To be fair the gman is an interdimensional godlike entity and Gordon's just a jock with a phd
G-man could capture Gordon.
And in Half life 1.
2 Grunt Soldiers Captured Freeman.
So in Theory...
2 Marines = 1 Gman.
And A Drill Instructor is 2x that of a Marine.
So in theory....
Drill Sgt. Dwight D. Barnes
could beat up G-man.
The irony is that G-Man needed to keep Gordon isolated in stasis in an alternate dimension. Not too much of a stretch from a Combine Vault.
@@TyrantJaeger It's arguable that the G-Man didn't really need to, but it was convenient, seeing as it'd stop him from aging and keep him in his prime and whatnot

Not to mention a higher-quality model of DOG. Why even have DOG bring Gordon the crowbar, and go through all that work of modeling and animating him, if you weren't going to use that asset in the future? They could've just as well had the Crowbar on the floor, and have Eli pick it up and hand it to you. But they felt the need to completely redesign DOG and animate him, for _one_ scene. It could just be Valve's typical "flashy" ending, going above and beyond to give the player a little treat, but I think there's more to it than that.

I just recognized his back of head. I knew it was g-man. It truly is as masterpiece. I'm just sad we didn't get to find out what he can do and if he has employers, what are THEY capable of, that they would be able to make someone like him do what they ask.

Just finished it yesterday. Honestly was speechless for a good while. I'm honestly very very very satisfied and I'm so happy I got to experience this in my lifetime.
And the best thing is that it's not an inconsequential prequel, it's not just more lore to fill in the gap. It directly ties into HL2!
Yeah best thing is that it was just made so eli survives and they can make half life 3, it's amazing!
I would like to stop to thank you and appreciate this enjoyable playthrough. While most other uploaders are pain to watch since they constantly bob their head around, use disorientating camera shift to turn around, can't aim and miss obvious loot, you deliver a smooth experience that isn't affected by any of these mistakes. And on top of that, you add personality by communicating with the viewer with hand gestures, and putting effort into every small movement, such as leaning your head to the side while injecting a stimpack to expose your neck.
Bravo.
You pretty much summed up what I was thinking as well.
He's part of the cast technically. The best Alyx performer I've seen.

@@vendybirdsvadl7472 She was only taken in the very moment her father would have died, HL2 played out as normal. G-Man isn't bound by time as literally demonstrated in this video.
*something suggested further down below which I like more is that G-Man went back in time to pretend to have been captured, to test Alyx' skills since Gordon was now protected by the Vortigaunts. When Alyx succeeded in his test he "hired" her, replacing/putting alternate timeline Alyx in the position of original Alyx to shoot the advisor. Then he puts her into stasis.
Russel might just not have had the opportunity to talk to us, chances are hes at white forest too if hes relevant to the resistance.

I still don't comprehend what happened. Did Alyx sacrifice herself for her father? How is this even canon if it doesn't actually tie in with Half-Life 2. I'm so goddamn confused.
flops031 Alyx is now indebted to the G-Man because he allowed her father to survive. To pay that debt, she is ‘Hired’ to carry out whatever task G-Man gives her, and, as a result, is taken away at the point in time where her father should have died to some other dimension to await or fulfill an assignment. Apparently, Alyx’s father also made a deal with the G-Man in some form, as he mentions “Unforeseen Consequences” in response to her disappearance. @@swagathorr The "unforseen consequences" is what gman whispered to Alyx in Episode 1 (or 2, i don't remember) and he told her to tell Eli.
@@majicktek5051 before launching the rocket in episode 2 Eli talks about Gordon and now Alyx saying those same words when first starting the test at black mesa and when Alyx reunites whit her father he also implies that the crystal at the begining of hl1 that you use to open the portal was given to black mesa by the G-man
It’s just a debt. Business. He gave her the weird green energy stuff inside his briefcase, in return she’s... hired. Nobody would want to be put in the freezer with Shepard.
The sound design and music for the inside of the vault IS SO GOOD. JESUS. Specially in the very end when you are walking towards the "chamber". OH MAN the combination of that crazy electric sound combined with those super tense violins set up the BEST ATMOSPHERE IN THE GAME IT'S PERFECT
One of the absolute best parts of the whole game was music! Ima look it up and, if possible, get to listen to separately.

@@ursa_margo HL2 is still fantastic. There were some things that HLA could've done better (which were done in HL2, like long periods of silence) but the Vault was perfect.

I used to fear that the increased quality of the facial animation would run the risk of making Gman too "animated" but holy shit did they do amazingly well with even the tiniest nuances. The way he expectantly looks at you when he asks you what you want "nudged" and the slow dawning of disappointment when you say you want to have him get the combine off earth, going back to the sly smile when he knows he can offer Alyx something that will pull her into his employ. It all fits so well!
Ngl. The strider encounters music is on point and amazing... actually, all the music is pretty on point

nah, he walks away before that and disappears into thin air. Eli at one point looks in his direction right before dog busts in and he's already gone by then.

The freakiest thing about the Gman is that, with all his godlike powers, he has EMPLOYERS.
In HL1 I was scared of him at the end.
Maybe he's a time traveler for hire. "Hey, do you thing this timeline sucks? Pay me and I will make sure that you get the timeline where you marry Jennifer Anniston"
This implies that even with his basically absolute control over the universe, his... employers are implied to have more power than the fricked up stuff he can do.

My headcanon is that his employers are Valve, aka gods/creators of this universe. Try running all his lines with this idea in mind.

I literally started crying at the end. I played half life 2 in 5th grade and fell in love with it. now I'm 18 and just replayed it for the first time in years. this game has a special place in my heart due to it being so amazing and introduced at such a young and developing age. to see a new game and to build upon the story that left us hanging. made me cry. I'm very VERY excited to see what valve has in store. Thank you for providing this gameplay for me and others that cant afford an expensive computer and a vr set up. you just made a grown man cry and the little boy 7 years ago very, very happy. Thank you

I'm guessing that Valve have been waiting for the next thing to make HL3. That thing is VR, and Alyx was the proof of concept. I'm finally holding my breath in anticipation.

I love how the whole game is basically just valve teasing half-life 3. Amazing experience though! 10/10 from me.
In the final scene, Gman is actually watching them from a platform on the left side. Maybe what he's still using Gordon as a pawn.
I couldn't help but notice Eli looking at that direction before quietly saying he'll kill him. I wonder if he saw him too, or if he knew Gordan saw him.
At this point it's obvious Gman is gonna do what Gman wants. That seems to be enslaving useful pawns. He isn't gonna let Gordon or Alyx go without a fight.
I think Half-Life 3 just became a little more... plausible
I think from here the half life games will split into 2 parts.
1: Project Borealis.
These guys will continue the story after Eli died. Gordon and Alyx will go to the Borealis to stop the combine once and for all.
2: Valve.
They may continue the story in this alternative timeline where Eli never dies but Alyx is gone.

he seems to use the same means as the vortigaunts, too.

The "Hard Light Bridge" was seen in Half-Life 2: Episode One, inside the citadel. And it's not exactly like the kind Aperture Science uses.
@@dogman15 He's referring that they're similar technology, and we can at least prove that Aperture Science had either designed and/or manufactured such tech. I wonder if Aperture Science and the Aurora Borealis had something to do with that [since the Combine seem to be interested in the portal technology of the Borealis]

I've been playing this series since I was 6 years old. Thank you so much for giving me this experience I really had to know what happened next. I couldn't find anyone to watch, I typed in no commentary HL ALyx and you were one of the first results. I don't have the money for VR but I wanted to experience this and know what the fuck happens..
Seeing Eli on the floor sent chills down my spine, I teared up and started shaking in confusion.
I haven't had that from a game in a long time, and I wasn't even the one playing.. Thank you so much, I'll subscribe. I watch it beginning to end tonight, at first I was wondering if maybe I shouldn't watch it but I'm really happy I did.
A cliffhanger ended with a cliffhanger... That secret cutscene at the end of the credits really has me fucked up.. My heart feels whole for the first time in a long time, I'm so happy Valve is back.
I guess I will live to see Episode Three.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching any No Commentary - Full Playthrough as much as this one, holy crap. And not only because of the game itself, which, admittedly, was a big part of it.
All the little messing about and mishaps add so much character to the playthrough and makes it a really fun watch. You visibly have fun with the game and play it casually instead of some soulless hardcore gamining robot that does everything perfectly. It was as if I was there experiencing the game with your for the first time as you went along.

... Your playthrough was certainly a really amazing way to enjoy this game I currently cannot obtain (and probably couldn't play through... considering how skittish and squeamish I am). Thank you very much for this quiet playthrough (save the comedic expressiveness of your hands). :D
God damn I was playing through the whole game with my friend watching on discord, and the moment we saw Gman, Gordon, and the after credits scene, we both got legitimate shakes
At this Point Id like to thank you for playing the game without the HUD and with the Continuous Movement. It has been a blast to watch you play this game, even if sometimes you randomly died or your Energy cell just wouldn't want to get into the clip :)

The T4 bacteriophage, despite having a very similar shape, does not look exactly like the Containment Cell.
I literally used Google-Images for this 1-minute research.
Bloody fantastic being able to watch this entire series (which is what it's felt like) free from commentary in brilliant quality and with the occasional laugh of seeing your reactions to stuff. Especially at the end, here.

Thanks for the playthrough. Very smooth camera motions and everything. I knew I wasn't going to be able to afford VR for at least the next year, and was slowly having the story spoiled bit by bit so I just decided to bite the bullet and watch a playthrough. Kind of bittersweet watching it knowing that both the strider battle, and the vault sequences might be the most impressive things to ever be created in VR

I like to think that the line "unforseen consequences" was never meant to be aimed at Eli, but to the player all along.
You get your unforeseen consequences at Half life 1 when the experiment goes wrong. Eli get his at half life ep 2 and Alyx gets hers when she get resurrected

Thank you for staying after credits. I was hoping to see 'something' based on few Steam rewievs that recommended waiting them out.
To add a final comment I'd like to commend you for a very competent gameplay. Both in terms of fine editing, in game skill and a bit of cosplay. I hope that one day I'll be able to experience HL:A as much as you did. In the meantime I've got the urge to replay previous Half Life titles.
Basically in hl2 episode 2 the end eli dies but alyx reverts that in this game "unforseen consequences" then alyx makes it so eli doesnt die but shes gone...
So is this Alyx from a parallel timeline or what

Keep in mind, the whole deal with half life is that its a story about an INTER DIMENSIONAL war, so alyx from another dimension can do something that affects the alyx's from other dimensions when combined with G-Man's aid.
The whole "concept" of Alyx is now in Gman's hands so im guessing she pretty much disappears from all dimensions. Its all theory tho. The end is again just a cliffhanger for Half Life 3
Im guessing that g-man let himself get captured so that he can test alyx, given that gordon failed his tast that i presume it was caused by eli's death in chapter 2
