I will admit, I very quickly wrote off War of Rights. Though I’ve now seen in videos about it and in its steam reviews that it does have a committed player base that seem more “casual” and less toxic than others give it credit for. Meaning that maybe a larger Battlefield-style game on the civil could be possible. But it would definitely still take some work to ensure it would be appealing to a mass audience.
@@DeadBeat_Dave but also there's a lot of people being casually offensive in the game, while I don't hear anyone just dropping n bombs there's a bit of roleplay that occurs and well..... Gamers gonna game I guess but the general populace is not like that they're outliers imo
@@PinkFloydFreak55 if you dont hear n bombs flying in war of rights you havent played for very long ill say that much lmao. its an excellent game, definitely something special. but the community is simultaneously holding it up and holding it back
My idea for a game like this would be a farm management sim set during the years of the war and you have to manage keeping your family and community fed while both southern and northern armies move through your land stealing your food. Could be some minor political intrigue in there too.

I loved those HIstory channel games back on the 360. I want to play them but I can only play them on an old 360. I could see an RTS style in the setting.
used to play the first game on the house pc in the 2000s, game sucked ahaha. but I wish there were some more civil war games, maybe even an assassins creed game.
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is partially happens during the civil war, so I don't think it's impossible. In fact in that game you do play on the gray side. And yes, the guns are not like in COD, but it's still viable to use them in an fps. It is interesting that you are talking about studios not taking risks, while at the same time they are constantly implementing stuff that fails... I think it would be way less risky to make a Civil War game then to push politics in every single game.
If a game doesn't exist because everyone has crippling fear about it OFFENDING someone that likely will never play it.... We will never have anything worth a shit anymore. Bask in the failure of the gaming industry while indie devs unafraid of stupid people gain more success.
Maybe a red dead type game but set during the civil war. Where you hunt bounties or war criminals of both sides. Than you can show the way the war affected everyone from the south and north. I feel showing the north in a more positive light would be necessary because fuck slavery and racism. But also showing war is terrible for everyone and how both sides committed atrocities. Could be like Django unchained / the good, bad, and ugly type story
I quite like the sound of a rockstar-style game taking place directly in that time period. Lots of interesting potential with that idea and ways a story could turn out to be really awesome.
I am horribly inexperienced with strategy games. So this one never came across my radar 😭 Though looking at its steam page, it definitely looks like a cool game

We would just end up with a civil war game for the "modern audience" lolol. Probably a pride flag battalion or two
Haha gotta give people more credit than that 😂😂
I think it’s totally possible to get a pretty cool game set in that era
No company should make a US Civil War game, if you can't understand why, SPEND MORE TIME OUTSIDE OR AROUND REAL LIFE PEOPLE FFS.
