You were telling a bit of my own story. I'm 49, and got a stroke by the end of March this year, mostly due to stress at work and a still undiagnosed mild hypertension that sky-rocketed during a few days of intense and very stressing work. The stroke (luckily) was also quite mild, so it didn't affect me phisically, but I was still affected, with a mild aphasia and some little memory problems. I'm now fully recovered, after some months away from work and mainly by a lot of brain training, exercising and taking some meds until my blood pressure got controlled. I know I was pretty lucky, because it was mild and, even with the aphasia there, I was able to make myself understood enough so I was driven to ER in less that 1.5 hours after the event. Anyway, I could not agree more with you. Controlling our salt intake, maybe also caffeine, and specially exercising, is the way to go. Now I just take one pill a day, while I was having 4 during the first days, since after exercising a lot more than before (mainly bicycle) and losing aroung 10 Kg., I started to even have hypotension during certain hours of the day. Anyway, like some people say, I was born again that day, even if the stroke was mild. BTW, English is not my native language (that's Spanish) so I had to recover two languages, since I work a lot in English with many clients from abroad (I'm in Spain).

Been doing this for a while now. A question you didn't cover. Do we need salt in our diet at all?

Good question! You do to a certain extent. It’s an important electrolyte for the human body

Simple 3 things to follow. Wouldn't keeping an ideal weight, healthy diet of no red meat and monitor your blood pressure level regularly to make sure it's normal is key to prevent heart attack or stroke? If it's too high then they need to be on medication until the pressure comes down

Yes. Red meat is actually not bad for you at all even from a cardiac standpoint and is a large myth within the health industry!

Not a good habit if you can help it. While it may not give you a stroke per se but may cause other chronic inflammation in your body. Sleep helps the body to regenerate and repair cells.
