reason the Combine allowed Earth to live was because Humans are such a versatile "weapons platform", since most of the other equipment they've shown either relies on telekinesis or robotic supplements (i.e robot arms and legs) a species that has... well, fingers, and fine motor control for manual operation of their stuff would seem invaluable to me.
*And as such they can also be tasked with more than transport and combat actions, which we've only seen the advisors do in any other case.
yeah, and i think that combine soldiers seem to be more "human" or at least still own some degree of conscience is because this predates the rising of the Rebels.I feel like HL2's combine soldiers are more artificial and robotic because the combine didnt want them to turn to the rebel side, and to really fuck with the morale of rebels by making soldiers completely mercyless, think of it like a "Oh shit, theyre starting to properly mess with us, its best if we get serious"
HydroAstral I felt that the reason the soldiers in HL:A are less robotic and have more basic looking armor is because the Combine was still researching humans and didn’t know how to properly augment them yet
The big question in my mind is... WHY THE HELL DO REBELS NOT PRE COMBINE GEAR?
I thought that the "synths" and other alien-like units of the combine were only specialized in order to survive earth conditions, "offworld reassignments" and all...

@@ckinggaming5bucketmadness766 Nope, no commentary is perfect. As a viewer, not obtaining the game, we wished to experience it ourselves, and no commentary brings us closer to that. By not being compelled to hear someone talk about something that might only be public information about the game, little chit chats, etc. etc.

For real though! I've watched Pewdiepie's play through and it frustrated me too much. Cursing at inanimate boots if only funny for so long, and I like Harry's stable cinematic style better.

I love combine design. It's all clearly made for humans, but designed in such a way that humans would have an uncomfortable time using it. That and the lack of care given to walls and pre-existing structures.
Also the whole "lets use trapped, sentient life forms to power stuff" thing is kind of really sad.

My multitool didn't work there for some reason. I think it bugged out. You can see me clicking on the nodes but nothing happened. Either that or I just missed something really obvious!
@@Harry101UK Just watching it, I thought that you had to complete the line puzzle to power the fabricator. Note the lack of thing poking out of the top that normally looks at you. I looked it up on another playthrough, and sure enough it was just the line puzzle that needed to be done to power it, and then a relatively simple puzzle to unlock it. You just weren't willing enough to stick your hands in the actively sparking electrical box, and so didn't detect the rest of the lines. To be fair, I think Russel would thank you for not exposing the Russels to undue stress in the form of deadly amounts of electricity.
@@erictheepic5019 I actually did put my hands in there (even lost health when I got electrocuted). I just cut it out because it didn't work and wasted 3 minutes. The tool didn't operate any of the nodes for some reason. =P

Every one knows that. The Borealis an aperture science ship was shown in half life 2 episode 2. And there’s so much more evidence that is obvious.

That isn't a "fun fact". That is common knowledge about the franchise, a lot of people knew it already. And HL2 already confirmed it by the existence of the Borealis.

Kerhita in theory the Borealis is a larger version of the portal device. That’s why the portal device is called the “handheld” portal device. Advanced local teleportation, no interference from Xen. That’s what the combine haven’t mastered yet, which is why it’s so sought after. Really sad that HL3 will probably never be made because it’s a great set up for a game.
After he got the extra ammo upgrade on the combine automatic, I realized that these are the exact same guns from half life 2, every time you get a upgrade, it slowly transforms into the half life gun, the combine automatic is the AR2. That shot gun is well, the shotgun.
There are exceptions for maybe the USP (starter gun) But maybe it will turn into a slightly upgraded SMG at the end of it, due to the black color and burst?
The combine automatic rifle will turn into the AR2, it starts to take shape after the extra capacity upgrade, it's that cylinder at the end of the gun on the AR2, somewhere along the line we will most likely encounter a combine ball upgrade.
The shotgun has it's 2 shot upgrade harry has not gotten yet, but it will most likely lead to the extended shotgun pump area being added.
There is no SMG (That's because of the USP most likely becoming the SMG)
There are still plenty of weapons we have to wait on but these combinations are most probable at this point in time

That pulse pistol it's beautiful with its extended mag... wish you could use bigger weapons like the pulse rifle. For sure would be great to see it in HD
