I met Ice-t on the street of Amsterdam in around 1998-1999 he was touring with bodycount. I did not notice him at first but there were some girls asking for autographs from this black dude,.. and I immediately thought : RNB singer or movie star ,.. and then I saw it was Ice-t. So I politely asked If I could have an autograph. And then it happened!!!!! He was the kindest, coolest, sweetest guy, he asked me if I was going to see the show? I told him I was not. He said that there might be some tickets left And if I wanted to come I should check tickets out. He shook my hand and kinda patted me and the back , smiled and wished me a great day. And I just stood there....... kind of trying to capture what just happened. Now let me tell you,.. I was not a huge Ice- T music fan. It was to hardcore for me. I liked his acting ,.. but that was kinda it. But because of the way he was,... every time He is on tv or there is something on TV,.... I remember that meeting , and the fact he was such an incredibly kind guy. I know famous people do not always have the time to do this. But it was really cool and nice he gave people the time and showed the interest. For me,.. Ice-T can not do wrong for the rest of my life.
That's fucking dope. Thanks for sharing.

Another OG that gives Em probs.
Met him in '88 after a show at the I Beam in SF. He was so cool. Asked my friends and I what kind of music we listened too. We listed a bunch of genres. He love it and said he felt sorry for anyone who listen to one kind of music.
Makes sense, considering he did both gangsta rap and crossover thrash (fusion of thrash metal and hardcore punk)

Nowadays when you're trying to stand out from the crowd, you're immediately getting into the crowd, that is trying to stand out from the crowd.
I appreciate Ice-T being the historian of hip hop nowadays. But what he's saying is true, the reason that Eminem became my favorite rapper is he was the first guy I ever heard that was rapping about getting bullied and the rage that can cause, that reached me.
Ice T seems like such a chill dude. He exudes life experience and class.
Love Ice-T most real guy out there. he pulls no punches and tells it like it is like it or not! That's respect!
I've always liked Ice. He took the rap game to another level for many to follow. A true OG.

Tom McDonald is the epitome of original artist who tells it like it is period. If you don’t like him someone has issues.
tom macdonald thinks eminem was cloned lol. he's wack as fuck
AAAAANd...that's what hip hop is about, everyone being considered real for telling their unique story, not being ostracized for not being street like some of these haters out here today trying to push people out the game.
I think it's more like half of these rappers shouldn't be claiming sets and shit. Like 69 could have just not brought up street shit if he wasn't going to be a street person, and he'd have practically his whole fanbase, but he wanted more clout. If you're really about it cool, but everyone is trying to leave that shit behind so if you're not about it, don't play pretend
This is why like Lil Dicky is awesome.
Give NOT shit-ONE what other people say, doesn't affect you, just expressions of ignorance, they don't know any better, not stupid, just unknowing. Ain't it about the music?
Not according to Snoop. Black = Hip Hop.

I'm a old head from back in Ice T "s day ...I knew when Eminem hit he was going to be a star 🌟.....
The thing about Eminem is: his lyricism, speed, and rhyme scheme are top tier. It doesn't matter what color of skin he has, his mouth and mind, on any human, would make them a formidable rapper.
Saw Ice T in a nightclub in my tiny little town in the UK when I was 14 in 1991. He was my hero back then and it’s still the best concert I’ve ever been to.
I'm a white dude and I don't act "black" or "street" and i have such a great time with my black friends and talking to black people who have come from a very different place. I find that the last things he said about just being real has been so true. A little insight into white people world... a big reason why white people love black people or its culture, maybe NOT on a societal level but a personal level is because being "real" or true to yourself is way more respected in black culture from what I have seen, and that is almost NEVER pushed or talked about in a white culture. Of course plenty of white people are "real" and true to themselves and plenty of black people are posing as something else, but as a culture I have seen a lot more fakyness that is encouraged to lubricate your life in general from "white" culture. Every culture can learn from each other in a lot of ways though. There is not a "better" one.
Truth. Same with gay culture being more true to themselves, or other minority cultures. They have to be more true to themselves or else they're drowned out by the dominant culture. They're trying to maintain their own identity.

@Nonya Biz lol tom macdonald seriously? He sounds like jake paul
@Nonya Biz He is original but I doubt he'll ever beef with Em. he knows his place
@Nonya Biz Are u FN kidding? He reinvents himself and gets even better with every album he ever comes out with. 20+ yrs nobody can touch him
@Nonya Biz Tom tells stories. He might be better than Hopsin, but not Em. The main reason you can’t compare them is that Tom rarely shows his skill and focuses on the message. Em lays everything out on the table as second nature.
@Nonya Biz I meant painting a picture. Everyone does it. I’m just saying there are only 3 songs where his rapping is remotely impressive. Having a substantial message does not equal substantial rapping. I buy his singles and CD’s, so of course I like his music. I’m not even an Em fan. It’s just Freddie Mercury vs Micheal Jackson all over again.
The first time I saw Ice-T was when he was the singer for Body Count, opening up for Metallica in Oakland. Anywho, we agree that everyone now adays sounds like everyone 😞 else. I'd like to hear his take on last weeks' grammys.....

You are 100% right. Especially now most artist sound the same. The 80's era was probably the last time you got unique sounding music as a whole as far as the music industry in general.
No. The 80s were the last time you saw the music industry show off new styles of music. The industry goes for the the sure thing, because it's more profitable. But during the 90s came the internet, and just like self-publishing authors, there is new music all over the internet. You just need to stop waiting for radio stations, television, or any other industry-led media to feed you what they want you to buy. Get off your ass, spend the time, and find the unique music yourself.
