Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Sorry for taking so long to reply, I sometimes forget to check in when I don’t have a video to upload 😅. I try my best not to make things too busy as goodness knows sometimes I feel the need to fill every single inch of a page up.
Omg I love love love this flip through so much, it's probably one of my faves that i've watched. Journaling goals :D I love your creativity and craftfulness in putting together your journal. It's so lovely!
I've started watching travel journal videos as I daydream of doing one for my next trip to japan and this is just exactly how i want mine to look, omg!! I hope you dont mind i screenshot almost every page so i dont forget the things i want to include in my own 🤣 (like i have manhole cover pics from my previous trip but including your feet is so cute omg)
😂 Oh gosh, screenshot away! I do that too when I come across brilliant journaling ideas that I want to incorporate into my own journals, because otherwise I’ll forget! I hope you’ve started on your journal 😄
My apologies for my very late reply 😅 That’s great! The most important thing is to just have fun and not stress yourself out too much. Starting simple is best! All my earlier journals are just writing, and you should see my first ever travel journal I did back in 2002! 🤭
Oh nice! I got to go back to Tokyo in March for a week and I miss it already! If you’re in Tokyo or Kyoto you should definitely go to the Traveler’s Factory store. I’ve not been to the one in Kyoto before, but the store in Nakameguro Tokyo is on my must-visit list every time!
Hi Nadiah, watching your videos has given me so much inspiration to create my own travel journal. You did a great job. By the way i was wondering what size notebook you used, what is the number of gsm it is and where you bought it. Thank you 😍
Thank you! I should re-record a couple of my previous travel journals for UA-cam one day. For now I am focusing on working on travel journals I haven't put together yet 😅 I will definitely share those when they are ready!
Thank you! I print my photos on Fuji Crystal Archive Matte photo paper, which shouldn’t fade, but you never know. All sorts of factors can affect it. So far they’re still ok though!
Thank you! Some people call this tracing paper, some people call it vellum (although it technically isn’t). I bought mine online via Shopee but they should also be available in art and office-style stationery shops.
Appreciate it! I’ll look for this on local shops near me. Follow up question, how do you stick this to become an extra page? What kind of tape do you use?
@@airynigagamao8779 No problem! Ah, if you take a look at 6:40, you'll notice that a generous piece of the tracing paper has been stuck onto one page, and then I covered some of it up with photos. This is to make sure that the extra page won't come loose easily. In 17:04 though, I just glued one side of the tracing paper following the middle fold of the page. I use a transparent roller tape glue to stick the tracing paper down. It has to be a really clear roller tape though. Sometimes it's tinted blue or green and that will definitely show through the paper.
@@nadiahkimie thanks for these very detailed instructions. I did not notice that it was glued on 17:04 until you mentioned it. Can’t wait to make my own and apply these tips 💕
Thank you! I hope you’ll be able to use them in your journal. It’s a great way to keep them in your collection without actually keeping the whole entire packaging 😄
Thank you! Let me know if there's something specific you'd like to find out is from where and I'll try and remember where I got it from. Just screenshot it and send me a DM on instagram! Most of them have been accumulated over several years though and sometimes picked up from random shops.
I’m glad you found some inspiration in my journal 😊. Camera-wise I use my iPhone and also a Canon EOS-M. My photos are printed via photobook.com as I prefer matte prints to glossy ones and all the small photo printers only work with glossy photo papers.
Thank you! I'm glad you got some new ideas from my flipthroughs for your journal - I definitely enjoy coming across new ideas to try out too! And that reminds me... I should really do more photo waterfalls! They're great space savers.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you got some ideas from my flipthrough. At the moment I only have one process video but it’s for my regular journal layout (ua-cam.com/play/PLjxUzQrAF3aB5DLSYEZS0jabbQOzHRB-a.html). I haven’t done one for my travel journals just yet as I tend to do them across several days at different hours and I am fussy when it comes to lighting for recording purposes 😅
Thank you! Do you mean the ones at 7:03 of this video? The hexagons are actually part of a packaging of something I bought - I think it was pickles! And the fan was part of a brochure from a Japanese fan shop, both along the main Arashiyama street, at least the shops were there in 2018 and I hope they’re still there now.
hi! how do you make sure that the receipts won't fade over time? What paper did you use for the printing of the pictures? Hope you will reply. Thanks in advance.
Hi! Sorry for taking so long to respond. I haven’t opened up UA-cam in awhile 🙈. For the receipts, honestly, I just hope for the best 😅. But if it’s something I really want to ensure doesn’t fade over time, then I’ll print out a copy onto regular paper. I use Fuji matte crystal archive paper, although I think its name might have changed from when I last got photos printed out.
Hi! I use photobook.com to print my photos as I haven’t found a small photo printer than can print on matte photo paper just yet. I don’t do anything to the boarding passes. Keeping them not so exposed to sunlight helps slow down fading, but if you are worried about that you can also scan and print out boarding passes, receipts, etc so they last longer.
It's a lot of work, but I go over all the text and boxes on my boarding passes and recipts with a fineliner pen (it takes a steady hand and a lot of patience lol). That way I can keep the original paper and once the thermal ink fades the pen version still keeps the original fonts. It's not perfect, but it keeps the original info! Scanning and printing is fine too, but I like the original paper (especially of boarding passes)
This is just so lovely! I am planning a trip soon and had plans to bring my journal along. How did you acquire the business cards of restaurants and cafes though? They add so much character!
Thank you! Oh, if they have business cards, they always put them at the cashier or reception counter, so I just take them from there 😄. It’s a stark contrast to more European restaurants that almost always have no business cards you can take and stick in your journal 🤭
@@nadiahkimie Thank you so much! Yes I don't really see a lot of business cards in Western eateries though! Your videos are simply lovely and provide a lot of inspiration! :D
It varies on what I’m sticking… I use glue sticks or muji’s wrinkle-free glue for uncoated papers, roller tape glue for things that are somewhat transparent or if they’re close to the spine of my journal, and tombow pit liquid glue if I need something stronger. For photos I like to use photo mount tape, acid-free double sided tape, or I’ll use the tombow pit liquid glue as well depending on where I stick them.
Hi! Tks for sharing your journal, they are so so well done!! U r also v creative and you draw so well!! Just a question, do you journal immediately or you collect them till you are home? If so, how did u incorporate the stamps? Tks for sharing!
Thank you for watching my travel journal flipthrough! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊. Did I draw anything in these journals? They could be stamps or cut outs or something because my drawing skills are basic at best 😅. I journal when I get home - sometimes several years after my trip because of lack of time. I will take my journals on my trip though and try to guesstimate which spreads the stamps will end up on. This is quite risky though so nowadays I just bring a blank piece of paper, stamp on that, and then just stick it in the journal later.
Very pretty!! I am going in februari for the second time to Tokyo because my son lives there. ( We are Dutch) I love it so much there! Do you print your photo’s while you are traveling? Or later when you are back home? And where do you print it with? I always write in my travelersnotebook while I travel and print the pictures later but sometimes it is more convenient to do while traveling. But it also takes a lot of time because I also write to much too. 🤣
Thank you! And I completely understand with the writing too much bit 😂. I only work on my travel journals once I am home because I am always so busy trying to do everything on my trips that I barely have time to actually rest and journal 😅. I also wait until all my photos are printed before I permanently stick or write anything in because I always take too many photos too 😬. Enjoy your trip to Tokyo! I can’t wait to go back again! I miss it all the time, even though I was there in March last year.

Thank you! Well, I kind of do a bit of both. I’ll somewhat plan them day by day and adjust as needed, but sometimes it’s hard to predict what’s going to happen so I try not to stick things directly in my journal while I’m traveling. What I do try to do is end an insert to coincide with the end of a day, so I will then plan and adjust my pages before that. I hope that made sense 😅
It was a lot of fun! I have a daily journal which I fill up on the go, but the actual travel journal I did when I got home. If I journaled my trip on the go I wouldn't have time to do anything 😅
