That is the amazing John "bonzo" Bonham on drums. He is touted as the greatest rock drummer of all time. The other reaction you did was about 28 years later and his son Jason was on drums doing an admirable job. Big shoes to fill for Jason.

Julie I see and like all your great comments under many Zeppelin reactions. As a life long Zeppelin fan myself, best band ever, please take a look at Band Maid they’re the only band since for many years that appeal to an old, cough, LZ fanatic.

Interestingly, Genesis (another British band of this era, but generally quite different from Led Zepplin) has a song from 1976 that’s sort of like their own take on this: Squonk.

  • @robertj5881

That can give you a sense of why the band had to end when he died a little more than a year after this. By creating that groove and not really doing too many fills for most of the song, he builds the tension towards the end and plays off so perfectly with the rest of the band. He was irreplaceable

It pains me this was performed in a field in Knebworth just 5 miles from where I live.
I walk my dog near it all the time and I think why did I have to be born in the 90’s lol
However what’s really painful is hearing the stories from my grandad + dad who both went to it 😭🤣

John Bonham is drumming in 4:4 time, Jimmy page and John Paul Jones are playing a different time signature, they meet up every 12th bar. There is a vid that goes into why he was such an amazing drummer. You may be interested I will post link in a reply.

I’m so glad you watched this performance! Lately people have been watching the reunion concert, and Jason Bonham is very good, but there is something about John Bonham that no one will ever match. If you’re a drumming fan, you might check out the album version of “In My Time Of Dying”, and then the live version at Earl’s Court in 1975. Then check out “Achilles Last Stand”, album version, and then live at the 1979 Knebworth concert. His drumming is fantastic.

Love watching a newbie hearing this for the first time. There are no bad Led Zeppelin songs ,only timeless masterpieces. In the year 2121 people will still be listening to this for the first time and become Led Zeppelin fans. Thats how influential this band is. To every band who followed they were all influenced by what Zeppelin had done Led Zeppelin 1 forever changed the way music was, performed, composed and produced. We will never see another band that will do whst Zeppelin did. Just another reason why they are the greatest ever in the history of recorded music

    • @gerhardbraatz6305

And it was so great growing up with the music of Zeppelin.

    • @rickjohnson3580
      @rickjohnson3580 3 роки тому +1

@@gerhardbraatz6305 I could not agree more. Waiting for the next album. You would wear out the grooves on the previous album. Because you sit back in your bean bag chair. Clean your bong clean water a couple of ice cubes and your ready.
Turn off the lights, and Turn on the black light. Your room windows covered in aluminum foil. Your posters come to life under the black light.. Then I carefully take out the album, put it on side 1 on your Technics turntable with a diamond needle.
Then crank up the volume of your Marantz 100 watt per channel tuner/amp.
Your 4 Bose 501's start to cracle and pop as the album begins. you spark up the first bong hit and POW!! The album begins. The foiled windows start rattling. Now you crank it as load as your speakers could handle. Then you sat there in the middle of the room . Speakers in all 4 corners .passing the bong around and drinking sodas. Hearing the music going from left to right and back again you are Rocking out to every song. You don't dare skip a song. Then side 1 is over. We would go to the kitchen get some munchies. Cookies or chips. then side 2 you sit back and let the music take you to that special place. Back then
You learned evey lyric, every lick , every break from every song. By listening to albums in this manner (the way they were intended to be herd) you really felt connected to the band and the music on a personal level. In such a way that today's youth will never understand.
Maybe that's why the younger generation just don't get it. How we can be so hardcore fans. Loyal and true. Being a Zeppelin fan back in the 70's. It wasn't just a band it was a lifestyle. I know when we lost Bonzo on that sad September day. We all felt like we lost our brother or best friend. I had reserved 2 front row tickets $25 ea. for the 1980 North American tour. As in 1977 the show was sold out by the time I got to the ticket booth after school. They were to be in San Diego in October 1980 only a few short weeks after Bonzo's death. I honestly never got over that loss. I stayed home from school all week in my room playing every zeppelin album. Over and over, with tears in my eyes. Bonzo was alive with every triplet or fill. Since then I went to every midnight showing of TSRTS. Can't even count the times.
I don't know why but I just felt I needed to share.

@@rickjohnson3580 Nothing better than putting on Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, sitting back and hitting the bong. I went to school in Georgetown and remember when they had all the head shops. We used to skip school get high and hit all the shops to check out all the amazing bongs and other great pipes and things that were in all the shops. It was such a great time to grow up. All the great music was just awesome.

Hey man- hope it "eases your worried mind" (to use a Zep phrase) to know I saw both parts here in Canada- and liked and sub'd... you like Zeo? I like you. Simple. Good feelings from you led to a fine exposition of those feelings by you... and we Zep Heads KNOW that the great groups (Zep, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, The Who, The Kinks, Cream, Yardbirds, Rush, Jeff Beck Group, Eurythmics) THRIVE on emotions. Be safe.

Robert Plant is actually better then Freddy Mercury, this is after he had to have surgery on his vocal cords. Plant has the greatest tone range & versatility with his amazing vocals. This drummer is the late great John Bonham, the father of the last drummer, considered the greatest drummer ever. His death is why the band split up, they knew they couldn’t replace him, & couldn’t have replaced any members.
